Great video. My theory about Ryo's simple outfit consisting of blue jeans and white t-shirt and sneakers, is a homage to many nineties beat em up Characters like: Cody from Final Fight. Axel from Streets of Rage. Hawk from Riot Zone. Rick from Rushing beat (who like ryo, also wears a brown bomber jacket in part 2 & 3 of the trilogy). And many more...
Ryo wants a strong and fierce woman to teach him new things and take him out of his comfort zone. So I assume Hazuki will be trading in collectable lighters and toy-capsules for bounds and whips come Shenmue 3? I’ve always seen Ryo as a socially awkward type of guy who isn’t completely adjusted with his emotions. So having his dad’s death trigger his revenge mission really highlights his limited understanding outside the world of combat. That and I mean, he partakes in Duck Races… Nerd.
Tentacle Touchy Ryo NEEDS a strong fierce woman, lol. Xiuying would keep Ryo on his toes! XD Yeah, trade in all those old toys and zippo lighters for bondage gear. Sounds like Shenmue 3 is going to take place in a sex dungeon, boiiii!! As for Ryo though, i dunno. I did initially kinda think he was a little socially awkward around girls. In the first game there is one moment where you can talk to this lady hanging around outside a restaurant and she kinda speaks seductively to Ryo, and he stutters a little ....but then by Shenmue 2 Ryo is hanging around all sorts of wild women and he's not slurring his speech at all. I do think the death of his father has taken a top priority space on his mind and maybe that's further reason for him to push Nozomi and every other love interest away ...but Xuiying really interested me since she's not showing him any 'love' and he's not either ...but he clearly feels something, even if it's just curiosity and nothing more. I kinda hope Xiuying makes an appearance again, she was a great character.

Great series with really good production values compared to what you'd expect of a smaller channel. Also, I appreciate the emphasis on colors when talking about the visual design. If I had any nitpick I'd say that most of the series seems to be Sega or Street Fighter related, but it's probably just due to what you're passionate about so it's hard to complain. I'll definitely subscribe.

I think Ryo Hazuki should of been in one of the Virtua Fighter games. I would kill 100 people to play a VF game with Ryo Hazuki in it. I know he would be much more older, but i personally wouldn't mind.

Very good video! I found that theory to be interesting, but I feel that Ryo is simply too mentally absorbed in his revenge to give any of the other females besides Xiuying any attention. I felt that Ryo's big lesson in Shenmue II was to learn patience, which makes sense given the fact that, as far as Ryo is concerned, he is likely a few feet away from finding Lan Di, until he learns where he is actually going. Because of this, Ryo seemed very impatient to me and a bit of a contrast from his normal humble and calm personality.
Honestly SEGA should make a game pack for PS4 so that more people could play the game and get into Shenmue 3. I don't even own a PS4 nor plan to but I feel like people need an easier way to plan the games, while showing support.
Never played Shenmue. I believe they said they'd like to do HD ports of them, but that's up to Sega. It would definitely help get some interest going for the third game if they did.
The4thSnake Yeah, it's all in SEGA's court. People have been asking them for years to port the titles and at one point i'm even convinced i heard they were considering doing it... but then as it always is with SEGA things go dead for a while. But i have faith that they'll consider porting those two games, especially with Shenmue 3 now heading in to development ...it would be in their best interests to port them. Shenmue is a great game but you have to forgive it for being an old title so the controls and layout can be a bit clunky. It's not like 'open-world' games are today. It was the game that literally revolutionized the open-world genre, i'm pretty sure it was the first of its kind too. The term 'open world' didn't even exist when Shenmue 1 came out, they were calling this genre 'FREE' back then. If you ever have the chance if/when they port this then get it. Even if you don't dig the way it plays you'll own a title that technically birthed a whole new gaming genre, lol. It's got this crazy ambient feeling that not many other games have.
CI really enjoyed the yakuza games! Im playing them on my channel. I dont think its anything like shenmue tho other then the settings. I can't wait for zero. Shenmue 3 tho!!!!!!!!!!

