Got this same MacBook Pro! This machine is fantastic not the most beefy power you can get for this price but built extremely and can handle 4K editing!
kOdaqTV the only problem for me though. Where I live there are no Starbucks. Australia got rid of Starbucks because Aussies hate it, and are fussy about our coffee. You can get it in Melbourne or Sydney
I've owned the new MacBook Pro 13" since november of last year, and I've grown to really love it. I have the same base model (no touch bar) but with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of SSD. It's an acquired taste to be sure, and I wasn't certain at first whether I would like the butterfly keyboard and how the limited port selection would turn out, but as you said in this video, once you're used to it everything else just feels primitive. The old MacBook Pro's keyboard feels mushy when compared to the clicky second gen butterfly keys. The old touchpad is cramped and being able to click only at the bottom of the touchpad feels really awkward now. I've also previously used a Dell XPS 15 for half a year (that was early 2016) and overall I came away with a feeling of "meh". It's not as ergonomic as I thought it would be based on looks, the battery life was mediocre at best, and Windows 10 had all sorts of small annoying issues where it wouldn't play nice with the laptop's hardware. I didn't miss it for a second after I turned it back in again. MacOS isn't a problem for me. I'm proficient in using all three major OS'es, and as a software developer it's good to have direct access to all three as well. So many people lock themselves into a single OS and refuse to touch anything else, but being flexible and able to switch between OS'es on the fly really is a big advantage when dealing with cross-platform software systems. Finally, the MBP's portability is just awesome. Being able to casually carry it in one hand to a meeting, then flip open the screen and start typing without worrying about battery life or bringing a gazillion attachments, that never gets old.
"MacOS isn't a problem for me. I'm proficient in using all three major OS'es, and as a software developer it's good to have direct access to all three as well. So many people lock themselves into a single OS and refuse to touch anything else". I just want to clap for this sentence. Well done
Vic The Tech Champion The 2016 MBP was the first with the gen 2 butterfly keyboard. Gen 1 was only on the first two generations of 12" MacBook. Thankfully, because that first version sucked.
It's not. The updates are god damn awful it's optimized like ass and can hardly even run anything without lagging even on the most up to spec systems, while macOS is reliable, fast and optimized even on the lowest hardware. Windows is just good for gaming, macOS is good for everything, but gaming.
Here's a fun story : When I bought my 'late 2013' Retina from the refurb store (they were doing a refresh at the time, so the computer was essentially new), it was actually cheaper than a similarly spec'd Windows laptop. It has a 2.6 Ghz Haswell i5, 8GB of RAM and a 512 GB SSD. I basically consider that purchase as being the best deal I've ever made in my life, especially since I've used it all the way through my master's degree (in software engineering), and still use it to this day. I'm really going to hang onto this thing, but the raised prices and lack of I/O on recent models might mean that when/if my Mac dies, I'll have to go back to another manufacturer.
I don't get why I/O is an issue for people. Many peripherals can go wireless and perform very. Then there is the cloud. Having a usb and ethernet on my 2012 MPB is more of a backup that is rarely used. Yourself?
With the exception of the thunderbolt ports (which have never been used), I've been using all of the I/O on my MBP one more than one occasion. I sometimes bring that computer to places where I have no access to the Internet, and being able to just plug in a standard thumb drive is pretty nice. I've also been using a wired Xbox controller on more than one occasion. The HDMI port doesn't get a ton of use, but I've been plugging the computer in TVs a couple of times. I've even used that Mac to run some indie games at a party, again using all the USB ports to plug in controllers. Honestly I wouldn't have felt butthurt about the I/O if they had included at least two standard USB type A ports. TB3 is perfectly adequate for all the rest.
Something to keep in mind - Many people are still rocking 2011 or 2012 Macbook Pros(including me, mine still looks factory new). These computers last ages.
You were so incredibly impartial, I know it’s hard to recommend a mac computer when you’re a hardcore windows user. Big props for your honesty I had to hit that subscribe button.
That battery life is so great! I have the same model MacBook Pro too, but I only manage to get 7 hours total (Only using Safari). It still charges so quickly though. Nonetheless, I absolutely love this computer, and it made me switch fully to Apple. I've been using Android and Windows for years, Apple ecosystem feels so refreshing.
*A quick update to my comment* The issue was purely with the screen brightness. I didn't even realize that my screen brightness was always above 75%. Since the screen is 67% more bright on the new models, it eats up battery A LOT. Also, auto brightness was causing it to turn up most of the time, I disabled it. After that, I've tried to turn it down to 50%, AND I GOT 10 HOURS OF BATTERY. It was that simple. The battery life is great. No doubt.
It's such a shame that they ditched the magsafe charge port in the current macbook pros. Definitely one of the key selling features of the older products.
MagSafe was great, but it's just not as big of a deal anymore because battery life has improved & you'll hardly have to charge your MacBook in dangerous situations. Also, it's no longer proprietary & there are third-party magnetic ends to add on if you still want that.
