My favourite boxer ever, no question, was an inspiration to me. Not only his ability but his character too. They don’t make em like that anymore. A true legend. RIP Marvellous Marvin Hagler ❤
He is without a doubt the greatest middleweight of all times ,above monson and Robinson because he stayed in middleweights and dominated ,Robinson moved up and down and partying too much
Hagler destroyed everyone who challenged his middleweight crown and retired most of the his opponents. He was robbed on a few occasions but understood it was better to leave it up to his own hands to do the judging. There will never be another like him. A true warrior and incredible champion. All hail the king of the ring Marvelous Marvin Hagler. RIP Champ
RIP Marvellous One, who always boxed like you were trying to literally take food off his table. He brought it every time. He is one of the greatest of all times because he fought all of the greatest of all times.
Somebody said a while back, that if you fed data into a computer, to produce a perfect fighting machine, the result would be M. MARVIN HAGLER. His physique and presence is perfect, and intimidating. Carved out of polished granite. RIP MMH.
Used to see Marvin, his wife, and kids quite often in N Conway, NH. We’d see him hanging out watching our softball games or just walking through town. He hung out at the bar I worked at and loved to chat with us. He was a great human being with an ego that remained completely in check when out of the ring. Still miss him.
True legend!!! No one came near him as a middleweight although there were many great legends in the middleweight class. He was strong, strong physically, iron chin, can fight southpaw and orthodox. Possessed knockout punch in both hands. Mentally and physically strong man.
What a fighter what a warrior what a boxer , fearless and would stand toe to toe if he had against any man my favourite fight was against Mugabi who was a great fighter himself they both stood and gave everything until Mugabi eventually couldn’t take anymore, I still say he was robbed against Leonard who was the golden boy, outside the ring Hagler was a true gentleman, this man was took from us to soon A TRUE LEGEND
The wrecking machine of his era. Bald head years before it was fashionable, left to grow 2 or 3 days before each fight to rub against opponents in clinches for extra pain and damage. Definitely a guy who maximised every ounce of his magnificent being in pursuit of victory.
it's quite incredible to think, we have actually gone backwards in what boxers are capable of today at the highest level, compared to absolutely dedicated machines like Hagler. Men like him were prepared to die in there.. RIP marvellous marvin.
I think Hagler was the most complete boxer, probably ever. He was a lefty and a righty. He had long, mid or short range skills beautiful boxer, ferocious attacking fighter and also a classic counter puncher. All wrapped up in a style that was very smooth and effortless.
Boxing definitely changed into a more conservative sport. Elites don’t wanna risk it as much as they did back in the day. Which can make for some amazing chess matches, but very rarely do we get a good brawl with high precision like the 20th century.
My favourite boxer too Billy. Even though he destroyed our great hope Alan Minter. Marvelous Marvin had only one direction...forward...take the fight to the enemy! He would fight toe to toe with anyone....never retreating...always coming at his opponent. I'd have loved to have met him. I have such admiration for him. He had the heart of a lion.
He was my favorite boxer! That lunging right hand was absolutely deadly, I remember Hagler vs Hearns like it was yesterday. Great video, it would have been nice to put the opponent's names on screen.
@@johnmc3862 you have hit the nail on the head, waited to fight him after the 2 wars he had against Hearns & Mugabi. Avoided like the plague when he was in his prime…
Man how good was he just the best pound for pound fighter to have ever have lived for me for me he was that good he had a jaw of granite ( I never saw him even wobble let alone go down ) a bullet proof engine he just never stopped and bombs in both hands and a stinging jab he really did have it all never ducked anyone either he’d fight anyone anywhere he was that confident he’d prevail that said he did lose that fight to Leonard and pains me to say so cos as good as Leonard was ( and he was ) hagler was my favourite fighter of all time
Watching Hagler during his reign as champion reminds why my dad was so enthusiastic about fighters in the 40s/50s. We’re fortunate to see great fighters in different decades and those great champions remain the Greatest fighters pretty much all our lives. I enjoyed watching these 🥊 🥊 highlights.
I have been a boxing fan since my grandfather brought me to see Ali vs Frasier 2. I was about 8yrs. old(60now). Bruce lee' Fist of Fury movie was shown before the brand new at the time "Close Circuit" coverage of the fight was shown in movie theatres across the world live. I saw my first "Boob" in the movie so I was bound to become a huge boxing the rest of my life. I have seen almost every contender and champ in every weight class there has been. Video of old fights from the past and present if I did not see them live. I will tell you this, there may have been great fighters with more "one punch" knockout power or "Boxer-Dancers' that won many decisions, often questionable, dancing and running but Marvin Hagler is the most dominant boxer ever for the longest time. Very seldom did the judges even have to earn their wages for judging a Hagler beatdown. He has never been knocked down(look at the one they called a knock down it was not). I have seen him hit by some of the hardest hitting middleweight legends of his time and of all time for that matter(Hearns, Mugabi, Duran, Hamsha, Enfermo, etc.). He has never been buckled, hurt or even looked in trouble. Punches that would end others night and career for that matter solicit a smile and a counter punch from Hagler. Thats his iron chin, body, WILL and BADASSNESS accounting for that. Offensively, his opponents often wished they would have been hit by a Tommy Hearns or Beast Mugabi one punch bomb early in their fights with Hagler, but the "Marvelous One" seemed to prefer to tenderize his opponents for a while before utterly destroying their body, spirit and soul often sending them to hospitals for days with broken ribs and concussions after leaving the ring they wish they had never stepped in to. He was ass beating machine who was NEVER hurt in over 50 fights taking on the best fighters for 2 decades! Taking the belt from a champ of his legendary status for a sugarcoated show-boating dancing display was a disgrace that almost ruined boxing for me. It was a sad day for real boxing fans that knew boxing and were not just fans of popular showy celebrity fighters, promoters and TV pundits liked to hype-up and cheer for. More importantly, it was the end of a legendary boxing god, it was the last fight of "The Greatest Fighter Ever" Marvin Hagler!
My GOAT. There aren't many who could match his discipline and mental fortitude. His sheer will to win was frightening. A constant switch hitter and devasting KO master.
Marvin Hagler was the greatest MW Champion I ever saw in my lifetime. His iron jaw is as great, or greater, than any MW in history. Covid is damn lucky Marvin couldnt see it......
Hager was (and is) my favorite among the gang of Hearns, Ray Leonard and Duran. I just admired the way he'd corner his opponent and start destroying him.
I'm not a boxer or a fighter. My opinion is that boxing is not just fighting, but it's an art. Everybody fights. A lot of people that are good at fighting box. Great boxers are fighters that have disected and adjusted to their craft. Like a great surgeon.

That Hearns fight was, and still is, the most intense round of boxing I have ever seen.
Agree 100%
Many consider it some of the best round in boxing. That fight started HOT
imo I think Foreman vs Frazier round 2 was crazier than
Not only technically amazing but had so much controlled fierce aggression
