@John Arat Or he noticed the firefighters were making a scene? They sat there for what, ten seconds when they could have just backed up four feet and been off?
@John Arat Yes, I mean the fire "medic" (not sure why they refer to it as "medic" considering they only operate at first responder level). Sure they have the right of way, it still doesn't stop the operator from backing up and moving on. Hell, even when he couldn't have pulled forward he sat and waited an extra four seconds. There's nothing wrong with firefighters fixing a situation too by using a bit of common sense. What fire lane? What are you talking about?
@John Arat Looks like the city of Vancouver needs to mark the street or put signage up to tell motorists. If there's no marking, and I can't find anything saying you can't stop in front of a firehall in traffic, then they probably will stop there. Sure, it should be common sense not to but common sense isn't so common these days.
@John Arat I know what a fire lane is but thanks for continuing to explain it lol. Now is that 6 meters from the front of the station or 6 meters from the curb. What many people fail to realize - if the person driving the fire truck decides your vehicle needs to move, they can and will wreck your vehicle with theirs, with no liability. You'll be footing the bill for their damages, too. And that taxi at the end really didn't have time to react.
@Verbal Diarrhea Most municipal fire departments have immunity from claims of damages during the line of duty, even if you're at fault. I imagine it must be different in the department you are in though. I do agree that it's on first responders to drive safely, given the fact that most people in little matchbox cars often don't. Failure to yield, cutting off ambulances, running red lights, tailgating ladder trucks, etc.

