An amazingly difficult search. Both parties have champagne tastes on a beer budget, and the young couple don't have a clue of how to get on the same page. Period cottages have small rooms. Period. Buy something with a loo downstairs for dad and even a bedroom downstairs for sis, and get on with it. Have a children and realize that you can't take care of sister, too. Find a place near your son's school and get on with it. When circumstances change, sell and buy up.

'Good enough' has always been my watchword for house buying. It's rare to get everything you would like (for me it was entrance hall, large en suite and kitchen diner lol). My current house in the US is the same - close enough to things I wanted even if not perfect (small bathrooms, average kitchen no room for table or island) but great garden, great quiet location, good sized main rooms. You have to go by your budget and not your 'wants' too - I couldn't afford the house I really would love but the one I have works for the budget I had.

The cottage with the garden in the back and the field behind that with the beautiful view was delightful. The garden was lovely and backed out onto the countryside. Is she looking to grow a field of corn? I feel like she was imposing her will, and then her partner backed her up by stating they would like a bigger garden. it had a nice large living room with a fireplace also a very spacious kitchen. Plus it had the easy access and decent sized bathroom, which would be so essential for her sister. I just don’t get where they’re at. The guy seems sweet enough, but his partner is so demanding and also perhaps it’s both of them that keep switching their tune.
I think the mother with the young son is just plain indecisive. She might be better off if she let him go out househunting alone. that was said tongue and cheek, but only slightly. Also, why move an hour away from school? Could they be in the country Half an hour away. Was it a budget the constraint?
She perhaps has a possibility of buying because the need is quite pressing, and she did make an offer on one place. As to the couple I think they’re going to be at her parents’ house for the next few years minimum.

I'm disabled and use a power wheelchair everyday. These are the basic requirements you need for any house. A zero entry to get inside. A bathroom on the first floor. Now bedroom on the first floor with ensuite would be ideal but if you can, then you need a straight staircase upstairs with a chair lift to take you to the second floor. First floor in UK speak. There you can have a bedroom. This couple is not thinking in terms of accessibility. They want a character home but those often include steps and small rooms and pathways. Usually in the UK there's only one bathroom and it's on the second floor. Phil was awesome not thinking in terms of accessibility. He only showed them one home with a ground floor loo. And none of the rooms on the ground floor were convertible to a bedroom. That's whack. Why was he not showing them bungalows? That would have made more sense. If it was because their budget couldn't afford it then say so. I'm not surprised they didn't find anything that spoke to them. All the properties were inappropriate for their needs. Phil knows better. When there is a wheelchair you have to go with ground floor access to the most needed features. The kitchen, the bedroom and the bathroom. Everything else comes second.
As for the single mom, I don't understand why she held on to that house on the market for a year. The courtyard garden was ridiculous. Way too small and all full of concrete. That's not a garden. You can handle the small spaces of the kitchen and the drawing room on the first floor but that street is way too busy. I wouldn't hold on to that house as an upgrade to her current living situation. And I doubt she was able to find a property that suited her. Life at home with the grandparents is probably just too good. Her son gets along with her parents. And so does she. She'll probably inherit the house instead of buy one. Kirsty at least tried. And she showed the mom a lot of decent properties. It just wasn't meant to be. Sometimes these shows are a waste of time.
But I'm going to fault Phil for his lack of an accessible househunt. As a disabled person, this is something that is completely underserved in the home market. I would like to see more of it in these shows.

    • @legenequesenberry5568

The father and sister are not the buyers. Visits could be arranged at their home that is accessible. If spending time with someone is the important bit, it shouldn’t matter whether that is at their house of yours.

    • @nicoleruvalcaba3452
      @nicoleruvalcaba3452 Месяц назад +1

The couple had been the ones searching for a home. I think that a homes true priority for them was confusing as it changed a bit . Wheelchair access may have been mentioned however with each house Phil had shown, they didn’t make mention of those features being absent so…..you can only do so much with the bits given to work with. Buyers like the three featured in the episode need a host who can go pull out the wand but that’s a different show.
The Second Lady with the house she was wanting to buy, her family sure helped her dodge a bullet. I’m not sure what I thought the house she really wanted was going to look like but yikes, dungeon anyone? Dreary and drab. No life in the home and no good

Poor Phil and Kirstie! What pathetic house hunters. The young couple were wanting something they obviously could not afford and I wonder whether they just wanted to be on TV because the woman wanted a wheelchair friendly house yet never mentioned a downstairs bedroom, downstairs loo or even a bungalow. She came across as a very negative and complaining type of person wheres her husband was slightly better. I think she should spend some of her money on getting that ridiculous and unflattering hairstyle sorted out. The single woman wasn't much better. What a waste of Phil and Kirstie's time.

The younger couple: he keeps talking about "our own little family" - code for "me, her, our kids, no in-laws, no wheelchair accessibility." She thinks she ought to want a home of her own, but doesn't actually want to move, because she doesn't want to abandon her sister. I see three possible endings: build a tiny not-accessible house at the bottom of her parent's garden where he can get away; they split up; the sister ends up in an institution after the mother dies.

What an annoying, whiny young couple. And the single mom is only very slightly better.
Probably two of the worst house hunts I've seen on this show.

I don’t think Kirstie and Phil have patience these days. Kirstie has always had a certain amount of contempt for buyers with a car (!l) or if she deems them ‘picky’, but I think Phil,is losing his pleasantness at times too.
Without these buyers, whatever you think of their goals, you wouldn’t have a show without hem, Kirstie and Phil

People need to have realistic expectations for their budget. You can’t buy an $800k house for 250k, and you can’t expect to have a perfect house for $150k. Just buy the best house you can for your budget and deal with the compromises and buy a better, more expensive house with hopefully fewer compromises in five to ten years.

With clients who have such ridiculous expectations and no ability to make a decision like these clients, how would anyone not lose their patience? Phil and Kristy were remarkably calm and tried to help them see the facts as they are outside of their heads, in the real world!

Yo be fair, they’re in the UK, lol. And it looks like they filmed in the winter.

Just don’t get it: They all want these large gardens, yet just how much use do they get out of them in that rainy and windy climate?!For sitting out there four times per year being cold and freezing?? Besides, I am always astonished of the low building standards in England still! Most of you buy rubbish for meanwhile too much money! But then, you are so used to all of this and don’t really know much better and believe it’s just lovely….

Horrible episode - people are ridiculous in their 'needs'. And B Kirstie is a real Karen in how she hectors Phil - it's not banter, it's almost abuse

Why you keep watching these episodes when all you do is criticise (and seem to have something against Brits) is beyond me.. 🤷🏻‍♀️🙃
