Yeah, I wish I could get confirmation that Invicta have no influence on Glycine design and quality... it does seem like it, but would be good to know for sure! PS. Except for the "Glycinvicta" logo of course :D
You should research before making statements. The logo change was pre Invicta. Here's a snippet from a Worn and Wound article from about the time of acquisition..."In an interview regarding the acquisition, Glycine’s CEO Stephen Lack addressed some of these concerns. In sum, Glycine and Invicta will remain two separate entities, with the former still very much focused on making watches the way they’ve been doing, though with a much greater focus on the Airman and Combat collections. “There are absolutely no intentions to have a mixture of the two brands. Glycine will stay Glycine,” says Mr. Lack."
Maybe you missed it but see 14:54 where I reference the logo change before the takeover. But timing notwithstanding, can one seriously ignore the likeness the new logo has to the Invicta wings? I suspect that's more than just coincidence! Good to hear the CEO making those statements... but if it turns out to be untrue, that wouldn't be the first time (nor would it be the last time) we see this from a CEO, would it? Besides, he might not always hold the job either.
The family that owned it and ran it before Invicta are all still there. It's been discussed ad nauseum in the forums and on blogs that Invicta a merely there for distribution and marketing. Did Swatch group destroy Omega or Glashutte? Did Richemont destroy VC or JLC?
No and no, but I think most people don't consider Invicta at the same level (or even "class") as Swatch or Richemont. I do hope that Glycine manages to preserve their integrity and "DNA", but like some, I fear for their future.
I think most of the people who hate Invicta have never owned one or in fact seen one in the flesh. If you want to take the piss out of Invicta for their marketing I get that, if you want to take the piss out of some of their watches because they're big and gaudy I get that. There is no accounting for individual tastes. I have two Invictas in my collection that includes some much more expensive and respected brands. In my opinion Invictas are really well made for their price point. I may be adding a Glycine bronze combat sub to my collection soon and I have no qualms concerning their quality.
I can understand the more rationalised dislike of Invicta. For those who dislike the brand but who have never owned one... well, I don't know where to start relating, really. IMO the 40mm Pro Divers remain essentially unparalleled in value, and are some of the very best you can get for under $100.
Thanks for an excellent review. Now, if only Glycine would follow the Invicta pricing example and sell this watch for $299 with suggested retail of $1600. Oh well.

For the real price that we purchase them at they are punching way above their price point. I strongly feel that people that don't purchas them because of the Invicta connection are really losing out.
Just bought the combat sub (gl0249)... loved it even more than I thought. Going to buy this in a week after payday lol. If anyone is on the fence because of Invicta or other things with this brand dont worry, my combat sub runs 1 second a day fast and I could not be happier with it. Im sure the airman will not disappoint either. (be careful these things are strap monsters XD).
I just got a black “Combat” 36 w/ black leather band & a Sellita movement. It’s running about 5 sec/day fast. It’s a great watch, especially for the $289 I paid!
I own the purist with a cream dial. and it's one of my favourite watches. You are right, despite the long lug to lug, it doesn't wear large. It's a beautifully executed watch. Mine runs at 0 spd straight out of the box, with a 0.0 beat error, amazing. Even after import duty and and postage it cost me about £369 from Jomashop. From a UK supplier I would have been looking at £900.
Very nice watch: I just got one today from Ashford for $319. I have ordered the blue Vario strap. I also own a pre Invicta Pumpkin GMT Airman and I cannot discern any apparent difference in the quality. Time will tell (no pun intended).
Thumbs up for the Vario strap recommendation. They are very comfortable especially the perforated silicone straps. I ended up placing two orders for different widths. They are that good.
Thanks for posting. After watching your video I´ve ordered this watch yesterday on Drop for $365.- :) It's looks much better in the video than on the Drop photo...
Yeah you're right actually... with the rounded sides, bezel shape and especially that 4 o'clock crown, I don't believe there is anything else quite like this!

Thank you for the detailed review , I have the same wrist size as you , i'm on the edge of buying this but a little reluctant , you mentioned that this watch dial looks pleasingly smaller than advertised and attractive on your wrist , but you also said it was maybe awkward for you due to large lugs and would be awkward for many , could you please clarify between the 2 statements.
