I liked LTD for metal sound (it is brighter than ESP in my opinion). Ibanez has more melodic tone, perhaps could be better for solo parts or rock music.
Lol, yeah, breaking the rules there (beer on the amp) - it was more for show. I love those stock Ibanez pickups...very distinct sound. I have another video specifically on those pickups here: ruclips.net/video/DRBU7IJWTqM/видео.html
Ranked personally, 3. Ltd deluxe, 2. Ibanez prestige, 1. ESP 7 E2. I mean EMGs sound just that, EMGs sound like EMGs as opposed to passive actually works with the character of the wood and amount of wood in a guitar, to me at least.
EMG pickups pretty much sound same in every guitar I've owned. lol. Hard to compare active vs passives sometimes. I personally liked the Ibanez here. More clarity
EMGs have their place but with this particular tone/EQ you have dialed they sound shrill and fizzy compared to the Ibanez passives. If it wasn’t for the low B chug of the 7 string it would suffer the same fate as the LTD. Good to have both tools in your arsenal!
Ibanez guitars always sound thin regardless of price range ~ built for ease of play & not so much their tone. ESP found that sweet spot of tone & function.
I actually feel the opposite about my RG1570. The V7 and V8 pickups, though they're stock, give more bottom end than my ESPs with EMG pickups. But I think a lot of our tone really comes through the way we play, and we find the right guitars that compliment our style.
I agree entirely with your comment about Ibanez guitars sound thin regardless of price range. I thought I was the only one in the whole world who thought that! And yes ESP /LTD have always had a good balance between shred playability comfort and decent tone....at any ESP /LTD price range.
I’ve had a six string horizon, by far the best playing guitar i have ever owned...sold it to get a seven string, wich is now my favorite guitar both in sound and playability... would have loved to get the purple EII M2 7 string but that guitar is simply to pricey...........i love a guitar with a fixed bridge so i can experiment with alternate tunings much easier. As much as i love standerd tuning, i also love drop tunings and tune all strings a half step up.........just so many options....nice video
I wish I had that strumming hand that you have. It's amazing. You have shreding in your blood. You have a great attack but so smooth . Nice. That gives me something to work at. Oh I like the Esp .
Yeah, after playing guitar for over 30 years, I just picked up the 7 about a year and a half ago. Took a while to get used to it, and still working on our relationship (me and the 7)
@@jasonstallworth I had the opposite . After playing for 15 years I picked up the 7 and it made everything easier for me for some reason . Maybe the jumbo frets are really what did it. The only guitar I ever really played for years was a Fender tele
@@kultbotcustomshop3849 I think the thicker necks that ESP guitars have, then adding more with the 7 string neck is what threw me off a little. I really need to play an Ibanez 7 because I like those Wizard necks
@@jasonstallworth I just bought an Ibanez prestige 2027 XL and it’s actually easier to play than my six.. The neck is super flat super playable worth every penny.
That's absolutely the most important! I go back and forth between my LTD and RG. The RG Wizard neck actually fits my hands better but this particular model doesn't have the 'fast' neck like my LTD. If I could merge the 2, it'd be the perfect guitar!
If I let the 7'th String out, I would say the Ibanez has a tiny little bit better quality, especialy at the high notes, it hit the notes better that the other two. But, do you have also the same strings on all 3 guitars? Cause as I buyed my "Elexire" strings, the sound quality changed to a whole new warm badass level. I usually use no other strings now than them from "Elexire", try them out for your self, they are a bit expensive, but totaly worthy. The pickups also make great differences and a high quality cable also. So my tipp: If you don't have it, primary invest some bucks in "Elexire" strings and a very good cable, this cost not the world, but it's totaly worthy. The pickups are the secondary choice and depends on your guitar.
Nice axes, man. I have the LTD M-1000 Deluxe too and it's a BEAST of a guitar, mine is the first batch (2003 solid black finish). It's the only guitar I have that I will never sell.
Jason, do you own any higher end Jacksons? I’ve got the LTD Arrow 1000 Andromeda, LTD Viper Vamp graphic limited edition and a Jackson Corey B sig. Both brands are awesome. My PRS Se Allender (bat inlays) also sounds great. What’s your absolute preferred?
That 7 string esp is such a beast!!! But sound wise I really liked the horizon! I love that you have emgs. Such an awesome pickup for metal. Nice tone..subscribed !!! What's your tuning on the 7 string ?
I prefer the tone of the Ibanez. Sounds clearer. Maybe its because of passive pickups, or maybe its a sign of Prestige quality, or both. If you had passives in the LTD, it might be a closer comparison.