Hey, can someone help, please? I have (2) of the charger extensions somehow, but they're for my 2011 MacBook Pro charger. I'm getting the MacBook 2017, so will it work with my new charger? Thanks in advance.
The extension cords will work for your macbook pro 2017, as I have an extension cord which was for my old 2011 macbook pro, and you can just switch them off and on anytime you want. The charging block that plugs into your outlet still has a option to use other cords.

If I was Greg I'd be offended, because Linus has stooped so low in terms of quality since the beginning of last year and started catering to little kids and not tech enthusiasts with his cringey sex jokes, faces, clickbait and awful thumbnails just because he wanted a little extra income. Greg on the other hand is quite the contrary, he's constantly improving and is giving us unbiased reviews and not to mention those sexy af custom water-cooled builds...
I also have the 13 inch MacBook Pro, (typing on it right now) and honestly I find no use for the ports besides for charging. As long as you have an iPhone, you can seamlessly migrate files to and from with ease, and most things I do now are on google drive, so I have no need to use a flash drive to store my files, as I find google drive perfect if I want to go onto my desktop and continue working on my file. And yes I love the windows OS as well, and the easy workaround with that is just starting up the Boot Camp application that comes pre installed with any MacBook and you can instantly start using windows on your Macbook. I see no problem working with this, and graphical fidelity is obviously not a reason why you should buy this. This is a workstation laptop, not a gaming laptop or computer, and is meant to help your workflow, and not with your leisure time. I love this laptop
I use my Touch Bar a lot but I wouldn't recommend buying the more expensive model for it personally. What I would recommend buying the more expensive model for is the 2 extra Thunderbolt 3 ports and the better processor.

@Rommel Advincula you should buy one with touchbar, because that version have 2 fan, not because of the touchbar lol the non touchbar version have only 1 fan, and in many scenarios, the temp will make you piss off.
PC builder here... Just bought a MacBook as well!! Great for editing and even some light animation work.. But i will always come home to my windows gaming rig 🥰
Actually, $1499 , $1799, $1999 for ANY laptop is unacceptable unless the laptop is a beast at gaming. Where did I get those prices from? Well, from Apple's official website of course! This computer is limited and hard to use, I've used one myself, and I just felt limited. I had to ask so many of my friends how to use it, and just ended up selling it. Honestly, Apple fanboys should just stop.🤣
@@kelvinlendof553 Yes but apple isn't made for gamers. It doesn't target that audience, it never has. Most people who use it tend to be more creative with their work, designers, artists, writers etc. I fail to see the correlation between you not knowing how to use the Mac and it not being a great laptop
@@kb-fp5vf I'm not sure what his thought process was when he said that but I think what he meant to say was that any laptop that costs that much should have performance that should match that price and not make up for it via build quality and other features that don't necessarily affect the performance of that device. I don't believe this is true and a company should be allowed to charge a premium if they invested more money, time, thought and manpower into other features of their devices which apple clearly does regardless of what anyone thinks. As for being creative though, yeah Mac users don't buy Macs for gaming and it is mostly for productivity or for casual usage. That being said though, these workloads are completely possible on the windows/Linux side of things and furthermore those two OS families have other features to offer and in the end whenever all these OS are compared, windows/Linus OS are usually found lacking in only a few workload comparisons with MacOS but are never found to be unable to do it altogether and because of that I think it is still worth pointing out that the MacOS ecosystem is great at a lot of things especially integration with other devices but severely limiting at a FEW other tasks as well.
Megalodon Lol, it seems when someone doesn't know how to insult me they go after my anime profile pic. Quite surprising coming from someone who made minecraft lets plays.

For me, the MacBook is nice because of two things: build quality and macOS. I can not like Windows, and I just don't know why. I use Windows for all the programs on the job, schools and even games (actually just Pro Evolution Soccer), but for personal things like browsing, writing texts, Netflix, developing web sites and even games like League of Legends, Hearthstone and StarCraft, macOS handle everything very well and I fell better than using Windows. I tried some versions of Linux, and I really liked it, but since I like Apples's hardware, I will use it's system.
Bonus point, these things last forever. I've had my 2013 15" pro for 5 years now. Traveled several countries with me, took a few bumps and drops, and still works like a champ. Unfortunately I don't want to upgrade to the touchbar version because I don't like it. I'm hoping they come back with function keys for their higher end models next go-around.
The thing I like most about my Mac, is that I bought it in 2012 refurbished for around $1100. Since then it's seen an SSD upgrade and a RAM upgrade, an it's still faster than most of the computers at my work, not to mention it's battery life is stellar. My friend also has a unibody MacBook that had it's battery expand inside the laptop, bulging out the touchpad and the bottom of the case. Took it out and replaced it and everything worked fine.
