Did you know I have a "Buy Me A Coffee" page buymeacoffee.com/countryhousegent Perfect for when you'd like to contribute to the channel, or simply want to buy me a coffee/pork pie/beer/lamb vindaloo (delete where applicable). Cheers,
You really give us something that feels personal. Very happy to pitch in what I can. There's an old saying that I just made up - "if you like a business and what they offer, support it!"
Still watching for the same reasons. The tour of canal system with Kevins (your) short but informative commentary and witty humor. I appreciate the zoomy map thing showing the route and surrounding areas. Its just a very well put together little gem of entertainment without drama or violence or made up scenes. Just Kevin (you) and Aslan and what you see is what you get. I love it. Keep on chuggin my friend I've never met, and I'll keep watching....
I cannot help but to think, what a wonderful and peaceful life. It's the countryside combined with the water, purple flowers growing on the banks, and the overcast sky that culminates into pure bliss. I enjoy your video's on a 100 inch screen hooked up to my stereo system. Oddly enough, even if I'm viewing on my cellphone, it's always a dam good show. Thanks!
@@CountryHouseGent It's on a projection screen placed on my office wall opposite my desk and recliner. To your point, it's a nice setup and incredibly immersive. At some point down the road, I want to create a circus cinema system. It's a large round screen system that uses the Insta 360 to project all sides into a room. Well, just an idea. On the other hand, I would rather be out there on the canal system filming than just watching. There is nothing like the real thing you know. Thanks again for your work. You always have my support!
I'd love to be able to look in all those little shops, some wonderful things to eat while having a cup of tea. Peace and quiet.......Thanks for showing us around and thanks to the shopkeepers who let you film! Till next time....Cheers!!
To quote the author & former tech exec, Seth Godin, “Marketing is no longer about the stuff that you make, but about the stories you tell.” If I owned a shop in a lovely canal-side village, I would covet being a small part of the CHG/TBN story! Happy to see the shop in Napton agreed! Thanks Kevin & keep on cruisin’! 😀
Simply to say .... THANK YOU Kevin. We always savour your 25+ minutes videos, travelling through beautiful countryside, listening to your commentary, always with your brilliant sence of humour that has us chuckling away. Cheers Kevin you always bring sunshine into our day and we never watch without a cuppa, that just wouldnt seem right. All the best for now Kevin. Floss and Jan x
17:00 The Narrowboat named Kestrel…reminded me of my love for the birds…and seeing them following Robbie Cummings on The Naughty Lass, not long ago! Robert Fuller has a RUclips Channel that follows them closely…also… You do a fine job capturing the narrowboat experience Kevin! Thank You It is the little moments I love the most. ❤❤❤ Serindipitous Semantics
Wow the canals might be commonplace for the people of the UK but this is high adventure for us Pennsylvania hillbillies!! I enjoy every minute of your videos, Kevin!
What a lovely little village, oh how I wish there were more little shops like that around beats Sainsburys ! 😊 thanks for the vlog Kevin another good one !
Hello Kevin. When you get to bridge 220 at Shipton on Cherwell, watch out for the Church of the Holy Cross. Behind the church is Shipton Manor, once owned by Richard Branson who built a recording studios there. It's where Mike Oldfield recorded Tubular Bells. Into Thrupp and you will find Annie's tea room and then The Boat pub which featured in some of the Morse episodes. Happy cruising!
I always enjoy time spent with you and Aslan. It seems there's less and less Narrowboat RUclipsrs on the water anymore. Makes one appreciate your content all the more.
This has to be some of the most beautiful scenery since I started watching you over 3 yrs ago Kevin. The old bridges with NO graffiti were a glorious sight to behold! Can't wait for next weekend now. Cheers from West Texas--
Kevin, I started watching your narrowboat adventures back when you bought Aslan. Then the world went sideways and we got through it keeping up with your trials. Last September we finally made it over to the UK and went straight way to Ely where we rented a beautiful vessel from the Black Prince hire company there. It was an amazing week learning the slow pace up and down the rivers Ouse and Cam visiting Cambridgeshire and ending up trading up to a cruiser near Heacham to explore the Broads. Best holiday we have ever had! All I can think of is getting back over there for the next adventure for us. Maybe to bath or if we can figure out winning the lottery, a month around the Lake District. Thank you for your inspiration from the panhandle of Texas!
Thank you so much and delighted to hear how much you enjoyed your travels along some of our waterways. Sounds to me as though you've caught the canal boat bug - more journeys to come I'm sure. Cheers,
Thanks again, CHG! Enjoyed your latest episode, always fun to get an intimate look at British village life. Your comment about those not wanting free advertising was spot on. Boggles the mind, it does. Said in your last episode how busy the canals were, and I see it continued to be so, for most of this episode as well. Hope you enjoyed the trip as much we viewers...this one at any rate...enjoy watching it. Cheers till next time@
What a wonderful part of the country and the Oxford is such a fantastic experience. A special mention to Fenny Compton Marina, where I purchased my first narrowboat and enjoyed every minute of our time there. Great memories
What; no pork pie appraisal from that excellent looking little shop? They looked worthy. You could have really put them on the map if not a pie chart .......
Thanks Kevin for taking us along on this lovely cruise through beautiful countryside and fantastic village with the brilliant shop with a very accommodating shopkeeper with good business sense. I hope that you are doing well. Take care and all the best. Stevie