The dial in combination with the case body makes the watch look smaller than it is. However the lug to lug distance is considerable so these may overhang the wrist, which would make it awkward (and inappropriate). Hope that makes sense!
@@PerthWAtch I guess that means the watch requires a minimum of 7 inches in wrist size for it not to overhang , too bad :( it looked really attractive and kind of called to me , thankyou for the quick reply , subscribing .
Great video and review! I have a Glycine Airman SST12 Purist (24hr dial) and love it. The logo is pre-Invicta. I do feel that the logo, although changed before Invicta, is too much of a blend of the old Glycine and Invicta logos to actually believe that this change happened by chance before the purchase. So far Invicta seems to have let Glycine be Glycine and let them do their own thing, which is good. But we will see if this continues, I do hope so.
Thanks for that - you echo a lot of my own thoughts there actually... some others feel a bit different about how Glycine is now, but I do hope that they manage to preserve their own identity and DNA!
I do have a weird fascination with Glycine, the older models sold on eBay in particular. The older models are a bit smaller and still have the older logo. MSRP is absurd but getting them through the Glycine Direct for a few hundred is a great deal. And I like the unique look. People complain about them using a Sellita or ETA movement. Most Swiss watches do, so who cares. I hope they can move away from the over 40 mm case width.
Thanks for sharing that. Hmm curious to hear that there would complaints about a $500 Swiss watch using ETA movement... what the heck else do people expect??
Great looking watch. This is now my top pick for my 1st Swiss made watch! But I'm low on budget because.... .....I just scored my 1st Europe made watch, the Estoril.
Yes, Borealis. I'm going through their forum now, but it's too long. It's designed by Borealis. Looks like it's parts are made and shipped from outside Portugal, then assembled in Portugal. So not fully Europe made, but I'm perfectly happy with that. But this Glycine Airman is eta movement, so that's another step up the ladder. :))
Yeah, nothing wrong with it being not fully European I think. Turns out this Airman actually has a Sellita - I discussed this in the comment thread started by hyper3cube... but that's still absolutely fine IMO.
Great review. I have an Airman 42 with the GMT Hand. They cost more beacause they are using a modified ETA 2893-2. Right now Jomashop has no Glycines. They used to have several for very good prices. It worked out good for me beacause they are located in New York City and I live in the area.
Perth WAtch online only. But since I’m in the New York City area they send it ground and it comes in a few days, as they are based in Brooklyn, which is part of New York City.
Henry Walden Thanks. A lot of companies are using Seillita instead of ETA. The GMT model is actually the SW-330. The SW-300 is the copy of the 3-Hand ETA 2892-2.
i think the logo changed in 2015, and was likely in the works prior to the change. they were bought by invicta in 2016. now, the logo could have changed because they were in talks, who knows. i have a glycine combat sub in 42 mm that i bought in 2012 i believe, and one i got off mass drop in 48mm end of 2018. quality wise i cant tell a difference, of course im no expert
Yeah that's my thinking about the logo change... it's difficult to ignore the coincidence I think. It does seem like quality is intact for now... and we all hope this will remain unchanged. But wow 48mm! Surely that is not a Combat Sub!?
@@PerthWAtch yup, it is. the 42mm is nice but i have big ole 8.25 inch wrist. the 48mm is much more wrist filling i hope glycine can keep quality up, but we will see.
Thanks for showing. I don't like this version as much, but its still decent. I love the Airman Dc-4 GL0218 and the Airman No1. I'd buy either of those in a heartbeat.
Does this feel a lot more premium in hand compared to the San Martin 62MAS? or the Steinhart 42mm Divers? Mainly talking about case finishing, and general attention to details...
I don't have this watch anymore so this is going by memory... but I would recall yes, it does feel more premium, and probably at the same level as Steinhart.
Very good review, thoughtfully done. I liked the fact that you talked about the watch and not about yourself, like some people do. The video quality was excellent! I think one thing would improve your review, if you would give us some detail about the movement. I'd like to learn more about it.
