  • The late, great Ronnie Spector joined Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band for three classic Ronnettes songs at the Palladium in New York City on November 4,1976. Bruce & the band backed up Ronnie on note perfect versions of Baby, I Love You, Walking In The Rain and Be My Baby. Sadly, no film of the momentous occasion seems to have been captured and there appears to only be one distant photo of Ronnie on stage with Bruce from this evening. I used whatever photos I could find while putting this clip together and for the final song, I used video of the Ronnettes appearance on American Bandstand. The good news is the audio from the entire show was preserved and, in fact, was just remastered in the best ever sound quality on the two-disc set 'Be My Baby - Live At The Palladium November 4, 1976 [The Ultimate Remaster]'. Ronnie had the voice of an angel. Rest in peace.

People don't understand that this is the perfect backing band for her. They understood that Tri-State sound.

A magical night many years ago. The shows came so fast and furious seeing as many as possible became my drug. After the show about twenty fans stood behind police barricades waiting for Bruce to exit the backstage door. A year later a friend gave me book he had found in a record store. It was called Bruce Springsteen a Photo Bio, by Anthony Scaduto. In the book was a photo of Bruce exiting the venue showing my 20 year old self along with other fans leaning over the barricades. The smiles on our faces were immeasurable.

Ronnie has been one of my biggest female role models, especially since I looked to her for strength and guidance as I was stuck with a man not unlike the monster she was married to. Also, I have had a life long love of Bruce & the E Street Band thanks to my uncle. This recording is full of hope, and not long ago, I wouldn’t have felt the same. Miracles and magic happen every day, and angels are everywhere. We all just need to believe beyond any shadow of a doubt. Thank you, Ronnie and Bruce & the band. You all are one of the reasons I decided not to allow myself to become just another statistic. ❤ Peace and blessings to all. ❤

I was there. Murray The K was the master of ceremonies and Southside Johnny's band backed her up. It was great!

I've had this on a vinyl boot since the 80s, and then got the Great Dance CD in 1990. By all accounts, this was a show for the ages. The band was in top shape and boy could Bruce put on a performance. It's My Life from this concert still gives me goosebumps. I envy you for being there. Three decades later, I went to the PC Richards that was in roughly the same location on 14th Street. NOT the same. :-)

I WAS THERE!!! My first Springsteen show. We got last minute tickets from ticketron (remember them?) when they released a few unsold single seats in the Palladium a few days before the show. We stood on the seats and screamed the words to the tunes. And yes, the first picture in this video is exactly how they looked. Bruce had just shaved off his beard and sang a few tunes from his yet-to-be released Darkness On The Edge Of Town. The Miami Horns played along on Tenth Ave Freezout. Later in life I got to play with a Springsteen tribute band and we re-created the version I heard at this show. ruclips.net/video/pVa5Gw7RtoQ/видео.html

Wow!! What a fantastic story. This was one of my first Springsteen boots back in the day and I absolutely loved this show. How great it must've been to see Bruce play such a tremendous show back when NYC was NYC.

Must have been a great show. Seen the Bruce and the ESB earlier in August of that year in Red Bank. The 1970's concerts in the smaller venues were the very best! Would also like to obtain this CD. Thanks for posting
