@@CoolCatKerr I don't fault the actors. I think they did a good job with what they were given. And the chemistry was there but the script... what was that? And who directed it? Did they even read the book??
My favorite Jane Austen is Pride and Prejudice, but I love this version of Persuasion. I can really feel the desperation when she is running to tell him that she is determined to be with him.
I like both versions of Persuasion and the two sets of characters in each version add their own nuances and “ flavor “ to the story. Actually Ciaran Hinds and Amanda Root fit each other well I think especially he being very tall to her petite height and he is a presence. But I do love Rupert Penry Jones… he is a gorgeous man and excellent actor. I like him in many roles he has played.Very sweet gaze, convincing, and quite easy to look at!❤️
I love so much this second-chance love story!! There is something so poignant about these 2 lovers who have been separated for many years and who meet again and fall in love again...❤ the music with the voice-overs reflects perfectly the poignant tone of the film.....the film has many flaws and I still cringe over some of the script plot-holes. However, the 2 leading actors, the music, the haunting tone, the use of light and the beautiful setting make this film very special and beautifuI in my heart. Persuasion is one of my favourite novels!! ❤😍
Beautiful video capturing all the wonderful moments of this movie. It’s one of my favorite Jane Austen stories and this version of Persuasion is one of the best. Thank you 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
excellent editing! luv this version of Persuasion despite its several plot holes, breath-taking performance by both lead actors - i felt her pain when she cried and his anger and grief when he thought she was marrying her cousin.
These classics are seeing a well deserved renewal of appreciation during these tragic and contentious times of 2020. "Redesigning" the divine plan is never wise as it is already sublime.
I love everything about this video! The editing and sound choice...BRAVO! I prefer this novel over Pride & Prejudice. The torture of an unspoken love and the heartbreak of a betrayal. You can see the justification for both sides and how they are quietly fighting their battles....
I was almost jumping out of my chair at the end!!! These people should have just TALKED to each other much earlier and this near heartbreak would have been avoided!!! Capt Wentworth was just SO handsome--what kissable lips!!!! And I kept thinking of the sadistic British officer in Outlander every time I saw the scheming cousin!!! Finally the 2 who should have been together got together before I had a stroke from anticipation!!!! Excellent movie and great settings!!! Costuming was excellent too!
Great video. Lovely. Poignant love. Wonderful acting. Music fine and we c an hear the lines.. one of my favorite books and my favorite films. Beautiful...
so much tense, so much pain in the scene - they met again after years apart In so many scenes, Frederick's silent staring filled with mixed emotions - I loved her and was hurt deeply by her. I swear I hate her and I shall move on. But why, God knows why am I so confused whenever I look at her. I hate that I'm still hoping
Esta es la mejor adaptación del hermoso libro de Jane Austen, los actores son perfectos, las miradas de ellos, es maravillosa esta película. Lástima que en México es complicado verla.
Love how she arrives with a crash and shunts her BIL out of the way to wander off talking about some bloody gun he wants while those two have gone into another dimension. Really well set out and acted.
It’s not the highest budget production but I think the cinematography and the acting and the score did a great job of conveying the autumnal, almost melancholy vibe that Persuasion gives off that’s not really present in any of Austen’s other novels. It’s my favorite. I wish this version was streaming somewhere in 1080p.
Wow what a masterpiece 😭😭 these days I was just dying to reread the book and rewatch the film and you post this beautiful video 🤧🤧🤧 THANK YOU, it conveys perfectly all the emotions of Anne, it's heartbreaking but beautiful!
Beautiful video. What a great usage of On The Nature of Daylight; it fits the video perfectly! Something about broken souls being brought back together just ruins me which is why Persuasion is my favorite Austen story.
I wasn't familiar with Persuasion before I saw this adaption but after seeing it I went and read the book. Even with the differences I still rather like this version of the story.
As someone who is writing her dissertation on Jane Austen's novels, I believe that Persuasion is her second-best novel after Emma. Actually, I wrote my first Jane Austen analysis on Persuasion. At first, I didn't even think how many things could be highlighted, interpreted, etc. from this short novel. And the fact that I got second place in a national Hungarian scientific essay competition with this text also proved to me that Austen's works are indeed timeless classics, which can provide many lessons for the people of the 21st century. 😍😍 I couldn't even count how many times I've seen this adaptation. It's tireless for me. It may have differences compared to the book, but for me, it conveys its atmosphere and essence. And your video turned out excellent, like all the others I've seen from you over the years.❣
This is my second favorite Jane Austen book but although I have every version of it on film,I am still waiting for a production that does it justice...
This love story is beautiful because it has a happy ending but in the reality of many people this is not fulfilled because one of the two members of the couple is unfaithful and never fulfills the promise of marrying while the other person is entirely faithful and never she loses hope of seeing him again and being a happy marriage.
Everyone watches on different types of devices and different speaker capabilities, on my laptop/phone/TV app its okay but I understand everyone's device is different so I can't always predict what each person's capabilities are❤️
Just finished watching the Netflix version. I have to say love them both. The Netflix versión is a little funny a relaxed. The the essence of written novel is there.
Terrible sociedad juzgar a hombres , mujeres que no se casan tan jovenes y virgenes aun en estos actuales tiempos se juzga sin sopesar el daño que se hace a las personas
Yes, I have! A Crown for Christmas I believe. Good story. It is so sweet with a little humor too. Rupert is his lovable, calm, handsome self. He is a good horseman if he doesn’t have a stunt double. In Persuasion he rides well too. I always notice as a life long horse rider. 👑❤️🐎 It’s the perfect Christmas movie!!💕
Although I love the actors, and the fact some of it was filmed in Bath, it's unarguably the most wrong-headed version of Persuasion that I've seen. I think Jane herself would agree.
@@MultiMaggs Going by what the two young women on RUclips have said about the 2022 version, I think I'll give it a miss and just watch the 90s version over again.
Since you have not even watched it your opinion on which is better means little. But since you desired to be disrespectful: Yes, I am glad people who enjoy watching homely 50 year old's pretend to be young have the 1995 version to watch. To each their own.
I do like and watch both versions of this but the problem with the 1995 version is I don’t think you sense the longing behind the scenes whereas they show in the the 2007 movie the long glances only to look away when the other looks. And she writes in her diary her inner feelings. If I had one criticism of the 2007 version, I think the running breathless at the end is way too overdone, didn’t care for that. But overall I think 2007 version wins slightly.
Man faced 40 year old Anne and dour 50 year old Capt. Wentworth, with zero romantic chemistry between them, is not my cup of tea, but good to know you have a version you can enjoy.
I also like the 1995 version. Haven't seen this one, but from the clips I think I would enjoy it, too. The new 2022 Netflix adaption.....ugh.....what was that? 😱🙀 That certainly wasn't Persuasion!
