I felt guilty and foolish for spending this kind of money on a bike (2020 Roubaix sport) but it’s given me so much fitness and stress relief; I recommend any quality bike to enjoy & stick with it. Great video & info here 👍
Yea honestly, if it’s what makes you happy and this relieves stress then price shouldn’t be an option. It’s for your health and if you can afford it and it makes you more efficient in life by just giving you cardio and health. Then it’s all worth it
Se vcs morassem no Brasil aí sim saberiam o que é pagar caro nessas bikes! Kkk... mas minhas Specialized valeram cada centavo, pela alegria que me trazem! Essa Roubaix😍!
*Works great my **Latest.Bike** I have a bad knee so I still get exercise but the bike assists me. I am a big guy so I didn’t think it would go as fast but it works great.*
I ride a 2018 Roubaix Expert, and I just upgraded my wheels to Zipp303s with 28mm tubeless tires. Love the bike, 4000 miles so far in 2020. Not the new design Roubaix but still a great bike and pretty fast. I’ve been riding faster and faster, not getting KOMs but I’m in the top 10 on some segments around town. I spend a lot of time in aero position on the Roubaix and avg 20-22 mph or more on flats. Wanting di2 and a stiffer snappier bike for those 20-30 mile TTs I ordered the SL7 pro. So I’ll have both a sweet Roubaix for the longer 70-100 mile club rides and the SL7 for hammering out the 1-3 hour rides. Best of both worlds. I’ll report back once the SL7 arrives in January!
Thats awesome congratulations on the new bike.... you are going to be blown away buy it and how it responds, I say put 28mm tires on there too for the fel and you will love that bike :)
I feel like people don't give the Roubaix enough credit... Especially weekend warriors thinking it won't keep up in a group ride. To your point, this is an awesome bike. If you're a solo rider that want's to go fast but wants additional comfort for those longer rides, this IS the bike for you. If you're constantly pushing for KOMs, looking to beat personal records by the seconds and ride pretty frequently, the Tarmac is more suited for you and still very comfortable. Great video bud! At this rate, you'll climb to 10k in 2-3 weeks. One suggestion if I may, you should look into getting a microphone that clips to your shirt or a different camera microphone for more consistently higher-quality audio. Depending on what you're doing in the video, sometimes due to the sound direction or your positioning to the mic, it gets slightly harder to hear you trying to explain something. Keep it up bud!
Agreed. I have a 2014 S-Works Roubaix disc brake 61cm. I love this thing. Really want a real aero bike like a venge but can’t bring myself to let this one go.
Bought the Roubaix in 2018 after a major crash involving a lot of broken bones. The future shock and the ability to run 32mm tires was the main reason. Upgraded the wheels, dropped the stack to the min and can ride in comfort while in the drops and keep pace with any group and pull out front for my rotation. Great bike and will definitely be upgrading to another Roubaix in the future.
I bought the 2020 expert Roubaix and had no trouble keeping up with friends that have “faster” bikes. This bike is fast af and whoever says otherwise is a snob that hasn’t tried one. I love this bike.
I also bought this bike 4 months ago. And I'm really happy. If your leg allows it, you can easily travel 37-38 km now The futur shock is really useful on downhill runs with holes I recommend it The only difficulty is the sensitivity to crosswind
Good explanation towards the end about comfort. I've been eyeing an endurance bike for a while now and while I'm infatuated with the Canyon Endurace, Specialized showed up again on my radar and I wanna check out the Roubaix because I love the idea of integrated "suspension" in the interest of comfort. I'm 43 years old and have been cycling on and off for around 5 years and I wanna get faster, hence the switch from a hybrid to a road bike. But in the end, you have to build up resistance to riding because no matter how great the bike is, if your body isn't ready for it, even a beach cruiser is gonna beat you up after a good ride. But if I were to buy a Specialized, I still want the Roubaix.
yea!!! the bike wil help and make the ride more enjoyable then any other bike but if you are not riding then no mater what u are gonna be soar, but the roubaix is a top tier endurance bike
I’m late to the party on this one, but I agree, the Roubaix is mega comfy. I’m had mine for about 9 months and it never causes me any issues. My only gripe is that it you need to spend $20K AUD for a 7.3kg model. Mine weighs a kilogram more. I like to ride fast so I’ll probably buy a Tarmac as well for a more lightweight option.
