- Pickle pops, roast chicken in a can, CHEESE IN A CAN and many more products I was horrified seeing at Walmart. This is the cultural shock I expected when I moved to America but I also wasn't quite ready to experience it.

as someone who has had chicken in a can, i've never seen anyone just eat it straight. Generally it's used like any cooked chicken in a recipe. Just you don't have to cook it.

Usually chicken in a can is used for a fast lunch meal like chicken salad just google chicken salad you'll understand lol
Canned chicken, frozen broccoli, rice and a can of the cheese sauce baked together is Something I grew up eating and feeding to day care children.

Peanuts are actually Legumes. (Beans) 🥜 Not a nut. Soo peanut butter is just sweetened bean paste. Akin to Japanese Red Azuki Bean Paste. Sweet 🫘 Beans.

@@MHDbeauty I’m from Haïti and we LOVE peanut butter, we eat it a lot. And not only do we have sweet peanut butter, we also have spicy, and also sweet/spicy. I’m saying this because I recently realized that I’ve never seen spicy peanut butter anywhere else.

Oh no! Canned chicken is an ingredient. I don't know anyone who raw dogs it straight from the can. At the bare minimum, you mix it with mayo, season it, and make a chicken salad sandwich.
I put mayo, onion powder, garlic powder, black pepper, crushed red pepper (to taste) and fresh celery and onion. I also do that with chicken breast I made (but use the can at least once a year). I prefer chicken breast fresh, but use can at least once a year. Both are yum! I put it on crackers, or toasted bread of any type.

I drink the pickle brine from most of the pickles I buy.
I think it’s a texture problem and on top of it I think our pickles are rather salty while American ones might be a bit more vinegary. When you have a popsicle your brain expects a fruity taste and you get hit with salt, vinegar and dill…

I love pickle juice. Never goes to waste with me around. I just randomly go to the fridge and drink it. I have a problem with low sodium though bc I don't absorb it right. So I have to eat more than normal to keep my levels up.
Most of those products end up being given to people who can't afford food. So glad you're back!

Then you've gotten an extremely nice pantry. Doritos, Cold foam, name brand canned chicken, pizza cupcakes, name brand little dinners, Cheerios....I say this because I had to go 2x and I got expired frozen meat, generic macaroni (we all know it's not the same) bag cereal, canned meat, juice and peanut butter. Most people donate what they don't want or what's cheap. They forget in doing good people actually have to eat it. I was grateful but glad I never had to do it again...

Raphael, dude, if you don’t like our food, i don’t care, and if you think some of our food is weird, don’t worry. Sometimes when I go to the store I’ll see new food items and go…wtf?

My point was to let Raphael know that it’s okay to not to like our food and I hope he doesn’t worry too much about offending us Americans. To get mad at a person who doesn’t like the same food as you is pretty silly. But I understand why he’s nervous about it, I just wanted to let him know that not all of us Americans will get upset over something so silly

Rapha, those churro tortillas, they sell it by the weight, not the bag size. The bag has to be big because, in order to keep crispiness and avoid damage to the chips, they fill the bag with a non-toxic gas and seal it. They are not scamming you. There's a purpose.
At least that's the story they tell. They could reduce the bag size a LOT, but people buy big bags of air for a bigger price than a small full bag.
They TELL you they put a gas in there.
Exactly, it’s nitrogen and it’s to keep the chips fresh. Nitrogen is inert so it won’t react with the oil and cause the chips to go rancid line they would if plain air was injected into the bag.
They used to sell chips in a box with 3 , 4 oz bags that cost 39¢.
Long distance runners or marathoneruse pickle juice as an electrlite so they appreciated ona long run !

The chicken is actually not meant to be eaten from the can. It is meant to be added into things like chicken salad and used with noodles. You drain the can before using it. Its like tuna in a can.
However i find it funny that rapha is shocked as in the UK you can buy an entire hamburger in a can.
The chicken breast in a can: it can be used in chicken salad, chicken enchiladas, chicken spaghetti etc. I wouldn’t want to eat it by itself.