OH come on! How can they demonstrate how important they are if they pull over like an intelligent human being would. AND STOP when you pass????? You have to get it together, lady!
I had a chief back in the 80s tell me constantly that the reason why they spent the extra money on the huge, big, thick bumpers was to give me a tool to push people out of the way. If they don't get out of the way in a reasonable amount of time, push 'em! The problem was that 'chief' wasn't my 'lieutenant' back at the house! If I came back with a scratch on the bumper, I had to ride back step for three shifts!
In today's world, that would be correct, we would. Back then people had common sense and knew from experience how to nudge people gently with the nice, chrome bumper in front of the 33,000+ pound fire engine with 500 gallons of water! Sometimes just the knowledge that they could and would do that made a huge difference. Back in the good ole days when we actually rode "back step" and always kept a couple spare spanner wrenches in the hose bed in case someone wanted to intrude on that "Stay Back 500 Feet!" That was before we were invaded by social-justice-warriors!
"Keep back 150m" good joke there. With a 100% eyesight you cannot read that from about 80m, so what am I supposed to do once I can read it? Reversing? Surely I won't do that on the road...
Fantastic video highlighting an issue that needs some addressing man. I'd also like to take this chance to remind most people that many of these cases aren't out of malice - rather, people panic and don't know how to react. Like you've said, the goal shouldn't be to single anyone out, but rather, to raise awareness for this issue as a whole and get people to yield properly.
Fire Phoenix Emergency Videos 火鳳凰特殊車輛影視 Thank you Jimmy! Yes that’s true, and I hope that with more exposure and awareness people can see what they should not do, or just realize that the emergency services don’t have it easy (even in a very ‘developed’ place like Canada...).
It also doesn't help, in the case of this hall, that their station is built alongside another building that sticks out further and, during this period, had the sidewalk covered in construction stuff such as scaffolding, right in everyone's line of sight.
True, people don't react well when startled, that's why you keep an eye out for the big red trucks and when the lights come on, get out of the way quick as you can.
Why panic when all you have to do is do your best to get out of the way.not just sit there and do nothing.they are emergency.most importantly not only it clearly says when you go for your licence to keep emergencies ways cleared or get the hell out of their way.but I see so many just sitting there even with sirens screaming.
That and drivers licenses shouldn't be given out as easily, the driving test should have a stress simulation and physically teach people how to react in high stress scenarios just like when a siren comes on or when someone cuts you off that you don't act like a dick and have a fit of road rage
I remember those days 😊🙃. Awesome catches Buddy! I don’t get it how some drivers can be this brain dead when it comes to emergency vehicles responding with Lights & Sirens. Grinds my gears and sure gives me a headache 🤕
I was watching the Weather Channel one morning as they were showing a live view over down town NY and there was an ambulance stuck in traffic while they had their lights on. It was the worst thing i saw that morning. God bless all first responders, you never know when you’re going to need them.
Too true although I think the cases here aren't the strongest. Two show a fire vehicle coming out from behind a wall and in the case of the first involving the engine, the sidewalk is a construction zone covered in scaffolding making things even worse vision wise for motorists and fire crews. The second clip, the firefighters are making a scene in my opinion. Their pickup has a reverse gear too and they could have easily used it and been on the way in seconds rather than wasting almost 10 sitting there.
These guys think that just because they are on their way to help someone who may be in a life/death situation, that they can run red lights and expect people to pull over so that they can go flying by. The arrogance and audacity of these people.
Not to mention, their ramp is blocked by a wall and on this day, the sidewalk blocked by construction fencing etc. Of course not everyone is going to stop on a dime when you drive down and think you're not going to have to exercise caution and pull right out. The 2nd clip, I think the firefighters are just bein dickbags. The pickup truck had room to proceed, their driver obviously needs more practice. Hopefully he isn't driving the Engine or Ladder. They also have a reverse gear too and could have backed up a bit and been off.
before getting into the fire truck, the firemen were taking their sweet ever loving time getting loaded it, 2 wrongs, idiots in cars and also the firmen
I like how this video is about putting blame on the drivers. The driveway is hidden behind the building to the right of it. They literally turning the siren on as the people going by expecting people to stop in 5 ft.
I HATE when people don't yield to a siren on an Emergency Vehicle!!! When I was an EMT, if I had to drive the ambo for any reason ( they didn't let me too often) because I would get on the mic and yell at people to move over and call them idiots lol
this is so common in Vancouver. Self Absorbed pedestrians and drivers glued to their cell phones, IGNORING or not even realizing there is an emergency vehicle trying to get by., They are also the first people to BITCH when Emergency (Police / fire / EMS) do not arrive fast enough when they call them. Should be a $10,000 fine to start. Its really bad in Richmond.
The Fire Stations where I live have a "Do Not Enter" box so for example if traffic comes to a stop, and there is a call then the units responding don't have to worry about vehicles blocking the driveway and increasing response time because there aren't any vehicles in that box.
The stations around here have there own traffic lights outside the bay that they can activate when they need to go to stop traffic and go. They also can change the lights at the intersections using infrared.
Nexus5150 yes in my city too but only one fire station in my city has that we have multiple the reason is the fire station doesn’t have a outsider bay they stay inside and the door is right next to the road so that’s why they built the box area they are smart if thinking that the other fire stations in my city has huge bays very far way from traffic there able to get out easy because traffic is far warship from them and there’s barely no traffic and this other fire station is like in the middle of no where no traffic Barely but they still have huge bay other fire station is next to this huge collage campus but it has a bay too far away from traffic no problem
Couple weeks ago I was coming home from running errands and I noticed a fire truck about a mile back in my mirror. I kept going while watching my mirror so I would know when to pull over. Well... the fire truck finally came about 100yrds of me so I pulled to the side with my indicator on and stayed there. Now the funny part of this is that as I pulled over... the idiot behind me got annoyed that I pulled to the curb giving him no room to pass, so he swerved around me and guns his engine. I raise my hands in the meaning "dude, are u serious?" He realizes why I pulled over about 50ft ahead of me and proceeds to pull over for the fire truck. Some people are really clueless to the world around them when they drive.
The second one was uncalled for, it's not their fault that they're stopping at an intersection. The car can just go into the EMPTY LANE that is next to it instead of coming all the way across the entire lanes. No disrespect to firefighters but use your heads, ambulances find an open lane and utilise it. Do the same instead of causing problems
@FIREMEDIC 2707 just because fire responses are an emergency service doesn't mean they have the right to do simple tasks that can better a response time. Also calm the fuck down, I don't care about whatever the fuck you do. I'm an Anaesthetic Technician yet I don't go saying "NEXT TIME YOU HAVE A SURGERY IM GOING TO BRING YOU OUT OF ANAESTHESIA WHILE YOU'RE STILL CUT OPEN" it's very childish and I would like to see what your Captain thinks about you saying these things and why you shouldn't be kicked off as an emergency services responder for ethics violation :)
This is why the road in front of most fire stations have signs that says do not block emergency entrance/exit, but as always drivers still sit on the road blocking the station.
I'm a volunteer so I respond to calls in my own truck from home. In Arkansas we can run lights and a siren and you would not believe the people you see. Yesterday while vehicles were pulling to the side some asshole on a black luxury SUV was blocking me in traffic
For a minute there, I thought you were filming in Toronto :P Great catches! I was a bit surprised the crews didn’t use their bullhorn much on the motorists (that first fire truck’s an exception :P). The police, fire and ems crews here in Toronto are known to really hammer down the bullhorn or air horn on unaware motorists and driving through intersections with a red light facing them :P For example, if the taxi failing to yield took place in Toronto, the first response vehicle would have laid down the bullhorn as the taxi drives by : P
SnipballTheBestBall Thank you! Yea I mean every city and department has its different styles and habits. Vancouver Fire & Rescue aren’t known for using a lot of horn, but it also depends on the driver. From personal experience inside emergency vehicles I also found that it can be harder to reach for the bullhorn ‘button’ than using the regular siren functions (depending on the set-up and system). Let’s hope they don’t need to use the siren like crazy all the time in order to get anywhere...
I've seen your videos all over and for some reason haven't subscribed until now. You create some awesome content. Nice video showing how careless some motorists are!
Great Video and great statement. I've been in a small city in eastern Luxembourg and I've seen similar situations as well. Nobody seemed to be able to constitute a rescue lane for the responding ambulances...
That's better than dumb driver park their car in front of the fire station bay door or park on side of the road leaving no room for fire engine to go through.
The second guy in the jeep grand Cherokee defense, he was where he was well before the medic truck initiated it's emergency gear. It is illegal to backup on a road.
I don't think these were a terrible example. I've seen much worse. The second clip, for example, could have been easily fixed with the truck reversing a couple feet and moving on. Instead, they sat there and waited. The two others you have to remember, they're both coming onto the street from behind a wall and at a time when the sidewalk was covered in scaffolding and god knows what else, impairing both the fire crews and motorists view.
Amed Tajan. I've been in the fire service for years and I'm not even mad about the guy in the jeep, however the pedestrians and the other scenarios that were shown in this video I can agree those people were douches for not being courteous. But it all comes down to driver responsibility for the guy driving the emergency vehicle too. NYC is the worst as far as people blocking emergency vehicles while responding
@@nikgedz1538 I can see it though, during this period of time, them actually not seeing them at first. In both clip one and three, the unit is parked along the wall so first there's that. Add in all the scaffolding and any other construction material, you now have cut down on both the crews and motorists ability to see up the street. Just my 2 cents. The second clip actually bugs me considering there was nothing stopping the trucks driver from backing up and moving on. Instead they sat for 10 seconds making a scene.
Downtown East side Vancouver BC , i litterly lived 3 blocks away from there and my favourite stripclub right across Orange No°5 ...near Main and Hasting...
Dude they are either going to a call that does not need a code 3 response or there are already a bunch of units either en route to the call or on scene of the call. THINK.
Lol you should have a speaker like the cops have in their patrol cars yelling outside of your emergency vehicle saying get out the of way you No driving Fartknockers😆😆
captured911 Thank you very much! Yea the traffic situation in front of fire hall 2 is a bit more tricky than most fire halls, but generally there’s always someone who won’t notice the road signs or just doesn’t care...