Simple but nice ... I was going to ask if you thought Invicta had changed the watches much .... I got a Glycine a year or two ago and they seem like a great watch
Jomashop (Worldofwatches) I believe both stores have same address in Brooklyn and have same stock, once had Airman 42 double 24 hour for 562USD. retail of this particular model however is 800-1200. Tho being from EU I'd have to add 20% tax and ridiculous delivery price still awesome deal for US. I got my similar Airman for 600EUR, but since I love it, it's not for sale. ever. Don't get the purpose of double 12, but I bet people buying them don't really care anyway.
Thanks for sharing that... wow 20%!? And I thought we had ridiculous taxes here in Australia! I think the double 12 does allow tracking a different time zone without having to work your brain around a 24 hour dial and without having to pay for a real GMT movement. Another viewer also commented that in comparison with the 24 hour dial watch, this one actually allows you to read the time in dark... when the hour markers fade and you can mainly only see the hands, it's really quite difficult to work out the time in 24 hour dials, but intuitive you should be able to tell it on a standard dial.
That's well spotted... I didn't see that actually. If true, then it should be the SW-200. But if you research the GL224, info coming up points to an ETA base...
Never did like those 1 piece NATO straps with it "tucked in." I prefer the 2 piece nato straps, they look much better IMO. Anyway, good video, keep up the good work mate...
I like the two piece style for the way it doesn’t lift the watch off the wrist, also like the single pass style as it only lets one layer of nylon under the case which is much less problematic than a full two layers.
One thing that needs to be updated about this video is that Glycine no longer offers any ETA movements in their watches. They are all using Sellita movements because Swatch no longer sells ETA movements outside of their own group except to fulfill existing contracts.
is Glycine owned by Invicta? is that the reason why the retail pricing is so high yet selling at bargain pricing everywhere, just like Invicta watches? Just curious.... i like the design of the watch and specially glad to see that they have kept the old original design of the bezel function. Only small gripe I have is that it would have looked nicer if it would have came with a nice metal bracelet with some sort of glide lock feature, along with a leather strap included. Well.... that would be ideal, but nothing in this world is ideal anyway, so...that is that. as for sales pricing, I guess $350 to $450 would be the right pricing for this watch, considering the specs. But again with the additional metal bracelet, I would not mind paying $100 extra... Just my opinion again, thanks for the great review and have a good Sunday. .... Probably it is Monday in Perth by now :+)
Thanks for the comments guys, and for the detailed thoughts as always Alex. I think I'd be happy to go with $450 or even slightly more for this watch, it's really quite a nice little piece. A metal bracelet with glide-lock mechanism would be great, but reality is that I am not sure there is such a thing as a Swiss watch with that feature for anywhere near this price... PS. Sunday in Perth when you wrote the comment, Monday now when I'm replying :)
Pretty watch, RRP is imho far too high, that market is flooded with many other better known brands. Having said that I really like it and if I could pick one up around the 500 mark I'd be all over it. Great review 👍👍
Yes agreed, the MSRP is a bit ridiculous... maybe it's an Invicta influence?? In any case I tend to weight up a watch based on realistic acquisition price, which in this case is under $600.
I got the exact model not too long ago and I like it, but I don't love it. I would say their quality of watch is comparable to Tissot but has better styles imo. If you are used to quality Seiko watches or higher tier watch brands like Tag Heuer+, you might be disappointed. If you can get the watch under $350, I think their watches are great deal.
Thanks for sharing those thoughts... I think Tissot and Rado are fair tier comparisons for Glycine. TAG is higher tier in terms of price but they sure make some weird decisions, like the continued use of pressed metal clasps in their F1 models (some costing well over $3000)!
I felt that way when I flew into Darwin, Australia from West Papua and discovered that the time zone was 30 minutes off. I'd never encountered a time zone like that before.
Glycine screwed the pooch with their Double 12 models. It's an insult to the original 24-hour 1953 AM/PM concept. I can understand the GMT which uses the 2893-2 with its 4th 24-hour hand as it doesn't require becoming accustomed to a main 24-hour dial. The closest to the original are the Purist, which also have the 2893-2, but omit the GMT hand and convert the hour hand to 24-hours, a very simple mod. I have their SST 12 which is the 4-hand GMT 2893-2 in a very nice tonneau SST case. High quality and I'm very pleased with it. Just found a 42 Purist and currently acquiring it.