They’re both phenomenal bikes. I’ve ridden both extensively. The geometry, gearing and stiffness of the Tarmac are hands down faster, and make you feel like your capable of maintaining top end speed for a long duration. On the other hand, the Roubaix will, in all likelihood, be the most comfortable bike you’ve ever ridden. The easier Roubaix gearing is very noticeable, comparatively. A Team Roubaix would be a special build worth considering. It’s a needs vs wants decision between the two. I’m all for pushing a race bike, like the Tarmac, for as long as my body will let me.
dudeeee you know how bad I want to see the roubaix team biek in person.... one that bike looked so badass when they reviewed that on some website lol but the way they had it setup, slammed stem white clx 50 logos and cotton tires, the bike looked so mean with that paint job, I want to see one in real life, I think that bike is so cool
@@GCPerformance18 Yep... it was GCN. "Sagan's Roubaix" is the epitome of the Team build. Love it with the Venge stem, non-hover bar, CLX50's, 33mm Turbo Cottons, etc... it's spectacular.
@@juanpadilla8808 I agree everyone I sell a roubaix to, they always come back with the biggest grin on there afce and say how happy they were with there decision they made
GC Performance definitely did. Next step is 50mm aero wheels and aero drop bar and that should be good enough. Mine weight in 20lb with pedals and bottle cages. 56cm. I posted it on my channel. Thinking of going with FARSPORTS CARBON FIBER WHEELSET 50MM (DISC BRAKE)
Hey Bro, Thanks so much for this awesome vid, just about to buy the 2021 Roubaix Expert in black at the local shop. I had to wait a while until they had one in stock. Apparently, the 2021 Expert has aluminum wheels instead of the carbon wheels, still has the Di2, and a lower price at $4600.00 USD. This bike shortage is crazy, the shop told me people are lining up to buy bikes, and they have very few in stock to sell, crazy times my friend, stay safe and healthy... Be well....
yea it is insane to get a bike if you find one that your interested in dont wait and just grab it, and yea the bike is 4600 where as the expert before was 6000 but yoiu can also order c38 wheels for ti I think they retail for 1300 and that should bring the price right back up and I believe c38 wheels are in stock :)
Did you by any chance buy (and return) your bike at Velocipede in Mission Bay (SF)? Your story sounds like the one my LBS told me, and they had one Expert come back from someone who changed their mind.
Thanks for the info. I am buying a new bike and choosing between Domane SL5 and Roubaix sport or the Diverge has been a difficult choice, I will test both the Roubaix and the Diverge this week end. But now I know what to look for. Thanks for you time.
@@GCPerformance18 I ended up buying the Roubaix and did my first ever 50 miles ride, such a comfy bike. I’m not even soar or tired, will definitely ride faster and longer now. Thanks for your video.
I have a 2020 Specialized Roubaix expert and it's badass and very comfortable and fast. I love it specially the 2.0 future shock. This bike is way updated than any bike.
Very informative - thank you! It sounds like the latest models of these bikes are not night and day different any more... The Roubaix has similar geometry and aero design. Meanwhile, I read Tarmacs are compliant and the SL7 can even fit 32mm tyres if you want comfort. I think most weekend riders would be very happy with either of these bikes.
yea you are very correct, like a couple years ago the roubaix and tarmac where night and day different where the roubaix had a massive head tube and also the zerts on the rear stays made that bike tall and long, but now there almost identical in geo but you have the option to raise it more to get higher and also the future shock really....... it is crazy where we came from
@@GCPerformance18 being a Roubaix owner with a 2.0 future shock it would be interesting to see a weight comparison between a 1.5, 2.0, and 3.0 series of future shocks. Thanks in advance.
I love the Roubaix and I have the same exact bike. Do you think that the SL7 tarmac aero bars will fit the Roubaix? I like the cockpit of the a tarmac and if I could have aero bars on the Roubaix I believe it would look even better.
yes the bars will fit but it cant take the integrated part into the stem and headset, but the cables can be installed internally on the handlebars and then you can have minimal cables showing
Got the 2020 S Works Roubaix. Sometimes I wonder what the tarmac would feel like, but after just going around the block.. I made the right choice. Such a joy to ride. But that damn aethos is now at the back of my mind.
