Indeed, a very good outside and inside tour. Thank you for such a great vid! p.s. you've mentioned single pilot operation - is it certified for SPO? And if so, the pressure panel seems a bit far from left seat, does it have full auto mode by default? Thanks again, for great video!
I have to disagree. This isn't the best walk around of the P.180, it's the only PROPER walk around. Most people just walk around the exterior pointing their camera into wind and say nothing. Thanks also had to go to the pilot for sharing all the information that he did.
@@ErikJohnston That is the best walk-around presentation that I've seen for ANY aircraft. (It just happens to be made even better by the fact that it's a Piaggio Avanti.) ;)
I actually saw a Piaggio when it landed at our small municipal airport. It was delivering some businessmen to a local plant. A most impressive aircraft. The pilot, with whom we spoke, sure loved the plane.
As far as I'm concerned the Avanti is THE most BEAUTIFUL aircraft in the sky! A perfect mixture of future tech yet fully grounded in tried and true aircraft construction. Speed enough to keep pace with jets while burning less than half the fuel. Perfection !
Thanks for this comprehensive presentation. Damn fine plane. Fast, roomy and economical (compared to a jet). I like the moving seats and, most of all, the lavatory.
As a service linesman, I'm glad to see these come into my FBO and take care of these beauties. Don't have to crouch down to plug/unplug the GPU but having those props running even feathered is friggin scary as hell...even at night!
Absolutely Loved flying this Aircraft, Lots of Fun and Performance. An Excellent Walk Around, Really Enjoyed listening to this gentleman who really does a wonderful job 👏👏
That is such a beautiful aircraft i actually got a tour of one that landed here at KUDD and the cabin was quite spacious i fell in love with the avanti that sound 😍
Amazing, beautiful and advanced bird. Just what you expct from an Italian plant. And you can really see the Lerjet DNA in the tail! Great tour, Thank You SIr!
Awesome video man! Best walk around of the piaggio on youtube hands down. Been considering getting an evo and this was the most knowledgable video ive seen on it. It seems on all the videos the pilots and passengers love them. Ive yet to see one complaint. Makes me wonder if there any legitimate ones? Somebody said servicing them could be a problem as they aren't wildly popular yet and may never be? Also that the manufacturer was running into financial troubles? Do you know anything on this and do you still fly it? if so out of what airport are you based out of? Sorry to be such a winded comment the the airplane excites me for sure =D
This channel is the best one I have found in a long time. All these interesting "quirks and features" (to use a Doug DeMuro reference) keep me coming back for more. I know about the planes, but not to this level of detail.
Stunning design... I've seen only one Piaggio here in the St. Louis area; before I even spotted it flying over, the sound got my attention. The turboprop/pusher combination makes for a very distinctive noise! Thanks for a really interesting walkthrough.
Well I was absolutely drawn in by this walkaround. So detailed and well explained. I just love this aircraft. That lovely drone sounds when landing. The interior is absolutely gorgeous and spacious. What I would give for a flight in one of these beauties !!
I no longer need my flightradar24 to identify the Piaggio Avanti. I live in Topsfield,MA and can pick up the sound of the Piaggio as it passes over Boxford, MA headed for Beverly Regional Airport. It doesn't sound like a 1960s / early 70s Ferrari but , to me, doesn't sound like any of the other planes that fly overhead. Love the looks. Great vid, thanks.
Well done. It’s a wonderful airplane and very well presented. Lots to love. I wish my C441 had single point refueling and, oh yeah, flew 400 KTAS instead of 300 KTAS.
Thank you, for the incredibly informative review. Amazing aircraft, to say the least, but the "tour and walk around" was the best I've seen. Really appreciate you sharing !
Man I wish there were more thorough, detailed walk-arounds like this for those of us with a bit of knowledge already...great job calling out specifics on this truly unique bird. Knowing this is an old video no sweat if you don't reply...run into any noise complaints given that unique sound it generates? We get a few here at KEDC and can always tell if it's flying overhead.