My two cents from a guy who basically used all of them . I grew up on a MacBook 2008 that took me through my entire high school , back then I used to Mac os and windows. I built my first PC and was using Windows 7 at the time I think solely and just used that for games. I went to uni and did my degree in cs and I basically played around with Linux to the poijnt where , things made sense , by the end of uni , I can't use anything else to write code except for any Linux distro with i3 gaps ported. Now I own a hp zbook , for my job and I love except it's super heavy . And 2 PC's 1 gaming , 1 for the family and 1 server. What I really want , is Mac hardware and like complete Linux support. I think lots of people really love to bash on Mac os , and I personally think the os is actually pretty good you know . Windows is too much of a clutter fest for me to like use besides playing games, especially for development , you need to jump through 400 hoops to get something working. People keep forgetting , apple can charge anything they want because they have a monopoly on devices running the Mac / iOS ecosystem , since they own it .
I hate how people hate on Mac even when they have never used it and tbh its smoother and faster than most Windows laptops and it looks the coolest and sleekest
I bought the 13 inch MBP w/o touch bar a couple days ago. I bought the 2.3GHz with 256GB SSD drive. The retail price was $1499 but I purchased it for $1249(no tax) at the Navy exchange. Everything there is tax free and it was on sale for military members😀. One of the perks of being in the military. I don't do any video editing or gaming for that matter, but I had a 17inch touch screen acer laptop that I was using for about 5 years only for school and decided to finally upgrade to my very first apple computer. I am apple everything, iPhone 7, Apple Watch, so why not? I am fairly impressed with this system. Very crisp display and the SSD make it super fast for it to open programs and what not. I could have bought the 3.1GHz MBP with touch bar for $1500 but I didn't see that much of a difference to spend that extra $250. Overall, fairly impressed.
Tyler Smith you obviously don’t know what your talking about putting in external annotations and video cards is a RUclips feature not something you do while editing so stop.
By the way if anyone is thinking about buying a Mac + Final Cut Pro, buy the education bundle if you're a student! $200 gets you ALL the Apple Pro Apps (FCP, Logic, etc). I think they require a .edu email address for the software bundle, but the education discount on Apple hardware appears to be an honor system.
I got a base model 2018 MacBook Pro a few days ago. I'm a graphic designer, and even though I have a very powerful desktop PC, I needed a portable computer to take to work and client meetings. It's great! It allows me to do really responsive 2D editing with Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Lightroom. Don't get me wrong - I wouldn't work with massive raster images on it, but it's really worth the £1200 I paid for it for the power, portability and amazing user experience
I have a 13" 2012 version. I take it with me on all my trips and it has survived all the knocks, falls, bangs and keeps on working. The build quility alone is what is preventing me going back to a Windows-based Plastic laptop. Mind you, this little MBP has 16gig of ram and a 1 TB HD
I just starting using same computer this week (daughter provided a chromebook by her high school so I took this from her lol ) and I love it and im typing this from a Samsung phone and haven't used an apple phone since 2011
Really good and fair review. I’m confused by one of your last statement, though: “the operating system is limiting, for some”. Just curious what you’re thinking of. As a Unix/Linux guy I feel completely crippled on a Windows machine, specifically because *nix isn’t under the covers. What is MacOS missing? Is it the games/apps people want to run? If so, that makes sense. Is it something else? I like your point re the build quality. I’ve realized over my many years that most people don’t care how crappy something feels in use, or how inelegant it looks. I care a lot, and am willing to pay (a lot) more for not-a-hunk-of-plastic.
LOL. They're awesome until you accidentally do a system update and screw up everything. Not to mention all the hops you have to go through to get it correctly working. My HP laptop has an Intel wireless card which isn't supported by macOS. So that means no Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.
Jose Javier Flores ya I see your point but I find it fun and rewarding to spend the time making it work. Yes system updates can screw things up but you can still get the data back to back up then try again. It's a really fun challenge I feel to get a hackintosh up and working. I spent a total of about 3-4 hours to set up mine and another 2 hours to update it to Mac OS Serra.
Pretty awesome to see an unbiased review. I have always used apple products at home, but have always felt much more comfortable with a Windows / PC setup at work and in a business setting. Too many people are too closed-minded to recognize the merits of both and take them for what they are. Thanks for keeping it real!
It’s now been one year since I am using both a MacOS and Windows. I have a macbook that I use only for work and school but I also built a Windows Desktop computer for gaming and photography. Couldn’t be happier. Both have their ups and downs you just need to find the balance
Thanks for an informativ review. Just bought myself a MacBook Pro 15" retina mid 2015 model with 256 SSD disk and 16 GB of RAM already installed. This previous model comes with more connections than the later model you reviewed so that's an advantage. So if you do not need the latest model for some reason earlier models are still for sale at a better price and with more connections.
All my professors scoffed at us for using final cut x because avid media composer was the industry standard. I have not once since college heard of anybody cutting anything on Avid
Nice review. I would add a couple of things. 1-With Parallels or WMWare you really run virtual windows machines that are fast, reliable even better than being on windows (besides gaming). One gets messy? Drop a copy or revert to snapshot. 2-MacOS is amazing. 3-2nd hand value? You'd be surprised how well Macs hold their value in time. If you buy them well (10% discount is easy to find) after a couple of years that machine's value is around 70% of what you paid. 4-Ridiculously reliable, with amazing customer care (Apple Store and more). 5-Expensive? TCO it's good entry price they're very much so.
