what your tough on safa brain going all out on the 32mm on the new scott build? Also would you change the chainrings on the rival crank for the red version to cut weight down?
Hes obivously really good at the sport and a great rider, so at the end of the day it is his call...... I hate the trend and also feel like he is loosing speed, but what people will say is, the 32 tire is wider and taller tire, so when he gets to top end speed the tire will expand like from momentum and get taller so it will be a bigger revolution and maintain and carry top end speed..... also more comfort... but fuck do I know, he rides with pros, I change flat tires on beach cruisers
I have a 2015 Lynskey R240, weight is 18.6 with pedals. I have a carbon bar, seatpost, 50mm wheelset and Ultegra components with rim brakes. Why are these stock Tarmacs and other new carbon bike so heavy? I would expect the weights of these bikes to be in the 17-18 pound range.
I have a Poison Speed with Mavic CL45 wheels / ultegra mechanical group with 105 cassette- LIGHTER than that. 8.2 kg with pedals and garmin mount (front and back for garmin radar). My bike costs ... maybe 2500 euro. Why would I buy specialized ? No ceramic anything, shit headset, aluminium handlebars....
@@GCPerformance18 Sucks how Spesh prices their bikes… often making “upgrades” cost prohibitive. I built a (frame up) S-Works SL6 a couple years ago, and it basically ran as much as a stock S-Works build. Only savings was the frame.. on sale at $3,800 instead of $4,800. If I installed Rapides and SRAM Red like I want to, on the Allez sprint, I’d be in the SL7 expert range, same R470 hoops… but CARBON frame. Wish there was a break on component builds, and upgrades. Anyways, I do have my eye on some Hunts.. but my bike was built by a moron at Spesh. Their direct to consumer offer is a joke. Literally had to take a brand new bike in for a tune up, before I could ride it. Now the BB is creaking like a 20yr old press fit… might not have this bike too much longer, as I have requested a return… or a new bike.
I have a HYPER 50 on a Giant Propel disc. I find that when I tighten the rear thru axle, it slows the freewheeling. I loosen the thruaxle and freewheel is good but the axle is not tight at all and not confident on riding outdoors with a loose rear thruaxle. Any recommendations?
yea that is normal when the wheel spins because it is not compressed, but that is how the wheel is suppose to funciton the reaosn why mine spins so freely is because of the ospw and also the ceramicspeed bb
Can you explain the saddle cups part? I have a Terra Carbon seatpost that came with my Diverge and I'm not sure if I need to buy different cups when I upgrade my saddle to carbon rails. If so, where do I find these different cups?
Finally found this video again. It doesn't show up when I search for it even if the keywords match. Weird... Anyways, I was wondering where did you get those carbon specific saddle clamps for the seatpost. I know my SL7 comp didn't come with it.
Ahhhh hello!! I’m sorry you couldn’t find it. Just search on specialized.com carbon saddle rail clamps. It will come up. Or ask your local specialized store
Excited for you and your new SL7. Is there a reason other than weight to change the rotors out to Red? I have the SL7 Pro with Force 1x. So Force rotors but I’ve wondered about the Red rotors. 🤔
no reason at all, just the weight for me, and also the look of it...... but stopping power is very similar, companies might claim there is better if you go to them and they might be right marginally but they are very simialr in stopping power
I put zipp aero bars on my SL7 you sold me. also did force 1x cranks, force cassette, mirror power seat, zipp303 wheels but haven't weight it for some reason
Interesting series, still waiting to hear from my local Spec dealer on what the potential SL7 builds for 2023 will be to order from but 2022 didn't offer an Expert in Canada so if its the same for 2023, would be choosing between a Comp like this and upgrading wheels and adding a power meter or going for the Pro which already comes with aero wheels and a power meter. Seems like upgrading the wheels and to a Red power meter crank on the comp still is about $1200 CAD cheaper, consider upgrading the bars and saddle, you are less than $1000, consider the value of the derailleurs, shifters and its pretty close but with upgrading the Comp you would end up with a training wheel set... May just decide based on colours.
I think 2023 are going to be colors alsso, I dont see them changingn the platform they might folow same price and also just different colors and modelsss
@@GCPerformance18 I would like to see SRAM update the Force group to be similar to the new Rival AXS. That would be tempting with the newer hood design and a general refresh.

