Great video. Everyone knows you just have to do the work.
The important/insightful part was saying "stop and look and evaluate if you are just chasing learning for the sake of it...maybe you do need it for your job, but maybe you are already happy but you're not taking advantage of where you already are!"

This is exactly what I needed to hear. After coasting through my 20+ year career without much studying, I’m now preparing for the AZ-800 certification. It’s been over 10 years since I last hit the books, and I’m using a popular online course with labs and quizzes. Some of the content I ace, but there are parts where I fail miserably, and it’s tempting to just give up.
But like you mentioned, you have to put in the work. Accepting failure and being honest with yourself about what needs improvement is crucial. The fact that I can turn to an AI chatbot for tailored questions on the topics I struggle with, and actually have a conversation about the challenges, is incredibly helpful. Owning the feeling of losing is essential for growth and evolution.

Hard work is always the key! I think sometime we spend too much time looking for a way to optimize the learning process and may end up never starting the learning journey.

I've learned that step 0 to 1 is the most difficult, and the rest is always more pleasant and easier.

I like to compare the learning process to training for a sport. It requires a lot of effort, consistency, and sometimes sacrifices, such as giving up certain things like alcohol or junk food in athletics. You also need to be prepared for periods of stagnation. But in the end, you'll achieve your goal.

Thank you John, as always an inspiration. It's always easier to choose fun instead of work/study. I'm still trying to set the daily 1h study to mandatory, but nowadays we are so tired and stressed that we just want to relax and not think about it, but we know the need is there and there is no way around it... Time to stop procrastinating it 💪🏽🤜🏽🤛🏽

Hey John, great video! I really like this new channel. Maybe people would also be interested in how you find enough time for doing the hard work given the busy life that you have.

I think the biggest thing that helped me was somebody telling me to stop book collecting. Getting 10 books on the topic won't help you as much as finishing any one of them and doing all the exercises in that book. It's the same with training programs. If you want to learn Azure, AWS, Google, etc, find a training program and just get it done.