IF a Macbook Pro would be a car, we would have only one iDoor and one iKey-hole which would be also a port for iFuel. If you don't have enough space just upload passenger and baggage into your iCloud and get them wherever you want....roflmao xD
Yes, I used Windows for my whole life (95, XP, and Vista) then my dad buys an iMac when I was 10 years old. I was so excited because I liked Apple back then and then I slowly started to hate macOS, because it was hard to use keyboard shortcuts. A lot of hacks were only for windows too so I hated it. PC' s are better in every way to me. I can't go back to macOS. As he said in the video "the OS might be a little constraining for some people" but he really means, "it's crazy restrained".
@Sam Stringer I strongly disagree lol... the only real thing windows does better is games... anything else is crappier. Ok it is cheaper but better... hell no. if I could eliminate windows from my life I would be a Linux/Mac only guy.
Fabio Guedes Better is subjective. But it is a fact that Windows and Linux can do MUCH more than OS/X. Mac can do things that those also cannot, but it's so small it's almost nothing. Although I do find the OS/X interface very pleasing to look at.
I bought the 15", so I didn't have the choice to get the Touch Bar or not, I have found it useful when watching movies, because you can scrub, but most apps don't support it, so you just end up having the control strip expanded the whole time. One thing that I am interested in is how well that handles heat, as the non touchbar pro only has one fan, compared to the two you usually get
I have a 2011 17" macbook pro (16gb of ram and SSD card) as my daily driver. I used PCs most of my career and switched over in 2011. The machine hasn't hiccupped in 9 years of use. That's a selling point. Just bought a macbook pro 13" for on the go...
I've been using various computer systems since the 80s. Mac OSX has some feature that many cannot beat: Spotlight search. Try searching for a word. Documents will start popping up in no time. A friend was astonished when 4000+ documents showed up in a second when I, being old and occasionally forgetful now, used Spotlight to search for words that was used in my recent documents. That to me is a productive tool, especially searching massive code archive written by someone else without even having to import them into some development software.
George Gear Makes no difference mate, import tariffs will affect whether we're in the EU or not. In fact things will be even shitter when we leave since Brexit will mean no free trade with the EU meaning more FUCKING tariffs.
Kevin Connolly yeah if you wanna buy a merc or a Hugo boss suit. But a MacBook won’t because it doesn’t get made or shipped through the EU meaning we won’t be seeing a guaranteed rise in price in the future unlike poor Austria who are having these sort of decisions on import tariffs made for them. And it’s not like this guy can vote for a new politician who will change this, because EU politicians aren’t elected so they’re effectively stuffed
George Gear Apple products get made in China. The EU is China's biggest trading partner. If we leave the EU this trade agreement will no longer exist. China would prioritise a trade agreement with the EU over Britain as everything we can offer in terms of exports the EU can offer 10x better and cheaper. This is because the falling pound means manufacturers based in the UK have to pay more to import foreign goods like raw materials, so thus to cut losses must charge more to export their finished products. This all leads to increased inflation which results in the value (price in this case) of products we buy rising and the money we use to buy them with not. This is why consumer based products like those from Apple are so expensive at the moment. I'm afraid to say that the uncertainty around Brexit is pretty much the root cause of all of this as foreign investors (which we rely on) move away deciding to save and invest elsewhere. This causes the pound to dip even further which only exacerbates the issues mentioned above whilst also increasing the liklihood of a recession which would negatively impact employment and total average income. The two main reasons why Apple products are cheaper in the USA is due to non-existent or low VAT in some states as well as Apple themselves pricing their electronics cheaper there. America's population is alot bigger than ours as well so VAT can afford to be much lower. The UK on the other hand benefits extensively from imposing VAT on its products which is why when we leave the EU, despite what Theresa May might say, I expect VAT to further rise to partly offset any financial damages Brexit might cause to the economy. This will again lead to things being more expensive to buy than if we had stayed in the EU. 😉
I really liked this review! It was fair, and pointed out pros and cons without being biased. I've been wanting to try out a MacBook lately, and have been thinking about getting this one in the future
Apple is never lie about their quality . I ever used ipad air2, ipad pro (9.7 inch) and macbook pro 2015 . I delighted glad to use it all. It helps me much. Thanks Apple !
No SolidWorks for mac unfortunately, I have a macbook pro and love it but as far as any sort of engineering design software you are pretty limited. If you partition part of your drive and load windows, the laptop itself will perform very well and you will kind of have the best of both worlds but 256GB is a little low for two operating systems and heavy duty software
Mr Cat na man windows 10 is great now. I hated it initially but the updates have made it worthwhile. Great for gaming and works great with adobe premiere pro
owning both, I can say the Huawei matebook x is on par with the macobook in terms of build quality. it comes in at 1100 bucks, but the microsoft store has it for 899. either way it's a cheaper alternative running windows which I personally prefer.