Hall 7 Emergency Photography Thank you Chris! Yes I agree, a little respect and alertness could go a long way here.
every second counts and they take 5 mins to get into the truck lol
That's cause there was already the first car going. Because there was already (at least) one car already going there, they didn't need to rush.
90 second max if it is an emergency, if you miss that timer they will leave you at the station
They do it here in europe

@@fireguy8549 I know but I am talking about my station in Europe I am not talking about this station
I was watching the Weather Channel one morning as they were showing a live view over down town NY and there was an ambulance stuck in traffic while they had their lights on. It was the worst thing i saw that morning. God bless all first responders, you never know when you’re going to need them.
People like these should NOT have their license 🤬
Agreed
Where the hell do you need to be so fast that you have to run right in front of a 10+ ton fire truck as it's trying to save lives
It's so crazy how people just get in the way. I see it anywhere that I'm spotting/buffing. Move over for emergency vehicles! Great catches as always!
I can’t count how many times I’ve been blocked by bad drivers or cut off by speeders in my ambulance. There’s no respect for first responders anymore.
The siren usage 🤤🤤🤤
The german siren is very good 😍ok... I live in germany but ... Yes

Yep
“ONLY YOU CAN PREVENT US FROM RESPONDING TO A FIRE”
Being a firefighter there is nothing more that irritates than someone not getting out of the way when I am on the way to a call.
Not trying to defend anyone but the guys in the last clip were clearly taking their sweet ass time getting in the truck
I hope all these people need help one day and don't get it because of people like them
These guys think that just because they are on their way to help someone who may be in a life/death situation, that they can run red lights and expect people to pull over so that they can go flying by.
EVERY SECOND COUNTS brilliant content. Keep it up!
Thank you very much!
before getting into the fire truck, the firemen were taking their sweet ever loving time getting loaded it, 2 wrongs, idiots in cars and also the firmen
I like how this video is about putting blame on the drivers. The driveway is hidden behind the building to the right of it. They literally turning the siren on as the people going by expecting people to stop in 5 ft.
I agree
Where are they gonna put a fire station at in New York then that place is always filled with drivers all the time so no fire station?
@@ActV_Studios What does that have to do with a video from Vancouver?