Thank God Shenmue 3 is finally coming after 15+ years. It was obvious that Sega didn't want to have anything to do with the game series since they saw it as commercial failure. Even the misinformation and drama around the Kickstarter's existence was just as bad. Many people would say it was all a test, Sony was backing the project, you've been ripped off and how the PayPal backers weren't getting their rewards. Keep in mind that many of these poorly researched claims came from various online sources such as IGN, Kotaku, Polygon, etc and they were all proven false thanks to dedicated fans of Shenmue such as AdamKoralik and YSNet themselves. There is one thing I don't understand. Funimation created a Kickstarter for the English dubbing of the anime Escaflowne when they have all of the money to produce it themselves. Nobody says anything when it came to campaigns like that existing but going after Shenmue 3 is okay? Bullshit. In my honest opinion, Funimation shouldn't have created that Kickstarter and just used the thousands of dollars they had to make the dub themselves. (Although overzealous fanboys are quick to defend the Escaflowne Kickstarter.) Funimation is an big Anime entertainment and licensing company that's been around since 1994 and YSNet is an indie company that's been around since 2008. That's the difference between the two. Even so, I'm glad to know that Yu Suzuki and YSNet are able to make the third game in the series despite the controversy surrounding them. Here's to hoping that the third game surpasses the first two. It'll be worth the year long wait.
Shenmue is more like a cult classic rather than an extremely well known and top selling game like Final Fantasy. Shenmue was an amazing game but it was slept on by a lot of people. There are lots of games like that.

SEGA really need to cash in on this already. It's a win-win scenario, they can't possibly lose anything by porting them and the fans will be brought back up to speed in time for Shenmue 3 to come out.
DiGi Valentine They're only really expensive for a new copy, with the price range being about $200-$300 for both of them on Amazon. Getting them used is usually around $30-$60 each. Hell, I got my copy of Shenmue from a local dealer for around $30, and that was getting getting close to a year ago.
Ryokotsei Bloody hell, that's craaazy! Honestly, it never occurred to me to search just how much they were going for these days. Impressive. It's certainly a sought after game. SEGA really should be cashing in on this now, the fools.
DiGi Valentine Apparently it was presented to SEGA along Jet Set Radio HD and Sonic CD remake and they turned it away. They might be regretting it now. Hopefully they reconsider.
They turned it away because there was no clear indicator to how well it would sell as a port. Both Shenmue games are pretty big games to port over, it's not like NiGHTS which was a smaller title and required less budget and work. Shenmue 1 + 2 would require a substantial amount of money to port over and SEGA want to make sure they see a return on their money. So far, the only thing they've had to go on were people going "WHERE'S SHENMUE 3?" in all their comments sections. Well, now SEGA can hopefully see the response Shenmue 3 got and will see it as worthy investment for porting the first two games. It seems like a logical step, it would be foolish of them to not port them by this point.

I really like how you describe the characters, even if their role is a minor one. I also like the artwork that your artist draws for the thumbnails. Question: Have you ever played a "Sly Cooper" game? If you have, would you like to do a episode on one of the characters? This is probably out of nowhere question, but I just wanted to ask. As for Sly Cooper, i'll admit i never played any of the games in that series BUT i always really liked the look of the main character. He's got a great design. I would definitely be interested in doing an episode on him at some point in the future. Right now, i need my channel and the show to grow first, but once i've found that comfortable spot and i know my viewers are sticking around then i'll look in to reviewing someone like Sly Cooper. I have a friend who quite likes that game series too, perhaps he could help bring me up to speed.

I think Ryo Hazuki should of been in one of the Virtua Fighter games. I would kill 100 people to play a VF game with Ryo Hazuki in it. I know he would be much more older, but i personally wouldn't mind.

