Handi Quilter machines come with a convenient bobbin winder to pre-wind your bobbins. Studio Educator Vicki Hoth shows how to properly setup and use the HQ bobbin winder.
Your RUclips helped me troubleshoot a problem I was having with my bobbin winder. The bobbin was stationary and the machine spindle was turning without moving the bobbin. I did as you said - took a screw driver and ever so gently pried them apart and IT WORKED ! KUDOS to you and thanks for mentioning that in your RUclips ! I’m in business ! It was the first tie I’d used it ! Thanks so much !
I was having a problem with winding Glide bobbins: the thread constantly popped out of the tension disks. So I wound the thread once around the loop of the thread mast (just a bit of extra tension) and then adjusted both the guide loop position and the main tension - and wound at #2 speed - slower, but it worked much better. With the auto shut off, I can set it up, clip the thread end, and then walk away and let the bobbin winder do its job. Worked great.
I have been having the same issue and it drives me crazy! I have just been putting my finger to the left of the tension disk, and it keeps it tight enough to keep it from wiggling out.
Just got a new HQ Amara and could not get the bobbin winder to work. I had the same problem with the tension disks. I tried your solution and it worked like a charm. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I don’t know you, but I love you! Spent hours trying to figure out what I was doing wrong because I was having the same problem with glide thread. Tried your trick and it worked! Thank you so much !
@@angeculler so glad people comment on here even years after the fact, as I have been having same issue and didn't realize I was also using glide thread and tried the trick and hope it keeps working. Was ready to go into dealer and it now saved me a trip. Love these help videos!
Can this machine wind a 17mm bobbin. I have gotten several bobbin winding machines but none seam to fit the smaller hole of the 17mm bobbin. Can this machine adjust to this size of bobbin?
No matter what I do it doesn't work for me. My dealer says the machine is fine but I can't get a nice bobbin. I've come to the conclusion that I'm just going to have to buy prewounds in every color. 😒🙄
I set the tension on my sweet 16 higher for a fine thread, but when you wind the bobbin, your saying set the tension on the winder lower for a fine thread. I'm having trouble winding Bottom line.
Ruth, if you wind a bobbin and the thread has been stretched by having the tension too tight it can the center post to colapse and make the sides of the bobbin warp so they are no longer flat. When this happens the bobbin will not work properly in the bobbin case and so you will need to replace it.
I am trying to teach myself good habits before instilling bad ones. Your videos are my go-to! Thank you!
Excellent explanations and demonstration.

@@rdlimbert A friend told me to put the glide thread backwards through the tension disks. I just tried it and I think it worked ok.

Very informative video. Can this winder work with 950yrd (Aprox 1.5" wide) or smaller 50yrd (Aprox 1.25" wide) size spools?
You can use all sorts of spools/cones.
Sorry I want to put thread from a large cone onto a spool not onto a bobbin.
Thank you. I learned a lot. Does is work with all types of bobbin?
Hello, is there an adaptor for big 6000 Meter comes? As they jump
There is not an adapter. I have used a stand along thread stand next to the bobbin winder for those giant cones.
Will the HQ bobbin winder support an L size bobbin?
Can this machine wind a 17mm bobbin. I have gotten several bobbin winding machines but none seam to fit the smaller hole of the 17mm bobbin. Can this machine adjust to this size of bobbin?
When I try to place the bobbin on the winder the thread breaks every time. How can I prevent this?
Don't hold the thread very tight while it starts winding. That usually helps.
I have trouble with the thread jumping out of the tension disc no matter how slow I go. Any suggestions?
You can try winding the thread an extra turn around the tension disc. Or put it through the tension disc counter clockwise instead of clockwise.

Can this be used for all types of bobbins?
It is set up to use M class bobbins for the longarm.

The bobbin winder comes with the Handi Quilter longarms.

I would like to have a video for the old style bobbin winder.
The tension piece on my bobbin winder broke. Is there a video on how to fix it myself? Anyone else have this problem?
Can i use prewound bobbins in my Simply Sixteen?
Can you use this to wind a tin Lizzie bobbin...size M
This bobbin winder will work for L or M class bobbins.
Can any one say what type of sensor is being used in the winder
It has a small laser sensor.
@@HandiQuilter does it have a name
You mention that the bobbin can sping out? What does that mean?

Pena que sea tan cara.
Thank you so much for this destroy all I really need to learn how to use my bobbin winder properly❣️✂️🧵🪡
