This being a Blockbuster exclusive explains why the guys at blockbuster were pushing this one back in the day when I was first getting into Cult films.
I actually got to work a local premiere of BS 2. Norman, Sean and Troy were all there for a Q&A after the movie. For those that might not know, Julie Benz takes over the William DaFoe-type role. A kid in the crowd asked Duffy for her number. Troy then dials it and hands the kid his phone. Kid turned ghost white, lol. She didn't answer, but then a voice from the back of the theater chimes up moments later, "Hunny, it's Julie!" She called back Troy's wife. Julie then joined the Q&A on speakerphone. It was a fun time. The guys were all cool, but Troy definitely had a cockiness about him. My buddy and I have a photo of the five of us giving the camera the finger. Seemed appropriate. 😆

2 years before Boondock Saints was Suicide Kings. I was introduced to both at the same time. Can’t help to think of one with out the other. Like to see you do one on the Suicide Kings. Good stuff man 🤘🏻😎
The Boondock saints is one of the most Underrated/ Badass 90s thrillers, and Norman Reedus & Sean Patrick Flanney kickass in their performance as the McManus brother "The Boondock Siants", also Wilem Dafoe & David Della Rocco are funny and entertaining in the film too, this movie is intense, funny, & Badass.... And it also great to see the film on St. Patrick day with Leprechaun films & Halloween 3: Season of the Witch.
I remember when I was in college, my roommate (who was very religious) suggested we watch it. I protested, thinking it was some Christian movie. I was definitely wrong, and for the time, it was such a cool film. Troy Duffy and Norman actually came to Kent State and did a Q and A. It was supposed to also have Patrick Flannery but didn't show for "personal reasons. It was entertaining, Duffy did most of the talking he was cussing trying to look cool, but it worked for his persona. Then they ended up hanging out at the local college bar that night, so of course, everyone went there. They just sat in the basement level of the bar and roped off the entrance to the stairs, they only let hot college girls down to see and "hang" with the guys. Norman got so drunk he ended up dancing on the bar and getting the cops called on him. I was shocked by how many people were also obsessed with the film at the time. so many people had the tattoos Veritas and whatever the other one was. It's definitely not the masterpiece I thought it was at the time, but it was still a great slice of pop culture that was a blast to watch. I've never seen the sequel, tho I refuse.
I loved this movie in college in the 2010s and I just rewatched it today and holy hell does this movie not hold up lol. I still had some fun but I can’t see myself watching this again. Rented it from a video store in Chinatown (Seattle area). The cover was all in Chinese kanji, so no idea what it was about. Loved it! It was like a Punisher film. I got to meet the brothers at Emerald City Comic con (this was before Walking Dead came out.) was surprised to see one of them was actually Irish.
Yikes, the head swelling was real. I mean, I can understand the impulse; going from an unknown trying to find success as a musician, to having big studios in a bidding war for his screenplay. Yeah, that could definitely mess with someone's self-assessment and give them a bit of an arrogance problem. Still shitty behaviour, and he got worse as time went on it seems, blaming everyone but himself for the way things were going, but you can see why it happened. Most likely he started out, before the attention even started, with a bit of an ego, which all the attention validated to the point that his ego swelled out of control. Basically, he was probably a bit of an egotistical ass before he got any attention, with a 'no-one understands my greatness' mentality or something, as his absurd behaviour doesn't make much sense otherwise. Plenty of people see unexpected success and _don't_ fly off the deep end, and certainly not as quickly. It parallels what you might see with someone who unexpectedly gets a large windfall of cash, like lottery winners. A lot of people end up squandering the opportunity because they don't really internalize that it's still a finite resource; it just seems like they can't fail because they've gotten so much latitude to work with. I vaguely remember liking the movie alright, though not appreciating it as much as its cult status might indicate. I don't remember liking the sequel as much? Not sure, it has been years since I watched them.

It’s a very angsty, digestible Fight Club. Both writers taking influence from saying “f u” to the 90s counterculture and politics. Fight Club is more about accepting growing up and life sucks while disrupting the establishment and BDS has a lot of undertones about the brothers being angels of death to god to.. dispute organized crime.
I love this movie. William Defoe was incredible in it- no one could've played Smecker better. The worst thing about the sequel is that Defoe isn't in it. The concept is brilliant. “ There…was…a…FIREFIGHT!!!!
To accurately explained what the fuck happened to the boondock saints you need more than 12 minutes my man. There is an entire documentary on this nightmare.
The Boondock Saints did not make $50 million in rentals at blockbuster 😂
F all the “dude bro” comments, this film spanned all cliques. It’s not a “dude bro” movie, it’s just a good movie.
Same with True Romance
This guy needs to enunciate better..
Duffy would probably make a pretty decent Hitman (DC comics) film
I see you are a man of culture. Sadly Garth Ennis himself told me that the odds of them doing a live action version is low as hell due to the gun violence in this country. Blatant murder char and all. Damn though, 20 odd years ago Chow Yun Fat as Ringo I'd love. Eric Stoltz as Pat.
@@JnEricsonx Ice Cube as Nat the Hat!
WTF and who is JoBlo Originals?
I can wait a few years before the pollictical correctness and forced diversity is over.
A third movie like the first one isn't possible in todays entertainment industry.
I don't want two black lesbian mary sue girlbosses play the twins.
Seriously it was a great movie
You really missed the prime time to upload this video considering that St. Patrick's Day was literally last week...
When I first heard of this movie I was told by friends that it had been banned in the US, lending the movie a bit of 'dangerous' cred and explaining why I had never heard of it. I loved it when I first watched it, but some parts of this movie have not aged well.
If you don't like this movie I can only conclude that you don't know how to watch a film for the purpose of being entertained.
"Is it dead? 😶"
get this part 3 lad of the boondocks
I buy rope now just because of this movie.
Narrator sounds like he’s “half Irish” slurring his words at times throughout the video.