Pickle juice can be used after a workout to help rehydrate and reduce muscle cramps. That is why you can buy pickle pops. I wanted those pickle juice pops so bad when I was pregnant too.
I love pickles. The more sour, the better. Those sound good.
With the chicken in a can you can use it to make buffalo chicken dip. Buffalo hot sauce,cream cheese,ranch dressing, shredded cheese and the canned chicken heat it in a pot or in a crockpot

Pickle pops are for the salt and vinegar to stay hydrated and avoid cramps. My hubbys work at a glass plant provides them for the workers. Hubby said they are gross.
In Saudi Arabia we can order movie theaters popcorn from delivery apps 😂

We can do that here in America too. It's not new.
If you in the south find a street vendor they usually have the best tasting boiled peanuts and usually the have Cajun flavor too if you like a bit of spice.

I am from Germany. When i visited a friend in South Carolina, we went to a Collage Football Game. I had boiled penuts there. It was strange at first but i really liked it though. Nothing you would find in Europe.
the little podunk ran down gas stations have the BEST food! there’s one gas station close to where we board our horses that sells this amazing, mind blowingly good breakfast. genuinely amazing homemade biscuits and gravy, buttery cheesy grits and breakfast sandwiches…. now i’m hungry lol

I work in a Walmart: most of this stuff is not sold in any stores near me and the crazy stuff like cheez-it ranch are generally like limited edition and only for a short time, typically because the companies know the things are so bizarre that people will buy them just to try it, kind of like you're doing here. Most of this stuff is either not sold in any of the stores anywhere near me at all, or it's a brief appearance kind of thing.

For the Krispy Kreme donuts, they come to the store frozen so they don't taste as fresh as they should. You have to heat up the canned cheese. Also, the ramen that is everything bagel flavored is interesting, we have a smores one where I am, at this very moment.

I too immediately asked myself "WHY??" when I discovered the grilled cheese sandwiches in the freezer section at Walmart.

I don't think many people eat canned chicken by itself. It's used for easy cooking, like chicken salad, lazy casseroles, etc. It's used for lazy cookers like me and because it's cheaper

There are several brands of cottage cheese that come with pineapple chunks in it. I also like to put fresh blueberries on my cottage cheese. It makes it both sweet and savory.

Boiled peanuts are good in a can but the authentic way is to buy them fresh at the side of the road LMAO. I also feel like they're better warm so when I get them in a can, I microwave them for just five seconds. Glad to see you are back and hope you're feeling better!
I'm from Nigeria, we also boil fresh raw peanuts , they taste really nice ...I don't know why Americans can/ put everything in plastic tho.
Convenience mainly. Plastic is also cheaper than glass so thats usually what companies go for.
And because it extends the shelf life. Good for those who stock pile food, for when shit hits the fan.

Boiled peanuts are better when heated like in a microwave. They are very salty. Be careful when eating them warmed up.

Didn’t you know the food here is full of preservatives and chemicals that are illegal in other countries? It’s really sad and disgusting.
Did you know there are foods in other countries that are illegal here? I know its fun to hate on America for everything, but it's called a disagreement of risk. In many countries in Europe, Advil is prescription only. But I'm not bound to find a great deal of people in America who believe it should be. Likewise, there are heartburn medications that we've outlawed but work wonders in other countries. Asia eats their weight in seaweed but in America, we are warned of it's links to causing cancer. The same with charcoal-cooked foods.

YES, America is the country that will always have a pez like reindeer or Easter bunny, penguin, chicken, etc... that poops jellybeans/ candies or crazy flavored candy canes & crazy items but that's us. Thanks for showing us the crazy things we have & Walmart or Walmart Marketplace(almost all food) is usually the best place to find crazy things! 🤪 😂💜🙏🫶
Personally I have to rinse and drain the chicken and then use it in either chicken salad, chicken pot pie or other dish where it has a lot of seasonings so it is there for protein but has other seasonings and textures added in.
