When escaping powder, I recommend you do heel side zig zag, straight or intermediate sliding turns, not the big sliding turn, it works better, trust me, I am an advanced snow boarder. (Sliding turn is the “S” turn)
big thing, commit your shoulder to the turns. If you wanna go hard toe side, push your shoulder down to the front of the board, heel side open up your body stick your shoulder to the other side. Soon as you learn that, helps everything.
Falling a lot while learning is exactly why I kept at it- it made me mad! 😂 But trust me, the better you get, the more fun it becomes... Now I’m addicted, I live in an RV and spend all winter riding- NOT WORKING 🤣🙏❤️🤠🤩 Great vid!✌️👍
Cant wait to HIT the slopes again. LITERALLY hahaha! I recently tried snowboarding too but only had 1 day. 6 consecutive days must be a whole new game!
It’s great for people starting out, but definitely not for me for two reasons - lack of IBIS and still NOT a flip out screen. Would love to have the auto focus tho seems great
@@shawneydepp tbh i dont mind having no ibis ill probally just treat it like a better low light 80d 🤷♂️ and also i think they cant have a flip out cos panasonicnand canon already patented it
Cool video, for first timer, you are not bad.Did you rent the gears from the resort? How much is the cost?I am planning to go for winter holidays and try snowboarding but need to decide whether to buy the jacket, pants and other gears or rent.Hope you can answer my queries.
@@shawneydepp Oh great, at least you managed to get in just in time. We are looking forward to the opening of the border and hopefully will get to see everyone again next year. Great video by the way.
Hey Shawney, what song did you use for the upbeat part of the video? When you were snowboarding... got that song stuck in my head and can’t find the song!
Yes that's right. I went with on an organised trip though, and the entire lodge is booked by them during the season so you can check out 'The Ride Side'
Hello, i want to book this same trip , but i checked the website and there are many different trips but all of them showed 8 people sharing and no one was with 20 people together, can you please tell me which one you booked?. This is innovative way to make new friends and learn new culture bdw.
Hey there. I believe what you saw was the max no. of pax per room (the shared room). It’s a big guest house with many other rooms so there will be more people under the same roof
If you want to be good at snowboarding, head straight to the intermediate level where the degree of the slope is significantly steeper than the beginner's slope. That's what I did anyways. I had no choice, the beginner's slope was closed and it was my first time too T_T (I was at Annupuri, Hokkaido). Not to brag but at the end of that one day, I was as good as you at your sixth day Lol!. Also, I love your vlogs Shawne! They're so beautiful and inspiring. Keep up the good work!
That's what I heard that worked for some others as well. I tried a red slope on my second day - it failed miserably because I didn't have the basics right yet + the fear was real haha. Thanks for watching through this!
I've tried snowboarding twice but always gave up and went back to skiing. This makes me want to learn it again!
Dont give up mate 👊🏻

Nisekoooooooooooooooo🤩
Hokkaido is so so addictive I think I have visited there on all seasons😅
Good job. First days are the hardest! I did not take a class, so I learned the very very hard way. Keep at it
I wished I took more lessons. Everyone should haha. So many bad habits gone unoticed

Eh 1 day is definitely not enough! hahaha I think 3-4 days is a good range
Added snowboarding to my to-do-list when traveling to Hokkaido in the future!
Awesome 🤟🏻
Nice vacation ! Thanks for sharing awesome video.
What is the name of the song everyone was singing at 11:48? Thanks.

Hey thanks alot. I went with a snowboard/ski group tour called the ride side, so I rented everything from there
shawneydepp Thank you for the information
Wish you well👍
Looks like an epic trip, did you manage to get back this winter before the world closed down?
My last ski trip was feb in 2020. Lucky to have done it before covid but wishing i could do it this season..
@@shawneydepp Oh great, at least you managed to get in just in time. We are looking forward to the opening of the border and hopefully will get to see everyone again next year. Great video by the way.
what kind of pants do you usually wear for snow sports
Currently I wear snow bibs/overalls

@@qtkf69 It wasn't Hanazono - I stayed somewhere between Annupuri and Moiwa (I think)

these snow conditions are wayyyyyy tooooooo good
Agreed. 2019/2020 winter was bad.
Which was your personal favorite resort, Shawn?
you're so brave.
Waaa the tumbnail is sick bro!
Dude can i just say...I loved how each transition from snow was straight to a hot warm spread of food!! OMG!
WOOHOO! GO AT IT. Looking good. Lets ride together next time!
Dang for sure!

Power lah bro!!! 👍

nice video!
I’ve never fell so many times in my life.
I give you bonus points for pure guts
Take at least three classes with an instructor - once you start making S-Turns, progression comes quick!
Damn, You actually made falling down look good.
If I’m going to fall, might as well fall in style 🤙🏻
@@shawneydepp 😂😂😂
Piegate le gambe usare il braccio come timone ruotare il busto, usare protezioni
Why do you gotta mention asian? I mean half of my ski resort is asian lol
Probably would’ve had 50% less falls if you weren’t filming with a giant stick😂
I have to agree with that hahah