12 /12 purist is really an amputated glycine version. When you think of glycine airman, you think of 24 hour dial, you think of GMT. This version has none of it. What a shame...
I have a pre-Invicta Combat 6 and a post-Invicta Airman 18 and other than the movement (ETA vs Sellita) the quality is unchanged. Interestingly, Glycine have listened to their fans and are ditching the winged crown, going back to the old logo.
You're jumping around a lot again in the vid Ivan .... slower when you were close on the watch so not to bad but perhaps less coffee before you film :P
just give invicta credit for being a great hustler/business man, he fed the people what they wanted got rich off them, then he was smart enough to acquire a true watch brand. now if he can acquire 2 more brands similar to glycine and clean up that invicta shit he becomes a major player. glycine is still a great watch.
@@PerthWAtch what I mean is acquired a brand with some form of cache and an actual top teir product. Not just a poorly designed oversized fashion watch
Honest opinion here: hi there, great topic you have brought up. In floyd mayweather's words- absolutely! In my opinion, Invicta has destroyed the heritage of the brand. The proof is from their re-issue of the original airman. It had 1atm and everyone on the forums was saying maybe they are trying to be conservative with the rating. What a load of....... In addition to that, the construction had a drilled hole inside the case which destroyed most likely the water resistance. The hole they had in the case was on the original airman case to allow the wire hacking feature that the old airman was so famous for. Basically, invicta copied the vintage case and added that hle in the new release. Again, the forum members on wus said maybe invicta was going to add the wire hack feature later on. Again, what a load of....... They have way too many versions of the airman out and it is just an absolute over load. There is a reason why they are always on mass drop. Just because there is a swiss mechanism inside their cases or any other watch brands case for that matter, it does not mean quality. A mass swiss production mechanism in a piece of poorly constructed work is not quality.
Thanks for those insightful thoughts - I am not familiar with the Airman reissue, and those facts are indeed concerning! They indeed regularly appearing on mass drop now, which is testament to an oversupply. And yes, just because there is a Swiss movement does not imply that the whole product is of good quality. Having said that though, I think this particular watch I have in hand is actually very fair.
Thanks for the clarification. Many viewers have already helped point that out. Please read before making a repeat comment. This is YT - I’ll review whatever I feel like thank you ;)
Thanks for clarifying bro - I based it on what I could find on research, but just goes to show you shouldn't believe everything that people tell you ;)
This is the WW1-quality obsolete construction. The way better Airman is the AIRMAN SST 12 - its outer scale is a CASE-INTERNAL outer scale, operated by a second crown-screw you can turn with the hand. That second crown-screw LOOKS like it needs a regular screwdriver to turn it, but all you need is the thumb-nail in the track and it turns with the slightest circular impetus of the thumb. THAT IS THE REAL «AIRMAN», the «Airman sst 12». Don’t go for the rip-off version.
Thanks for sharing your opinion Kai... I am a little perplexed though, what makes you say that one or either is the "REAL" Airman? Seems like their both real enough to me, and if anything, this vintage bezel style is more "real" as it is closer to the earlier versions. Also I am not sure why you consider this a "rip-off" - if you are updating a design you came up with yourself, people don't call that ripping something off...
Glycine are now sadly tainted by association with Invicta. Also feel these budget mechanical watches are becoming common and boring now. It’s a nice enough watch all that being said, but I would rather have a Seiko on my wrist, or a higher end watch.
Although Glycine is own by Invicta,Glycine has not changed in any way that I can see,I recently purchased this exact watch for my son,the GMT model purchased for myself,it is the same quality as what I hav purchased in the past..
American Breed that’s great to hear ... just to be clear I personally think they are very nice watches and would be happy to wear one. I was just saying that I think their brand perception has been tainted by being taken over by Invicta. Maybe this will wear off over time! All things being said they’re still nice watches and a brand with history
Have Omega ,Hamilton,Tissot,Longines or Certina etc. been tainted by Swatch Group???I think not. The Invicta “Pro Diver” line up are very good value for the money(typically $100 range) I own several(12) and have had zero QC issues(maybe just lucky........or maybe they are actually NOT as bad as the “interwebs” would like you to believe, lol.)Having said that.......yes,most other Invicta are “God Awful “ in design www.swatchgroup.com/en/brands-companies
Invicta acquired the company but have nothing to do with the day to day operations. So it's not tainted by Invicta QC.