An inspiring video. Beautiful scenery, peaceful at times. While I dread to think what these years of you standing downwind from your muffler may do to your health, I adore the sound of the ol’ girl.
Thank you, Kevin, first I've seen this particular stretch of the canal. Not surprised Napton Junction came up so quickly... Aslan blazing along at 2mph. 😏
It was a pleasure to see you enjoying my neck of the woods, Kev. And even better to have a brief encounter with your good self while I was daubing (painting) my stern as you walked past! Go on the CHG! Wishing you all the best on your trip down the Oxford.
Grand vlog Kevin just what I need thanks on your kind words last time not much can do just keep the fluid from heart n longs no cure carry on best can tc now 👍👍🤗
This is my favorite time of the year. College and pro football but before that all begins...Kevin and Aslan starts my perfect weekend. Thank y'all 😊 Safe travels, vaya con dios and thanks for sharing. Tx 🇺🇲
You are really in the "sticks" as we say here in Texas. The Oxford winds like our rivers, you can almost see yourself coming. Really appreciate your videos on the narrowboat - of all the narrowboaters out there, you're the only one who does it right. Thanks for taking us on your journeys!
As soon as you walked along the road into Napton, hemmed in by growing greenery, I found myself wondering if this looks like Constable Nick Rhea’s Aidensfield. The buildings sold me on that wish. I’ve been reading the multitude of books, one after the other, for months. Then when you went into the shop that was also the post office, I thought, oh, yes, this is great because that’s how it is in the books! Thank you, Kevin, as always you brought me great joy, and I’m not even all the way through the vlog! That to watching now.
You're very welcome Lynette and quite right, villages like Napton are the pieces of "Old England" I often refer to. They're still out there but increasingly hard to find.
Lovely store in a Napton. That basket with signage about fresh cole slaw ingredients was clever. Glad you asked to film and that they said yes. Again this week lots of boats on the canal. Good episode!!
You got your workout in CHG... but lets face it... exercise is a good thing (long as it ain't me)... ROFL... Another excellent episode Kevin... Be well, Cheers from Tennessee, USA
I try to wait until Saturday to watch the latest episode, I can’t this week as it’s cold, wet and miserable here in Scotland. I have also gone right back to the beginning of your journey, so I’m enjoying the whole thing again 🥳🥳.
We're all trying for a better life and when I saw your progs on amazon prime, i knew I had to look you up on YT to see how you're getting along. Well done you. I went on family canal holidays every year and have many happy memories.
Dig the tee Kevin. Some great scenery and lovely water up Napton on the hill way. Not been in that area for a while, too many locks for kayaking normally go on lovely family walks in those sections. Hoping to get the kayak wet this weekend, hopefully not from the sky... Great seeing so many boats lots of short chats when passing and help at locks. Have fun on your continuous travels. Kev the Brinklow kayaker...😊
Did you see the buffalo at the top of the lock flight? The shop in Napton used to sell buffalo burgers. Never tasted anything better. Yummy 😁 loving the vlogs. Les and Anne on Glendyne
Wot's it like to be nearly over the hill ? Entertaining, nevertheless ! The Holiday crowd, don't help because the want to see how it's done by an Expert ! ! ! Just love the sound of Aslan ! Lovely Area Napton ! See Ya ! Stay safe Stu xx
This is getting too weird now, a few episodes ago you went through Hawkesbury where I grew up which was weird enough, but seeing you go through the village where my Dad currently lives, and where I regularly spend weekends is even weirder. I can assure you the windmill and house attached are stunning. Wish I’d have have known you were in the area.
Gotta love the country life! It's awesome you can find some solitude somewhere as developed as the UK! I want to get over there so bad and try a few months on a narrow boat. One day.
Very nice! I think that you are more patient than I might be with new boat hires. Well, no reason to hold their unfamiliarity against them and I wouldn’t. I have just seen too many videos of atrocious behavior from some thinking they are on the expressway. No sign of that in this video so I could say never mind and delete this. But there’s the algorithm to consider so we’ll let it sit. Lovely photography.
Good to see you today at Thrupp you spoke to my wife i was pulling my trousers up at the time so didn't get a chance to say hello. Nice place to moor here😊
Did you know I have a "Buy Me A Coffee" page buymeacoffee.com/countryhousegent Perfect for when you'd like to contribute to the channel, or simply want to buy me a coffee/pork pie/beer/lamb vindaloo (delete where applicable). Cheers,
That shop in Napton looks a real treat and with, as you say, the right attitude.
Kevin, don't give up. A lot of these guys are selling their boats because their age keep going. You're the best
No worries, I'm not giving up.
Having watched this episode I can now say my weekend has officially begun😊😊👍👍
Every day is a weekend for me 😆
What's a day? 🤭
@camlon1 same for us 2
Hi Kevin 👋 just us 2saying hi and thanks again for this video update 👋 den and sue 👍 👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🚌🚌🚌
Good job five stars 🎉😊😅
What a lovely trip!
Love hearing a dove calling in the Morning, and watching those sparrows having a Dust Bath. The Simple things
Amazing geese that sound just like sheep! 6:15 into the video.
You really give us something that feels personal. Very happy to pitch in what I can. There's an old saying that I just made up - "if you like a business and what they offer, support it!"
That's a fabulous sentiment and thank you for your kind contribution. There is a saying in the UK at the moment. "Shop local." 🙂
Good to see you again sir
That was a very nice little shop. Had every thing one needs
It was a much welcome oasis Marion.

