Yeah but those are all Asian American actresses. And to be honest, picking a Japanese actress, may not be the best choice for a legendary chinese heroine, and boy will there be backlash from the chinese community. As for asian, or chinese actresses who have penetrated the Hollywood market to some degree perhaps, Zhang Ziyi, Fan bing bing (who played Blink in Xmen days of future past, but she's a bit too pretty in my opinion), Tang Wei (in my opinion suits the role). But there's already been a live action movie of Mulan back in 2009, which was actually pretty damn good actually, realistic and very melancholy. But I guess you want to see a Hollywood take on it. I reckon the 2009 live action of Mulan is the best you can get out of the story, and i don't think Hollywood would be able to trump it.
That's my point. The general audience only knows those specific Asian American actresses. Also, I like Fan BingBing. I wouldn't be mad if they cast her. And I don't need a live action Hollywood movie, but you know that's it's crazy enough to happen. I think Karen looks badass as Katana and would pull off a good Mulan.LooYee