If you're interested in this model I would recommend seeing if you can try it on personally... nothing quite like trying it on in person.
What a watch....love it, especially the bezel, totally unnecessary but truly unique....keeping true to it's origins for sure....⌚🏴⌚🏴
Thanks for that Brian - glad to hear you’re enjoying it! :)
Hmmm interesting... do you mean the Borealis Estoril? I'm wondering what that really is, as it's got a Miyota movement...
Go to eBay and get the last (New) 40mm version black dial, 200m water resist, drilled lugs, old logo = $386.US 👍
@@PerthWAtch : I found this quote from Borealis in their forum, "Also factory is closed this week due to HK Watch Fair".
Great review. I have an Airman 42 with the GMT Hand. They cost more beacause they are using a modified ETA 2893-2.
Right now Jomashop has no Glycines. They used to have several for very good prices. It worked out good for me beacause they are located in New York City and I live in the area.
Oh cool... but isn't Jomashop online only? They don't actually have a storefront do they?
Perth WAtch online only. But since I’m in the New York City area they send it ground and it comes in a few days, as they are based in Brooklyn, which is part of New York City.
They now use the Selitta SW300 Instead of ETA on the GMT Airmans
Henry Walden Thanks. A lot of companies are using Seillita instead of ETA. The GMT model is actually the SW-330. The SW-300 is the copy of the 3-Hand ETA 2892-2.
Yes you are correct, I meant SW330.
i think the logo changed in 2015, and was likely in the works prior to the change. they were bought by invicta in 2016. now, the logo could have changed because they were in talks, who knows. i have a glycine combat sub in 42 mm that i bought in 2012 i believe, and one i got off mass drop in 48mm end of 2018. quality wise i cant tell a difference, of course im no expert
Yeah that's my thinking about the logo change... it's difficult to ignore the coincidence I think. It does seem like quality is intact for now... and we all hope this will remain unchanged. But wow 48mm! Surely that is not a Combat Sub!?
@@PerthWAtch yup, it is. the 42mm is nice but i have big ole 8.25 inch wrist. the 48mm is much more wrist filling
i hope glycine can keep quality up, but we will see.
Thanks for showing.
I don't like this version as much, but its still decent.
I love the Airman Dc-4 GL0218 and the Airman No1. I'd buy either of those in a heartbeat.
Cheers Gary... yeah the Airman No. 1 is certainly more unique I think.
@@PerthWAtch thanks mate
Its a solid watch... nice style.
Big fan of Glycine.
Yeah I enjoyed wearing this one :)
Thanks for fixing that bezel, it was really bugging me...
Haha my OCD senses were not on high alert that day :)
That’s a cool watch. Looked real good on the nato. The lug to lug distance would be a concern for me.
Thanks for that - yeah, that lug-lug length is pretty high!
Very good review, thoughtfully done. I liked the fact that you talked about the watch and not about yourself, like some people do. The video quality was excellent! I think one thing would improve your review, if you would give us some detail about the movement. I'd like to learn more about it.
Thanks Tim - did I omit the movement details? I thought it was in there...
Simple but nice ... I was going to ask if you thought Invicta had changed the watches much .... I got a Glycine a year or two ago and they seem like a great watch
Yeah it seems like they're much the same Glycine quality to me... check out the thread started by Vishy for more comments on this.
I think it's a Sellita SW200 movement.
The info I found suggested ETA, but a company could certainly swap it out for Sellita instead
This is a SW200...it says 26 Jewels.
That's well spotted... I didn't see that actually. If true, then it should be the SW-200. But if you research the GL224, info coming up points to an ETA base...
Touche! It's got SW200 etched into the metal there!
I believe it is actually a Sellita SW200-1.