I have the opportunity to get a late 2017 MacBook Pro 13” 128gigs storage - 8 gigs ram for only $600. Should I do it?! I feel like the storage is a little weak, and I wanted a 15”. But it’s such a good deal. What do you think?
So i have the 13 touch bar version and I absolutely love it. The battery, screen, speakers, and how it feels makes it just that much more pristine than other plastic computers. The actual ports never bothered me I bought one $6 type c to type a and thats all ive ever need it. Great video, people dont give it enough credit than this thing deserves. And like you mentioned all the other apple products work wonderfully together. I can save things i need on the go from my phone to my desktop for later use. 👍
Sharky :D I know I am late, but it is perfectly enough, but I think you should consider buying the sd card adapter so that you can have your sd card on your macbook all the time
I bought a Macbook pro mid 2012 i7. Paid top $$$ back then. I've upgraded the HD with a SSD, maxed the memory and installed a new battery. This baby is still going strong after 5 1/2 years .
I bought MacBook 15” pro 2012 I like it with CD drive in it, but it’s heavy to travel around. I also have iPad Pro 9.7 inch bought from 2017. I travel every year for fun and start blogging, videos and I am thinking buying MacBook Air to travel and editing laptop. What can you suggest Greg? MacBook Air? Or MacBook Pro 2019?
@@zeleniawolfe I suggest you look into your options first though! I'm sure you might've been searching for quite some time now but look into your options! I've heard there are amazin' spec windows laptops that also get the job done. Mac gets the job done as well (depending of the variation of it with the specs) but you pay for what works best for you.

bruh... you know how ram and power hungry chrome is right? Is you PC lagging? Prob coz you have 10 tabs open. And unlike the macbook pro 2019, it doesn't wait too long to turn on the fans, thus destroying the pc...
I bought a new 2018 MacBook Pro with touchbar..To be honest, it think my mid 2012 MBP non-retina (upgraded to ssd and 8gb ram) is much faster.. damn u apple!
Got a pretty strong PC, but i really like my (older) Macbook pro 2013 Still working well, survived a ton of trips, and i can still edit my videos on the go.
It's very nice that people like you still exist. Usually, windows users and guys who build PCs, blame everything about Apple. It's not the best company out there but you get the point. Very cool video! :)
Reasons why I would never buy a Macbook: 1- Price. 2- OS: Most of the engineering programs I use do not have full compatibility with MacOS. 3- Horrible port selection > Must add a price premium for good dongles > Price. 4- Everything is soldered. 5- Underperforming GPU (if it exists) compared to similarly prices (or cheaper) Windows laptops.
Zakaria Youncha - 1. You'll be hard pushed to find a Windows alternative with the same or better specification for much less. 2. Thats fair enough, although Bootcamp does exist. 3. A price premium? A dongle costs about $5, a usb hub cost me less than $20. On a $1,000+ purchase? 4. Fair enough 5. Eh? The GPU, which is a higher spec than competing laptops from Dell etc, performs fine for me and I develop games on it!

Great machine, lack of ports was unacceptable for me though. I returned it and got the 2015 instead. Better battery life and all the ports I need for work.
I've been using the 2016 MacBook Pro 13 with Touch Bar and the 512GB SSD, and it's been holding up perfectly fine. I use it for school, media consumption and programming in Xcode, and everything just works, even with the High Sierra beta running. I really like the Touch Bar for text formatting in MS Word and things like that, and the extra 2 ports on the other side makes it possible to charge from both sides which is something I never thought I'd be using
Considering the fact that Windows 10 is on par with MacOS, unless you love MacOS there's no reason to get a Macbook. Windows is much easier to use in my opinion and it does more. For me, I want to start using my PC for gaming as well as the audio, photo, and video editing that I already do. Here in Canada, You can buy the 15" macbook for over $2000. Or, I can buy a stealthy gaming laptop with a GTX 1060 or even 1070, whereas the Macbook would be a giant waste of my time. I bought a Macbook in 2015 and ended up selling it a month or 2 later because it just wasn't worth it. I want to play Games with my friends that have Macbooks but even their $2000 computers can't even run Rocket League at more than 10fps. Also for Final Cut, the renders are quicker, but aren't the files insanely huge? My friend has to run them through a compressor because the files are multiple gigs just for a few minutes of video. I could be wrong. So again, unless you love Apple and MacOS, there's no reason to get a Macbook.
TheRealMikeShea you’re the kinda person who doesn’t know what macs are for. Let me tell you, it’s for professional video editing and NOT for shitty gaming
People programming MacOS/iOS applications like myself require a MacBook Pro/iMac. Clearly you're not within that segment, therefore making it useless for your intended purposes.
