- I've finally fulfilled one of my many dreams before I turn 30 - to pick up snowboarding. It's been one of heck of a unique and intense experience to hit the slopes everyday for 6 days straight in Niseko, Hokkaido.
I went with a tour called 'The Ride Side' where they organise group tours for skii and snowboarding enthusiasts (for both pros and beginners). They take you to different mountain resorts, slopes, runs, onsen runs, restaurants and house about 20 people in a lodge where you get to also make new friends.

When escaping powder, I recommend you do heel side zig zag, straight or intermediate sliding turns, not the big sliding turn, it works better, trust me, I am an advanced snow boarder. (Sliding turn is the “S” turn)
Falling a lot while learning is exactly why I kept at it- it made me mad! 😂
But trust me, the better you get,
the more fun it becomes...

big thing, commit your shoulder to the turns. If you wanna go hard toe side, push your shoulder down to the front of the board, heel side open up your body stick your shoulder to the other side. Soon as you learn that, helps everything.
Cant wait to HIT the slopes again. LITERALLY hahaha! I recently tried snowboarding too but only had 1 day. 6 consecutive days must be a whole new game!
Eh 1 day is definitely not enough! hahaha I think 3-4 days is a good range

It’s great for people starting out, but definitely not for me for two reasons - lack of IBIS and still NOT a flip out screen. Would love to have the auto focus tho seems great

If you want to be good at snowboarding, head straight to the intermediate level where the degree of the slope is significantly steeper than the beginner's slope. That's what I did anyways. I had no choice, the beginner's slope was closed and it was my first time too T_T (I was at Annupuri, Hokkaido). Not to brag but at the end of that one day, I was as good as you at your sixth day Lol!. Also, I love your vlogs Shawne! They're so beautiful and inspiring. Keep up the good work!
That's what I heard that worked for some others as well. I tried a red slope on my second day - it failed miserably because I didn't have the basics right yet + the fear was real haha.

Yes that's right. I went with on an organised trip though, and the entire lodge is booked by them during the season so you can check out 'The Ride Side'

Hello, i want to book this same trip , but i checked the website and there are many different trips but all of them showed 8 people sharing and no one was with 20 people together, can you please tell me which one you booked?. This is innovative way to make new friends and learn new culture bdw.
Hey there. I believe what you saw was the max no. of pax per room (the shared room). It’s a big guest house with many other rooms so there will be more people under the same roof
