Absolutely agree. Am I the only one who's a bit surprised he got 25 years in prison for it with 45 years of parole after? I mean I've seen people convicted of 2nd degree murder who get less time than that. Most people guilty of manslaughter get considerably less time in prison than that... what makes the difference here? Is it begause he was charged with 14 different counts, was he possibly overcharged?
Don't get me wrong, what he did was psychotic amd he deserves many years behind bars, but he wasn't trying to end her living and yet he got more time than many people who do cause death or who falesly accuse others and get them locked up for years for example.

I knew a woman who escaped from a similar abuser. Her husband would come home from work angry, verbally abuse her until she said something back and then beat her senseless. He told her that it was her own fault because she couldn't keep her mouth shut. One day she decided to not react, no matter how bad the verbal abuse. After 45 minutes of verbal abuse, he beat her anyway. When she said, "But I didn't say anything." He said, "But you were thinking it."
That's when she knew at that he would end up killing her if she didn't get out of the marriage. When he left for work, she packed up everything she could fit into her car and left. She heard through family that he was looking for her "to beat her within an inch of her life" for embarrassing him by leaving. She moved two states away and lived in fear that he would find her and kill her.

Why is Rod Smiling? The Gothic Horror of Imbecility
"...I heard a gentle tapping, tapping at my chamber door..." Poe has informed all of us that Gothic literature requires a deep focus on the inner emptiness we all live with. In this dramatic case presented in a highly analytical manner, Dr. Grande verifies the truth of Poe's fascination with morbidity. In the account and including the smile, we see only two people. The world as we know it is in total eclipse. They lived in a psychological dungeon unrelieved by any light from above, or even just ordinary daylight. This is certainly another addition to the ever expanding Gothic literature of darkness.

Luckily she lives on and the children still have their mother with an absence of their father. So the end result is good. Rodney is no longer a danger in her life and is not in the children's lives too. Lucky for Morgan as she likely would never be safe or free of him. Great choice of case to analyise. In some of his other videos Dr. Grande has made a point abt this that I’ve found very elucidating and has stuck with me for a long time. He’s said that the personality characteristics that drive people to commit violent crimes are also often characteristics that will ensure they get caught. So for example being impulsive, arrogant, and unable to control one’s emotions might contribute to a person committing a violent crime and then also contribute to them not having the insight, patience, and self control to adequately conceal the crime.
The most terrifying kinds of offenders are the people who have the inclination to commit violent crimes but that are also very disciplined, insightful, organized, and highly functioning. One doesn’t immediately suspect them and they have some of the traits needed to actually escape justice.

I 'rescued' my now wife from someone just like that.
Same story, naive, innocent, first 'real' boyfriend, first sexual partner.
With nothing to compare the relationship with, gaslighting aplenty, deliberate isolation from her parents and sisters, and two children to protect with nowhere to go; it was a nightmare at home and false smiles to the world.
I got her and her children out of there.
She is very happy now but still bears the emotional scars of those 20+ years of hell.
The now ex husband is scared of me but still tries to play mind games with her as court orders insist he must have a meaningful relationship with the children. Ever the Narcissist, he uses this avenue to manipulate her and make her feel worthless. He's a grub.

All of these toxic relationships show good reason to focus on higher education first and foremost so you're independent and have time to grow as a person before entering into a relationship and bearing children - maybe channels like this one will be a shining light - because the world sure isn't a perfect place and we all can learn positive ways to maneuver through it.

Please ladies when you are dating a guy who suddenly gets angry and yells, run the other way. You will never change him. It is just some baggage that he has and unless he's willing to seek anger therapy or whatever, the fighting just gets worse. My ex-husband had a huge temper and he would become irrational when he got angry. It was scary. Finally I realized he had a lot of unresolved issues from his childhood and I actually get very scared when people yell at me. Hence, he is my EX. Too many women try to stick it out with their husbands hoping they will change because he would end up apologizing and promise not to do it again. But, it never ended. Just be safe.