In Poland, one idiot blocked the firetrucks garage.
So firemen blocked his car from both sides as a revenge

Do you even know how screwed you are if you obstruct an emergency vehicle in germany ? Say goodbye to your next paycheck.
That is the slowest fire department I have ever seen.
Probably because it's a medical. If it were a fire they'd be moving.
If I was a driver and emergency vehicles were about to come out of the station or are behind you, I would DEFINITELY recommend getting out of the way.

Some people just dont need to have a drivers license. Like people who pull in front of any emergency vehicle
Every second counts, they didn’t seem to be in a hurry to get out.👍😁😎
That’s what I was thinking. I was looking for this comment.
I HATE when people don't yield to a siren on an Emergency Vehicle!!! When I was an EMT, if I had to drive the ambo for any reason ( they didn't let me too often) because I would get on the mic and yell at people to move over and call them idiots lol
Awesome Catch Engine 2 Looks Fantastic
Thank you! :)
Some people can real idiots. When you see lights and hear sirens, PULLOVER, or MOVE OVER!
The way E 2 stopped omg
I love the fact, that you can tell what the driver is wanting to say just from how they play their siren LOL.
1:12 what siren is that?
whelen gamma 2
Whelen Cencom Sapphire or whelen epsilon

mix of wail yelp and priority and then manual
this is so common in Vancouver.
Yes, that’s good, many places have those markings. Sadly a lot of cars still come to a stop inside the box...
@@TGGGlobalEmergencyResponses True, I believe here the police may do surveillance and possibly take pictures of the vehicle that stop in the box.
The stations around here have there own traffic lights outside the bay that they can activate when they need to go to stop traffic and go. They also can change the lights at the intersections using infrared.
@@stevenp1892 So much more convenient.
Imagine stopping RIGHT IN FRONT of a Quick Response Vehicle only to answer the phone.
Hmm I wonder how that guy got his licence 😂
choombini 04 no he just bought it from a random guy that doesn’t do his job

Yep sir you are so right on that EVERY SECOND DOES COUNT don't it I know.
Issue a super fine for blocking emergency vehicles ( three times normal costs), message would soon get through.
Forget the fine TAKE THE LICENSE FOR A YEAR. Only then will they learn that driving is a PRIVILEGE NOT A RIGHT.
FIREMEDIC 2707 are you really a child throwing a tempertantrum?
@FIREMEDIC 2707 calm down little bitch
Right. That jeep really wasn't in the wrong. Looks more like a bad location for a fire station
The police, fire and ems crews here in Toronto are known to really hammer down the bullhorn or air horn on unaware motorists and driving through intersections with a red light facing them :P
For example, if the taxi failing to yield took place in Toronto, the first response vehicle would have laid down the bullhorn as the taxi drives by : P
They should design the roads where the stoplights are not in front of the buildings, so there are no cars piling in lanes in front of the station
I've seen your videos all over and for some reason haven't subscribed until now. You create some awesome content. Nice video showing how careless some motorists are!
Well I’m glad to have your support! ;D
Thank you very much!
Great Video and great statement. I've been in a small city in eastern Luxembourg and I've seen similar situations as well. Nobody seemed to be able to constitute a rescue lane for the responding ambulances...
Rule #1 never block emergency vehicles like fire trucks 🚒 cop cars 🚓 and ambulances 🚑

When I hear an emergency vehicle siren , that's all I need to know to get out of the way NOW!

That's better than dumb driver park their car in front of the fire station bay door or park on side of the road leaving no room for fire engine to go through.
Where i live all the fire stations have light signals in front of there stations when it turns red they are going out to a call nobody blocks them
That's super cool wish we had them here

The station at us have a private area for the vehicles so we are exremly lucky

It is illegal to backup on a road.
Great clips - there are a lot of dumb drivers out there...
lucaslaughing Thank you man! Yes...too man! :(
I don't think these were a terrible example. I've seen much worse. The second clip, for example, could have been easily fixed with the truck reversing a couple feet and moving on. Instead, they sat there and waited. The two others you have to remember, they're both coming onto the street from behind a wall and at a time when the sidewalk was covered in scaffolding and god knows what else, impairing both the fire crews and motorists view.
sees the car blocking the fire truck
Also Me: runs to car and drags driver out of car and moves it
Okay the second part of the video where the jeep was in the way, that really wasnt that persons fault.
@Amed Tajan Apparently the fire pickup don't have reverse..
