For my casual games (which, lets face it, are practically all), we third the terrain, and place one third using scatter dice+d3(d6), each consequetive peice is placed from the previous peice using scatter+d3(d6). The facing of the terrain is, again, determined by scatter dice, with the dominant face of the terrain facing the direction of the arrow. The remaining 2/3 is split between players who then place it themselves in their own halves as you described. It removes some of the cheese in placing terrain and keeps the table feeling natural.
That's pretty and and nice to do this for casual games too 👍😁 when I play at home with my son I end up just making the board look pretty more than anything haha
Holy heck this was a great video! Do you know how many 40k content creators I follow that NEVER once bring this aspect of the game up? Player placed terrain is a key element, its such a game changer once you understand how terrain is supposed to be used/played with. Great video, I'd love to see you tackle longer, larger videos. Though I know that's not the point of your content, its to showcase that we don't need hour long videos to tell us how things work, but with you and your content, I'd love to see more.
I thonk its because its only new or sexy when major rules changes happen. The syatems that host content favor content that is fresh in its relevance. But god damn the lack of current chatter on such a critical element is maddening
Haha thanks 😊 yer I always get drop off at the end of the video when I appear to say something and say bye so thought I'd see what's happens if it just ends 😁
Always used terrain to gain a advantage works really well with Whirlwinds and +1 to hit on troops is always welcome plus objectives can be help well with a small cost squad if you position it well
and here im goinng. Place terrain that looks Artitectially sound. no L shaped wall that goes nowhere and so on. wish there was ruin floor that you could tile lay out to show the total size of the building.
well fist thing good looking stuff and yes that why you make the terrain molaer or not caned to board if do boards that all the stuff in caned to it me i just get board with same set up ALLLLLLL the time yes like mapes on dawn of war you get know all and whare the stuff is on em and if do terrain you got add new bits to it evry ones in whiel to you put same uff down just so manny whay and get boring to you have go nuts your playing board is not a film set as lot vid show it almost hek back in day if had nune i go out sied and get bits concret and rocks and twigs and set up as terrain and dun just throw out thare alwhay that stuf round gaming stores if the wist thing pacing fome or card board is all over
What I like doing it create a narrative in the board setup where one side has a clear advantage like storming the walls, but thats all part of the fun of the game 😁

Using terrain well, even separate from ppt is so key and one of the big differentiators for top tables 👍😁
Great video and very informative
Thanks dude 😁
and here im goinng.
Place terrain that looks Artitectially sound.

wish there was ruin floor that you could tile lay out to show the total size of the building.
I think there are products like that tbh, there are tonnes or really innovative terrain producers if you search around 😊
Very helpful!!!
Thanks very much 😊😁
