The thing I love about Tommy Hearns is that he has kept his life together. He's not broke, doesn't get in trouble, and he's dressed to the nines at local charitable events around Detroit. A champion inside the ring and a champion outside of the ring. Tommy is the man!
He conducts himself in a way most people should. You give and you get respect. He seems like a good guy too. I’d love to shake his hand, and say, “Dude you are one of my favorite fighters.”
Hearns is one of the greats! One of my favs!! But lets be real, in this day and age, he was basically a middleweight or cruiser weight (6'2' 78 " reach) destroying smaller guys with smaller reach in that welterweight class.
@@alvinjohnson2402 Hearns was able to make 147 with same day weigh ins, and still perform like he did. Today's 147 pound fighters have day before weigh ins, and are actually super middleweights in the ring.
@@darrellpetersen133 that's fair
if you can make the weight the same day you fight, it's not weight bullying
just height bullying but who's gonna stop him😂
Let’s be real HE MADE THE WEIGHT and that’s THAT
The most feared single punch of the 80’s.........thomas Hearns right hand.
Mike Tyson right uppercut
@@Narration___Nation Thomas Hearns right hand >
@@cadereimer6163 no way
@@Narration___Nation NOBODY had a better straight right in the 80s than Hearns. Tyson had a Helluva right uppercut, but Hearns straight right was as bad as they get.
@Milo Janis Hearns also competed at welterweight would loved to see him slug it out with Mayweather Jr
My favourite boxer of all time. I still get goosebumps watching him.
Mine too
That Dennis Andries first knock down is poetry.
That right hand was legendary!
The GREAT Thomas “the hit man” Hearns!
One of my favorite fighters in the history of boxers Hit Man
Hearns threw the best right hand ever he literally uses his waist so good!!👌🏼🥊
The punch hearns hit Duran w would have taken out a heavyweight
Hearns is by far the hardest hitting non heavyweight in boxing history. He dropped bombs.
Julian Jackson had the same kind of lightning bolt power. Look up Julian "The Hawk" Jackson. I'd say Hearns and Jackson are most definitely in the upper echelon of non-heavyweight bombers.
@@Resistculturaldecline agreed. I’m down with the Hawk.
@@Resistculturaldecline and Golovkin? that guy has super heavy hands several boxers have said it Rosado said a Golovkin punch is like being hit with a baseball bat.
@@tomascabj7722 Golovkin does hit hard, but imo doesn't shut people off like some the heavy bombers of the past. GGG is maybe my fav boxer of the past 10 yrs.
ruclips.net/user/shortsTnl_oMQeosc?feature=share
And Duran was legendary for the abuse he could take.
@@tomascabj7722 ggg? Doesnt come close
Hearns KO of Martin Lawrence should have been # 1
The fastest hands of anyone
One of the greatest of all time.
One of my favorite fighters of all time
What a fighter lethal puncher great guy
Great video keep it up 👍👍🔥😊
Bazooka nailed Duran into oblivion
Wow. Roberto Duran. That was just scary.
It's not just strength,it's the speed and velocity on a punch....hearns_ punches were like missiles
Hearns was th only fighter to have Knocked out Duran. Cleanly. No TKO, pure KO
Dude had some lightning quick punches.
Growing up in Detroit, the hitman was it.
Once Hearns got the range right where he could fully extend his reach & shots landed, it often didn't take long before it was over.
Thomas the hit man hearns. Superb boxer superb fights superb entertainment. We were spoilt in the 1980s ,so many fantastic fights between welterweight / middleweight. Benitez duran hagler duran and leonard.
Unlucky for George forman that Ali was around ' unlucky for hit hearns that Hagler and sugar ray were around 😊
Holy sh!te, that was quite the ear rape at the beginning. Was not prepared for that 😂
A boxer who can take out Duran like this can really hit.
The best ever
The Dennis Andries fight is interesting.
Hearns won the light heavy title(175) and then moved back down to 160 to fight Roldan and Barkley which is a tough thing to do. I know Tommy wanted that 160 title but he should have moved up to 168 or 175 after beating Roldan. There were some interesting fights he could have had at the new 168 lb class(Murray Sutherland). If I was Hearns management I would have avoided Barkley altogether.
Emmanual Steward was so impressed with the way Andries kept getting up he wanted him as a sparring partner in the Kronk gym to test the toughness of his fighters.
Perhaps the best right hand ever, and he broke on Hagler's insanely hard head. Hagler only stopped for a split second then went forward as if nothing had happened. That's when I knew Hearns was dust in that one. Anyone who takes a Hearns right like that has an epic best-ever chin.
There was no way hearns. Hitman was going to get inside hagler SET MIND. a sledge hammer wasn't going to get into marvelous... well you saw the blood pouring from his face... determination at it's best gentleman... although Tommy did cataputate Duran head shot.. like no other knockout.. dropped him... 6:00
After Artur, yes. He was a menace.
I think Tommy would have destroyed Pacman easily. He was the Ultimate warrior of his time!
When you see how Hearns right hand just depleted so many boxers and yet he hit Hagler with about 14 of those missiles and lost. Just strange
He broke that devastating right hand in the first round v Hagler. Maybe lost a bit of sting because of that.
@@lindsayhunter2897 Nope Hagler was just better!
He broke his hand when he did hurt Hagler who had an amazing chin, and then the result was inevitable, Hagler was tougher anyway.
Hagler may have been stunned, not hurt, for like half a second lol. Hagler's chin was epic. Never buckled, never even close to going down his whole career. @@mizofan
One of the greatest hitters in boxing.
