Thomas my friend, Grüß Gott from Bavaria! Let me be honest with you maybe the German rivals get advantage in this case. I'm living in Munich and I own a DS5 (2013), now became the time to think in a new or a second car DS7-nice but..., DS9-To much Peugeot, DS3 Cross-back- Yes, beautiful city car, New DS4- will be probably one of the references in the segment. After see the market I'm trying to buy the latest version of the DS5 around 2018, still much ahead of the German rivals from 2021, and regarding the infotainment system, Mercedes are you joking my friend, super over engineering, and I know what I'm talking about, the German engineers when the money is not from them they tend to develop stuff that no one needs, as a result some German companies they need to do some spin-off´s to get rid of the nonperformance companies!
what i love about this video is you can exactly know what germans look in a car, and understand why their cars were absolute legends. glad the other brands caught up with them tho!
I am paraphrasing but... 13:42 DS: we are comfort oriented. Also DS: 19" wheels and 40% side wall ratio for all! Also also DS: Flat seats at the back and no dampening on the arm rest! Also also also DS: Hey let's base our luxury car on a sport sedan, the 508 and have the seats very low and the trunk opening very low, it's all for comfort! I love the way this car looks. I like the details in the interior with the quality covered panels, literally no plastic panels in the centre console with all alcantara, love it. But man, why half ass this DS. Great car but at 60k Euros?! They are mad if they think this even competes with a E300de or similar. It's not even close.
Thomas, Thomas, Thomas!!! As a Frenchman, that's a review I was looking forward to. Why? Because when it comes to luxury cars, your expertise and opinion matter! You test drive the creme de la creme of fancy Mercedes, BMW and Audi and you know what defines luxury and well-built vehicles. DS is not there yet completely, but apparently making progress and it is encouraging to have more choice and diversity in this segment of vehicles. I enjoyed the door closing test! How about noise cabin? Did you feel the car was quiet while driving? Next, I am looking forward to you reviewing the DS4 which i find fantastic looking! And if you need a chauffeur, well, I don't mind you call me Antoine! Vielen danks mon ami and keep practicing your French, es ist sehr gut! Ya!
Thomas choose to show us his vinyard this time where he enjoys a nice glass of his premium wine in front of a selection of vintage Next Generation episodes on the weekends.
I like it but I feel the infotainment unit in the middle lets it down big time! I like the Virtual Cockpit. I would also like to see some unique engine choices that makes DS seperate from their relatives (Peugeot and Citroen). To compete with the likes of Audi, they need to make the leap!
Completely agree! This car is definitely coming too late to the market, as the DS4 which is coming at the end of the year already has the new infotainment system, proper 3D camera, etc. They should have the same in the DS9 especially since it is their flagship model! As for engine choices, it's probably not going to happen with the current norms in France... The DS brand will go full electric in a few years and I think this is where they will really have a shot. I think it's a great start for them tho and I'm very much looking forward to see what they have to offer in the future!
Great review. I am pleased Citroen have returned to the French focus on style and comfort. The obsession with sportiness of German cars where autobahns rule is not the real world motoring for the rest of the planet. I think I prefer the Citroen C6 as having more soul and personality.
Thomas's videos have taken another step up in quality. I haven't seen any other car reviews from a vineyard. What next? A German Schloss? Careful with the wine - no drinking and driving remember. Please keep the great content coming.
Nice to see the review. It's spot on with what DS has tried to accomplish with this vehicle. A great looking, interesting alternative to the German brands. Very nice.
I feel like if we remove all the badges and decals and park next to the Opel , Mazda, and Peugeot , I would find it difficult to tell them apart Thomas ! Great video and review .. 👍👍🥂🥂
Kia Ora Thomas, I think the Autogefühl exhaust police can give this one a pass. At least the exhaust actually passes through it unlike others....;-) Beautiful car exterior, pity about the interior design and old tech...Keep up the great reviews Thomas and Team, Kia Kaha from New Zealand.🙏🏻👍🏻☺️🇳🇿
1:04 Very elegant and classy, Thomas. I like this! I am liking this classy and French vibe in this episode. 😍 Also, the title of the video is super cute, lol. 😅
I really more like comfort than sport suspenzion in this class of car. Sports feeling is sutuble for diffrent type of cars… comfort and drive quality 👌
The dashboard reminds me of the original DS/IDs - pretty cool 👍 The rear top lights, are also straight out if the old DS. I think its very elegant, but you clearly need to dare to be different. And in the world we live in, its easier to “join the pack” and go for yet another boring Audi....Do you need an agile car, mainly driving on autobahns (which the target customer would don)?
I wish DS decided to go all-out like the Citroën of old days. This is just generic automotive design veiled by all the shiny, diagonal shapes that don't look that elegant as much as they probably hoped it would.
Hello Thomas and Autogefühl team. I am wondering if you, in Germany, have access to the Russian Aurus to review it? That would be such a great review. Thanks and cheers.
This review was the best I ever watched and I'm a petrol head. You are in a class of your own. Kudos to you and your team. Once again the Germans set a bar second to none.
Great video Thomas… I live in Normandie so I’m surrounded by French people. I’m not particularly a fan of Citroen but I like with DS does … great video as usual p.s. I like the DS suv I think there are more people who drink French wine in Germany than drive French cars…Each country has it’s best exports.
@@incassable I just love my Peugeot - it got me 280k miles before it got totalled in an accident last month, my bad. Will definitely buy another one. I really don't care about opinions.