Your opinion:
GLYCINE COMBAT 6 VINTAGE GL0122
OR
HAMILTON KHAKI FIELD KING H64465733
Both good - I would go for the Hamilton as I’ve never had one :)
2824-2 has 25 jewels. the 26 jewels marked on the movement rotor indicates that this is sw200
Yes it does
Never did like those 1 piece NATO straps with it "tucked in." I prefer the 2 piece nato straps, they look much better IMO. Anyway, good video, keep up the good work mate...
I like the two piece style for the way it doesn’t lift the watch off the wrist, also like the single pass style as it only lets one layer of nylon under the case which is much less problematic than a full two layers.
This looks like an excellent watch......I really like it
There is a lot to like about this model I reckon :)
One thing that needs to be updated about this video is that Glycine no longer offers any ETA movements in their watches. They are all using Sellita movements because Swatch no longer sells ETA movements outside of their own group except to fulfill existing contracts.
Yeah that’s right
is Glycine owned by Invicta? is that the reason why the retail pricing is so high yet selling at bargain pricing everywhere, just like Invicta watches? Just curious....
i like the design of the watch and specially glad to see that they have kept the old original design of the bezel function. Only small gripe I have is that it would have looked nicer if it would have came with a nice metal bracelet with some sort of glide lock feature, along with a leather strap included. Well.... that would be ideal, but nothing in this world is ideal anyway, so...that is that.
as for sales pricing, I guess $350 to $450 would be the right pricing for this watch, considering the specs. But again with the additional metal bracelet, I would not mind paying $100 extra... Just my opinion
again, thanks for the great review and have a good Sunday. .... Probably it is Monday in Perth by now :+)
Massdrop have the GMT versions on bracelet. They come up every couple of months.
LOVE this watch. Thank you. Great review.
Amazing!
@@PerthWAtch now I have to start saving :)
@@PerthWAtch if it is an invicta then the RRP would be 1.5k and you could buy it everywhere for $125 lol
That's true... let's see if Glycine slowly slips toward those standards :)
Is there a US dealer or does this have to be purchased from Switzerland or the gray market?
Should be plenty of US dealers selling these
I got the exact model not too long ago and I like it, but I don't love it.
That perforated strap looks great
No. It does not
@@PerthWAtch on the video it seems to look fine. Real life a different experience?
Yeah man, trust me... it’s a real shocker
Well done. Thank you.
Most welcome :)
not ETA but selitta sw 200-1 in your video it is the 26 jewels. eta is 25 jewels.
Yep, a few others had highlighted that also thanks!
welcome back teacher
Thanks man :)
@@PerthWAtch how much watch
Many many watches! :)
Good review and a very nice watch 👍 thanks Ivan 😀
Thanks James, most welcome as always :)
Agree with Steve. In my view this is a $300+ watch.
My apologies, who is Steve??
Steve made the comment earlier and I was agreeing with him
Ah I see what you mean... the comments have been generous in number and I struggle to keep track! :)
The simple answer is hell no. I have versions from both era. They are great and getting very hard to find, case closed. Happy hunting
Thanks for sharing your opinion.
Hahaha if you're in one of those odd timezones, you need to get out immediately!!
Haha I take your point!
I felt that way when I flew into Darwin, Australia from West Papua and discovered that the time zone was 30 minutes off. I'd never encountered a time zone like that before.
Imagine if it was one of those 15 minute offsets! :)
The extend out lug just looks very weird.
What do you mean?
Yeah I get where you're coming from and you're definitely not alone in feeling that way!
It looks like the Guanqin brand logo!
And Breitling. And Longines. But Invicta are the ones who bought over Glycine ;)
I cant unhear the sound made at 11:12
What was that??
@@PerthWAtch it was like a high pitch squeal you made I think haha
Pretty sure that was my young toddler... she was upset at something at the time I think 😂
12 /12 purist is really an amputated glycine version. When you think of glycine airman, you think of 24 hour dial, you think of GMT. This version has none of it. What a shame...
Yeah what a shame!!
Klasse Nice.
Yes
I have a pre-Invicta Combat 6 and a post-Invicta Airman 18 and other than the movement (ETA vs Sellita) the quality is unchanged. Interestingly, Glycine have listened to their fans and are ditching the winged crown, going back to the old logo.