Accurate lighting and powerful punches
The only thing is he didn’t have such a great chin
Right. He had a decent chin, probably a bit better than average. If he had Leonard's chin, Thomas Hearns would be the greatest fighter that ever lived
Not often the case, but the music made the video better.
Do you know what it is? Thought the same
He was the greatest!
Duran was game. Until he wasn’t. Hearns and astounding example of hard work, physical talent and deep determination.
ARTIST!
He was a bad man. The length of a heavyweight and the speed of a fly weight in a welter/middle body
🙏
Dude is a beast
the 2nd KO of Duran was a beautiful punch. right on the chin of Duran and he was out. HITMAN Tommy Hearns.
Still my favorite boxer ever! The Motor City Cobra!
Devestating right hand, he had ⚡️
Legend
Hitman would have killed Mayweather
Man, with that speed, strength and REACH he could just throw bombs from that 78" reach, and his opponents couldn't get at him. Wow...
The Shular knockout was Hearns best. Great right hand against Duran but Duran was a fat lightweight and he wasn't out cold. Shular was a top Middleweight who had beat James Kinchin in eliminator. Shular was out cold from the right Hearns landed. Never moved for minutes.
Not to mention those loud bodyshots Hearns was landing to set up that legendary "chopping" right. Couldn't tell me those previous sparring sessions with former Kronk gym mate/future ATG Mike "Body-Snatcher" McCallum didn't pay off in the end (lol)...
"I don't wanna fight no more "-- Martin Raw Dawg Payne
@2:27 there was a punch while he was bent over.
When Tyson came along there was a lot of discussion how his punches actually sounded different to most heavyweights. But when watching Hearns vs Cuevas, I heard a sound I’ve never heard in boxing before or since. After Cuevas was knocked senseless by that first right, Hearns’ finishing right sounded like the crack of a whip. It hit so hard and so fast it didn’t make the traditional “thudding” sound-it sounded almost like a pistol shot. Ouch…
The motor city cobra
Video is great but turn the background music down brother! A bit too much
One of those fighters who's chin would never be able to take the power of his own punches.
4:30 dafuq is that referee cou ting him out for!? I was watching to see if the chest was even rising.
Anyone who calls Floyd Mayweather the best welterweight of all time please explain how a guy who got mauled by a gatekeeper like Marcos Maidana or wobbled by Shane Mosley would last more than 5 rounds with the freakishly tall & ridiculously strong Tommy Hearns.
Tommy would have been a nightmare for mayweather. mayweather's style was perfect for Tommy. And I don't consider either one of them the greatest welterweight. But Tommy was far closer to the top than floyd ever thought of being.
@@constantine7382 Sugar Ray Robinson is considered the best welterweight with Henry Armstrong a close second. Talk about another nightmare scenario for Mayweather. If Jose Luis Castillo arguably beat him in the first fight imagine Mayweather fighting the human windmill who never got tired and knocked out 25 people in a single year like Homicide Henry Armstrong.
@@georgejackson4426 I have Robinson as the second greatest FIGHTER of all time but he was UNBEATABLE at welter. Just an insane man. The best welter ever.
Oddly enough, you mentioned Armstrong. I have him as my third greatest ever and if welter had been his natural weight, he may have been better than Robinson in that division..
Personally, I see no argument in saying Castillo beat mayweather. I think it was clear. And your absolutely right. Armstrong would have gotten on him and never let up. floyd had trouble with guys like that. I think Armstrong stops him in a fight that wouldn't really be that close.
@@constantine7382Funny I have Robinson and Armstrong at 1 and 2. Just curious as to who you have at number 1.
@@bobbywise2313 We are VERY close. I have Greb, Robinson and Armstrong, in that order. Really can't go wrong with any of them at number one.
Away from this myth. What is the name of this music?🔥
I don't think mayweather has watched and of tommys fights lol
His digs stop them in there tracks man
Genial pero..como se llama la canción de fondo?
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
The music is too loud and distracts.
I’m here because of Martin
hearns better than bud Crawford
Where's the Martin Lawrence fight? LMAO
LMAO 0:43 legs shook
Tommy era un pegador pero cuando le pegaban a él también se iba a la lona y agarraba toda la cuenta
Kill the music in this video
Hearns right is on par with Joe Louis right.
Hearn's, Hagler, Sugar Ray Leonard and Duran were the best Era 👍👍
How could Hearns not win over Hagler
He accepted the war with Hagler.
I’m still upset he lost!
Hearns is one of the best boxers ever, but he tried to just fight hagler, and one does not simply knock out hagler
The “Hit Man”. Great fighter. Miss the 80’s. Best boxing ever!
Hearns broke his right hand in the 1st round of that fight
Newton's second law of motion states that F = ma, or net force is equal to mass times acceleration, This has been renamed Hearn’s Law of Where TF Am I?
Here bc of ippo
So would Hagler
Yeah, play 3:36 !
Fast, slow it went over his head. Fix.
Motor City Cobra
Big puncher, weak chin, working with tooth pick legs. Still a hall of famer.
Great video ruined by noisy, unnecessary background music.
I think I could have taken Tommy out
You don’t make a highlight video with loud music genius, it completely ruins it.
Floyd mayweather surely would have won 😂😂😂 but please hahaha.
Floyd would have beat Hearns Floyd would never get hit by those wide wild punches.
My God, Floyd style was made for Hearns nd after that jab wen the right hand landed it was lights out. Mosley badly hurt Floyd nd dnt even hit half as hard as Hearns.
A Duran el mexicano lo mató Jaaaaa
