Hey Jake @Churchfront, you can have the color temperature you want right now, without spending more than $20, for your front fixtures just by using a full CTB gel. Converts your tungsten (3200-3300K) to daylight (5500-5700K). Save $4000 (by not buying 4 nice LED ellipsoidal fixtures) and get what you want today. This is common practice in theatre and standard photography when dealing with multiple light sources of different color temps.
Your talk about needing cooler front colors was very relevant to me. Theatre front lighting is often way too warm and removing some of the CTO or other amber gels that are placed on these fixtures, really cools the light to make it seem more natural and less overly warm. Great info for lighting beginners with the different positions and intensities of light. Keep it up!
And as always...I smashed the like button for ya!

Ah yes! Good point. We are actually using those gels to make our hair light warmer. Why did I not think of doing the opposite for front lights!? Thanks David!

@@Churchfront go to leefilters.com and use their color matching calculator to move from warmer to cooler or in any direction. Make sure you get the high temperature type for your ellipsoidal or they will burn!

Just a small note for future, almost everyone that does these type of seminars always have cables and stuff everywhere, if you are teaching excellence, do it with excellence.
Also, at 57:45 the colour change is due to the BMPCC cameras having dual native iso, this helps keep the grain down as you go higher, I believe it is native at 400, and 1250.

    • @lampie6075

Indeed, Dual Native ISO. Most of the time I try to start from one of these two ISO settings

Warmer lighting is typically more flattering for skin tones. I would not go with daylight as it will likely appear too harsh. Most people would prefer a warm glow. Not all the way to tungsten, but more toward 3500-4000K.

Just a note - you could always get a rig of fresnels to create a nice even wash for your band and/or stage with barn doors. The video just seems to give a negative connotation to fresnels for broadcast.

Your color shifts when you change ISO because you're moving in and out of your native ISO.
not only is noise added at higher ISO the the further away from your camera's native ISO the more you lost dynamic range and your colors shift.
Eg. Your native iso may be 800 and you may get less noise at 400 but you will lose some dynamic range and introduce some color shift.

A cheaper way to change the color of your key lights is buy gels to slide in front of the light that way you can get more lights and use it elsewhere on the stage

Such great information. Thank you. I am looking to upgrade my churches tech all around. We finally got a X32 vs our old analog but we stream with a MeVo. It’s terrible. We have a very bright church. Lots of windows. Even a couple windows on the band platform. Mostly older people so the sanctuary stays highly lit the entire service. We are doing this on a budget so we are trying to decide between ptz optics or like Panasonic g7 probably going to get 2 angles. Recommendations?

Our church is an older church and has a lot of natural lighting. What kind of lighting would you recommend? Would you still recommend manual settings for the camera?

    • @jesustrevizo4718
      @jesustrevizo4718 3 года назад +1

Manual settings are especially important with natural lighting. You don’t want your white balance or exposure to change mid livestream.

    • @trina3176

@@jesustrevizo4718 Thank you! Would you recommend adding some LED lighting to the stage? Currently we only have natural light coming through the windows, some lights in the background of the stage, and some ceiling fixtures.

I inherited a Logitech Rally Camera which a 4k/30 PTZ camera. I've have tried every camera setting and every TV setting. I can't get the TV to appear sharp in the live stream. What am I missing? I don't know the sensor size but the letters in the powerpoint look blown out.