The wine tasting was so fun! A great way in reviewing a car, like always here! Thank you very much for your in-depth review, it was very interesting! I liked the car more on the exterior side, the interior is ok, kind of chic, in the end, it remains a French car, well, let's say it looks sympa! 😉😊🍷🍷 Cheers, to Autogefühl👍
I love the german brands but im a huge Citroen and french saloon fan so id be very tempted to go with one of these just to be different, oh how I wish it had a 6 cyl engine though.
Faux wine tasting (1:04) to a Star Trek reference (1:23); Absolutely sublime. I'd happily buy the Autogefühl team a round a beer if I ever travel to Germany, because I also know nothing about wine. 🤣🤣
Hopefully for Thomas, the franchise will soon reveal a smaller, sister model, 'Seven of Nine' with more prominent curves on the bodywork, in a light grey wrap so close and tight that it highlights all the designs nooks and crannies to best effect ! 😉
The upcoming DS4 will be built in Rüsselsheim, Germany, maybe a better choice for less money?🤷♂️ @Autogefühl would be interesting if there were any differences in the build quality then.
I think this car will looks really modern if it were launched in 2015-2016. Little bit dated by today standard eventough this car look beautiful and premium
French car interiors are very nice and have their own stylish touch but I don't get the analog clock. You change buttons with touch screens and haptic feedback buttons, replace everything screens but still keep the analog clock 🤷♂️ IMO it's just a kitsch.
I think Citroën is giving the instruction to compare/mention the Mercedes E on every review... in fact I will compare it with the Arteon, for example. Its a 'pushed to the limit' upmarket front wheel drive, transverse engine, based on a compact platform like the golf. By no means any one that understands cars will compare this to an E-class. But by doing so you give credit to the DS9.
PSA systems are way behind most other European brands but still ahead of Honda and especially Toyota. Toyota should be ashamed of the poor efforts in their vehicles.
I wonder, though, if Stellantis will import the DS9 to North America, perhaps selling it as a Chrysler branded vehicle? Hmmmmm... 🤔 Excellent quality review as always, Thomas. 🍷🍷🍷
Great review. 🙂 Another great episode. Amazing for me that you can teach me so much about a car I have never heard of until now and leave me knowing so much about it. It is like I have known this car for a while. Awesome work, Thomas. Interesting car. I am not sure whether I would pick this car over a Mercedes-Benz E-Class, though. For me, the unique "no-one else has this" aspect to this car will have zero bearing on my buying decision, because that is in my head and more artificial than an actual physical thing the car itself does. A social thing. It would be great to see it in person and drive this car and see how nice it is, especially compared to an E-Class. So many things I am looking for, and the E-Class does them all perfectly. I am so curious how this car holds up to that. Always love to give a car a chance, especially since the French and others love it. At least it is not a rude and blatant copycat of the Europeans like the Asian brands' cars, lol. This has its own take, engineering-wise, it seems. I love that. I would love to see this brand's SUV that can compete with the GLE. That would be super cool. Not sure one exists. If so, I am intrigued. 🙂
I personally would lease this over a German rival if they sold it in the US, just because I'm French-American and this would be different and unique compared the millions of German cars you see on the roads here (especially in LA). The comfort would also be a selling point for me as my BMW is the pretty uncomfortable over the bad roads we have here. However, the tech and performances are much better in German cars but I think I'd be willing to sacrifice that to drive something different 😉
Doesn’t look bad, however it sure won’t sell as another premium brand due to the platform (it’s always the old one used in 20 different PSA products) and its engines (same old 1.6 + eventually hybrid, no 2.0 litre, no V6, no diesels...)
I had the DS7 as a rental car recently. Could not get used to the door controls being in the center console.. Everything is backwards in French cars. Also, I'm always disappointed when I do the 3-finger check : (
Good review as always! Feel like DS could done more to hide its origin (Peugeot and Citroen), there is to much part sharing like the outdated infotainment system. Audi does a better job of hiding its resemblance with VW.
Hallo Thomas, Wunderbar... I liked the "cliché"... I think DS9 has been already late in its initial launch to wait further long for firm new hardware that will be used in firm new 308 for instance..(but yes, "es ist shade"once again) By the way, when could we see you testing the brand new 308 ;-)? Oh also, for Driver "James" French 30-40's generation could easily say "Jeffrey" (due to fresh Prince of...) and older generation could rather say "Charles". Viele Dank, keep going!
I like the shape of the car but I think the dashboard is somewhat boring. I don't mind a digital dashboard but I would like some more info such as for example a revcounter which changes into a consumption indicator when you drive in electric mode. Although this car is more about luxurious driving I would like to see an oil temperature indicator and a volt/amp indicator. Gps system is outdated and last but least what about an adaptive cruise control, and other safety measures ? You didnt mention those so should I assume there are none ? I enjoyed the video for which thanks but I'm not sure if I would trade in my Peugot 508 (180pk) for a DS9. Best regards from Belgium

The most impressive part of this car is the analogue clock to me.
Very nice design of the arms and numbers.
That's really classy, indeed.
i think another advantage the DS9 has over the E Class is the cabin noise. The DS9 cabin is quieter compared to the E Class in the driving section.

Nice to see some refreshing touches to this channel! But this car luxury looks a bit artificial, synthetic for me.
Driving mode switch location... seems fine for us Brits!
Looks like DS have tried very hard with this car.The Peugeot 508 also looks great. So very hard to choose one over the other!
