      That's a joke right? Nearly all first models of every brand are luxury cars. Tesla, Jaguar, Porche, BMW, Mercedes. These are just the ones form the top of my mind. What we need is cheaper entry point models with large batteries.

      Don't like gloss black plastic on the interior of a car, definitely don't want it on the outside. Around the wheel arches where every bit of crap thrown up by the tyre's is going to scratch it. Other than that it could be fun with the more powerful version.

    Zeekr is working at establishing themselves and their style. Maybe more is more right now but as they make more cars, they'll not think they need to put in so much content. Overall, quality looks good and at least it's not a boring color inside and out.

    I am sorry but can someone tell why isn't Volvo putting so much effort in the interior of the latest offering from them? I mean this looks like a lot more thought went into the interior compared with the EX 30 for example. The current VW alternative feels and looks like a public bus when you see what zeekr are doing apparently at the moment.

      Volvo put in a ton of effort in their interior. There is so much in terms of sustainable materials, textures, streamlining it to put the buttons and such in the center to add space to it. The Volvo is very Scandinavian in design. This oddly is designed in Sweden, but doesn't have that Scandinavian look/feel into it at all.

      Depends on the geopolitical situation of various export markets. The BYD Seal for instance, starts at 50,000 AUD in Australia, the equivalent of just $33k USD, while in Europe, it starts at 43k Euro, or the equivalent of nearly $46k USD. So why does the same car cost 13k USD more in Germany versus Australia? Well for one thing Australia no longer has a domestic carmaking industry to protect, so Chinese carmakers will price their cars very competitively, but various European countries do have domestic carmaking industries to protect, so a company like BYD would actually price their cars higher so as to not appear to be trying to grab too much marketshare too quickly, lest the European carmakers go crying to their governments about the need for more protectionist measures against the Chinese.

      @tren133 10 месяцев назад +1

      @@Piccsqueak You can go watch Wheelsboy channel's review of the Zeekr X from about 6 months ago, which shows more features. Regarding the passenger seat zero grav recline function, it can do so because the back seat bottom folds UPWARDS. This feature is limited to the 4 seat version of the car, where both rear seat bottoms can fold up, to create a wide cargo area of sorts in front of the rear seat where you can put a long object, or also good for pets. Very innovative design, and unique in the car world I believe. Similar to what you see in many crew cab pickups, where the rear seat bottom can also be folded up for more storage.

    Worth noting that ZEEKR are reported to have been earmarked for CATL's new CM (Condensed Matter) battery, going into production q4 2023. Barring production problems, with that battery, does this mean that the X will get
    a significantly lighter?
    b significantly more range
    c significantly cheaper
    d 1, 2 or all 3 of the above?
    I rather like the X, it is, at least, something that is different from all those other grey boxes.
    Obviously, price is going to be a major factor as it is for every new name coming onto the market. I would be very interested if the price can come in at close to the MG4, not at all interested if the price looks more like that of the Volvo EX30. I can understand the EX30 being priced where it is, but a new brand can't rely on novelty to sell, as has been found by BYD.
    I've got no beaf with BYD, but their cars appear to be no better than Mrs, but are priced about 10% higher. That makes no sense at all. MG is a well established brand in Europe (I know it's not British, but the MG badge has helped market penetration) while BYD is only a name familiar to very few.And the advantage that MG has goes further; they have an established, extensive dealer network (many of them with good names) and a longer guarantee. BYD seems to be having problems establishing any positives at all atm.
    Geely/Volvo does have the advantage of their association with the "Premium" Volvo name and network, but with the EX30 being "Good enough" and the Smart #1 being similar, I can only hope that the ZEEKR will fit in under these brands. Unfortunately, I doubt it based on the pricing strategy of pretty much every Chinese company (with the obvious exception of MG).
    We'll just have to wait and see.

    • @jwickerszh
      @jwickerszh 10 месяцев назад +2

      They even sell an accessory bag that fits the frunk. There is a tire repair kit in the frunk as well, under a piece of foam that acts as a "false floor".
      I don't really see the point of a frunk TBH, the trunk is big enough, and there is plenty of storage space under the trunk floor as well to "hide" stuff.

    Take it with a pinch of salt range is no different when it comes to describing Chinese or WLTP measurements. Both are out by about a third in the summer, half in winter. On that measurement alone this car won't suit long distance driving which is what a car of this size should excel at.

    • @OenkePoenke
      @OenkePoenke 10 месяцев назад +2

      CLTC is even worse than WLTP - more like the infamous old NEDC, which suggested you about 20% longer ranges even than WLTP. E.g. Ioniq classic (28 kWh): 280 km NEDC, about 230 km WLTP (18% less) and 200 km (124 miles) EPA (29% less than NEDC, 13% less than WLTP).
      Oh wow, just searched and it's even worse: I've found a page on licarco, which shows a screenshot of chinese figures for an unnamed car with 509 km CLTC, 484 km NEDC and 398 km WLTP - no EPA figures mentioned. That would give the oldest Ioniq about 294 km of CLTC range, meaning EPA range would be 32% - or almost one third! - less than CLTC range

      @@OenkePoenkeactually, NEDC with 80% margin is good for most EV in summer. 70 in winter. It is interesting that my model 3 can only do 80%EPA range with OEM tire in fall(AC off) , 50% EPA range with winter tire in 0 degree with ac heating, while my friends model 3 in China can do 80% NEDC range, 100% EPA in fall with ac off.
