@@TheStrGzr-zq1qq Says right in the rule book about first turn players. You absolutely cannot draw a 6th card. Reason is simple, you have an extra advantage. Both players draw 5 cards in the beginning of the game but the first turn player does not have a draw phase until their next turn. Going first in most cases ( not all), gives you the upper hand in the duel depending on what kind of deck that you run. Being able to lay down trap cards on your first turn which you can then use as soon as your opponent draws immediately changes the course of the duel. So in order to make up for your opponent's disadvantage of going second, they get to have a card advantage over you on their turn while the first turn player has a potential field advantage right from the start. First turn player is never allowed to attack first because the opponent's field hasn't even been set yet. That is also in the rule book. These rules have existed since the very beginning. I can tolerate synchro and xyz, it's actually fun to play sometimes, but pendulum and link... My brain doesn't allow me to understand how it works because it doesn't want me to play these cards
Just walls of text that never should have existed. Pendulums just spam summoned and sped up the game too much. Links slowed them down but let you lock out an opponent and then undid the slowing when really broken monsters like firewall dragon were released. Now links aren't needed though unless you play pendulum so they just need to limit cards that negate and slow down the game by limiting but not banning cards
I am convinced that Cimo has secretly given us the greatest deck to ever exist. All you need to do is use that cards specifically shown in this video to build that deck
there is also speed duels, its the same as duel links, and its more easy than current yugioh, also you could play the different old formats people made
You don't need to play all of these new cards. Just use you old decks with the old rules if you want to. Also it's not that complicated. Thank you for this! My partner sent me this because I started and stopped following Yugioh since the OG times when it was all about Fusions and Rituals. Anything beyond that was way too overwhelming. This helps simplify it a lot!

Also great editing on this one, really clarifies instances and makes the course of thought easier to follow. Thanks for the video!

Very few archetype try to solve that problem with either like shadoll that do not need there flipp effects to use effects (and the fusions obviously) or guro control which have countless ways to flipp there 1 guy up and down and the rest are just traps cause flipp on its own still remains trash and needs have a deck with a hole bunch of good cards that can do stuff without flipp eff in order for them to be somewhat playable.

I stopped seriously playing after highschool and since i wasn't watching recent anime seasons, lost touch with new monster types. You did a great job explaining it all and i feel refreshed. I even learned something new. I never knew u weren't supposed to not draw on ur first turn even at tournaments guys didn't do that
The best way to get into the game as a beginner is to buy 3 of the same structure deck. Why? Because that way you have full playsets 3/3 of the cards your deck needs and you have the liberty of deciding if you want to use 2 of this or 3 of that, and what feels better. You can pick any structure deck you want, granted the more recent ones have the better staple cards. You could get shaddoll, salamangreat, cyberse, geargia, dragon, synchron, lair of darkness, zombie horde, dinosaur, hero, dark world. Those are all very good options. Endymion is a good option too, if you are willing to play pendulum which many players find complicated. Grab 3 copies of any of those and then find out online what cards make your deck stronger, and buy those cards as singles as your budget allows. Go find your local yugioh card shop (when you can!!) and have fun! I would recommend having at least two kinds of decks. One that plays slower and more reactive/punishing and one "combo deck" that makes "boss monsters" and unbreakable boards. That way you can experience everything the game has to offer.
Just a reminder about one rule. If a card says it does a thing in its effect, it does it regardless of normal rules. For instance, you normally can't draw outside of your Draw Phase. However, should you activate the trap card Jar of Greed, which lets you draw a card, you draw a card even though it's not the Draw Phase of your turn.
This one video has given me more instruction and honest play then any of my nearly 24 years of playing the game and having to learn through trial and error most of the time i ask people how to play and they flat out lied to me on how certian effects or how gameplay works for certian things thank you man i love your channel and its nice to see true honest people in the game i still love the game and the show
@@leonardoodranoel4086 against a lot of decks that's only 2 negates anyway. Once the player negates something, Mist Valley Thunderbird is summoned and no longer protected in the s/t zone, and since it has low attack, it's easy to get rid of it after the 1 negate. @@admontblanc still 3 negates in that case and you sacrifice the battle phase so how you gonna get rid of the 2 infinitys? @@leonardoodranoel4086 2 negates and lost bp if you're not maining blowout cards, post side it's easy to counter, even chaining something like forbidden chalice or a quick play removal on the thunderbird will break the combo as avian can only use the effect once per chain. As for that field, I've seen lots of people talking about Avramax to protect the board, or infinity as you said, but you'll be lucky to pull out just the bird combo even without interruption, much less end on a board that can really keep up the loop. In short, there are no decks atm that can consitently do more than bird combo, and there are plenty of decks that can break it.

