    I mixed that same Amsoil atf in a Toyota/scion FRS with around 40k miles and shifting improved. (Did it twice at about a month difference to have mostly Amsoil in). Moved on to mix 5q Amsoil into a 2015 sienna trans with about 45k miles. It is working smoothly. Plan on keep adding Amsoil in the future. Did it many years ago on two other vehicles with great long term results.

    You are correct about leaving a little dirty oil in the trans. I just watched a Toyota tech claim it was good to leave a little in because it’ll add a little friction fir the plates to grab😛😛
    Unfortunately I was led to believe that my 3rd gen Tacoma could go 150,000 miles before the trans fluid needed changing. I felt that didn’t seem right. Today my truck was at 78,000 on its first fluid swap. It was dark and no surprise since I live in the so called mountains and carry a couple of tons in the truck bed driving up the mountain once a month.
    Today I put in 3.5 quarts of Amsoil fuel signature series and bled the 1/2 quart out.
    I noticed an immediate improvement. I’ll run this for one month and do a 3 quart drain and fill to get it close to mostly Amsoil and I’ll repeat this in another 10,000 miles.

    Just changed my trans fluid with Amsoil CVT fluid in my 2019 Mitusbishi Outlander Sport GT 2.4 liter engine. Did a drain and fill @ 60k. I actually changed the cooler filter (paper one) and the under pan filter (metal) at 55k as my car is used and didn't know what was done to it. Anyway, after the change it's much quieter and smoother and I just changed the fluid 1k ago (OEM J4) when I replaced the filters. Next change in 30Ka with Amsoil!

    I switched from Motor Craft oil to Amsoil oil and the truck got 1.2 miles per gallon more. I don't care about saving that small amount of gas but I think it`s better because I get that milage from less friction. Less friction means less wear on the engine.

      To drain atf car should be called. Adding fluid and checking fluid requires special processes, I don't know how it should be done on Mercedes. If you have drain plug and fill plug. You can add same amount of atf as came out, however it's not going to be correct. Why, because atf evaporates.

Almost immediately, I notice a smoother shift. After 300 miles, I notice that I was getting more MPG, was average 20.9mpg before and 22.2mpg after Amsoil. I have a question about drain and fills since we're talking about mixing fluids. I just did one on my '15 Sonata 65k miles. Only 4qt in a 7.9 capacity. I want to get as much new fluid in as possible. So l was wondering if l can buy Maxlife ATF (it meets Hyundai SP-4M spec) two 1 gallon jugs. Drain and fill with both, then on the last fill use amsoil. Two jugs of maxlife is the price of one jug of amsoil. I fugure l can get an extra drain and fill ensuring newer fluid. My guess is by the third fill it would be half maxlife and half amsoil. Would that be a bad thing? Or should l just buy 2 jugs of amsoil and just settle for 2 drain and fills instead of 3?

    • @repairvehicle
      @repairvehicle  3 года назад +4

      Bad idea mixing amsoil atf with valvoline on 3rd drain and fill. Either use valvoline or amsoil, but not mixing. Amsoil atf cost more because it's a quality fluid, and quality comes with the cost. There is a reason why you choose sonata and not chevy Malibu or Ford fusion.

      @@repairvehicle I used valvoline max life atf in my old 98' f-150 just to get the old transmission fluid out at 60k, but it was 23 years old. Thankfully I can drop the pan, and I even have a drain bolt on my torque converter so I get nearly all the fluid out that way. Then I replaced about half of it with amsoil 2k miles later. It shifted better after the valvoline, but much better even after the amsoil, I use amsoil in all my vehicles. The next time I should have it all changed out with amsoil. Valvoline is a cheap way of getting old fluid out, and is not bad trans fluid. Better to have half valvoline new fluid with amsoil, than half old fluid and half amsoil.
      Remember that with drain and fills, you waste some new fluid after the first time. First drain may get 25% new. The next one is a 25/75 mix, so that 25% now affects only the 75% left, now when you drain and fill you get another 18.75% out. now you have about a 44% new/56% old. The next drain and fill only gets an additional 14% out. After 3 drain and fills, you have about 58% new/ 42% old. If you use the cheaper valvoline on the first couple of fills, you end up with much less old fluid in the car. Please correct my math if I am wrong.

    • @repairvehicle
      @repairvehicle  2 года назад +1

      @@neal8720 , when doing drain and fill there is no wasted fluid. Old fluid out new fluid in. When you drain fluid, you are removing only 1/4 of the fluid from the pan. 4 drain and 4 fill get you about 100% fluid replaced. Mixing Amsoil atf with Valvoline not good idea because you will never benefit 100% from Amsoil atf.