Hello, I am a big fan of your channel, just one quick question, I am riding SL7 expert with Roval C38, weigh around 8kg, if I am going to get another pair of wheels for speed, shall I get deep section wheel or get another pair of all-round wheel (e.g. Zipp 303 firecrest) in higher level? Thanks 🙏
thanks so much!!! if you live in a flat area like florida like I d, then a deeep dish wheel like 65mm or 60s are perfect and a huge upgrade but if you have any kin of climbs around you or moderate amount of climbs go for like a 50mm wheel it is the usual in between depth that people enjoy to get the added aero but still not so deep that you its harder to climb.... btu my wheels that depth I can literally sit on someone wheels and feel like a tt bike and jsut easily pedal lol..... the bike is doing a lto of the work for me
@@GCPerformance18 I am from Hong Kong, so it’s around the hilly climb, so I am thinking to keep Roval C38 to tackle the climb, but I am it’s not light enough to handle the job well. In the world of disc wheel, it seems to be hard to shave 300-400g on the wheels, so I am thinking whether I should replace a better all rounded wheel or go for the deep wheel to tackle the triathlon race.
Sram Rival eTap? not sure, thinking to pick Ultegra mechanical instead, still lighter and cheaper and higher spec. Don't have enough cash for Force upgrade or Di2 so I think it's a wise choice. What's your thoughts - Ultegra Disc mechanical vs Sram Rival eTap?

hello GC, is the Nova Ride stroller worth buying in your opinion? thanks for the next cool video, best regards to your fan Michael from Austri Wien 👍🚴🏻🚴🏻🚴🏻
I love this peice and it is a nice upgrade for th emoney!!
Sweet! Love those 65mm beautiful indeed.
Helll yeahhh man congrats
Thanks so much!!!
You've referred to Specialized as the Apple of the bike world before, what would you say Trek is?
ummmm idk itss hard, but they are also similar to it, hard ot referenc ebecause there are ntoas many phone companies
I like 25c tires at around 90 to 110 psi just feels fast to me. I don’t buy into wider is better.
same here, it does not make any sense to me, in the car world or anything in that matter, but in the cycling world it is suppose to be faster
Very cool-like a kid in a candy store. 🚴🏻♂️🔥…I’m super curious about that saddle….is it really more comfortable as claimed?….
I will let u guys know after a couple rides for sure
what your tough on safa brain going all out on the 32mm on the new scott build? Also would you change the chainrings on the rival crank for the red version to cut weight down?
Hes obivously really good at the sport and a great rider, so at the end of the day it is his call...... I hate the trend and also feel like he is loosing speed, but what people will say is, the 32 tire is wider and taller tire, so when he gets to top end speed the tire will expand like from momentum and get taller so it will be a bigger revolution and maintain and carry top end speed..... also more comfort... but fuck do I know, he rides with pros, I change flat tires on beach cruisers
@@GCPerformance18 he does a lot of steep descends, maybe is also as a safety net
@@bernardo9202 more contact patch can turn more aggressive and run lower pressures
I’m still tuning the original ceramic speed BB in my sl5😛. Time got new ones need to press out the old and press in the new
I got you, I loe press bb it feels so cool, actually feels like im doing crazy high tech work
I have a 2015 Lynskey R240, weight is 18.6 with pedals. I have a carbon bar, seatpost, 50mm wheelset and Ultegra components with rim brakes. Why are these stock Tarmacs and other new carbon bike so heavy? I would expect the weights of these bikes to be in the 17-18 pound range.
Fun video. I think you mean "deep section" rather than "deep dish", right? Dish is the center of the rim relative to the length of the axle.
yea thats what I mean thanks for watching
I have a Poison Speed with Mavic CL45 wheels / ultegra mechanical group with 105 cassette- LIGHTER than that. 8.2 kg with pedals and garmin mount (front and back for garmin radar). My bike costs ... maybe 2500 euro. Why would I buy specialized ? No ceramic anything, shit headset, aluminium handlebars....
This video made me realize I don’t want to put ANY extra money into my ‘22 Allez Sprint. The “gains” would be so minimal, ain’t worth it.
hahahahha except carbon wheels doe, u need those
@@GCPerformance18 Sucks how Spesh prices their bikes… often making “upgrades” cost prohibitive.
Great video. What is the "free hub type" for Tarmac SL7 comp 2020. This is the thing winspace asks for ordering wheelsets?
It is a sram xdr free hub disc brake center lock thru axle :) thank you so much
Can you explain the saddle cups part? I have a Terra Carbon seatpost that came with my Diverge and I'm not sure if I need to buy different cups when I upgrade my saddle to carbon rails. If so, where do I find these different cups?
carbon rails are oval shaped and usually hollow, if cups are for round rails the carbon gets crushed.
just contact your local specialized dealer, and ask them for the carbon rail...... this is what u need 2812-9050 search that on google
@@GCPerformance18 I'm buying a Fizik saddle with 7x10mm rails. Can I use that 7x9mm clamp or should I look for something else?
