I got a 5 channel Carver 100 watt per channel amp with multichannel Pre Amp 17v I think it should be able to push my 4 ohm S150's. How much power does the monolith draw? my 7 channel B&K can use 1350 watts.
Price for this amp here in Canada is just north of 2K. I'm on the fence with purchasing this amp for my 7.1.2. Marantz MM7055 seems overpriced and inaccurately advertised. Besides buying a used amp (which I'm hesitant to do), the Monolith or the Tonewinner would be something to consider for reasonably priced.

This should be more than enough for any listening I'll ever do! I found that movies, or live music DVD's are SO much more immersive when you have full-range speakers for all the channels instead of having large or larger speakers only for the front and smaller channels for the surrounds. Having a full range speaker for the center channel REALLY brings out the dialog. Any vocals with, say, Morgan Freeman, or the voice of Venom in the Marvel movies REALLY puts you back in your seat. This should make all that just that much more amazing. Can't wait! I'm just wondering if I'm going to have an electrician come in and run a dedicated 20amp socket for the Monolith. Good to hear I’m not alone! I do love me some Rotel and Parasound but this Monolith has been a rock-solid performer since day one. I almost bought an Anthem amp to replace it but at nearly 3 x the cost, I kept my money.
Since you tried so many different brands of amps, what do you think of Rotel versus Anthem versus outlaw versus Monoprice/emotiva? How does one decide? I have Marantz sr8015 powering 5.2.4 system with Paradigm speakers. LCR is paradigm prestige 85f and 55c center. Surround is paradigm ci pro 65iw (inwall). Was thinking of just powering LCR or all 5 base layer. Any advice would be appreciated. Only wanted to add amp if will have clearly noticeable improvement in sound quality. Those are awesome speakers! I’m not saying that there’s not a difference between the different amplifier brands, as I’d probably get beat on here if I did, but in my experience, the different brands of amplifiers is smaller than most say. I’d love to try McIntosh but I’m too broke for those beautiful amps:) With all of that said, I’m VERY happy with my Emotiva and Monolith amplifiers. For the money, they are extremely hard to beat. Been pleading with my dealer to get me the Monolith 7x, but they say there’s no stock here in South Africa🇿🇦😒 I then asked them to get me the Emotiva XPA-3 Gen.3 then, again nothing in the country! Was told that the company that imports them from overseas has closed shop! Hopefully someone takes over and start bringing the stuff in.🤞
If you think all amps sound similar and as you said, "same sound signature", try using a different preamplifier with your gear. Try a tube preamp with ss amp or vice versa. 🤔
There’s just so many variables, it’s just hard to accurately explain sound:/ I’ve always wanted to jump into the tube amp world but I’ve always been a little gun-shy. Thank you very much for the recommendation!
Thanks! I’ve been slacking due to various things going on in the background but I’ve got a few new videos lined up. Thanks for sticking around, my friend!
I was hoping for a bit higher quality terminals but they are good and sturdy and will last just fine with normal usage. Im a bit of a gear head and prefer Emotiva terminals but this Monolith is a very well built amp. This amp would have zero issues driving 8 and 6 ohm speakers simultaneously. No need to worry there:)
No issues with different ohms. The binding posts are not the prettiest but the amp is way better than the emotiva and the customer support is top notch
Well I'm disappointed that you never even showed us it working and how it sounds and running, that kind of thing, like that you just did nothing but a whole bunch of talkin 🤷♂️
