Thanks Dave as the number of Non Tesla Apps that look like the actual Tesla app can actually catch people out. When you open one of the others you are bombarded with adverts.
Thanks Dave. I installed the Tesla app the other day but have yet to use it. As more superchargers open up to non Teslas this will be increasingly useful for me getting reasonably priced rapid charging.
Excellent as usual ,will probably use tomorrow am off to Sheffield in my MG4, as you say they are rolling more out,,, so come on Tesla remember the North East we are Tesla EV supercharger shy
Thanks Dave for the clear explanation, although I've already set up my app and charged my Ioniq 5 for the first time on Christmas day. I presume that the app only shows superchargers open to non-Teslas if you dont drive a Tesla. Is that right? Unfortunately, my car would only charge at 40 kW due to the battery not being preconditioned. This is an Ioniq issue, of course. The only way to precondition the Ioniq is to navigate to a charger, using the built-in navigator, which doesn't include Tesla superchargers yet. The workaround is to navigate to a known charger, then drive past to the supercharger. I also block two bays at pre-V4 stations due to my charging port being located at the right rear of the car; something you've pointed out in previous videos. This does make me hesitant to use busy sites.
Hi Dave. I installed the Tesla app following an install of a Powerwall at home. One bit of information I wish Tesla would add to the app is the version of charger at each location. I drive a IONIQ5, knowing where the version 4 chargers are would be very helpful.
when i loaded the app i got very few chargers listed not the list you had. ??? for me there is nothing around newcastle upon tyne and only found 1 in scotland. my nearest would be Harrowgate
Hi Dave, I’m enjoying your clear and straightforward explanations and content. Tell us please why you chose a Model S out of the Tesla range. I presume you went Tesla out of any EV mainly due to the charging network ? Cheers.
Hi Andrew, an interesting question that I covered in an older video. The supercharger network was a major factor, no other EV 4 years ago could work under my circumstances. I had the budget for a new Model 3 basic model and applied for and was approved for a lease, but on closer analysis I changed my mind. Approaching retirement buying meant far more sense than leasing. Also the used Model S was the same price, also came with a Tesla 4 year warranty and the remainder of the 8 year battery and drivetrain warranty, plus the S is a much better car, roomier, 7 seater, air suspension, better performance and had a longer range. It was the right car at the right price at the right time.
Thanks Dave, makes sense. As you’ve said, the S and X were more luxury products created to fund the aim of mass production later. If you can get into one then great. I’d be keen to the same if I could as I’m 6’ 5” and an S is probably a better fit. Also I miss my work leased A8! Similar but not the same ⚡️!
I've used a Tesla supercharger once with my Polestar in Inverness, the first one didn't work but as I was the only one there just jumped across to the next one, worked no problem and got really decent speed. I just wish there was more locations open for the occasions when I can't use Ionity.
Dave, great little video. Is it possible to tell us about the £1/minute idol charge? I know some some other companies have a £10 idol charge but £1/min sounds excessive, especially if you have a lapse in memory for 10 minutes or someone collars you for a chat etc!? I guess the charge (cost) only starts when the car or charger stops the charging? But hopefully it doesn't start at a certain percentage point or something? Also, I wish there was a button on the app to show us where all the V4 chargers are currently - it doesn't matter that much but it would be nice to just tap a card and charge!
Hi Bob, Superchargers are generally busy, so after the charging session stops, you have 5 minutes grace period. Then the idle fee applies. Good etiquette says never use this, I have never been charged in 4 years charging. The app tells you when it is complete. Re: locations, expand and contract the map to see all available.
Hi Dave thanks for the video. I know this is 8 months old but I hope you might still reply. I have a Kia E-Niro and I've just signed up to the Tesla app but it doesn't show charge non Tesla. Have they changed the way they are doing this? Thanks for any help.
Hi you need to add you car in the app you need your vin number and driver license press the 3 lines top right corner then my products next add product at the bottom pop up press vehicle next add vehicle next page add vin. As I waiting on my EV to come so this is how far I can go put follow the instructions.
It didn’t work for my i3 at the Trafford Centre Manchester… I tried a number of times, but to no avail. Does anyone else have problems with an i3 and Tesla charging?
Mine won't charge i3 , could be a comms problem software won't communicate with the supercharger and also our low peak charge rate of 50 kw /hr. Would have been nice to break the price cartels seemingly operating currently .
@@stevenbennett4568 Thank you for responding. I posed the Q to the BMW EV helpline for comments on general EV charging using third party (Non BMW) chargers and about Tesla compatibility specifically. They’re way, way behind Tesla IMO. I look forward to their response. On a related note the BP EV charging App doesn’t send out text or email validation to create an account either. Tesla is looking excellent.
Tesla now charge £8.99 a month for non Tesla cars. So for that you get the cheaper price. Not bad if you use them a lot. You will soon make up the £8.99 you payed.
Top right click menu scroll down charge my other EV that’s all it does. If not there probably wrong app. Official app is a red Tesla T and from Tesla inc.
Oh dear! Why oh why doesn't Tesla come into the 21st century and provide contactless everywhere. I believe that all new chargers in the UK are supposed to have that anyway. I want to pay for charging just like I used to pay for petrol, the way I make all small payments nowadays. That method is vonrtactless . To hell with accounts and apps. They are just a legacy of Tesla's business model and just pointless.

Cheers Dave. Been meaning to download the app for ages. Great to be talked through it 👍
I have a Tesla Powerwall so had the Tesla App, but took me a while to locate the Charge a non Tesla! This will be welcomed by many!
We haven’t got our e3008 yet. But all ready got the Tesla app installed, signed up and ready to go.
Cheers Dave ... very useful advice

That’s why the V4s are so important, but I don’t know how that satnav reacts best to pick a known nearby charger to trigger it.

Nice things is that theTesla app works also with Tesla Powerwall & Tesla cars.

With the V4 superchargers are there any advantages of using the app rather than contactless? 🤔
If you are a non member, no difference. If you are a member, the app will automatically detect this and charge the lower rate.
Thanks Dave 👍

I see Tesla are increasing prices !!!!! Gone from 35p to 40p at lakeside Essex

I have the correct app but nothing in the menu saying what you say… very frustrating as i would like to know where they are
It's good isn't it
Hi Dave. Can you subscribe for just one month (non-Tesla driver on UK holiday)?
Yes you pay for the month whether or not you use it and if you don’t pay the next month it just stops. One month is fine
@@davetakesiton Cheers Dave. Thank you for the info. Very much appreciated.

Tesla didn’t have to make them public but if you want to get a cheaper price it’s it’s a small inconvenience to pay.
