Last story, the idiots of the parent company should blame themselves for not getting rid of a cancer that they already knew existed.
True or they were looking for a way to get rid of that jerk 🤔
Some times you have to let that cancer run a while to cut it out. That way you have legal footing to fire him with out any breech of contract having to pay out any bonuses, severance pay yadda yadda yadda. In end its cheaper to keep the clown on for a bit then to just out right can him.

Third story, OP's needs out of the company asap, the fact the wasn't fired of the both the refusal to comply with reporting standard AND promotion of as hostiles work environment long before the cooking of the books was found is huge red flags, is means his did in front of OP's boss, the not like the was a lack of proof!
he tried to get OP fired for his errors and his boss was show proof he was at falus and still wasn't fired hostile work place but instead was "mollifed" by essasstion that OP not soon their job but shift it onto someone else...
The DM sounds like a decent person. Understandably angry that he got embarrassed, but quickly explaining that it was not OP's fault.

My insight was from meeting people at the executive level that I realised a lot of them got to where they are through office politics and hiring the right people to do the hard work for them.

That last story the company should have sued him for all that and gotten his bonuses back from him. Someone else that failed his way to the top.
The last story was satisfying. It showed, yet again, that when someone is behaving like a POS at work, they are almost certainly doing something unethical and/or illegal. It's been repeatedly shown that when someone behaves like an AH in one area, they are likely misbehaving in other areas as well. For example, every racist I've ever come across also indulges in other "hobbies"', such as petty theft, fraud or domestic abuse. All the bluster and bullying and fingerpointing is deflection and projection, to cover up something and turn attention away from their own wrongdoings by targeting others.
Lol even women don't want to work for women. As the a/h lady thought she was the boss.
*Last Story:* They should have went "scorched earth" on A-Hole CEO off the bat and called BS on him.
Then again, he kept blowing off the guy who wanted him to comply to the new policies and tried to use him as a scapegoat.
Re: the last one. I worked for a mfg companybthat bought a smaller co. in the same business. The VP of mfg in the new sub. thought that the tail should wag the dog. Made life hard for me & others. Took 3 to 4 years, but his foolishness got him fired. Another company I worked for had same circumstances. I was out at the new sub mfg plt talking to the Plant Controller. I commented that usually the plt controller was the 1st to go, and asked him how he lasted. He said - I wanted to stay. I realized I had to follow the new procedures, so I did. What a NOVEL idea!
My uncle used to work in a bakery, he was a baker, and he had to wear hairnet over his beard.

She was recorded DRAGGING ANOTHER COWORKER BY HER HAIR and she was given a second chance?! WTF? Avoid that deli at all costs!
The story said she threatened to do so, not that she actually did. And that the footage was video only without audio, so the only thing proven was that the lead deli worker was berating and yelling at the baker.
Still a total bitch, but unfortunately being on camera yelling at a coworker doesn't get most people fired, especially if the audio isn't available to confirm what was said.
