with additions of magic and blood magic in the valheim mistlands update there has been some intresting discussions in the communitiy. Some say that magic and bloodmagic are broken as magic target players and boss mobs alike making it questionable valheim base defense against nerfed seeker raids. On the same token the new mistlands events raids have been nerfed so many are wondering about the new balance being brought to valheim. So today we are going to be testings magic and blood magic out against the new raid update to see if magic is viable offense. I did give myself magic xp, I know many farm xp for magic and blood magic but I increased magic xp using valheim cheats devcommnads
Frost does increased damage to things wet so it's ridiculously op in swamp
That's a good observation, it kinda makes me wish there was simple magic earlier on in the game, but for now frost arrows will do against Bonemass lol
@Manny The Mage I think the mountain already gave us a taste of magic. Frostner and frost arrows are after all magic weapons, as they already do elemental damage in a way that breaks the laws of physics(unlike fire arrows).
Great video. Though, given the nature of the video’s concept, I would’ve loved to see Magic at its greatest damage output and how quickly it could shred the pre-magic bosses. For instance, farming for swamp key decorations or getting extra artificer tables are things an endgame player might be interested in. Mundane tasks like that require farming those bosses, and knowing how quickly Magic could dismantle those bosses would’ve been cool to see. For example, I know another commenter already mentioned this, but stacking Rested Buff + Queen Buff + Eitr Potion is essentially infinite Eitr that regenerates faster than you can use. Then on top of that, summoning 2 ranged skeletons + shielding them and yourself at the start of combat and throughout combat is just additional damage over time. And you can also perform more intricate combos with the staves, i.e. applying the burn debuff with fire staff then swapping to frost staff for DPS, reapplying the burn every few seconds to let it stack and keep it alive.
In any case, happy to see someone running back through the game a bit to test the capabilities of magic.
Excellent and valid points, I may make a follow up video or set of shorts displaying specifically those effects on the time it takes to kill a boss with magic.
Thank you for your comment, constructive input is always welcomed
@@mannythemage No problem! Thank you for the reply. I’d love to see what you put together
Great video man, really enjoyed you trialling the potential of level 100 magic. I am however curious how much wearing the Eiter Armor Set and using the Queens ability of +100% magic regen (even having the rested buff increases magic regen I believe) would effect the efficiency of the various boss fights
I was curious about those effects on magic as well, I feel like with good Eitr regeneration and with the armor effects would trivialize most of the bosses
@@mannythemage It does double Eitr regen, so I'd say its a must on a mage build. You arent going to tank much anyways with the protection bubble.
Maybe just wear the eiter hood to boost magic regen a little? Seems painfully slow otherwise
@@W4r34rt mage set doubles eitr regen while NOT well rested so maybe half that with rested bonus. Protection bubble at level 100 gives you over 700 effective hp so I would say that's a pretty good tank
Love the zelda music in the beginning of the video, song of storms is a masterpiece
You get more skelly minions the more you upgrade dead raiser, up to 3 at the moment (in my testing, but i think it can go to 4), and pairing it with the proc shield as you have makes it crazy good.
Haven't used dev commands yet but generally I run around in fenris with the bubble and skellies seems to work pretty well especially with the cliff hell that is mistlands
I'll have to try that when I get to the mistlands in my main world
Eitr regen looks rough without the magic robes
Most definitely is, I would be interested in possibly trying this concept again with maxed out magic potential including robes, rested state and The Queen's ability
I've heard that at level 1 blood, the summoned skeletons are equivalent to a 2 star skeleton.
I’d be interested in putting that to the test, those skeletons definitely put in more damage than expected
@@mannythemage Yeah they're really useful for clearing enemies when you're just trying to gather resources and don't want to be bothered.
Just becareful with the protection staff it takes ur health before casting the bubble which will get you killed if timed poorly
I did notice I lost some health with it, makes sense for blood magic
it takes 50% of your current health. so it never kills you
@@grendizergo4193No, but if mistimed it can get you killed.
@@Beanpolr indeed
Great test. On a playthrue with only magic atm and only killes 3 Bosses so far. You shuold have used the magearmor for beter regen
I was thinking of making a short where I test the eitr regeneration! Great idea
Lol. You're all like idk if we have anything moder is weak to. And I'm all like bro it's an ice dragon and you got a fire staff. I think you're gonna be alright. Always nice to see just HOW alright, but thinking it ends alright xD
Lmaoo I know but part of me figured as a dragon she wouldn’t be weak to fire, im just glad it worked out in the end
I'd be interested to see how well 4 skeletons do against each boss... You can summon them and keep a bubble on them for survivability
That would be worth checking out, I’m not sure what the max amount of summons you can summon are, but I know with mods you could make enemies hostile towards bosses
@@mannythemage it's 4 with a level 4 staff no mods
@@mannythemage you can get a level 5 staff to use 5
how do u get lvl 5 all my staff are lvl 3
@@teodornikolov5718Lvl. 3 is max lmao. There is no additional Gauldr Table improvement yet so you have the max for now.
Strategic retreat to get wisp -> Doesn't get wisp
Lol at this point I didn’t realize that the Wisp isn’t listed as “Wisp” in the devcomands. I found out later that apparently the wisp is called the “Demister” in devcommands
@@mannythemage wait, is it? When I was messing with commands I saw wisp as a WispLight or something like that
@@Mielech-cq9fi hmm, I will have to see if that has been updated. I believe that might be the ID for the wisp torches, and not the Wisp light it's self. At least at the time of recording the ID was tagged as "Demister" which is why I couldn't find it originally
10 minutes for yagluth is a lot, this staff does very little damage. I've actually decided to avoid mainstream choices and played entire game with swords instead of maces, yagluth died in like 3-4 minutes because of the debuff effect from the silver sword.
People sleep on spirit, I mean it objectively sucks against most mobs but against yagluth and as we begin to delve into the ashlands, spirits gon be a bit more desirable. Frostner is the og tho
Blocking slows both Eitr and stamina regen btw
bleach soundtrack hits really good
skeletons raised by the dead raiser are stronger than the starred the skeletons and their hp and damage increase at increased levels
Im level 1 blood magic and the skellies i summon are 100% more powerful than normal skellies. Theyre two shotting draugr and able to 1v1 draugr elite. Udk why everyone is saying theyre just regular lol
I guess at a first glance it’s hard to tell, especially because you get magic so late game that, compared to the seekers, the summons seem weaker
@@mannythemage let's be real here. You have the staff of protection too, so that's 200 HP on the skellies extra. They can take on seekers at that point.
I think people just don't care and want everything handed to them. While magic is actually extremely strong if well used.
Zelda music is always based
Bro u need to get rested. It increases Regen rates for HP stamina and eitr
Noted, thank you for the input
Wait theres magic now!!!!
yup and it's kinda broken lol
GET A RESTED BONUS AND MAKE YOUR STAFFS LEVEL 3 BRO
Why you react when being hit you're on god mode
also wear the mage armour set
Why do you even dodge if you are invincible? Youre just wasting time and stamina. Anyways, good video
Ehh, force of habit lol I forget that I turn on god mode sometimes! Thanks for watching
I thought about playing this game then saw the combat...1 kind of attack...seems boring af
Most ignorant comment ever
There is a lot of attacks just magic only has one because there is so many magic weapons swords have 3 different attacks