Very good video! I found that theory to be interesting, but I feel that Ryo is simply too mentally absorbed in his revenge to give any of the other females besides Xiuying any attention. I felt that Ryo's big lesson in Shenmue II was to learn patience, which makes sense given the fact that, as far as Ryo is concerned, he is likely a few feet away from finding Lan Di, until he learns where he is actually going. Because of this, Ryo seemed very impatient to me and a bit of a contrast from his normal humble and calm personality.
I hope in Shenmue 3, Ryo has to make a phone call and the player get to decide which female character that they want to hook up with Ryo
Honestly SEGA should make a game pack for PS4 so that more people could play the game and get into Shenmue 3. I don't even own a PS4 nor plan to but I feel like people need an easier way to plan the games, while showing support.

Never played Shenmue. I believe they said they'd like to do HD ports of them, but that's up to Sega. It would definitely help get some interest going for the third game if they did.
The4thSnake Yeah, it's all in SEGA's court. People have been asking them for years to port the titles and at one point i'm even convinced i heard they were considering doing it... but then as it always is with SEGA things go dead for a while. But i have faith that they'll consider porting those two games, especially with Shenmue 3 now heading in to development ...it would be in their best interests to port them.
Shenmue is a great game but you have to forgive it for being an old title so the controls and layout can be a bit clunky. It's not like 'open-world' games are today. It was the game that literally revolutionized the open-world genre, i'm pretty sure it was the first of its kind too. The term 'open world' didn't even exist when Shenmue 1 came out, they were calling this genre 'FREE' back then.
If you ever have the chance if/when they port this then get it. Even if you don't dig the way it plays you'll own a title that technically birthed a whole new gaming genre, lol. It's got this crazy ambient feeling that not many other games have.

Thank God Shenmue 3 is finally coming after 15+ years. It was obvious that Sega didn't want to have anything to do with the game series since they saw it as commercial failure. Even the misinformation and drama around the Kickstarter's existence was just as bad. Many people would say it was all a test, Sony was backing the project, you've been ripped off and how the PayPal backers weren't getting their rewards. Keep in mind that many of these poorly researched claims came from various online sources such as IGN, Kotaku, Polygon, etc and they were all proven false thanks to dedicated fans of Shenmue such as AdamKoralik and YSNet themselves.
There is one thing I don't understand. Funimation created a Kickstarter for the English dubbing of the anime Escaflowne when they have all of the money to produce it themselves. Nobody says anything when it came to campaigns like that existing but going after Shenmue 3 is okay? Bullshit. In my honest opinion, Funimation shouldn't have created that Kickstarter and just used the thousands of dollars they had to make the dub themselves.
(Although overzealous fanboys are quick to defend the Escaflowne Kickstarter.)
Funimation is an big Anime entertainment and licensing company that's been around since 1994 and YSNet is an indie company that's been around since 2008. That's the difference between the two.
Even so, I'm glad to know that Yu Suzuki and YSNet are able to make the third game in the series despite the controversy surrounding them. Here's to hoping that the third game surpasses the first two. It'll be worth the year long wait.

Shenmue is more like a cult classic rather than an extremely well known and top selling game like Final Fantasy. Shenmue was an amazing game but it was slept on by a lot of people. There are lots of games like that.

DiGi Valentine They're only really expensive for a new copy, with the price range being about $200-$300 for both of them on Amazon. Getting them used is usually around $30-$60 each. Hell, I got my copy of Shenmue from a local dealer for around $30, and that was getting getting close to a year ago.
Ryokotsei Bloody hell, that's craaazy! Honestly, it never occurred to me to search just how much they were going for these days. Impressive. It's certainly a sought after game. SEGA really should be cashing in on this now, the fools.

They turned it away because there was no clear indicator to how well it would sell as a port. Both Shenmue games are pretty big games to port over, it's not like NiGHTS which was a smaller title and required less budget and work. Shenmue 1 + 2 would require a substantial amount of money to port over and SEGA want to make sure they see a return on their money. So far, the only thing they've had to go on were people going "WHERE'S SHENMUE 3?" in all their comments sections. Well, now SEGA can hopefully see the response Shenmue 3 got and will see it as worthy investment for porting the first two games. It seems like a logical step, it would be foolish of them to not port them by this point.
