I do transport in Ontario with a 2020 gmc 3500, it left me stranded in the middle of nowhere due to the def tank freezing. Far from any town much less a stealership. It was -40 and I had no phone service and had to literally wait a day until someone stopped to help me. I don’t care what kind of laws they have. It’s unacceptable, I could have literally froze to death, luckily it would still idle so I could stay warm. I have since got the weight reduction done, and haven’t had one single issue for a year. Gets much better fuel mileage, and I don’t have to worry about my truck turning into my coffin. I don’t understand why or how they are even allowed to do that derate crap.

I hate the though of throwing money at emissions parts but also kind of worried about MTO to be fully honest.
@@EhFokes I live in Louisiana and had to do the weight reduction at only 95,000 miles and I put in a Smarty Jr and set it up for towing at 75hp and then I also changed the air setting to get more air so when I’m towing something heavy and get down on it it doesn’t blow smoke 💨 plus I now get about 17-19mpg MT and about 14-17mpg towing my 40’ gooseneck trailer with 27 rolls of hay at 65mph My truck is a 07-1/2 Ram dually 4x4 Crew cab with a 6.7 Cummins automatic and 3:73 gears
@@EhFokes I don’t think the mto really cares. I always pull into the scales etc. never had an issue. It’s the ministry of environment or whatever that enforces that. And I’ve never seen them.
I’d do a single tow tune, trans tune, and 4” race pipe. Bolts right up to the downpipe and stock tailpipe. Then when you go to sell it. Easy bolt the DPF back up and done.

I had a Def injector problem and got a 150 mile warning. I was able to get 250 miles out of it before I did something about it. Glade to see you made it. Hope it's a quick fix
i know the shop your at and they are great, just make sure you keep your DEF stuff for the truck just incase you are legally forced to but it back on, they are cracking down on it
Sometimes if you turn off the truck, wait 30 seconds, then turn the truck back on it will reset all the faults. Maybe not in this case but keep that in your back pocket as a possible solution to other quirks.
Correct, fuel additives and clean diesel fuel to save the CP4 as long as you can. But when it goes you and your wallet will thank you for that disaster prevention kit.
You need a cheap gas burning dually as a back up truck, that way at worse you can tow your rig home and finish out your load. It's not efficient, but it'll finish the job.
I'm glad to see you on the road to redemption, my man. I'm not against emissions equipment in theory - I'm against how unreliable they make the emissions equipment and how carelessly they design and beancount it so it's almost guaranteed to break. It makes using an undeleted diesel as a workhorse that much more challenging.
you should get a scan tool too so you can clear codes and read data while traveling - i just picked up one topdon phoenix plus, best purchase for all my vehicles ever - good luck bro

Get yourself a disaster relief kit for the truck. It is a extra fuel filter you put on after the fuel pump. It's a cp4 failure a normal problem. A friend had that happen to him twice.
did mine the easy way got a welder friend and we cut 2 half circles in it and just reached in and gutted everything and welded it back together simple 2 1/2 hr job hooked all the plugs back up you'd never know the difference
I am a ford guy, I got an 22 f450 lariat, I use for towing heavy equipment. I love the truck but if I had the issues you have had that early on I would just sell the truck. Already have had issues over past 6 months and 9,000 miles with it consistently eating front tires. Ford dealers for warranty are the worst. Already said if I get a big breakdown and its down for 3-6 months I will just ditch the truck

Why are you having to pay somuch out of pocket AT the dealership for things that should be covered under warranty? I dont know if I've missed other videos or not but the couple I've seen, seems like this has been an ongoing issue and you've had nothing but dealerships work on the truck and are still having problems?

The def system isn't covered by the warranty? If it's not then it's straight pipe time

Def systems are such a knee jerk reaction to fix pollution. It’s a mess! Once it’s removed your truck will run forever
Not forever, it will only run until the CP4 pump eats itself.
Disaster prevention kit for the CP4 and you’ll be set.

I’d say all the extra DEF jugs ,nozzles , cardboard boxes and burning a ton more fuel in regen is really helping the environment.

Honestly this is why the place I work won't run Diesel and just buy 7.3 Ford gassers. Less problems and can pull just as much.
