    Who is next after Sania Mirza in India?
    Literally no one..!!!
    That's the void she gonna make after her retirement.
    She was a true legend. After P.T Usha, she was the most iconic women superstar in India.
    Bold , beautiful and talented.
    Her forehand shots were fabulous. And that was her strength.

    Sania Mirza is a tennis star of the highest calibre, and she got there with no scandals, drama or controversy. She has quiet confidence in her abilities, and has little need for showmanship or adulation. This is the kind of person that results from parents who instil the proper values needed for a successful life.

      @Carlo Al: She was a very capable player (what a forehand she had). She broke into top 40 in just a year (from 2004-05). I remember I was only 6 yrs old that time (3rd rnd at the aussie open) and the country was driven crazy.
      Everyone thought she would keep improving and give india a grand slam trophy (singles). But her fitness and serve let are down. I agree with Carlo on this. But staying in India she got all the facilities too but she didn't envision or desire to give the extra yard. That's the biggest problem I have with her.
      Think of Leander Paes too (he won the wimbledon boys title and spent his time behind Navratilova). He was so engrossed in doubles he destroyed his singles career (could have made india a tennis superpower by now had these two delivered).

    she was good but never really got proper coaches and should not have gone into doubles. That just destoys your singles game. Also, the interest in power and concentrating on one or two shots have destroyed many promising players.

    • @TheKansen
      @TheKansen 2 года назад +6

      She went into doubles because of a chronic knee injury. She was advised to stop playing tennis altogether. Instead she decided to stop singles and focus on doubles. That was the best decision she made. Later Martin Hingis reached out and asked to pair up. The rest is history.

      @@TheKansen Ok. I am biased, sorry. Don't like doubles. Plus Nadal has been battling knee and foot injuries since the start. Stayed in singles. Will check how she got both knees injured. And coaching could have helped with her injuries by altering her playing style. My point is, she didn't have good coaching and that destroys your game.

Everyone have personal choices, u must respect it
