no... u had to been there..... and i was marching that day..... it was OUR HOMECOMING... and each band has 10 mins on the field... TU went first and they took over 13 mins... which left us 6 if that and we had to do the Homecoming Court thing... so really THEY WAS RUDE.... dont u think...
Lmao they was still playing when the drummajors hit the field they got the fuck out the way when they saw the band coming lmao hold on I gotta watch it again
omg i have never seen this happen...and its not really rude, its there home game and the visitors show was over the time limit so they did what they had to do :D
Everyone is talking about how wrong Tuskegee was, when they don't know the facts. ESPN was interviewing ASU coach on the field and Tuskegee was told by ESPN to wait until they were finished. That is why Tuskegee didn't start their show on time. If you want to blame someone, blame ESPN! I've addressed this before about the image and cost to ALL HBCU SCHOOLS if they would have gotten into a fight on NATIONAL TV! The $650,000 Southern just got, the big payday Grambling just got in California, the payday Alcorn got at Georgia Tech, and all the other HBCU schools that take large paydays at D1 schools would be gone. A fight would have set ALL HBCU SCHOOLS back decades! There would be No more TV footage, and millions of dollars in sponsorship gone. Tuskegee did the right thing by showing restraint and understanding the big picture. We as a people already have a bad image as is, why add to it.
+keoke32 good answer for when undisciplined stupid try and flex their muscle not only do they pay but the entire program does, ask su the band who thinks they can't be beat
How long did the team take the leave the field? How much time did they lose? Like I said in another reply, I've seen it happen before. But I've never seen it to the point where the other band had almost no time. And this is homecoming, so you know the half-time should have been a little longer.
Exactly! That's how fights break out! If it was ASU's homecoming, why didn't the TU band director just gracefully bow out, not take the field, and allow ASU to have the whole halftime? I've seen visiting schools' bands do that and I always thought that such gesture was classy and professional. Let the home school enjoy their homecoming game, including all of halftime.
I still say anybody who's proud of this is probably under 25 years of age. This could have had a near deadly outcome. Here's a solution, first of all play somebody else on your so called homecoming!!!! Its the only classic that's somebody's homecoming. Play some school you can actually beat. Schedule Tuskegee on a home and home contract. I respect you ASU i do. This game was on national TV and they actually showed a clip of this. Makes both schools look bad. Skegee 91-93 Tenor Drum
FIRST OF ALL...even with the competitiveness of SU & JSU they don't go over their time. ASU would not have the balls to march between SU or JSU. It would be some shit on that field! I viewed this and was like HELL NO!
This could have gone horribly wrong and ASU would have been the group blamed for it but................. ASU just did what we all want to do when somebody is deliberately screwing you over. My composed mature self says that they should have went and told the band director they were compromising them with the time left in halftime. However, I'm pretty sure TU's band director knows about the halftime policies already and made the conscious decision not to shorten their show coming in to the game. So, I can't say I would have made the call to go out and start the show, but I can also see how the call was made.
Prairie View went over their time yesterday at Jsu and we didn't cut their halftime show off. We was late getting off the Field ourselves. We made a adjustment to walk back to the stands instead of marching. In my opinion this is just ghetto and rude.
You say what you want but when you purposely go over your preset time at another school's homecoming, it just asking for trouble....and to top it off it was an extended half time
For those who may not understand a complete show should take 10-12 minutes from stat to finish ,that's if you can march on the original steps per minute created by GSU and FAMU
Personally, I feel as though its disrespectful to go to another schools stadium and go over time...band directors are well informed of how long your supposed to stay on the field. And clearly they were no where near done.
Field Shows are not for ESPN games all they care about is was going on with the football teams if they do halftime interviews then the bands get pushed to the back burner its all about money
I think the BOOM or the BOX would have stood there and dared them to come on through. I know I seen some times even in parades where people tried to cut through even after the directors and police asked them to hold on. It almost got ugly. I'm just glad it was TU because we don't need another SU-PV moment, especially coming after all the bad FAMU press. NCAA would probably suspend half-time shows for a couple weeks.
Before each game each band is given a certain time for halftime performance. Especially with it being a homecoming if was very rude for TU to go over their time........Correct me if i'm but halftime is only a certain amount of minutes once its over you have to get off the field or be fined/penalized! Respect goes both ways!!!!! If ASU had went over their time at JSU or Su trust and believe the same would have occurred because these bands work extremely hard on their field shows especially homecoming.....The BD was pissed and i dont blame him
You are so right, If it had been Southern or JSU they would have maybe not storm the fied but they may have started playing on the sidelines....as a que to get off the field. Because the team is fined if the bands or still on the field when the football teams come out.
