One af my all time favourite... It was the time when Rahman composed a fewsongs based on carnatic ragas. Though he initially known for electronic music and fast paced numbers. This was the time his mastery of classical music also appreciated.
Suhasini Hasan Maniratnam is a well known name at each house in South India. She is a multifaceted personality who has worn different hats such as National Award winning Actress, Camera Assistant, Dialogue Writer, Anchor, Stage Performer, Producer, Social Activist, Philanthropist, Dubbing artist, she was honorary consul of Luxembourg too and many more and excelled in everything. She studied cinematography but by chance she became an actress. And she has directed serials, series, shows, short films such as 8 series Penn 1991, Indira 1995, Putham Pudhu Kaalai " Coffee Anyone?", Ganesh Vasanth.

You’re right, than this version the male version by hariharan is musically better. This version is more of a visual and lyrical treat and to enjoy the innocence and purity the kid carries within who doesn’t understand why the adult world is in chaos always. There are little things to enjoy and she’s calling the listener to sit next her and enjoy with her as she leads., and the other kids are using bharathanatyam mudras to convey the same, more like a sign language.
Suhasini started her career as an Assistant Director - she wanted to direct. She became an actress not by choice - however was successful and became busy as a top heroine for a decade.
You have to listen to a.r.r songs in audio version.. it will transport you. Even if you don't understand the language, musically it will make you wonders.

Suhasini is a kinda left activist, involves in social activities. Camera ofcourse by santhosh sivan. You need a better quality audio version and ear phones because the placement of instruments are very nuanced. Also you should be familiar carnatic way of presenting melodies.
Hariharan version is goated, listen to that.
This song is nit sung by child artist, Harini is an adult singer, she was trained to sing like a small girl for this song
