Did you know I have a "Buy Me A Coffee" page buymeacoffee.com/countryhousegent Perfect for when you'd like to contribute to the channel, or simply want to buy me a coffee/pork pie/beer/lamb vindaloo (delete where applicable). Cheers,
Thanks Kevin, for taking us along on this great cruising adventure and it's really good to see that you and Aslan are doing well. I will definitely be watching the engine rebuild when you get to do it but in the meantime I'll be watching all of your cruising adventures. Take care and all the best. Stevie
It is a pretty amazing thing to have 15K people immediately watch something when it drops. I think it's because it's consistent and well done. Thanks for a view of another part of the world. Happy Saturday.
Sensible world. Sensible pace. That's what draws me back every time to CHG. When the world's hell bent on going mad there's always Kevin and Aslan, and lovely canals in a far away floating, shimmering world to go back to. Thanks for that.
You invest a great deal of time, energy, patience, money, thought, wit, & creativity (not necessarily in that order 😁) into bringing the canals to our chosen viewing device, and I must thank you once again!! My money is on the title being an Iron Maiden, not a Leon Russell reference, but I’ve been wrong before 🙂. All the best & fun/safe travels!
I came here at series 1, while struggling with anxiety and panic attacks. The calming nature of these videos really helped me through a hard time. Also one of the first episodes went through Rugeley, my home town. Thank you for taking the time to produce these videos, to some it means a great deal.
Hi CHG, am normally not one to comment on my fav vids; it's just that you've been the one constant narrowboater making great content whilst so many others have fallen by the wayside (or should that be towpath-side!) So, y'know,a huge thank you for bringing a shining light into an otherwise drab and dreary country I live in.
Excellente CHG... Love it... Aslan may smoke a bit, but I have to say that her chugging puts me in just the right mood for a little nap... LOL... Thanks Kevin!! Cheers from Tennessee, USA
Kevin, thank you so much for the time that you take to film and edit these videos. I greatly enjoy the cruise, the commentary, and the views. It’s a treat that I value highly. See you next time!
My weekend would not be complete without a chapter from the adventures of Kevin and Aslan. Thank you for giving me a bit of time to just relax to the gentle sounds of Aslan and your narrative. Wish it could be all year long. Safe journey.
HI from Arkansas, USA !!! We so enjoy your narrowboat travels and adventures, Kevin !!! My apologies for not responding often with likes or comments, but so you know my husband and I have been watching your channel from the beginning. We look forward to each season, and new videos. 😊 On another subject... I just received a Bialetti coffee pot, just like the one I saw you use in one of your videos. As you said how you enjoy the coffee, how simple to use etc... I decided to buy one. 👌 Well it is unboxed and ready to use. Am anticipating an excellent cup of coffee. 👍😊👍 ENJOY the day, Kevin 🤗
Many thanks. Great to hear you've enjoyed the series and videos from the start, it's very rewarding to know. 🙂 Would be great to hear how your first cup of 'classic' coffee went. Cheers again,
@CountryHouseGent 🖐 Hey, am here to report about my first cup of coffee, with the Bialette coffee pot. I went to a shop 25 miles from me, to have the appropriate coffee beans ground. My first cup of coffee was not just about the coffee but also fun to see how the pot worked. The coffee was smooth and delicious! This has now become part of the morning routine! Thanks for you indirectly directing me to a new way(for me) to enjoy my one cup of coffee a day. 😂 Kevin, you are appreciated 👍 ENJOY your weekend 😁👌
That's great Celia. I've found that the little ritual once a day of setting the Bialetti up, smelling the coffee and the gurgling as it percolates through, is as enjoyable an experience as the coffee is to drink. Cheers 🙂
Many people, including myself, have little idea what goes into editing videos. Thank you for the time you spend to create such inspiring and enjoyable content. I eagerly await what's next, coming around the bend. Be well. Be safe. Have fun! Cheers!
Thank you so for making my Friday evening!!! And because it’s Friday and I’ve been Skyping and texting and on messenger with family and friends , I’ll watch this again over the weekend. Thank you 🙏 for being you!
My Friday has just been elevated to amazing! Oh ! I do look forward to winter 2024. I like to see the mechanics of the grand lady. Very interesting to see how she works. Thanks for the great video. I look forward to the next one.😊
There was I, thinking I'm the only person in the world who quotes the famous line: "Wash day, tomorrow. Nothing clean, right!?" 😅 I'll be back to listen for more! 👍
The life of a narrowboat mover would be an interesting one, poking around in so many different boats. So would the life of a canal based cafe/coffee shop owner. Yet you constantly prove the life of a continuous cruiser is just as interesting. While similar, I'd imagine no two days are the same, even while moored up for a few. New people coming and going all the time. Another cracking and calming episode.
Awww love this episode! We did Braunston to Napton last Friday on the last day of our holiday having been to Stoke Bruerne. We decided to head to The Folly for our last meal and turn at the winding hole and moor up ready to head back to the boat yard the following morning 😭. I doubly thought of you as not only was I wearing my CHG ‘Lock up your pork pies’ T-shirt, The Folly had Faggots 🤮 on the menu! Thank you again! 😊