Loving your channel. Last year I bought a 2020 roubaix comp di2. I then put Roval cl38 carbon wheels on and run tubeless. It’s soo smooth on English country roads. I think that if i had a stiffer bike I probably wouldn’t ride it as much. It’s fast and comfortable. 👍
Wow. First ride. So smooth! I took it super easy as I have a sore knee. And still set PR’s. Love the SRAM gearing! It dropped the chain a few times. So back for a tuneup.. I LOVE IT!!
Because my dad already has the SL7 Pro Sram, same frame size, and I have ridden his. As soon as I rode it I decided it was time to part with the Roubaix.
I went to my LBS after watching your video of the diverge comp carbon and left wanting the roubaix instead. I’m looking for a good road bike that can do some light gravel. Will you do a video on the 2021 roubaix expert? Your videos are the best!
Thanks so much I did a video on the 2020 Roubaix expert, you can fit a 700x 33 tire on the Roubaix. I think it’s one of the best bikes you can buy for a do everything bike
Sounds like the Roubaix is the better all around bike or like the new "All-road" category, while the Tarmac is better for a specific purpose, if you want to do one thing and do it best or you already have an all-road or gravel bike and want something that is going to be significantly faster for racing and on group rides that stick to good pavement. I'm getting into road with an all-road/gravel style bike that I intend to swap tires on depending on what I want to do with it and the time of the year but can certainly see myself having an interest in getting something like a Tarmac down the line that is going to perform a lot better on pure road riding.
Your body position is infinitely more important than how "aero" the frame is. You'd always be faster on a Tarmac than a Roubaix on smooth surfaces (same size bike and optimised fit).
Excellent Vid👌👌 Even though guess putting some great tubeless wheels with wide rims (Enve AR‘s for example) and running them with 30mm tires on the Tarmac will give you a very plush ride without sacrificing the Aero Story. By the way - you just need to ride more - well said 👍 That’s it!
yea making wide tires and tubeless wil make any biek these days comfortable, and lol thanks.... thats the biggest issue I have is people will come in and complain about a 30 mile ride they did and I was like when was the last time you rode and they will say like a month or two, and I just say obviously your gonna be soar
Looking at both these models in the Rival groupset. I'm 220-230lbs (working my way down to 200lbs) and currently ride a 2018 diverge E5 comp, on the road and never on the dirt. Every ride usually consist of around 2000+ ft of climbing usually 27 mile solo rides and every now and then I'll ride with a group. I will also throw in a 50 to 100 mile ride. So far with my schedule I only ride around 3000 miles a year. I'm worried with the Roubaix I wouldn't really feel any difference in ride compared to if I got the SL7 with 32mm wheels and more comfortable ride since I don't race. Or am I thinking crazy and the 2022 Robaix rival would be a huge difference compared to my current 2018 Diverge E5. Thanks for any input and the great videos...
you will notcie a really big difference going to a carbon roubaix it will be lighter and way more comfortable and the future shock is a huge upgrade being a 2.0 plus the shifting will be nigh and day. the roubaix is still a race bike they use in races so you can outfit it with some nice wheels and also some skinny tires and the bike will cruise
Great Vid - Sworks Roubaix vs Sworks SL7 Tarmac comparison, is this needed or would you stress the same points…Fact 12r vs. 11r - Aside from weight, what else differs…considering upgrading from an sworks SL6 Tarmac
I’m almost positive you can. Like 99 percent because I’ve changed them before and there’s no difference but ask your local bike shop before you do it and have them call specilaized first
Great timing on this video. I've been eyeing both the Roubaix and Tarmac. Just waiting for my LBS to get some in stock to test ride but I have been leaning towards Tarmac. How about a video on how to pick the correct sized frame? I find size charts aren't always accurate. On Specialized sizing charts I'm a 52" but if I use Retul I'm a 49. How do I choose?
I drove a couple hours to ride an SL7. So glad I did. I was blown away and currently have one on order (specifically the Pro 1x seen here, but in a 58). I sound like a broken record by now but GC Performance was the channel that made me investigate the SL7 more and I'm so thankful for that. Sure I watched other videos but his breakdowns are so thorough.
@@afterburn2600 Thanks so much for that, and yea I mean I do sell specialzied but I have had them at my storee for over 20 years and im a big fan of there product they do a great job on there bikes and I love there bikes!!!