They both sound good for different reasons, but I think it would sound awesome to have the best of both somehow. I hate the tinny Ibanez sound, but love the punch of its low end. The ESP sounds much better from mid to high range, but lacks the intensity that I enjoy. I use an Ibanez right now, but only because it was on sale.
ESP was my favorite I love that bassy tone. Makes sense theyre double the price of the others but still interesting. I'm in the market for I think so far one of these three but i really need to hit a guitar center for myself
I have a question. I got a used LTD at a local guitar store and I love it. It looks absolutely 100% identical to the LTD in this video, the only difference is it doesn’t say deluxe. But the pickups, the colors, the machine heads, fret board, all look identical. It says M-200FM on the 12th fret though, but when I type it in and look for it, what I see looks quite a bit different every time. Could it be a hybrid or something? Special order? Or just really rare?
All three are awesome, but seem to be missing something. Maybe a fourth or fifth additional guitar added to the mix so we don't miss that specific tonal difference!! 🤘
I just starting to get familiar with everything to feel comfortable with what I am after. I referb firearms, so same skill set, and I get to fire off the guitars more often. Wife is still mildly irritated by cost, but that doesn't change much!! Lol!!
ibanez has more mids and sounds more open the ltd has more scooped sound to it and the 7 has more low end cause its a seven but also part of the reason on the ibanez it has passive pickups
My 07 LTD ec-1000 deluxe has never had one issue since I’ve bought it. Hold a setup like a dream. The Ltd in the video has a good midrange and sounds the smoothest overall. How’s the neck compare on the Ltd to the ibanez? Is it a little faster than the standard thin U shape?
drkslider1182 The weird thing for me is I love the fast neck on the LTD but I prefer the thinner width and slightly wider fretboard one my RG. If only I could combine those 2!!
Why am I surprised by the tones coming from the Horizon!! Actually all of em!! Jason you really Wail bro' I think it's Ibanez no1. Horizon NO2. LTD no3 obviously... Your rig sounds great...
Ibanez has more clarity and the m-ii comes across as superior also, but we can't get the feeling that the player gets when handling the guitars. In terms of tone the difference isn't huge. The LTD is also quite expensive and very popular.
They ALL sounded good! 3 different tones across all 3 that was really good. The 7 string ESP sounded best to me. I have the 6 string variant of the same guitar. It is the easiest guitar to play I have ever had. That 1570 sounded really good. The LTD is a great value.
Jason, your Ibanez is quite the tonal beast!! Of course so is your ESP, HORIZON 7, the LTD sounded like it was running a high end rewards kind of kit, tone wise that is... But brother, I am truly an amateur, purely going by ear... What pick-ups grace the Ibanez bro?
ESP and LTD have good guitars, but I prefer the older Ibanez guitars that have EMG pickups with them. Ibanez has some of the most comfortable flatter back necks around for my hands.

I liked LTD for metal sound (it is brighter than ESP in my opinion). Ibanez has more melodic tone, perhaps could be better for solo parts or rock music.
Yeah, that Ibanez, and more specifically the stock pickups, are better for rock than metal
Sorry the last one didn’t come out spellcheck messed it up but I like the limited
Great playing! Beer on you're amp is driving me crazy! If that's the stock v8 in the ibby it sounds way better than i could get mine to sound.
🤘
EMG pickups pretty much sound same in every guitar I've owned. lol. Hard to compare active vs passives sometimes. I personally liked the Ibanez here. More clarity
Yeah that Ibanez is great for that!
EMGs have their place but with this particular tone/EQ you have dialed they sound shrill and fizzy compared to the Ibanez passives. If it wasn’t for the low B chug of the 7 string it would suffer the same fate as the LTD. Good to have both tools in your arsenal!
The Ibanez definitely has a punch to it!
I have this with newer Ibanez models. Their older stuff from the 80's-2000's weren't that thin sounding as most todays models.
@@dannychane I believe the one I have in the video is 2001, but it has a nice, deep bottom end tone
Yeah dude, those ESP Horizons are just awesome guitars!
I wish I had that strumming hand that you have. It's amazing. You have shreding in your blood. You have a great attack but so smooth . Nice. That gives me something to work at. Oh I like the Esp .
Thank you dude...I've always had a lighter touch with my playing; just feels more natural for me and makes playing more effortless.
I can tell your very comfortable with the Ltd when you get there with the 7 it will be heaven for sure!
I play the same kind of music but iam in a delema, should I go with a esp f-50 or a mh-17??