TheRealMikeShea just buy a desktop top cuz who the fuck gaming on a laptop, and besides gaming on a laptop will kill the battery faster. It won’t last one year
I definitely agree that a MacBook isn't really a good option for gaming. that doesn't mean theres no reason to buy it. it's mostly used by professionals who need to take it to work and need reliability, stability for the programs they will use. as a uni student this is really important - I need it to work when I take it to uni and not be in the middle of updating or spamming me with alerts about my firewall.

Astfgl you have the 2016 not the 2017
Same basic design, but with a Skylake processor instead of a Kaby Lake.
Astfgl updated keyboard as well it’s butterfly 2.0
"MacOS isn't a problem for me. I'm proficient in using all three major OS'es, and as a software developer it's good to have direct access to all three as well. So many people lock themselves into a single OS and refuse to touch anything else". I just want to clap for this sentence. Well done
Vic The Tech Champion The 2016 MBP was the first with the gen 2 butterfly keyboard. Gen 1 was only on the first two generations of 12" MacBook. Thankfully, because that first version sucked.
Half the people bashing the MacBook haven't even touched one
I love macOS, but just despise what hardware apple chooses...
I mean come on I can get a laptop with the same price but with better specs its just too overpriced
Yeff Like he said, have you actually touched one? Just because a laptop has lower specs doesn't mean it's worse.
for real...i mean, the Dell Xps is supposed to be better in terms of spec but I've heard loads of complaints about hardware breaking and other issues
Nethir Osman correct !! I’ve had mine for a few yrs now with no problem
MacOS is a drawback? LMAO.
Most people I know own the Mac FOR the MacOS.
Jake Roosenbloom same
Windows is better than MacOS. But you can just instal windows on a mac for $100
It's not. The updates are god damn awful it's optimized like ass and can hardly even run anything without lagging even on the most up to spec systems, while macOS is reliable, fast and optimized even on the lowest hardware. Windows is just good for gaming, macOS is good for everything, but gaming.
I got my windows license for 3€ off ebay..
My 4 year old laptop runs windows 10 just fine, have you never owned a windows computer before?
HHAHAHAHAHA
Make a video saying the best laptops for college students
That battery life is so great! I have the same model MacBook Pro too, but I only manage to get 7 hours total (Only using Safari). It still charges so quickly though. Nonetheless, I absolutely love this computer, and it made me switch fully to Apple. I've been using Android and Windows for years, Apple ecosystem feels so refreshing.
*A quick update to my comment*
The issue was purely with the screen brightness. No doubt.
Spesifik Brush I get a whole day with my xps 13.3
Good job, would you like a cookie?
How much are they paying you?
Derp Derp, Sure... a whole DAY with it turned off. LOL
It's such a shame that they ditched the magsafe charge port in the current macbook pros. Definitely one of the key selling features of the older products.
thedrkjones11 such a stupid decision. They had a charging solution that was objectively better, and they dropped it for seemingly no good reason.
MagSafe was great, but it's just not as big of a deal anymore because battery life has improved & you'll hardly have to charge your MacBook in dangerous situations. Also, it's no longer proprietary & there are third-party magnetic ends to add on if you still want that.
thedrkjones11 yo you can buy magsafe chargers that are basically the same thing
Hey, can someone help, please? I have (2) of the charger extensions somehow, but they're for my 2011 MacBook Pro charger. I'm getting the MacBook 2017, so will it work with my new charger? Thanks in advance.
The extension cords will work for your macbook pro 2017, as I have an extension cord which was for my old 2011 macbook pro, and you can just switch them off and on anytime you want. The charging block that plugs into your outlet still has a option to use other cords.

You're turning into Linus, now you need to do TunnelBear and Synergy
Spectrum came here to post this, was not disappoint. Add a dash of ting and we're golden.
Spectrum can't forget freshbooks
If I was Greg I'd be offended, because Linus has stooped so low in terms of quality since the beginning of last year and started catering to little kids and not tech enthusiasts with his cringey sex jokes, faces, clickbait and awful thumbnails just because he wanted a little extra income.
Greg on the other hand is quite the contrary, he's constantly improving and is giving us unbiased reviews and not to mention those sexy af custom water-cooled builds...
and then he needs his own version of floatplane
Jack Lizzy creg hasn't been around for as long as linus, only time will tell if he'll go into the darkside
The touchbar is unnecessary. But if you have used it for a while... you can’t go back! It is amazing after a lot of use.
I get a lot of use out of the touchbar. It's great for screenshot and music/video control.
I use my Touch Bar a lot but I wouldn't recommend buying the more expensive model for it personally. What I would recommend buying the more expensive model for is the 2 extra Thunderbolt 3 ports and the better processor.
@Rommel Advincula you should buy one with touchbar, because that version have 2 fan, not because of the touchbar lol
the non touchbar version have only 1 fan, and in many scenarios, the temp will make you piss off.
