Thank you so much , going too save this for the future when my new dash unit comes in . Changing out my old Pioneer to a touch screen Jensen CD-R 6221 .
I’m trying to put one in my 07 seirra and I can’t find a harness that has the two inputs that clip into the factory harness anywhere. Where’d you get yours??
Serious question and I hope you respond. Back in 97 when I was finishing up high school, I did a few installs and not just my vehicle. I was good at it but over time real life hit me and wasn’t doing it anymore. Last vehicle I had was a 2005 impala and I was told because it had the compustar addition and the vehicle security was tied into the factory radio, I’d have to have my aftermarket radio/cd player professionally installed because there was some “box” they had to install for the security/compustar that was tied into the radio. Sorry for the long comment but I’d like you to hear me out. I wanna install a system in my 2013 Silverado. I can do everything as long as the radio/head unit doesn’t require any additional equipment…. So my question is, is there any additional equipment/hardware I would need to install or is it just as easy as 90’s vehicles where all you do is add the wire harness?? Thanks
Yes just buy the aftermarket integration harness which would just talk to bose amp if yours is equipped with it, other than that its basically like any other install! The one in my application had a small box to give me a switched 12v for accessory wire and also retain chime. Hope I explained myself right and sorry for a late response. Also don’t think the aftermarket alarm had anything to do with radio on impala sounds like they just wanted some $$

Will I need a whole new harness if I want to put in a thinner radio and have a pocket in the dash kit? Really just looking to add Bluetooth to my truck, not the whole touch screen
Bro once you shift it down at least turn the truck off, you don't want to short out your truck or worse give yourself a shock. Disconnecting the battery is even more preferable.

How do you keep xm radio with a new radio. My stock one is starting to have issues. And xm said they won't switch to a different radio because of the deal I have only allows the id with the original one.
The Scosche harness won’t retain on star only the steering wheel controls. For on star you’re probably looking at getting a PAC wiring harness. Not sure on the part number for that one bro. 👍🏼

Hey bro I’m trying to install an after market radio into my 2010 Silverado 1500 and I’ve been seeing that these trucks need a separate power cable to power after market radios cause the factory wire harness doesn’t have a built in power cable. Not sure if you had this problem or not.
Yeah bro it’s for the aftermarket red wire on harness, since the factory only has hot 12v you will have to find a switched 12v and I usually tap into that black box under driver’s panel behind ebrake. Use a voltmeter and switch on and off until you find the 12v for key, hope this helps brother!
@@lalogvlogs4344 hey bro another question. So you’re splicing into the wires that are coming out of the black box behind the e-brake or splicing into a fuse?
No splicing bro there are pins that stick out that black box where another big connector would go and I use a female disconnect terminal and just slide it on to pin that has switched 12v , hope i make sense lol
Okay so I went to my local Walmart to check the harness to see if it retains the onstar and it doesn’t. But that GM3000SW harness only does the steering wheel controls. Sorry I thought that harness retained it all
You can direct wire it to the factory wiring, just google. Example (2009 Chevy Silverado Stereo Wiring Diagram) and it should pull up websites that give you the color codes! 👍🏼 hope this helps!
Where would you tie in for 12 acc. Factory only has 2 volts. Tried tapping into cig lighter and a couple other fuses onside of dash drivers side and truck will not start while radio is tapped into these spots. Once disconnected it starts fine
There is a module where the driver’s foot rest is under the dash, has a plastic cover remove the cover and with a voltmeter check each pin until you have 12v key on, then once you find one with 12v with key on. Check that there is no voltage with key off, and you can add a spade connector for the remote turn on and just add it to that only pin that supplies 12v key on. Hope this helps!