Also, RUclips the deck name for combos/how to play. Gl
it's officially above the gy, most times the event organizers are just lenient with where you put them because everyone is just too used to place them somewhere else, but that doesn't mean you can place banished cards just anywhere since players have access to see which or how many cards are there (except face down banished cards which players can only see how many of those their opponent has).
I'm new to this game, thank you so flipping much this is exactly what I needed. I don't know why people were making jokes about how hard this is to learn, it actually looks quite easy.
As a complete beginner, this is the best video I've found so far! I was left with some few questions from someone who is only on episode 57 from Duel monsters and have just found the game became a whole new thing: 1 - Can I attack my own monsters? 2 - How many cards can I flip from one position to another per turn and is it done only on MP2? If so, Can I flip monsters that attacked or were attacked that turn? 3 - Can I tribute face down cards to normal summon monsters and pendulum monsters and special summon other kinds of monsters like link, fusion, ritual and synchro? 4 - Can I use face down cards as Xyz materials? If so, do I flip them up? 5 - Can I tribute any monster to normal summon a level 4 or lower monster on its place? 6 - Can I use pendulum summon to summon Synchro monsters? Link and Xyz monsters dont have levels, so I suppose I can't pendulum summon them. 7 - Can I move a pendulum monster from the trap zone to the Extra monster zone or main monster zone (If I have a link pointing to that place)? If so, In which phase can I do that? 7 - Can I create an extra pendulum zone in the main monster zone using the link arrows? 8 - If a link arrow is pointing down to a spell zone space, can I summon a link monster or pendulum monster down there? Thanks in advance!
1. No 2. As many as you want as long as it isn't the turn you summoned it or you already changed the position and it can be done in either main phase 3. You can tribute summon with face downs and use face downs for fusion but not the others 4. Have to flip them up 5. Level 4 or lower don't need a tribute 6. Pendulum summoning summons monsters from hand or other pendulum monsters in the extra deck (so no) 7. If you have a pendulum monster in the spell/trap zone you can't move it 8. No
This video is so helpful I stop playing Yughio when the first anime finish and decide to go back to it this year while lock down on and o just go confused by how much has changed
1. Spell speed 4 does not exist, it is just not a thing. 2. Missing the timing is called knowing problem solving card text and that is not needed to play yugioh and straight up doesn't fit into a video like this that just scratches the surface of just how in basic terms to play the game. 3. Start, damage and end steps are steps and not phases. If you want to have the steps explained you also have to explain priority and how it works as it heavily effects those steps. The steps themselves are complex enough to do a at least 30 minute video about it not to mention the steps the battle phase has which in itself can be broken down In a separate 20 to 30 minute video. As this is a video that just gives a breef look of how in basic terms to play yugioh there is no space for things like that.

I was a Yu-Gi-Oh player once long long ago and was pretty good at it. Then I took like ten years off and wanted to jump back into it. It's so helpful that there is a clear guide like this to really help us returning players catch back up with the new updated zones, rules, and types. Much appreciated
And also : watch your opponent combo for 10 minutes
Then spam 2 evenly matched or lighting storms :b

it's actually playing solitaire for 10 minutes and 45 seconds
Yugioh The Gathering straight up
And then drop some of these guys: evenly lightning storm sphere mode nibiru dark ruler kaijus and watch him cry :)

2 questions: one - since when have first players to go NOT drawn on the first move?... and b - did he not mention that the first to go can't attack on the first move, or is this some trade off I've never known of since Eternal Duelist Soul on the GBA?
Real Yu Gi Oh is not TV show or old-school video game Yu Gi Oh

You are allowed not to play any Pendulums or Links. Its mastet rule 5 after all.