Lie again
Thanks for the Info

I need to stop playing once i saw the notification
You don‘t like the camera for that price? Please show the camera of the Dell, which was more expensive 😂
Actually, $1499
, $1799, $1999 for ANY laptop is unacceptable unless the laptop is a beast at gaming. Where did I get those prices from? Well, from Apple's official website of course! This computer is limited and hard to use, I've used one myself, and I just felt limited. I had to ask so many of my friends how to use it, and just ended up selling it. Honestly, Apple fanboys should just stop.🤣
Ryz3n Just because you didn’t know how to use it it’s bad? I fail to see the logic here.
Really enjoying the community comments on this video. Sometimes the best part of the video is the peeps that come to watch it.

Wendel Lucas Damião For me helpful comment, thanks!
I'm glad that it helped you, if you need something that I can help, just tell me :)
league on macos? i get 50 fps more on bootcamp
Herres I know, but I can't install Bootcamp on my Mac
It's obvious why you prefer it. Mac OS is prettier. It's pretty much the Halo Effect of computers
I'm a PCMR guy but I also own the newest Macbook Pro and I love it.
So how has your experience been a few years in to mac os?
you just contradicted yourself
Finally someone talks about these perfect speakers.
You pay more so you DON'T have to use Windows. There is no price too high for that 💰
Yeah right.. What is Linux for after all? Smh
your forehead is mesmerising
Joao Rocha lmao linux is shit
Ata Kalin Linux is fun...
LethalTarget could fit a MacBook Pro in there eh?
2:24 "in that video right here"
*points to corner*
*nothing there*
Well, speaking of editing
Tyler Smith There was like a 10 second delay. Give the dude a break.
Tyler Smith you obviously don’t know what your talking about putting in external annotations and video cards is a RUclips feature not something you do while editing so stop.
Joshua Khall Yes, its a RUclips feature you can control :) Btw, this was a joke from the start so I hope no one is actually upset
It’s the info tab. The little “I”. So technically he was right
lol
By the way if anyone is thinking about buying a Mac + Final Cut Pro, buy the education bundle if you're a student! $200 gets you ALL the Apple Pro Apps (FCP, Logic, etc). I think they require a .edu email address for the software bundle, but the education discount on Apple hardware appears to be an honor system.
I bought both together, and I wasn't asked for any proof. Maybe if I just wanted the software it would have been different.
"I've streamed Netflix for about 12 hours..." 😂 Samee
The price is really the greatest disadvantage 😂
MacBooks also last for years with no issues and their customer support is fantastic if it ever does need service.
i want it for school and editing. i am saving up every penny for that!! thanks for the reveiw :)
I just starting using same computer this week (daughter provided a chromebook by her high school so I took this from her lol ) and I love it and im typing this from a Samsung phone and haven't used an apple phone since 2011
Watching this on the MacBook Pro 13 that I just got today lmao
with i5 or i7 proccesor and do you recommend it??
You should build a Hackintosh.
Nicholas Th YEEEESSSSSS. HACKINTOSHS ARE AWESOME!!!!!!
I spent a total of about 3-4 hours to set up mine and another 2 hours to update it to Mac OS Serra.
gee then don't update because they're not mandatory unlike with windows
He should, I surely love mine :)
Michael Davis i
was yours new or refurbished? how much did it cost? thanks!
Xgamer412 how is it?
How’s going your macbook? Do you have any keyboard issues?
All my professors scoffed at us for using final cut x because avid media composer was the industry standard. I have not once since college heard of anybody cutting anything on Avid
The first positive review I’ve seen so far! Can’t wait to get mine soon!
If you don't have enough space just upload passenger and baggage into your iCloud and get them wherever you want....roflmao xD
for me the drawbacks are
-The os, i dont like the interface
-The price
-The port selection
limitations of hardware selections
Aren't you the guy who has insane coil whine on his XPS 13 (like the rest of us ) ? So, how can you be very satisfied with the XPS ?
So basically it's more for youtubers rather than the casual user?
Macs are basically made for mac users, it's not very appealing to get into it but once your in you don't want to leave.
I have a mac for school, it is straight ass and i wish i could use something else.
How about making a video comparing Adobe Premiere, Final Cut, and Resolve 14?
I'll leave a like because... why not?
Is the 13” screen big enough for porn to be enjoyable?
MoneyOverFame 😂
Marko Marsanic Lol, it was an honest question.
MoneyOverFame hmm, Idk you should get the biggest IMAC for the best experience
Only if you can enjoy RUclips video. Lol
well, if you can enjoy "that" on 5" smartphone during travel, 13" will do hahahahaha
Ive had my MacBook A1278 i7 since 2013. Never a glitch. Runs strong. Im leaving this comment with it.
Amazing!
The base model costs around 1800 dollars (1499€) here in Austria... for fucks sake why...
Import tariffs. It’s the fucking EU that’s costing you more. So in Britain we leave the EU to get better prices on foreign goods
Kannst ja in der Schweiz kaufen...
Who else is watching this on their MacBook Pro?😃
Lol. I’ve had mine now for 2 days but was watching from my iPhone 8plus.