Dude I really have no clue. You really just have to play different guitars and see what works best for you
Its definitely a race for me between the LTD and the Ibanez with the ESP noticibly trailing behind in my opinion
🤘
I think the 1000 deluxe sounds the best
🤘
Ltd sounded a little bit better but not much. What’s most important is how the guitar feels in my hands, the rg fits like a glove to me.
Yep, Elixirs on all 3. The 7 string doesn't really fit the comparison but I'm really just comparing the guitars I have in my studio!
Nice axes, man. I have the LTD M-1000 Deluxe too and it's a BEAST of a guitar, mine is the first batch (2003 solid black finish). It's the only guitar I have that I will never sell.
Yeah dude that LTD M-1000 is indeed a beast!
@@jasonstallworth I just bought a Solar Guitar A1.6FB model, you should check this brand too. They are not so expensive but deliver a lot. :D
@@x0n666 I've heard good things about Solar. But I won't be buying any guitars for a while!
I haven't had a Jackson in many years, but I used to have a P4 Performer. Wish I had kept that!
Man that ltd is beautiful. I wish i have the money.
You can find those LTDs used for a decent price...just look around at local stores or online
Ibanez is louder, with more midrange, but I'm liking the LTD the best.
The LTD is super tight!
IDK man i have a thing for seven strings.. especially that E-ll sounds great.
🤘
Good guitarist and great amp, between the guitars it's six of one, half a dozen of the other. They are all pretty level with each other.
🙏🤘
That 7 string esp is such a beast!!! But sound wise I really liked the horizon! I love that you have emgs. Such an awesome pickup for metal. Nice tone..subscribed !!!
What's your tuning on the 7 string ?
Yeah the 7 is quite a beast! I'm always in standard tuning
I prefer the tone of the Ibanez. Sounds clearer. Maybe its because of passive pickups, or maybe its a sign of Prestige quality, or both. If you had passives in the LTD, it might be a closer comparison.
Yeah I do like the sound from some passive pickups
They both sound good for different reasons, but I think it would sound awesome to have the best of both somehow. I hate the tinny Ibanez sound, but love the punch of its low end. The ESP sounds much better from mid to high range, but lacks the intensity that I enjoy. I use an Ibanez right now, but only because it was on sale.
🤘
But the ESP got as only one 7 strings, that's a sneaky badass boost. 😋
Yes it is!!
ESP was my favorite I love that bassy tone. Makes sense theyre double the price of the others but still interesting. I'm in the market for I think so far one of these three but i really need to hit a guitar center for myself
🤘
I have a question. I got a used LTD at a local guitar store and I love it. It looks absolutely 100% identical to the LTD in this video, the only difference is it doesn’t say deluxe. But the pickups, the colors, the machine heads, fret board, all look identical. It says M-200FM on the 12th fret though, but when I type it in and look for it, what I see looks quite a bit different every time. Could it be a hybrid or something? Special order? Or just really rare?
I believe the exact version I have is not made anymore but there is a newer, white version very similar.
I like the Ibanez sound, what’s the pickups?
These are the stock pickups (and here's why I kept them in): ruclips.net/video/DRBU7IJWTqM/видео.html
All three are awesome, but seem to be missing something. Maybe a fourth or fifth additional guitar added to the mix so we don't miss that specific tonal difference!! 🤘
I'd love to throw more in...but...these are the only 3 electrics I own right now lol!
I just starting to get familiar with everything to feel comfortable with what I am after. I referb firearms, so same skill set, and I get to fire off the guitars more often. Wife is still mildly irritated by cost, but that doesn't change much!! Lol!!
The Ibanez seems to have more clarity
I’m with you on that! And it could be the difference of passive vs active pickups.
ibanez has more mids and sounds more open the ltd has more scooped sound to it and the 7 has more low end cause its a seven but also part of the reason on the ibanez it has passive pickups
Yeah those pickups (stock Ibanez) have a very distinct tone
🤘
Yeah brotha!!! Can’t go wrong with either Guitar’s. Cheers🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺😎🎸🎸🎸
Yes, it would be hard to part with any of these!! Cheers dude!
Never been a fan of Ibanez, but the ESP is nice
It's a tough choice for me and I won't part with any of them...they have give their own distinct qualities
I'm kinda the same, theres just something i cant pinpoint about ibanez that I dont like
Ibanez has more clarity and the m-ii comes across as superior also, but we can't get the feeling that the player gets when handling the guitars. In terms of tone the difference isn't huge. The LTD is also quite expensive and very popular.
Yeah those stock Ibanez pickups do have a lot of clarity
They ALL sounded good! 3 different tones across all 3 that was really good. The 7 string ESP sounded best to me. I have the 6 string variant of the same guitar. It is the easiest guitar to play I have ever had. That 1570 sounded really good. The LTD is a great value.
