There actually was a lot in this movie that was not considered decorum in the day of the regencies. She would never be running, she would not be without a hat. But all that aside, this was the most wonderful movie. I've lost count of how many times I've watched it. Sally Hawkins is so amazing. Her facial expressions are an Academy award winner all in themselves. I know everyone talks about the kiss at the end but it is that 1 tear that is released before he kisses her that is just so wonderful.
This is probably the only love story that fills my stomach with butterflies and makes me feel so happy. This version and the Ciaran Hinds and Amanda Root version are my favorites. 😍😍😍

This adaptation was very good overall, the leads are fantastic, especially Sally Hawkins and Anthony Head. But the screenplay made a few very bad choices. Having Anne sprint through the streets of Bath looking for Wentworth was a terrible idea, for example. And the 'relaxing strolls' along the Cobb in Lyme during a stormy gale were just ridiculous. All the actors were soaked by huge waves breaking over the walls.
I like both versions of Persua sion 1971 and 2007 .WHY in the 1971 do the people dress very elegant all of them look so nice and in the 2007 the women dress look kind of too poorly. The hats lookk so worn out.plain no style to the clothes. The men clothing is fine.