Beautiful aircraft, my husband and I enjoy flying our turbo charged Piper Saratoga but Avanti's really stand out in terms of performance and good looks!
Great video! Love how you know everything about this beauty inside and out. I’ve been watching a few videos of this but just walk around or not enough commentary. You know your shit! You sound like my dad explaining something about work to me, he’s an electrician.
i am a die hard super king air fan, but i have always been curious about the Avanti. she is even more impressive than i ever imagined. Thank you so much for taking the time to share this remarkable aircraft and if by some random chance you have extra time at houston hobby, i would love to meet you and see this airplane.....
Living near an airport, I can verify these pushers are by FAR the loudest airplanes around. We are lucky, they don't fly in/out of the airport very often.
What a beautiful aircraft, and a truly exquisite walk around, well done, best walk around of any aircraft type on the Internet, very well done, Subscribed, great job sir.
ErikJohnston Indeed i did, May i share this with my friends on Facebook ?, they're all real life 737, CRJ 200 and Pilatus PC-10 pilots, i always ask before i share out of respect and don't share if not wanted or replied to, good day sir and happy flying.
This is such a well designed aircraft and at a reasonable price point. Thanks for the mil-spec walk around /preflight...I can now kick the tires and rotate.
I come back to it with renewed insight 5 years later. How time flies. Great walk through video. It's an inspirational plane but I have come to realize that they should have gone jet as jets can be about equally efficient and the piaggio is banned at certain airports for its noise. The Eclipse jet is a good comparison, it uses about half the fuel as a 5-6 seater and the Piaggio here is a 9-10 seater, both at similar speed and that just voids the justification for turboprops. Further the weight could probably be cut in half or more as a carbon fiber bubble instead of the alu sheet construction. Also diameter could be reduced slightly and use more high tech insulation so you save maybe 15cm in width before reducing cabin width. If they made such a jet version before Otto Celera does, I think they could sweep the small business jet world. That round peg AOA sensor on the side looks like it would disturb the air. A single pilot seat could also be central and moved forward with only a vestigial jump seat second pilot seat offset behind. To take less cabin space and need less windshield. With modern tech I would consider having minimal windshield and use all video views because cameras are better at handling direct sunlight and you can zoom and look in all directions with video. Ultimately I think that's more civilized than looking out the window. A carbon fiber bubble lends itself well to pressurization and could support sea level cabin pressure even in space with relative ease. The double curved fuselage also naturally gives rigidity even in very thin carbon fiber. I'm surprised more aircraft manufacturers don't take advantage of this. As you also remark the landing gear looks very beefy. Should be some weight savings possible there too. It can also be shorter in a jet version that needs no propeller clearance.

BTW piaggio headquarter is very close to my home, and you know the Vespa, the first scooter, was invented here, after ww2 converting to civilian production, it used a lot of aeronautical tech, if not spare parts
Wonderful review, no unnecessary content, drawn out explanations, and the pace was perfect. Very well done
I wish all aircraft reviews on youtube were this good. Fantastic job !!!
Thanks a lot. glad you liked it

Very nice walk around. The Avanti is amazingly slick and does have many Lear traits. Who is the pilot doing the tour?
Yeah it was nicely knowledgeable and competent.

Thanks for this, Eric. I'm a Turbo Commander owner, but the ultimate dream has always been an Avanti. Thanks for showing us all the features.

Best aircraft review/walk through I've ever seen. Nice job
This is an excellent review and the owner/pilot is clear very proud of and knows his aircraft intimately.
Great stuff.

Great plane. Beautiful, functional, fast, great size, good distance.
I stayed in Rome for two weeks last summer and kept seeing these fly over. Really unique looking plane. Obnoxiously loud though.
Awesome review video. No bullsh*t, just right to it, with the facts. Very thorough and complete. Thank you.