From what I heard there was some type of even that occurred before TU even took the field for their show. So That's probably why it appeared they went over time, when they were right on time actually. This was disrespectful on ASU's part and I will say even TU had their disrespectful moment by playing in the stands while ASU was still performing, but regardless this should've never happened and not been encouraged. ASU needs to pick a different game for homecoming..
Would only would we not allow it. We'd probably leave the field with a couple opposing uniforms. Of course we wouldn't be in TU's position because even if we ran slightly over, it wouldn't be anything outrageous cutting into the band time in a major way. It would probably be 20 seconds max. They really need to extend half-time to 25 minutes. Even at Classics both bands don't get a lot of time because I've seen the clock start before everyone is off the field.
Props to TU because they didn't feed into the disrespect. It has to be a reason why TU went over their time, and from what I understand it's because ASU football team was still on the field when TU time started. ASU could have handle this a lot better, but didn't.
Don't matter if it was they homecoming, don't fucking go thru they ranks that shit is very disrespectful.. but you can't be mad at the band they only follow they are told to do
I couldnt have been Su or JSU....no doubt they are sooo lucky that it didnt turn out really bad right there. one punch and it would have been a brawl......all ima say is. Niggaz..................thats they ASU band director fault. he should have fired...let the officials deal with the time situation. that was foul.....
MAN WHATEVER! Diplomacy and all that other stuff goes out the window when a band disrespects a home band like that AT THEIR HOMECOMING!! They knew what they did. I'm sure they knew the time their show was gonna take, as every band should. So they took a bold action and got showed up on. There is NO home band that is gonna let you do that. ASU is, in all ways, right for doing what they did. There is absolutely no other way to handle it. Would you rather have them talk it out after the game? lmfao
We wouldn't have gone over this bad. Like I said sometimes half-time gets started late and they start the clock anyway. But even in situations like that our directors are always aware. I remember going into a game where Liddell complained about the clock starting before the field was clear. He let us know that if that happened we would just come completely off the field instead of stopping and playing a piece at the sideline after the exit tune. 1 time I thought he was coming to drag us off LOL
i understand a halftime show is important, but when things like this happens it causes problems!!...however, i am a former member of the Marching 100 and they would have never did anything like this to us!! this is how fights break out between bands, and TU yall made yourself look a fool by moving, but most of all yall let them break your lines!!! where is the pride! #lost
Man, being white sucks balls sometimes. I put my all into every band rehearsal, and I put 150% on for performances, but because I'm a damn white dude, I don't get to go to the schools with the awesome bands like Alabama state and such. I should like get a skin transplant or something.
tru but 2 wrongs dont make a right either, and instead of it makign STATE look good or kool liek to some folks, it really jus made them look real unprofessional, still gotta keep it on a level headed status
D. Demetria W. At the end of the day its respect, me being a formal Drum major its stated by the game rules that each team has a certain amount a time. usually 10-12 mins the drum majors have one minute to do there salute which brings the band on 10 mins to perform, and a minute to get off the field.
xRere1201 are you that immature, it's the same way in college as high school! Ever heard anyone say "High school prepares you for college" *facepalms* *mumbles "dumbass"
I doubt we woulda just walked off. I don't doubt Dr. Liddell would have tried to get us to walk off, but I don't think we would have. We would have done a left face and said "WSUP." Said to say but true. But we wouldn't be in this kind of mess unless the other band decided they wanted to go on early and start something
@tallen87 obviously u care about this way more than i do, so how about u continue to read comments and add ur two cents that nobody cares about while I go be talented somewhere
I dont care what anyone else says this was hilarious, and i hate how ppl keep saying they could have found a better way....ummm how go up to the band director and whine or get on a megaphone while they playing...ya not gonna work

They had rights to do that cause I'm in a marching band and we are given 10 minutes each game
Exactly
It depends on the event, botb, honda botb, regular halftimes are 7 minutes, sometimes 4 minutes 🤷🏽♂️
Lmao they was still playing when the drummajors hit the field they got the fuck out the way when they saw the band coming lmao hold on I gotta watch it again

Hell Nawl. They should have atleast told the Band Director and Head DM to get the band off the feild. But this is some funny ah stuff.
They only did it because it was a smaller band. I'm sure they wouldn't have done this to the Marching 100. I have no respect for them now.