@@GCPerformance18 Height (166cm), Inseam (77cm), knee height (43cm), ankle height (10cm). If I reference the Specialized chart which only goes by height, it recommends a 52. However, if you click on the "find my size" link which takes you to Retul site, it recommends a 49. Any tips/recommendation video's on what to do on bike sizing would be helpful. My LBS telling me to go with 52 and said not to use Retul, which doesn't seem correct. What would you recommend? I'd come down to your shop but a little too far unfortunately.
@@mikejaneiro I did the same thing and by height it also recommends a 52, but with the additional measurements, it gives me a 49 also, which is what I always thought. I'm short, 5'6'' 167cm, and from all I've read online, it's easier to make a small bike larger than to make a large bike smaller. But that measurement is correct for me because after comparing measurements with my current bike, even though it is a hybrid, those 49cm(2XS as per Canyon) are right on the money. I agree that it's always better to go a little smaller.
When you measured it appeared the frame stack difference was only 5mm, and total stack a bit more mostly due to the 15mm rise Hover bar on the Roubaix. Comparing the published geometry between the Roubaix and Tarmac in my size (58) shows a 49mm lower stack on the Tarmac. Can you explain what's different in how you measured versus how Specialized publishes it?
What are you measuring the headtube for while talking about frame size?! Are you saying these frames are the same geo (because they have not at all the same) or am I missing your point?
Love your channel, way more honest and responsive than most of the other bike reviews. Would be nice to see a couple road tests. BTW - Could you please drop a comment on your thoughts between the 2021 Tarmac SL7 Pro vs 2021 Pinarello Prince FX?
Thanks so much and I appreciate the support, I would love to get some road tests too but as of right now I dont own any of those bikes lmao, They are just the stores stock, hopefully I can get big enough to wear specialized sends them to me to try out, thats my goal, on the prince... I saw one for a little bit but I m going to go back to my friends store he has pinarello and im going to check them out and do some videos there maybe even do what your asking and compare the two against one another..... But I will dome research and get back to you..... btw.... tarmac pro because im bias lmao
Great video! GC Performance, slightly off-topic do you know if the SL7 stem would fit the SL6 Tarmac without looking strange? want a nice stem to go with the Aerofly bars I want to put on.
I know you can but I don’t know how it would look, because the tarmac stem is curry wide base to I don’t know how it would look sitting on top of circle spacers
GC Performance I thought the same. Any ideas what stem that looks a bit more aero would work with the aerofly’s + SL6 find the s works S.L. stem looks a bit skinny. Thanks very much
no not to heavy at all now that they have added in the aero qualitys to it and that once you get up to speed you are able to maintain it easier because of the aerodynamics making the bike very easy to ride
What you think about the Roubaix Sl4 Sport 2017 (rim brakes) for crit races? I am from Brazil and the roads aren't good. I have a old alloy frame whit classisc geometry. I will gain stiffness with Roubaix? The bike I'm interested in comes with 50mm carbon wheels.
Great review! I have an SL6 Tarmac Pro. Love it, but Beats me up after 2 hours in the saddle. How much more comfortable is an S Works Roubaix, especially in the seat? Thx
What do you think about BMC Roadmachine in comparation with the Specielized Roubaix? What do you think about the BMC Teammachine in comparation with the Specielized Tarmac? Thanks.
So torn man! My LBS has a tarmac sl7 expert which i have a deposit on. My first love is probably the Roubaix but they're sold out for 2021. I'd have to adjust the stem on the sl7 to 10° and 90 mm based on my recent bike fit #s. I'm so torn. Do I change the stem and add my rovals with 30mm tubeless or do I wait for a Roubaix or aethos pro or go to like a cervelo Caledonia. HELP ME 🤣🤣
Worth pointing out that there is a "Team Edition" S-Works Roubaix which slams the geo (noticeably shorter head tube) to make it identical to a Tarmac. It's a frame-only option, but if you've got the dosh to throw around for an S-Works and think you might want more plushness but want minimal aero sacrifices then the Team Edition is the ticket.
I like this video, different than the others I have seen. Although he mentions the 1.5cm spacers you can add below the Roubaix, did not show the differences in the stack between the two.
@@GCPerformance18 Hi, thanks for your reply! I was not referring to the spacers and was referring to the stack of the frames. For example, a 54cm Roubaix has a stack of 585mm, whereas for a similar size Tarmac, it is 534mm, which is a significant difference (for me). Thanks for your informative video.