Oh cool, I didn't hear the news about going back to the old logo, that's good of them! Thanks for sharing those thoughts and experiences! :)
@@PerthWAtch They don't seem to have publicised it much, I read it on watchuseek. The old logo is back at the top of the Glycine website.
They had to go back to old logo because Armani brand took them to court and they loose.
A gorgeous looking watch spoilt by its ridiculously large lugg width.
Large lug to lug distance, yes.
You're jumping around a lot again in the vid Ivan .... slower when you were close on the watch so not to bad but perhaps less coffee before you film :P
Thanks for the feedback again - sorry mate, I can't cut the coffee, I'd never get round to making videos if I did! :)
just give invicta credit for being a great hustler/business man, he fed the people what they wanted got rich off them, then he was smart enough to acquire a true watch brand. now if he can acquire 2 more brands similar to glycine and clean up that invicta shit he becomes a major player. glycine is still a great watch.
Invicta rocks and is already a major player. He did acquire 2 other brands actually. But what do you mean by “true watch brand”?
@@PerthWAtch what I mean is acquired a brand with some form of cache and an actual top teir product. Not just a poorly designed oversized fashion watch
Invicta did not "Screw up Glycine" They helped it!
How so?
Why so much hate for Invicta? Is it cool or in to do so. WTF?!
The company hasn't done itself favours with some of its decisions... you can find plenty of discussion about this in forums, etc.
awesome good
Thanks :)
On Drop for $379 right now. 10/20/19
Woohoo!!
quanti misura lag to lag?
Dunno man, I don’t have the watch anymore
Why do some people pronounce ETA instead of just E.T.A.
Probably similar reason to why some say E.T.A. instead of just pronouncing ETA ;)
Nice review, but that Glycine is not for me at any price.
I guess few watches will suit everyone... what particular facets do you dislike or find unsuitable?
Glycine is fine. These silly Invicta hating people are nuts. Glycine is fine, combat sub and airman thinking of a 3rd
Indeed, and we can all be thankful!
@@PerthWAtch where do I buy the best made parnis watches
Well, lets put it this way; Before Invicta I was interested in Glycine. Now, Glycine is not on my radar.
Why?
@@PerthWAtch I have no real valid reasoning other than I'm interested in other Swiss brands.
Sounds like it’s got nothing to do with Invicta then…
@@PerthWAtch Nah, I still think Invicta is gonna trash the brand, but I hope I'm wrong. We will see.
Short answer is no.
Very concise :)
That’s a Sellita SW200-1 26 jewels is right there on the rotor not eta !!! Don’t review a watch if you can’t even tell the difference
Thanks for the clarification. Many viewers have already helped point that out. Please read before making a repeat comment. This is YT - I’ll review whatever I feel like thank you ;)
Give them a couple more yrs before Invicta finds a way to screw up the brand.
Haha that's what I fear for Glycine, but do hope they manage to preserve their integrity and design!
It's not ETA based it's a selita based movement, smh, it even says 26 jewels on the rotor bro
Thanks for clarifying bro - I based it on what I could find on research, but just goes to show you shouldn't believe everything that people tell you ;)
This Airman has almost none of the characteristics that make the Airman line special and is pretty much just an airman in name only.
I get what you mean, BUT... surely that wacky crown lock counts for something! ;)
Can't stand when people put their watch on the right wrist. Unless your a lefty show it on the left wrist please.
I’m a lefty. You’re just gonna have to lump it ;)
:)
;)
Glycine are now sadly tainted by association with Invicta. Also feel these budget mechanical watches are becoming common and boring now. It’s a nice enough watch all that being said, but I would rather have a Seiko on my wrist, or a higher end watch.
I've had pre-Invicta and post-Invicta Glycines. Invicta has not tainted Glycine in the least. Same quality and finishing. Oh yeah...lower price now.
Christopher Paluck i am referencing brand image that has been tainted - this really matters. I am sure quality and finishing is fine
The Invicta “Pro Diver” line up are very good value for the money(typically $100 range) I own several(12) and have had zero QC issues(maybe just lucky........or maybe they are actually NOT as bad as the “interwebs” would like you to believe, lol.)Having said that.......yes,most other Invicta are “God Awful “ in design