Yep its sad the game I used to love has been reduced to first turn knock out/ first turn checkmate. Its boring to play and watch.
You forgot about the hand traps
Yea if your opponent goes first and sets up a full board you pretty much lose if you don’t draw the right cards, then you have to make sure you’re opponent is following the correct rules as they’re setting up the board so you don’t get cheated, this happens a lot at locals.
@@Demiurge66 I see. Sounds like a waste of money, time and human intelligence. Honestly im sad the game I grew up playing is ruined. I miss deck building and play testing on dueling network for hours and just scrowling through DN to find some crazy tech for my deck/archetype. I know I could do that now but... If Konami comes to their senses and makes turn base playing a thing again ill come back to the scene. This first turn wall is just too lame, the idea of not openning up what you need first turn to be able to put up a fight is frustrating. Needing dice roll and the correct hand first turn to win most games, not my cup of tea.

As someone who more or less knows how to play Yu-Gi-Oh, so much of this stuff I just take for granted... but seeing and hearing a near 18 minute guide explaining everything in detail makes me appreciate just how sophisticated this game really is.
Indeed. it all feels intuitive but I can imagine how challenging this would look for a new player
Sophisticated or needlessly complex? I think it’s 50/50 these past years.
Is funny how one doesn't realize how complex and "nonesensical" the basic rules of th game are, 'cause we've been playing it all this time. Good thing there now are videos like this for new players. Great job Cimo.

Thank you for this! My partner sent me this because I started and stopped following Yugioh since the OG times when it was all about Fusions and Rituals. Anything beyond that was way too overwhelming. This helps simplify it a lot!

Best Beginner Decks in Yu-Gi-Oh! in 2020!
Maybe split it into 3 videos, with deck profile and combo guides in each?
I would say Generic Cyberse is a solid beginner deck. Easy to pilot, can get some fun combos off, the main issue is it has basically no recovery.
Andrew Foose honestly, the best way to win is to make your own deck, so the best way to start is just trial and error
As a returning vet, this was very informative. I had no idea of the existance of link or shynro monsters. Cheers mate!

Well in the world championship tournaments they have zones.
it's officially above the gy, most times the event organizers are just lenient with where you put them because everyone is just too used to place them somewhere else, but that doesn't mean you can place banished cards just anywhere since players have access to see which or how many cards are there (except face down banished cards which players can only see how many of those their opponent has).
This is really useful as a refresher for returning players who only stopped around 3 to 4 years ago

5 - Can I tribute any monster to normal summon a level 4 or lower monster on its place?

2. As many as you want as long as it isn't the turn you summoned it or you already changed the position and it can be done in either main phase
3. You can tribute summon with face downs and use face downs for fusion but not the others
4. Have to flip them up
5. Level 4 or lower don't need a tribute
6. Pendulum summoning summons monsters from hand or other pendulum monsters in the extra deck (so no)
7. If you have a pendulum monster in the spell/trap zone you can't move it
8. No
This video is so helpful I stop playing Yughio when the first anime finish and decide to go back to it this year while lock down on and o just go confused by how much has changed
Get the Link Evolution video game.
Now that you master the basic of Yugi Oh!, it's time to head over to your locals...
"Oh."
...next year, once the Pandemic is over!
Where's spell speed 4?? Where's maboi miss the timing?? Where's the Damage step?? Jk luv ur vids!
whoa whoa whoa, slow down, he's trying to teach people not make their heads hurt.
Thank you for making me realize I do not want to get into Yu-Gi-Oh!
Try it, it's fun. Just ignore the comments.
This helped a lot but since I am new to this I might need to watch it 1 trillion times
As someone who is starting to get back into the game after a long time, thank your for breaking everything down so understandably.
