Hey, Wily take the oil pressure sensor off of one of the other trucks and put it on the truck that you tried starting in this video and see if that fixes the problem
British Standard Pipe (straight thread) in the Volvo, don't know about PACCAR vs US National Standard Pipe (taper thread) in Cummins/Cat/Detroit, US sensors
Good idea
Thanks for watching
The small wire you hook to the back battery neg post goes on the positive. It's the power wire for the sensors
he's right
Wiley you took that last small wire you put on you said it went to the positive and you put it on the negative side. Jacob told you once you said it went to the positive but you left it on the negative. The shut off is low coolant level need to add enough to top it off. The low oil pressure is probably going to be a bad sensor get you a actual oil pressure gauge and put a fitting on it and screw into hole that the pressure switch in and see how much oil pressure it has. The just get you an oil pressure sensor and it will fix the gauge on the dash if it show good oil pressure when you try a regular gauge on it to test it. The sensor should be located on or near the oil filter.
Just a suggestion, get some red tape to put on the positive wires before you take them off.
🎉 hopefully you switch that white wire to positive and not negative🎉... JJ..😊
Dontbewily Hope you Can get That Truck Up and Going Keep Up the good work Billy Lizza Uniontown pa

These are nice looking trucks
That's the nicest one yet!!
Try changing out your oil pressure sending unit. It's not the sending unit shutting the truck down but the ECM shutting it down thinking there is no oil pressure. Those sending units go bad far more frequently than oil pumps do, that would be the first place that I would start. +1 to Carmelo Lopez, check to see if the sensor is the same and transfer it from another truck to see if it fixes the issue and if it does they usually aren't expensive. =)
That's the low antifreeze warning wiley
That truck she loves you Willey.😂😂😂. Well done team. That is one pretty truck.
The D12 like that one pre emissions, we're very good.
Downside to working on the timing or the bull gears on a Volvo, you got to pull the front seats out and the shifter is in the dog house before you ever get started. Then the real work begins.
Wow. Thanks for sharing
ThNk you for watching
Hey Mr Wiley the reason that truck is cutting off is because the water in the coolant level is to low. I had the same issues every time I would turn a hard right it would shut down. I think its a sensor inside that protects the engine cause it thinks no coolant is to the truck.
Thank you for sharing
You can tell Wily gets a joy out of getting these trucks running again. The Volvo's are temperamental when it comes to any sensors on the engine and will shut down the engine to keep from damaging the engine. The radiator sensor will shut down the engine on Volvo's if it's malfunctioning or senses there's not enough coolant. That warning indicator in the dash with the "Stop" sign and "Low Coolant" emblem is for the radiator. It's a small fix, add coolant or put on a new radiator sensor if it's bad. I don't remember the cost of a new sensor because the truck I drove had a bad radiator sensor. I've driven a Volvo like this one and I know for a fact that if that sensor malfunctions or if there's not enough coolant, then the engine will NOT stay running. In my opinion, I think the Oil Pressure gauge or the sending unit might be bad, but I don't know if that will cause the engine to shut down and not stay running because I've never experienced that in a Volvo. It probably wouldn't take much to fix it and get it back up and running, but that's if it doesn't have anything major wrong with it besides the air leak, radiator sensor / coolant issue and the oil sensor / oil pressure issue. It is in pretty good shape for a Million mile truck. It just needs a lil work. If the radiator sensor is bad, that's an easy Wily fix. I think it's on the top Passenger side of the radiator, but I could be wrong. The air leak has to be traced and repaired. The oil pressure issue, if it's just the sending unit is fixable.
Thanks for sharing that
Those Volvos are clean for the miles and age.
Thanks for watching
Glad you could still get the truck running. Hopefully you guys can figure the shutoff problem out. Take care and happy wrenching 🔧🔩
I didn’t know you watch the channel brother good Channel 2 watch I am still waiting for a good video from you be safe friend
The picture on the dash looked like the coolant tank, like it's got a low coolant. I might try putting some 50/50 in it. Maybe a gallon. It's also possible the coolant or temperature sensor is bad. I'm not a diesel mechanic myself, but it could be those things. Thank you for sharing, Wily!
I could make out what that picture was but o believe you are right
Thanks for sharing
Thank you for watching
@DontbeWily it will shut them down with low coolant. I parked on a steep hill with mine at work and it shut it down just like in the video
@@DontbeWilycoolant level 100%
It sounds good to have low oil pressure
I have a older Volvo. It cuts off like that if it's low of antifreeze. But keep starting an after a bit it will run but it's awhile. God bless you sir!
That truck is running too good to have no oil pressure no smoking no knocking it has got to be a center somewhere do not let that make you upset you will get it figured out my friend another good video be safe
That's one started right up mr Wily great job bring smile to you 👍
Good to see you again Wiley. You are putting out good content. Your honesty is good to see. Take care and see you on the next video.