@Average Guy Hi-Fi you mentioned that you had experience with outlaw amps, as well as, Monolith and I can use some guidance. I'm looking into buying the Monolith 7x or the Outlaw 7000x amp. This is my first amp so I don't have a lot of experience with these brand's, plus there a $1000 difference between them. Would you be able to recommend one over the other? There's 70 watt difference between them per channel. I budget friendly 7.2.4 home theatre system, the amp would be running my 7 channel bed layer (hope I'm using the term correctly). I have a Denon 4700 receiver, all my main listening area is made up by the Jamo Concert series 9 ii, towers, bookshelf and center channel. They're 89db, 6 Ohms, not sure they're exact wattage is. Hope to hear the advice from you and/or the community. Thank you all, be safe.
That $1,000 is a pretty hefty premium to most of us. Your speakers are pretty efficient so I’d probably go with the Outlaw. And put that savings towards a subwoofer upgrade, depending on what sub/subs you’re currently running. What subs are you using and how large is your room?
@@blazermdx Thank you for your time and advice, trust me I know $1000 is a lot for most of us and I couldn't make myself spent it on one amp, that's why I needed guidance. Most videos I've seen recommend buying the best you can afford and if there were no other choice then I would have bought the Monolith. My system is in the living room, I don't have a dedicated home theatre room, it's 18x15 but it's not completely closed in, it opens up to the kitchen and hallway (townhouse). My 2 subs are Klipsch R-12 SW, I bought them at Costco. Any recommendations on a upgrade for the Subs? Even if I have to start with one. Thank you for the advice, highly appreciated you, be safe, take care.
The Monolith amps are assembled by ATI in California but they are assembled with parts from China that Monoprice supplies to ATI to use for assembly. It’s probably appropriate to say that ATI assembles the Monolith amps and not builds the Monolith amps because the last time I checked, ATI was only contracted to assemble the amplifier. I don’t believe ATI makes any components in the Monolith amplifiers, which is probably the main reason why you see a massive price difference between comparable Monolith amps vs ATI amps.
@OD 40K I am going to bet ATI uses parts from China to assemble their own amps as well I would love to see the origin of the parts from both varieties they are assembling and see what difference there really is
@@turnne if you’ve ever seen videos showing how ATI builds their amps, you’ll see they make their own components as much as they are able to, including building their own transformers, much like McIntosh does. Not saying there’s not a component that is sourced from China in ATI equipment, but there is a difference between the internal components between ATI amps and Monollith amps if you look hard enough.
@@od40k77 Ok..so they could be different parts .But I going to bet heavy heavy Chinese made parts for both ATI and Monolith brands. Mcintosh, in my opinion, is on another level than ATI or Monolith Whether its worth it not not probably depends on the buyer as the testing is not nearly wide enough to warrant the difference in pricing
@@turnne ATI and Monolith amps are just different levels of quality. ATI makes their own transformers, at least for their class AB amps. That right there should tell you all you need to know about what ATI is willing and unwilling to source from China.
@@od40k77 That is your opinion. Are you saying that the amount of parts an amp manufacturer sources from China is your litmus test of quality? By the way..I am not saying ATI is not a better amp. But clearly the test results dont show the difference you mention