Finally, got to watch this weeks installment! Thanks Kevin (CHG). I volunteered over the weekend at Wellsfest in Jackson MS (39th year... music festival for whole family). I didn't get to "recharge" with Aslan's travels until this AM. :) Cheers!
I noodle and toodle on a nylon 6-string. Even though I live in the heart of blues country, I tend to play "folky" ballads (stories). I relish your show. I hope it is as centering for you as it is for me. I know there is a lot of effort and expense involved! @@CountryHouseGent
Just started watching your vlogs after binging all well deck diaries and floating our boat, fount your first few vlogs very moving and enjoyable. Said to my wife if we were ten years younger we would get a narrowboat but now a seventy year something old fart would have the patience or skill to get a nb into a lock and would be shouting at everyone to get out of the way. Looking forward to catching up on all your old content.👍🏻
What a superb way to start a Saturday morning down here at the dull edge of the planet! Thanks, Kevin, you make my week without fail. So Aslan smokes? Well, she's old enough, innit?
A busy Vlog ! Boats Galore ! Still, I suppose that's what you'd expect at ANY junction ! Entertaining as ever, even though you need an extra Mortgage to afford the Fuel ! I can remember a time when you could get 4 gallons of Premium petrol for a Quid ! Can't wait until the Engine comes apart ! Stay Safe ! Stu xx
Awww another wonderful vlog glad Aslan will get a new heart Kevin just what I could do with not doing well with heart failure but at 78 guess it one of those things tc now look forward to next week the oldies 🤗👍👋
Moored up just below you past Heyford Warf. Not difficult to spot me as there's a 1950 AJS on the deck. Took to a narrowboat in July after a breakdown having watched the transformation in your mental health. I'm pretty much where you were in season one. If you're passing say Hi. Always up for a chat on boats and bikes. Love your VLOG! :)
exceptionally entertaining installment, Kevin, you navigating the Grand Union -- a few tense moments around the near-grounding of Aslan and your wise adjustment: "all part of the fun"...must say I'm impressed with your calm assessment of overhauling Aslan's engine, which you evidently plan to do yourself, a major job for my mechanic -- looking forward to next week!!!
appreciate these videos so much and they are like a meditation for me Kevin. I'm not a videographer & have no idea how u get these various views but it's a wonderful experience joining you on your adventures.
Hey to you, here in the U.S. some of us use Transmission fluid in the Diesel,it helps in cleaning, if you are using a mix fuel might be why lot of smoke at start up, also check injectors, worn rings should use more oil and have blue smoke, check engine temp could be running cold☺️
Watched all your videos from the start Kevin, and living in an old industrial part of Lancashire I am still overjoyed at what you show us of the beautiful country I was born in.
53 liters comes out to about 14 gallons. The average volume for a midsize sedan like a Honda Accord. This week I paid $3.49US per gallon to fill up my Honda Ridgeline. It came out to about $58-$59US to fill it up. More than I wanted to pay but less than it was about the time you filmed this video. That’s all I am going to say about that. I enjoyed this video, thank you!
I think the turnover bridge is for changing the towpath from one side to another, without unhooking the towline from the horse! But what do I know? Love from Denmark 🙂
I’m bit behind on your videos. It’s pretty cold here now & I’m playing catch-up while tending the wood stove. It looks absolutely beautiful where you are, not just the weather but the scenery! Thank you for sharing your travels with us.
Your travels today are a welcome distraction from me having covid. The "chugging" is quite relaxing. You should sell that as a sleep aid/meditation aid. 🙂
The brickwork on the bridges is beautiful; skills! I'd buy a book of pictures of bridges alone. I like when the canal is quiet and a bridge makes a circle with its reflection. I see there are a few bridges that are purely concrete. Sad that. (See what I did there. I'm not British, picking up the vernacular...)
You said that Aslan's engine uses about 100 ml per 8 hours. In US measurements that is about 3 ounces (8 oz to a cup); so less than 1/2 cup by my figures. And, it's a diesel so there are many I have seen that smoke much more. Love your VLOGs.
Looks like there was a lot of traffic this time. I've watched from the beginning and now have my own Beekeeping channel that I just started. I've been a photographer for years but, video is another whole game especially when you do it "ALL" yourself. I'm a little surprised only a few boaters wave as they go by.
Hi, I went along that section nearly 30 years ago in a little 4 berth hire boat, single cylinder Kohler engine I think it was, wood burner that got the boat so hot I had to open the doors to the cratch area overnight🥵 went down as far as Warwick and visited the castle then back up through and on through Braunston tunnel. So nice to see stretches I have travelled myself. Driving a tipper is a bit like Aslan on corners and blind bends, can't see anything coming the other way till on the point of it, then you can guarantee it will be an artic ! Breath in time 😂😂
Did you know I have a "Buy Me A Coffee" page buymeacoffee.com/countryhousegent Perfect for when you'd like to contribute to the channel, or simply want to buy me a coffee/pork pie/beer/lamb vindaloo (delete where applicable). Cheers,
YES all is right with the Universe. Kevin and Aslan are back with another video.
Agreed
I love the sound of Aslan. It is so calming to me.
It's a great white noise! 😊
Thanks Kevin, for taking us along on this great cruising adventure and it's really good to see that you and Aslan are doing well. Those are gorgeous rural scenes; great work capturing them! Very enjoyable.

