On one hand I love that they have the Chef, on the other hand, a part of me hates that this movie is at all related to monster hunter world rather than being a complete spinoff

He is the Admiral's palico, i just booted up the game and spoke to him, coincidentially he told me how his old pardtner went to a place full of energy, and thats where the Admiral is at currently.
If they had, honestly, left the Monster Hunter brand off this movie I really feel it would have been better recieved. Calling it Monster Hunter just drove the hype for it a little too high and that is why, IMO, it did as poorly as it did.

The 1st half was the worst movie I've seen in a long time. They relied too much on a video game and not enough on good writing. The 2nd half brought in more characters and some story, but not enough to save it IMO.
A one-eye, jacked cat man, who cooks a mean steak, and is good with a sword, Milla Jovovich, with Tony Jaa and Ron Pearlman's in there too, why didn't they just use this 1:12 for the teaser trailer I would have given this a watch since I can tell it's going to be a right laugh from start to finish.

Why is his voice so high? The Meowscular Chef’s supposed to be a deep baritone. It’s not like this is would have been remotely difficult to pull off. And for that matter why’s he so poorly groomed? He’s a chef, he should take that more seriously-the Grandmeowster would have his hide.
I prefer the cats voice as is. A deeper more growly vocalization would not be endearing or even funny. This way is. As to his scruffy appearance, the crew of the sand ship are not unlike pirates, I wouldn’t expect a dapper chef cat to be among them. Again, they made the right choice in Palicos appearance. I work in a theater, and patrons seem to really like him.

Look it up, it was a big failure and an embarrassment. The point being, the source isn’t always the best example to follow too closely. Not only did Stanley Kubrick not respect the source (authors version), he openly mocked it in allegory in the film. Kubrick knew his medium, (film)King did not. I believe the same applies here.