@@ChannelBri yes he sounds good at .75x. great video @averageguyHifi I just got the Emotiva Bas-x for the front stage. That alone made a big difference. 80% of the sound from LCR.
I’m with you! Having owned quite a few mid-grade amplifiers over the years, I was honestly expecting a bit more. But this is no doubt a great value, when it comes to amplifiers, so I’m sure the number crunchers needed to save wherever possible. Small complaint but a complaint, none the less. Thanks for stopping by again Cole!
@Average Guy Hi-Fi As a number cruncher myself they could offer upgraded binding posts at a stupid markup and then guys like me get what we want they can super rip off my craziness lol
@Gabriel Tech Reviews I am 100% in agreement that they do not effect performance but it doesn't change for the price of equipment I like nice quality feel
Absolutely. Zero impact on sound, just being a little nit-picky, so I don’t come off sounding like a fanboy. I’d take these binding posts at a lower price vs more expensive binding posts for more money.

After all the research I’ve done, which mainly consisted of forums and reviews, I read that ATI makes the components for Monoprice and then Monoprice assembles them. Now I also don’t believe that ATI would use the exact same parts, due to the vastly different price-points. Ive read that the Monolith 7 and the ATI AT 4000 are nearly identical on the inside. I tried to point this out in the video but I really appreciate your feedback here as this is the type of comments that I want. I want my videos to be as basic and accurate as possible so I’ll keep digging on this subject. Thanks for stopping by!
@@blazermdx I think you’re video was very on point and pretty accurate. I did a lot of research awhile back when I was looking at buying new amps for my theatre and ATI was the company I targeted for new amps. Then I saw that ATI was making amps for Monoprice and looked into that. That when I found out that the parts inside the Monolith is basically the main difference. ATI makes so much of their own components, like the transformers and the output stages. I’m sure there are more things they make themselves. I think ATI overbuilds their equipment, which is debatable on what that is worth. No doubt ATI makes really nice stuff, but it comes with a pretty heavy price, which you mentioned pretty clearly in your video. Monoprice definitely delivers better performance per dollar.

Hopefully someone takes over and start bringing the stuff in.🤞
Good luck with your hunt, my friend!
People are having all kinds of issues getting products these days:/
If you think all amps sound similar and as you said, "same sound signature", try using a different preamplifier with your gear. Try a tube preamp with ss amp or vice versa. 🤔
There’s just so many variables, it’s just hard to accurately explain sound:/
I’ve always wanted to jump into the tube amp world but I’ve always been a little gun-shy.
Thank you very much for the recommendation!
Glad you're back!!!
Thanks! I’ve been slacking due to various things going on in the background but I’ve got a few new videos lined up.
Thanks for sticking around, my friend!
Are the speaker terminals good sturdy quality? & can I used both 6 & 8 ohms speakers simultaneously
How do u bridge it ?
Buy yourself a "real" sub or two with the savings. SVS, REL, RSL, etc.
78lbs?
Yeah, it’s a heavy beast. Mostly due to the dual toroidal transformers.
Definitely not a lightweight. Hahs
Also no fans so loads of heatsinks, that's the way to go. Mine is ~63 lbs.
Keep it cool!!
I’m trying. Haha!
@OD 40K
I am going to bet ATI uses parts from China to assemble their own amps as well
I would love to see the origin of the parts from both varieties they are assembling and see what difference there really is
@@turnne if you’ve ever seen videos showing how ATI builds their amps, you’ll see they make their own components as much as they are able to, including building their own transformers, much like McIntosh does.
Mcintosh, in my opinion, is on another level than ATI or Monolith
Whether its worth it not not probably depends on the buyer as the testing is not nearly wide enough to warrant the difference in pricing
YOU SHOULD SELL THE ITEMS THAT YOU DON'T USE ANYMORE
I sell everything I buy to review, for what I pay for it. I’m trying to give back to my local audio community.
But I also tend to keep the items I like, which is becoming a problem:)
Eeeeeemotiva, Ro-Tell 😅😒
And is "Refurb" a new Furbie?
But seriously, apart from that, would you watch your own videos and if so, why?
Hmmm. That’s a good question.
Since I’m hoping to keep this channel more geared towards those bargain hunters and beginners out there, I’m not sure that I would at this stage I’m at in this hobby. That might hurt me a little but I’m just being honest.
Id like to improve things when it comes to my technique and editing so I might change my opinion, if I can manage to make these improvements. Haha!
@@blazermdx you seem like a decent person, keep it up.
Just...keep it interesting ;)
Man, you talked too fast.
I wasn’t very happy with my cadence after I watched it but it was too late, at that point.
I’ll try to remember to slow things down a little. Thanks for the feedback!
@@blazermdx It was a bit fast but I could keep up. I actually like that though, doesn’t take as much of my time to get the information provided.
Reduce the playback speed
@@ChannelBri yes he sounds good at .75x. great video @averageguyHifi
I just got the Emotiva Bas-x for the front stage. That alone made a big difference. 80% of the sound from LCR.
I dont like the cheap binding posts!!!
Have zero effect on the quality of sound. I cam from Parasound. Compared them and sold the Parasound...and pocketed the rest of the money

I don’t believe ATI makes any components in the Monolith amplifiers, which is probably the main reason why you see a massive price difference between comparable Monolith amps vs ATI amps.