Nice seeing those old Volvo Semi trucks Wily, they sure built them great. 👍👍👍
Volvo should have never sold their car division, what a boneheaded move, since 1993 ,, when they sold their car division, Volvo cars went downhill
It's the low coolant sensor shutting it down. Those things are very sensitive when it comes to fluid levels. That one wire got put on the wrong battery terminal... I believe that runs those sensors
Hay wally your the best ,down to earth ol' boy slogger.
Great start up great video thanks Wylie and Jacob
I love that old Mack truck wily ❤the one that has a problem with injection pump
Left side of engine behind the alternator two sensors mounted one above the other at a right angle out of the block (it's going to be a tight fit) the upper sensor is the engine oil pressure (part # 1077574) and the lower sensor will be the crankcase pressure sensor (part # 21634017) change both of them out and those two are 100% of the problem. If for some reason that's not it swap out the O rings in the oil pan on the pick up tube. I did one last week with the same issue you are having and was the two sensors.
Going to try it
Thanks for watching
Hank would be proud of you
Hey Willy, to the Mack problem: you must disconnet the lines at the pump and start till Diesel runs, and than fasten them. for the air in the lines is out of them. greets from Germany
the exterior panels could be powder coated, which holds up pretty good..
Wily, you keep it up, your going to be a large successful equipment dealer in the south. Ill be its starting to get a little warm down there on the farm. Keep up the great content. Bill
Thank you
Yes it is getting warm

Thanks for another great video.
It was interesting and enjoyable.
Wow. That one started good but would not stay running. Never heard of that before. Hope you can figure this one out.
Nice truck otherwise. Clean and in good shape. Thanks Wiley and Jacob.

First problem dash display shows low water stop engine. Fill water tank and go from there. Low oil pressure most likely the gauge in the dash. Maybe mice chewed sending unit wire on the motor. Don't think you have a oil pressure issue as good as it sounds with no ticking or knock. Don't write it off still think fill it with water first. Would love to see you investigate it further. Keep it up Wiley
I will thanks for sharing
Wiley, at least you got it started. I appreciate you, buddy. 4 for4
Hey Wiley
Its always good to see your videos and am glad you've been having good luck with these trucks. I just wish you could turn your volume up a little bit. Sometimes you are really hard to hear even with my volume all the way up. Keep up the good work. Take care and God bless.

We are working on our sound.
I hear myself breathing so loud I tell Jacob to do something about that
he tells me to loose weight and exercise.
Then we are at a standoff
Seriously. I will get the sound worked out

Check the side box
Low of water will cause that and good luck and God bless y'all
Love seeing these beautiful some old some new girls tic over again
Maybe if you could check the oil pressure . You could cobble a oil gauge together for these issues and a separate for fuel pressure. You do about everything to these so maybe some plumbing is in store
Thanks for watching
Check out the wires on the batteries and fill up the coolant tank. 🙈🤔🇺🇸
That's nice
Check fuses at the battery

They were a good motor those old Volvos
Enjoyed the video. Thought you had an easy one.
Me too

Sure enjoyed your video Wily
Thank you for watching
Had the same issue. Found a bad ground on that line
My Volvo done the same thing with the coolant temperature sensor I just unplugged my temperature sensor. The temperature gage still works but it will not shut down. Try that it is on the side of the coolant reservoir tank on top of the radiator.
I will ,thank you
Not sure about the Volvos, but a lot of the trucks I drove those yrs the computers was sensitive. Go to crank them turn the switch on and don't touch anything radio, clutch or anything until it runs its cycle
Will try it
Thanks for watching
My dad drove Volvos for a company and he learned that they have a low coolant sensor which causes this issue. But it may not be the exact issue you are having.
❤ the content!
Thank you

lol I use to drive for the company that owned these trucks, I had a 2000 9200i international with a 12.7 Detroit diesel 15speed.