I am 6'4" and currently have Specialized Allez Sport - 5 years old now.. and now looking to upgrade to Tarmac SL6 Sport or Roubeix Sport. I like to do longer rides 40-60mile rides twice a week and at least 100mile ride monthly. I felt I am never fast enough on Allez. I am not looking to do racing and don't track seconds but always felt someone was always faster than me, especially climbing, maybe because I am just 220pounds, although I am in a very good shape. I love the idea of Roubeix but worried of granpa bike image, and that will spend all this money and will not improve any speed. Really been struggling between the two. The other thing I am concerned is that Roubeix from some reviews I noticed to break down, especially the shock mechanism. Any suggestions? I just want a bike that will give me more value than Allez and I can pick up some speed but I don't need to be first.
look at the specialized aethos, it is such a nice bike for the money and one of the lightest bikes out on the market... you get a speed machine at a more relaxed ride then the tarmac and also not so upright as the roubaix it is so comfortable
@@GCPerformance18 thanks so much, but Aethos is out of my price range. my sweet spot is about $3200 and I found both SL6 sport and Roubeix available so just need to make a decision. almost impossible to find a bike available my size.. any thoughts how to break the decision? any help would be grateful as I been thinking on this for weeks now
for non bumpy roads, 30-50 miles rides, would you recommend Roubaix vs Tarmac SL7? I’m not so sure about needing the future shock and the non integrated stem/cables or the roubaix? how much wide wheels can the SL7 fits? thanks
Non bumpy roads go sl7 you sill be very comfortable and throw some 700x28s on there. I believe you can put 30s on there but the sl7 is still a comfy bike
Thanks for a great review. I was looking at the Roubaix but afraid of a few things including the granny name as well as the future shock's impact. I am convinced the bike is a perfect replacement for my secteur, the alu Roubaix of years back. Now I was looking at the prices and noted the big gap between the 105 (sport) and ultegra version. I would be opting for the 105 sport version but was looking for some feedback on this particular choice from other's experience. Anyone experience to share? Thx.
Additional question: here in Belgium I live near the hills of the tour of Flanders. How does it ride on the hills? Is it a good climbing bike given the future shock system and the weight?
yea the future shock is great and you will have no problem with climbing and between 105 and ultegra it is very minimal in the differences, honestly it would just be the weight and that is very minimal you will like th e105 model alot, and the crank on roubaixs are all compacts so they come with a 50-34 so there should be no worries about climbing
Hi. I am a mountain biker and about to buy a road bike for the very first time. I have my eyes on the roubaix comp 2020 for the comfort but the tarmac sl6/sl7 looks very juicy for racing. What would you recommend?
go tarmac sl6 its the best of both worlds sl6 is super aero and very fast but one of the most comfrotable race bikes out there, not as stiff and aggressive as the sl7 but not as endurance as the roubaix its the perfect bike
Have an old Allez elite that I love and am looking to (finally) upgrade and am struggling to decide between the Roubaix and Tarmac. Leaning heavily towards the tarmac as while I get out three to four times per week, I’m rarely in the saddle more than two hours at any one time. I typically only do one or two 70-100 mile rides/year. I love speed and climbing so given the above thinking the Tarmac will be a riot. Looking at the geo it seems pretty close to my Allez.
yea go for the tarmac it wil be nothing but more comfortable then your allez but still with that snappy get up feel. If you been doing those rides on that allez then you will be more then fine with the tarmac :))
Hello Sir, is it a good idea to build up a s works roubaix team edition. It Cost 3k in Germany. And which parts do you would use. I normally Just want to use it for rosds or maybe bicyle way. I am new comer. Is the Team verion a little more relaxed and fits an 57 to my Body. 180.5 cm tall 59 armlenght and 85 Leg lenght. Or you would recommsnd. Normal one for newer person Font wana drive races Just wana have fun and be fast and Bit comfortble. Tell me where i can donate
@@GCPerformance18 and the size will fit good? And this Bike will still feel little more comfortble than the tarmac and about the upper body is more straight or not. And can you tell me good parts which you would choose
Buy the roubaix if you have back issues, or any issue that decreases comfort or mobility causing you to not have any fun on your rides (or if you wanna ride some nice gravel since you get the futureshock, 32mm tires and a clutch derailleur, or because you live in Toronto because the roads are rough, got 'em ;p (I'm from bc by the way). Otherwise go for the tarmac.