Yeah those LTD guitars are probably the best value in the price range!
🤘
Ltd! But it’s Hard not to be biased since I have a Ltd m-1000 that I bought in 2010.
Dude they’re just solid metal guitars!
LTD. Bright and smooth. The others are too bassy for me 😏 looks best too.... however, I'm officially done with reverse headstocks 😄
🤘
ESP and LTD have good guitars, but I prefer the older Ibanez guitars that have EMG pickups with them. Ibanez has some of the most comfortable flatter back necks around for my hands.
Yeah that’s why Ibanez is my preference. The RG necks fit my hands better
Mr Jason, do you think that the esp Ltd arrow 1000 is a good guitar for shredding? Is it better than the Ibanez?
Dude it's really personal preference at the end of the day. Ive got reviews on both:
LTD M1000 Deluxe: ruclips.net/video/6puPdGfYGC8/видео.html
Ibanez RG1570: ruclips.net/video/kAovRh9z4yY/видео.html
IMHO that LTD is good enough for metal. But for djent stuff you'll need the E-II for the obvious reason.
Yeah the LTD has a really tight sound
I love ESP sound more then the others. He’s so unique.
Yeah that 7 string has a unique sound!
@@jasonstallworth ye, I’m buying a new electric guitar now
How about ESP Edward MIJ ?
Never played that one but would like to!
I can tell you were in a groove on this night, always so fun, it why we play. I think its apples to oranges comparing the 7. The LTD wins
🤘
what's your all time fav guitar?
I’m getting ready for a custom Dean so that will be featured soon. But this is what I play the majority are of the time: ruclips.net/video/kAovRh9z4yY/видео.htmlsi=-95GdXmK4axobXv3
Gr8 video & I love your Ibanez ... it sounds like it wants to rip someones head off 🤘
It's my favorite guitar and gets played the most!
@@jasonstallworth its got a gr8 distinctive crunch which i love... was wondering what type of pic u like and what thickness? Just wondering cuz im trying to pic like u because I like your style. Are u giving lessons by the way? Ive been playing for 40 years and im starting to suck
I'm as non bias as you get. I know nothing about the guitars #1 tye with the ESP & the IBANEZ. ESP seem to mix well for metal but lost out in different segments of the complete music. The IBANEZ's sound was smooth throughout all change ups. I guess it's #1, IBANEZ, #2, ESP & #3, LTD.
Yeah, that Ibanez has a unique punch to it. In fact, I changed the pickups after making this video but quickly had tose stock pickup put back in. I was missing them. I had a video on that here: ruclips.net/video/DRBU7IJWTqM/видео.html
Plz sir help I'm confused among ESP LTD MT 130,Fender Square Bullet Strat,Ibanez Gio Grx40 and Cort X100.
Plz suggest me overall good guitar.... I'm a Beginner......i want to play clean ,rock, metal, soulful .
Grab the ESP LTD!
@@jasonstallworth thank you sir 🙏
Schecter hellraiser or Ibanez prestige?
I haven't played many Schecter guitars but have always heard great things about them
Beer, guitars and sust 250….all a man could ever want
😅 🤘 🍺 💪
Any chance of seeing an 8 string in the future?
Dude, probably not. I struggled with the idea of getting a 7 string for a long time. I don't really care about playing lower notes, which is why I don't downtune. I respect 8 string players and all, but it's just not my style
@@jasonstallworth I had one years ago but within a few months of having it someone stole it. Picked one up again a couple years later. It's a great guitar for warming up that's for sure. Going from 8 to 7 or a 6 makes those ones feel like toys.
@@deathmetal0914 I do notice that my 6 strings are way easier to play after playing my 7!
Me (a total n00b interested in guitars) clicks this video and thinks _"they all sound the same."_ Real guitar aficionados would likely disagree.
Very cool guitars though!! This guy can shred. Stay metal bro! \m/
It's cool that you've picked up guitar! Yeah, the differences are subtle and also depending on your sound source you're hearing this on.
Hey what’s up guys, didn’t see my self filming myself for you guys to see ,that was lucky
😅 🤘
That Ibanez sounds awesome it has such a nice attack to it🤘
Man, I love that Ibanez!!
I am listening to this thru my studio monitors and the LTD would be my choice.
Yeah the LTD is a beast!
The 7 string ripped it , sounded way more chunky than the other 2 ones \m/
The 7 does have that chunk!
@@jasonstallworth it bet it is the pickup of the 7 , gives more low end punch cause its made for it , 6 string pups more mid range than low end . I´m getting my 7 string today , totally exited \m/