Happy Friday Kevin and Aslan are back!

It's great to hear that Crystal. Thank you,
Good footage, interesting video - Thanks.
What a lovely little village, oh how I wish there were more little shops like that around beats Sainsburys ! 😊 thanks for the vlog Kevin another good one !
Definitely. Better quality of produce as well, most of it locally produced.
Cup of hot tea and another episode. Look forward to this every Friday evening.
Excellent job as usual Kev!
It's a treat to watch your video as always! I hope that you are keeping well Kevin! Cheers from Pennsylvania.
Many thanks for your kind contribution, it's most appreciated. I'm keeping very well, thank you. Cheers again,
Love the sound of Aslan's engine in glorious stereo. .and yes home bargains really did put out their Christmas displays 😂😂
Perfect Friday entertainment! I can understand a shop not wanting you to film if they're busy, but when not... it IS free publicity.
What a beautiful little shop. So nicely laid out, neat and tidy.
Thank you for sharing your adventures.
Much appreciated.

Oh I really enjoyed that video! Peaceful scenes and easy-going narration is a delight. Loved seeing the small village store!
Hi Kevin. It’s good that you’re using the small stores in villages. They often need visitors to keep going. Take care. Nick
Indeed Nick and I frequently find the quality of produce is much much higher compared to the supermarkets.

I have that issue as well with small shops around our county........ While they are handy the 2x-3x price increase is rather ridiculous.

I could easily live in Napton!
Know what you mean. Very slow, laid back and quiet.
And also the word you used…remote!