@@GCPerformance18 Yea i got to ride one before, the guys at my local shop are awesome. Let me ride one really nice bike rides fast. Lockout the shock and you won't even notice it if it does bib
I think that with the right choice of tyres and wheels and a proper fitting, the tarmac can be very comfy, for most of the people (as you said). I really like the idea behind the damping system of the Roubaix but at the same time, i don't see the necessity of it. It's not a straight up endurance bike, it's basically a really good race bike with more compliance for bad surfaced roads. I honestly really like the idea of your customer of using it almost as a gravel bike ! 😎
Yea you should see this thing it was a roubaix sport with the future shock and 105 and he put on c38 wheels and massive tires like 700x33 gravel tires and he loves it
So the reason for that is because that’s how the bikes come stock. I mentioned the spacers that you can raise it. But I was just showing the stock settings from a store because of bike stores don’t put the bike on the floor with the spacers on it
The Roubaix has two different future shock spacer caps as well a 15mm and a 0mm. You can add 5mm spacers to increase stack height on either the 15mm or 0mm cap. I am running the 0mm cap and a 5mm spacer.
depends on the guy who is riding it to be honest, they are very similar I think if you ride in a group with some friends and your all progressing at the same pace, it wouldn't matter what bike you rode tbh
@@sidneytan depends on how ur riding is but you can go either 54 or 52, 54 more comfortable and 52 more aggressive, just depends on what kind of riding you want to do
When talking about competition aspects like which bike is 'faster', always keep in mind: There is no rider who beats another rider on a tarmac which he wouldn't beat on a roubaix!
yea this is the truth, but if the the riders are the same or equal and one if tarmac and one is roubaix and the bike puts them into a more aero position and lower then in theory the rider on the tarmac should finish first from the aero advantage
Then roubiax wouldn't be label a granny bike if they would just give the same front stem and ergo style bar to it. It would look aggressive but yet comfortable
honestly I would have to take a look at your fit but I mean chekc cleat position and also if you have high arches and maybe some insoles to correct that...... check the archs first at a store and see if they have specialized arch support there
Had this bike Fell apart within two weeks on the gravel.. shocking system on it definitely more road based.. I have the digger factory now Excellent gravel bike solid

sailfly2008 thanks so much. I appreciate it!!!

If your leg allows it, you can easily travel 37-38 km now
The futur shock is really useful on downhill runs with holes
I recommend it
The only difficulty is the sensitivity to crosswind
The differences in speed are so ridiculously minimal anyway.
Iv taken one out and it’s the most comfortable bike I have ever been on. It’s amazing. It is so rigid but compliant at the same time.
I got the 2022 Roubaix and my friend that has the tarmac was struggling to keep up with me
Lol. Love this bike
I like to ride fast so I’ll probably buy a Tarmac as well for a more lightweight option.
thanks for wathing
Great comment on getting fit. & knowing more riding will get you in shape.
Yes! Thank you!

My roubaix comp 2021 is arriving in 3 days & im bouncing to take it out
Hey Bro, Thanks so much for this awesome vid, just about to buy the 2021 Roubaix Expert in black at the local shop.
Thanks for you time.

yea they did a good job with the roubaix!!!
gran reseña te lo agradezco mucho me despejaste todas las dudas que yo tenia
Very informative - thank you! It sounds like the latest models of these bikes are not night and day different any more... The Roubaix has similar geometry and aero design. Meanwhile, I read Tarmacs are compliant and the SL7 can even fit 32mm tyres if you want comfort. I think most weekend riders would be very happy with either of these bikes.
yea you are very correct, like a couple years ago the roubaix and tarmac where night and day different where the roubaix had a massive head tube and also the zerts on the rear stays made that bike tall and long, but now there almost identical in geo but you have the option to raise it more to get higher and also the future shock really....... it is crazy where we came from
Yes, the Tarmac SL7 is indeed compliant, more compliant than the Venge V3.

Great Video, but I'll go with the Tarmac any day. I want an aggressive and fast bike. But I am happy to know the Roubaix is no slouch either
Yea that’s what I’m here for and the tarmac doesn’t have to be so aggressive

Loving your channel. Last year I bought a 2020 roubaix comp di2. I then put Roval cl38 carbon wheels on and run tubeless. It’s soo smooth on English country roads. I think that if i had a stiffer bike I probably wouldn’t ride it as much. It’s fast and comfortable. 👍

Literally sold my 2020 Roubaix Comp to buy the SL7 Pro and couldn't be happier. Except for the fact that I have to wait some time until I get the SL7.