I'M NOT! :D
Issac 313 How’s going you mac? Do you have any keyboard issue?
same xD
I always watch reviews, when I’m getting something, hopefully I get it this week 😍😍🙏
A Mac does have it's place. Not with me but possibly with you.
I got the 8GB with 256 SSD as a birthday gift for school, but I just hope it works ok for programs Solid Work or Rhino as I'm a design student :/
a student.
I’d take Mac OS over the dumpster fire that is Windows 10 any day.
Mr Cat na man windows 10 is great now. I hated it initially but the updates have made it worthwhile. Great for gaming and works great with adobe premiere pro
Fucking ishit fanboy if I got forced to use ishit laptop step One install windows 10
Fill0092 I'm running boot camp on my 2017 MBP and windows definitely doesn't run as well as Mac OS
It's because you can't afford a MacBook lool
i can afford a mac why you think i cant
owning both, I can say the Huawei matebook x is on par with the macobook in terms of build quality. it comes in at 1100 bucks, but the microsoft store has it for 899. either way it's a cheaper alternative running windows which I personally prefer.
kyle brod I
I have the opportunity to get a late 2017 MacBook Pro 13” 128gigs storage - 8 gigs ram for only $600.
Do you think 128 gb are enough ? Make a video about that plz :cccc
Sharky :D I know I am late, but it is perfectly enough, but I think you should consider buying the sd card adapter so that you can have your sd card on your macbook all the time
its not enough @@AdinTheKid and card transfer is soo slow
Would this be good for programming (software engineering) in college
Probably want a Windows for programming as they have the most software.
Something told you too purchase?"? Aka the devil
Is it good for photoshop, Illustrator and Sketch app?
Im asking same question !
@Brendan Geyer what about AutoCad? I'm still looking for a new laptop, can't decide between windows or mac os. Btw i'm a civil engineering student. 🙏🏻
@@zeleniawolfe I'm currently running it on the 256g quad core 13" I have, runs autocad with ease.
@@anothergamer8506 i think i'll buy mac. Thank you!
"The fan only turns on when [...] or I'm on a Skype call and doing some things in the background like opening some tabs on Chrome" - Sounds like minimal use, so I hope you're not serious because that's NOT good design.
bruh... you know how ram and power hungry chrome is right? Is you PC lagging? Prob coz you have 10 tabs open. And unlike the macbook pro 2019, it doesn't wait too long to turn on the fans, thus destroying the pc...
I bought a new 2018 MacBook Pro with touchbar..To be honest, it think my mid 2012 MBP non-retina (upgraded to ssd and 8gb ram) is much faster.. damn u apple!
Got a pretty strong PC, but i really like my (older) Macbook pro 2013
Still working well, survived a ton of trips, and i can still edit my videos on the go.
It's very nice that people like you still exist. Usually, windows users and guys who build PCs, blame everything about Apple. It's not the best company out there but you get the point. Very cool video! :)
Greg is broken again , need to reboot him.
NGL, I subbed because you're very handsome. Thanks man!
Reasons why I would never buy a Macbook:
1- Price.
Zakaria Youncha -
1. You'll be hard pushed to find a Windows alternative with the same or better specification for much less.
2. Thats fair enough, although Bootcamp does exist.
3. A price premium? A dongle costs about $5, a usb hub cost me less than $20. On a $1,000+ purchase?
4. Fair enough
5. Eh? The GPU, which is a higher spec than competing laptops from Dell etc, performs fine for me and I develop games on it!

Outside of Europe I got them cheaper than that.
Great machine, lack of ports was unacceptable for me though. I returned it and got the 2015 instead. Better battery life and all the ports I need for work.
Just buy a dongle FFS.
Excellent Review!! Greg mentioned Touch Bar decreased battery life which many Broadcasters failed to mention.. 10 Points for that. Subscribed.
MacBook Pro 13" + Linux
:D

"I can edit 4K content"
Liar. That's a 1080p video. It literally says it in the bottom of the editor.

I've been using the 2016 MacBook Pro 13 with Touch Bar and the 512GB SSD, and it's been holding up perfectly fine. I use it for school, media consumption and programming in Xcode, and everything just works, even with the High Sierra beta running. I really like the Touch Bar for text formatting in MS Word and things like that, and the extra 2 ports on the other side makes it possible to charge from both sides which is something I never thought I'd be using
I like your review, no BS, straight to the point! Thanks.
The MacBook Pro is sooo much better than the windows computer!!!!!!!!!!!
In what
Derek Jonez, why do you say that? Windows 10 is complete garbage compared to macOS it's a pile of ugly, inconsistent, split up shit.
@@robertp457 lol the graphics card on the surfacbook 2 is lower quality than the mbp...but it is a great laptop for a very good price!
It better be......you are paying shit ton of money.
Oi Lad - ok
💪
Woww one of the best Macbook reviews on youtube if not the best. Great job!
I just bought a G7 in alpine white to replace my old Alienware desktop I bought like 5,6 years ago. I'm pretty excited it comes in on Wednesday.