Did you push in both air knobs? Pull the red one back out; you ain't got a trailer on. Good to see you have your own channel.
The dash picture was for low coolant level. That’s why it’s shutting down
wily i enjoy your video's and wait for the next one good Job brother! and when people put you down about not being a mechanic you are a good machanic to me! just say to them I'm not a mechanic but i know one and remember jesus loves you all!
Thank you
I will always remember that
Thanks for watching
That’s a low coolant sensor. I’ve driven Volvos and had that same issue come on. It shuts off when either the coolant is low or the sensor is bad.
It will level out when the air bags airup
Could be ecm. Take one from the other truck & try it out
Some of them have a idle shut down
if you don't set the cruise control it will shut down. It only shuts down in parked but when you drive it, It keeps running but if that doesn't work it could be a sensor or like you said low water or oil pressure to low.
I will remember that
hey whiley oil pressure sending unit if its a 2 wire system bridge it out it will tell the computer it has max oil pressure and let the truck run hope it helps
Thanks
That's the low coolant light and it will shut down if its too low
Gentry and son he might be interested your truck's
Wiley my dad bough a log trailer from you in the 90s.

It's the temp Gage not letting it build up pressure because it's low on coolant the low coolant indicator was illuminated on the dash that's the reason why It goes into shutdown so it doesn't damage the motor my husband works at a Volvo dealership in St Louis Missouri I asked him about it tonight and that's what he told
Thank you for doing that
I am going back this week and add water.

Have a mack with an mp8 motor in it. I'm pretty sure Volvo makes mack and the engines are the same or very similar. I had the same problem with low oil pressure. Was the sensor really easy fix also. I was told if it really did have low oil pressure then I'd know lol. Put water in it and try an diff sensor at least to start
I will on the water
by the faint at first , maybe even a tic then a loud knocking sound
well I guess the gauges were working after all

Frontend alignment
👍👍
That's a low coolant warning on the dash..it will shut down
That was far to easy 😂❤
Some of these New semi trucks are set to only aisle for so long before they will automatically shut off shut the engine off they do that to help save fuel
Hey wiley good video ,must be a gremlin in the volvo its the biggest drawback with the Volvo engine to many sensors ,fine while new a nightmare when they get old ,and often only Volvo dealer can diagnose the problem ,over the years ive driven Volvo Mercedes Scania all nice trucks till they get a sensor problem ,the most reliable trucks i ever drove we American iron with Cummins Cat Detroit get em fixed anywhere ,but the driver comfort of the European truck is second to none .Love your Channel mate

Volvo wont run idle per fqctory settings set cruise or bump engine idle up, also air leak is most likely airbag leveling system on steer axle
Thank you for sharing
Hey wily we’re is your buddy hank ?
Making oil
next the white international and the mach
It has a shutoff safety switch in a run for a little while and it'll cut off Aurora I used to work at we had a 2001 and it shut off like that crank it back up
The $2500 ones
Change oil And filter
Easy fix. Volvo motors are solid. If the oil/filter needs to be changed it will lose pressure and not run. You can know for sure if it’s the oil pressure by disconnecting the two sensors on the driver side of motor next to where the ecu is located. Disconnect the sensors and if it keeps running you will know for sure. But obviously do not run the motor too long because you will damage it.
that symbol on the dash is water level is low fill up the water tank and it should run
Thank you
You think so
Check the sensor output ,as a last resort use a mechanical gauge to see what the oil pressure really is ,Computers I hate them makes it so the back yard mechanic is lost Yell at WES @ Watch WES Work .
I watch him also

✌️
just the idle timer ... shuts the truck down if it idles to long
that was not the idle.... that was the low coolant I bet
C'mon Man. You know the thing
@@midnightrunner684 I know the thing??
@@midnightrunner684 what do you mean?
I am going to post if that was the issue
Thank you for watching
@@DontbeWily no worries... I used to have a Volvo. the idle timer was a pain... but I think it was the low coolant... I also had that issue my Volvo... it had a cold water leak... that would slowly leak out coolant... when the engine was cold...
👍🍻
Put some water in it!! Good lord man
check your small wires on the batteries, as it looked to me like you hooked them up on the wrong post.???
The freightliner I drove and the reservoir It would shut the engine down