Lol very nice and yes it sucks playing the waiting game:)
Yea you literally have a bike thag you can do anything with and also compete in the group rides with buddies. It’s a very nice bike
👍
The Roubaix's more aero than the SL6 if I remember correctly, and I think lighter than the Venge.
Specialized marketing is second to none...
Yea but your stack and position on the roubaix is so high you negate those benefits.
Yes it is. That’s what I was told too but when I looked up specs on the dealer website it said “just as aero as the sl6” lol
Jaspreet Sidhu Exactly
GC Performance guiet sure those are the ones with the fastet bikes😂
Love my 2020 Roubaix carbon comp. Awesome fun and fast and comfortable. 🚴🏼🚴🏼👍

How do I choose?
how tall are you and are you more long legged or bigger torso, and thanks so much for checking out the channel
49mm lower stack?!?!?! that is crazy.... I dont knwo what they advertised just what I showed on the video with product in hand I am sorry for that
What are you measuring the headtube for while talking about frame size?! Are you saying these frames are the same geo (because they have not at all the same) or am I missing your point?
they are the same size bike
Love your channel, way more honest and responsive than most of the other bike reviews. Would be nice to see a couple road tests. BTW - Could you please drop a comment on your thoughts between the 2021 Tarmac SL7 Pro vs 2021 Pinarello Prince FX?

Great video! GC Performance, slightly off-topic do you know if the SL7 stem would fit the SL6 Tarmac without looking strange? want a nice stem to go with the Aerofly bars I want to put on.
I know you can but I don’t know how it would look, because the tarmac stem is curry wide base to I don’t know how it would look sitting on top of circle spacers
GC Performance I thought the same. Any ideas what stem that looks a bit more aero would work with the aerofly’s + SL6 find the s works S.L. stem looks a bit skinny. Thanks very much
Alex Lambert yes go with the zipp sprint stem or also the enve stem is a nice one. Easton stem. Also if you can find a pro stem they look good
GC Performance great thanks was looking at those just worried of the serious drop I am used to +6 degrees at the moment!
Hi! Thanks for your vidéo 👍🏼
Is the roubaix not too heavy to ride?compare to some others wich are about 7/8 kilos?
no not to heavy at all now that they have added in the aero qualitys to it and that once you get up to speed you are able to maintain it easier because of the aerodynamics making the bike very easy to ride
Thx
It’s a lot more compliant, def a lot more comfortable and easier to ride. The carbon seatpost has thag movement that makes it more comfortable
What do you think about BMC Roadmachine in comparation with the Specielized Roubaix? What do you think about the BMC Teammachine in comparation with the Specielized Tarmac? Thanks.
roubaix is more comfortable for sure and more endurance witht he future shock one of the most comfortable bikes out there
When looking at the geometry specs on the Roubaix. Does the "Stack" measurement allow for the 15mm height gain of the riser handle bar?
yes
So torn man! My LBS has a tarmac sl7 expert which i have a deposit on. My first love is probably the Roubaix but they're sold out for 2021. I'd have to adjust the stem on the sl7 to 10° and 90 mm based on my recent bike fit #s. I'm so torn. Do I change the stem and add my rovals with 30mm tubeless or do I wait for a Roubaix or aethos pro or go to like a cervelo Caledonia. HELP ME 🤣🤣
Go tarmac. It’s not that harsh of a ride and also 30mm tubeless will be riding like a couch
Worth pointing out that there is a "Team Edition" S-Works Roubaix which slams the geo (noticeably shorter head tube) to make it identical to a Tarmac. It's a frame-only option, but if you've got the dosh to throw around for an S-Works and think you might want more plushness but want minimal aero sacrifices then the Team Edition is the ticket.
oh yea I have seen thaty bike and it looks amazing I want that bike so bad, but unfortuyantly no one bought one around me
Great bike. Had one but was a bit too big. If I see a proper 57 size would buy it again
Do you think putting 30 or 32mm tires on the Tarmac would be about as comfortable as the Roubaix but still faster?