I’d love to sit in that narrowboat cafe. Perfect!
I didn’t realize how much work goes into editing. Well done- it’s appreciated by many. Thank you!
So very much appreciate your wit and work bringing this true delight into our viewing world! ❤

Thanks! My husband and I enjoy watching your adventures.
Many thanks Rachel and hubby. That's most appreciated.

Greetings and Merry Christmas to you from Nick and Kimberly in Chicago. We love your documentary (and cooking ideas).
Takk!
Tack så mycket. Jag uppskattar det.
Hope you (and we) get some cruising in for season 11. Thanks for the recipe.

Oh so sorry to hear that Ann. Hope there's good treatments available for you? 🙏
I Kevin yes a very busy canal but interesting and scenery all for now 😊
Just spotted Oak at 10 minutes in - stunning canal boat.
Another very watchable video, thanks Kevin, keep them coming

Funny the bird looked like he was bobbing to the beat of your engine.
I think so to. It's a catchy rhythm. 🙂
appreciate these videos so much and they are like a meditation for me Kevin. I'm not a videographer & have no idea how u get these various views but it's a wonderful experience joining you on your adventures.
I'm late to watching this video but better late than never, right? Thanks for the entertainment Kevin and Aslan!
Thank you so much, I appreciate that. Great to hear you enjoyed the video. Cheers again,
Love your videos. Best ones to watch by far❤️

The black duck looks like he’s bobbing to the beat of your purring engine 😅
That's a moorhen, also known as skitty coot, marsh hen, swamp chicken and common gallinule.
Oops the moorhen looks like it’s bobbing. We don’t have them here in California 🤭
That was nice…. Thanks for sharing!
Watched all your videos from the start Kevin, and living in an old industrial part of Lancashire I am still overjoyed at what you show us of the beautiful country I was born in.
Nice one Kevin keep them coming çant wait to see the engine rebuild ⚓⚓
What lovely viewing. I could sit watching your travels for hours.
That last shot of the countryside was the best! Thank you for the nice films of your journey. A viewer from Indiana;)
Another great ride Kev. Thanks for the lift.
Ahhh...Another Friday and another excellent video....Thanks Kevin (and Aslan)...

Thank you Tina. Yes it's pretty cold here as well now. 😊
@@CountryHouseGent ...be well & warm 🌞
Leon Russell - old school. The best.
3.38 Oz = 100 milliliters (one quart is 32 oz) So not bad at all!!
Lots of traffic!! Navigating that winding canal looked rough. But a pretty canal.
Your travels today are a welcome distraction from me having covid. The "chugging" is quite relaxing. You should sell that as a sleep aid/meditation aid. 🙂
thanks dood
It is a fantastic distraction from the blazing full auto gunfire from my neighbors… I love it!
Kevin, that was a slick move getting grounded after speaking to "the lady washing her boat". Sly rascal.
😆
There isn't a measure small enough to represent 100ml of oil in the U.S 😉 Looking forward to the top-end rebuild next year 😀
The brickwork on the bridges is beautiful; skills! I'd buy a book of pictures of bridges alone. I like when the canal is quiet and a bridge makes a circle with its reflection. I see there are a few bridges that are purely concrete. Sad that. (See what I did there. I'm not British, picking up the vernacular...)
Hi Kevin! Thanks for having me along.
You said that Aslan's engine uses about 100 ml per 8 hours. In US measurements that is about 3 ounces (8 oz to a cup); so less than 1/2 cup by my figures. And, it's a diesel so there are many I have seen that smoke much more. Love your VLOGs.
