    In scotland we have something called ChargePlace, you obly have to pay an annual fee of £20 for a swipe card to access the charger as long as you go to a charger which is free to use (which is about 90% of them). I'm, not sure if England has anything like this but it is very useful if you cannot do home charging.

    Type 2 is for X and S, as they don't have CCS connector, but tesla modified the Type 2 for DC charging. For the new supercharger stations, only CCS will be available and S and X owners will have adapters to compatible with the Type 2. Also, CCS port cannot fit into the charging area for X and S so thats why they use Type 2 for AC and DC too.

    Thank you, great video! Do you think it's possible to live with Tesla in the UK without having a home charger?

    • @SpawnPoiint
      @SpawnPoiint  3 года назад +1

      I think it would be difficult if there weren't any superchargers near by, as most public chargers are only 7kWh. I wouldn't do it personally, but if I had to I might.

    Thanks for the video. Very helpful. Presumably a lot of the time when you’re out and about you just want to charge enough to get you home. So for instance how long would it take on a supercharger to get 50 or 100 miles worth of charge

    • @SpawnPoiint
      @SpawnPoiint  3 года назад

      Thanks for watching. They charge at around 500 miles an hour, so 6-12 minutes would do 50-100 miles.

      I’m not sure at the moment. I’ve read mixed reviews on the current deliveries, some do and some don’t come with them. But the ones that don’t are given a $200 credit for the Tesla store to buy a cable. I bet the MY next week too, so I’ll find out Monday…

      I guess it depends how easy it is for you to charge. Can you charge at work? I wouldn't fancy going out of my way every week just to charge the car, but if it was at the office/shops/cinema etc that would be fine.

      @@SpawnPoiint I'm an IT consultant and two of the clients office I visit have a charging station although I'm not sure if I'll be allowed to charged there. Also there's a charge station very close to my house and around me but I've always thought the point of owning an EV is to be able to charge at home because it will be cheaper. This is why I thought I'd ask before getting myself into tesla's pcp contract and later regretting it.
      Just to add, none of my neighbours own an EV as well. Which is like an alarm bell ringing in my ear. What do you still think, is it still a good idea?

      You're right. I've no idea how it's going to work. At the end of the day, Elon/Tesla want the world to move ahead with EVs, and Tesla are the only real 'network' that are doing it properly.