Yea 30s on a tarmac would be extremely comfortable but if you wanna be more up right go Roubaix
GC Performance you could just use another spacer or two on the Tarmac and be more upright.
@@scotth3354 butt hats how the forks come pre cut so you technically cant go any higher

@@GCPerformance18 Hi, thanks for your reply! I was not referring to the spacers and was referring to the stack of the frames.

I typically only do one or two 70-100 mile rides/year. I love speed and climbing so given the above thinking the Tarmac will be a riot. Looking at the geo it seems pretty close to my Allez.

The tarmac stem is as high as it can be where you measured it but the reubaix is just above the shock so as low as it can go
Do wonder how the team edition compares to the tarmac
So the reason for that is because that’s how the bikes come stock. I mentioned the spacers that you can raise it. But I was just showing the stock settings from a store because of bike stores don’t put the bike on the floor with the spacers on it
Very very similar, I think almost same geo, just with a future shock
The Roubaix has two different future shock spacer caps as well a 15mm and a 0mm. You can add 5mm spacers to increase stack height on either the 15mm or 0mm cap. I am running the 0mm cap and a 5mm spacer.
So how much faster do you think the Tarmac is?
depends on the guy who is riding it to be honest, they are very similar I think if you ride in a group with some friends and your all progressing at the same pace, it wouldn't matter what bike you rode tbh
How much do they weigh? Just curious..
I’ve done a video on both, check them out. I forget the exact weights of them.
Buy the sworks and drop it to 7kg and the roubaix is a proper racer
yes yes
Im 5’5” in height and what size do i need on robaix?
Size small 52 😁
@@GCPerformance18 I'm 5'7" with 76cm inseam. What size should I take ?
@@sidneytan depends on how ur riding is but you can go either 54 or 52, 54 more comfortable and 52 more aggressive, just depends on what kind of riding you want to do
@@GCPerformance18 Thanks. I like your video on the TARMAC SL7 and Roubaix. Thinking of getting the Tarmac soon.
@@sidneytan awesome thanks so much for chekcing out the video and I hope you pick the ride bike for you :))
The frame geometry looks like it is an upright bike but really it’s not. The handlebar and seat height are pretty much the same
When talking about competition aspects like which bike is 'faster', always keep in mind: There is no rider who beats another rider on a tarmac which he wouldn't beat on a roubaix!
yea this is the truth, but if the the riders are the same or equal and one if tarmac and one is roubaix and the bike puts them into a more aero position and lower then in theory the rider on the tarmac should finish first from the aero advantage
Then roubiax wouldn't be label a granny bike if they would just give the same front stem and ergo style bar to it. It would look aggressive but yet comfortable
Can Roubaix translate to gravel bike with gravel tires?
yes I have had a customer put 700x33 tires from specialized on his stock roubaix and rides it on gravel trails no problems
@@GCPerformance18 thanks for answer :)
Hi! Can I feet it 700*32c? Or 700*35c?
You can get a smooth 700x32 on there
@@GCPerformance18 Thanks.
I ride quite often (5 times per week) nothing hurts, but to my toes go numb after 1h30 ? Could. you know why?
honestly I would have to take a look at your fit but I mean chekc cleat position and also if you have high arches and maybe some insoles to correct that...... check the archs first at a store and see if they have specialized arch support there
Had this bike Fell apart within two weeks on the gravel.. shocking system on it definitely more road based.. I have the digger factory now Excellent gravel bike solid
Grandpas now days all ride Chromoly and gravel/touring :P
lmaooooo yea or titanium I have alot of customers who are older who all ride titanium
I'm on my online class but im watching this WAAHAHAHAAHA
Lmao get it dude. Graduate and buy those sworks lmao
@AG Coarseman facts
THANKS!!!
i have roubaix and its a good bike and confi on 100...
:)))))
The bikes are both awesome. But stop putting one bike with the drive side away from the camera. It doesn't present the bikes well.
okay point taken, I was thinking that for the last video but now i got some re assurance thanks
Not so lightweight. Both are heavier than their rim brake predecessors. Buy used.
okay then
I can’t believe I have a “grandad” bike 😭 I’m only 39
hahahhahaha I know right
Today I learned I’m a grandpa
lmao I was today years old when i learned I was a grandpa lol....... but thats just what losers say
Embrace your inner grampa... THere's no strava points for suffering...😬
Comfy is king