Finally found this video again. It doesn't show up when I search for it even if the keywords match. Weird... Anyways, I was wondering where did you get those carbon specific saddle clamps for the seatpost. I know my SL7 comp didn't come with it.
Ahhhh hello!! I’m sorry you couldn’t find it. Just search on specialized.com carbon saddle rail clamps. It will come up. Or ask your local specialized store
Love the vid, but the music was a bit loud over your voice a few times.
okay thank you for poiting it out next time it will be a little bit lower
Nice. Love the bike. BUT...you gotta go with some aerofly II bars!
looking for the free lol, I would love some rapide bars
Excited for you and your new SL7. Is there a reason other than weight to change the rotors out to Red? I have the SL7 Pro with Force 1x. So Force rotors but I’ve wondered about the Red rotors. 🤔
no reason at all, just the weight for me, and also the look of it...... but stopping power is very similar, companies might claim there is better if you go to them and they might be right marginally but they are very simialr in stopping power
I put zipp aero bars on my SL7 you sold me. also did force 1x cranks, force cassette, mirror power seat, zipp303 wheels but haven't weight it for some reason
yea I want aero bars so bad but I kind of dont want to pay for them right now lol
The fact they didnt grease that original bottom bracket is extremely poor by Specialized imo! Pretty disappointing
not the end of the world to me, it was there but I would prefer more, but it would have held up fine
@@GCPerformance18 New colours? Geez they will have to jack up the price by at least 20% for those ;)
@@GCPerformance18 I would like to see SRAM update the Force group to be similar to the new Rival AXS. That would be tempting with the newer hood design and a general refresh.
Nice! My Force AXS rear derailleur’s cage snapped and I was thinking replacing it with OSPW. Since you’ve done it countless times, would be great to see a video on how to do that.
it is such a pain in the ass just check the companies videos like ceramicspeed
That baby rocks now! Those wheels are sweet. I have Bontrager XXX carbon handlebars on 2 of my bikes, you might want to check them out. Keep up the good work! Ride on.
not gonna lie, I love the bontrager bars but I mean I can not put the trek stuff on the specialized.... it is a no no
Yeah that crank is pretty heavy but hey it comes with powermeter.
no this one does not but I can add a power meter to it
Hello, I am a big fan of your channel, just one quick question, I am riding SL7 expert with Roval C38, weigh around 8kg, if I am going to get another pair of wheels for speed, shall I get deep section wheel or get another pair of all-round wheel (e.g.
What benefit does the bottom bracket give?
less drag and friction so while pedaling you have the least amount of resistance, and it is easier to pedal
We have the same bike, saddle, wheelset and cleat pedals.
did we jsut become best friends?
I need that BB, for my bike so i can go fast this summer!!
no lie, I dont care what anyone says, that shit is butter smooth!!
I'd take Ultegra R8020 any day.
agreed
For the $1000s you spent could've been 2 models up and over a kg lighter with better shifting....but I get the brands want exposure
bike retail: 5500
wheels 1200
ospw 250
saddle 450
ceramicspeed bb 450
rotors 160
nect model bike is the tarmac expert sl7 which retails for 8300.... all these upgrades im at 7600
plus that model expert comes with c38 base model wheels, no ceramic bb, no ceramic ospw and also not an amazing co mfy sworks power mniurror 3d printed saddle......
those add ones would make any bike be more money and also my wheels are ceramic bearings and also carbon spokes bladed.... with the depth i want for florida........ issa a win for me
Hi there! Is this shop in singapore as i understood? May i know which shop is it? Thanks
no it is not, my shop is in south florida name of the shop is bicycle generation, but the name of the shop that hooked me up is team turtle in singapor
@@GCPerformance18 ohh ok! Thanks
That cassette looks huge for Florida. Another way to save weight?
yes it is massive, I am going to upgrade crank and cassette in bar in next video
damn this a super nice
thanks so much!!!
8.72 kgs is a dream bike weight for me. Im riding a 17kgs bike.
didi you balance those wheels??!! there was ZERO wobble on the hub sound test. damn!
I did not, they came like that, they are super nice and solid
@@GCPerformance18 wow, impressive
I’m in Florida October this year, would love to come by the shop!! Could you send the address??
yes of course!!! the name of the bicycle generation from hillsboro
wow it's really heavy orginally setup, whats the size?
size 56
@@GCPerformance18 thx man. Going to upgrade to buy a sl7 expert after seen this review
So not alot of a weight difference between the stock version of sl7 comp and the new allez sprint then?
Beautiful bike please do a road test video.
it is coming soon, as soon as I got done buildingit, it has been 20mph wind days
