    Oh yes ASMR derailleur maintenance!!! The close ups and the little nicks and noises are brilliant. Very good video on the subject!
    I already have the motivation to restore my parts in similar condition.

      Ultrasonics are great! The secret tip is to put a sealed glass container in the tank, that way you can use volatile solvents like kerosene or metho, without stinking up your workshop.

    Hi, I would like to know what kind of lube or grease or oil you are using for the upkeep of cycle parts.

    • @GoodBicycle
      @GoodBicycle  6 месяцев назад

      Hello. For bearings and other places where a thick grease is required, we use Divinol calcium grease. For the chain, any chain lube from a bike shop (for example, Shimano) is suitable

    How tight the pulleys' screews are? I never got if they need to be loose to avoid friction or not

    • @GoodBicycle
      @GoodBicycle  8 месяцев назад +2

      Tightening should be done moderately. but you should realize that the dust covers reduce the free travel. so you should tighten the bolts after the bike has been on the road for a while.

    I don't recall re: the ultegra deraiilleur, but for example my Altus derailleur, one has to be careful not to install the pulley.wheels the wrong way round, i.e. you can't just flip them over, as the spacing is a little different on each side... made that mistake once, and couldn't understand why the chain was rubbing on the cage...
    I grease the pin also that goes thru the bushing... not sure if that helps, makes no difference, or hurts...?

    • @EleanorPeterson
      @EleanorPeterson 3 месяца назад

      @@piotrn9450- Yes!🙂 It's a mucky bicycle, not a £235,000 platinum wristwatch! I think the guy warning others not to try servicing the derailleur didn't spend his childhood taking things apart to see how they worked. I did, and I bet that you did, too.
      It's good to get your hands dirty from time to time. You can learn all sorts of new skills; the key thing is to record exactly what went where and which way round it went. I used to use paper and pencil, but it's much easier now when you can photograph and video everything with a tablet or mobile phone camera.
      It's sad that so many of today's devices are apparently built to be thrown away rather than repaired. It's creating a whole generation of people unable to look after themselves, and too scared to try.
