Stacking is like Rubik's magic. There's one optimal strategy that everyone employs, leading to an speed optimization game. It's by far a lot less interesting than figuring out a solution on the fly (inspection + lookahead) and doing it as fast as possible.
I would say one reason that the record has less attention is because 1.392 doesnt seem like an incredibly fast time for a WR. Back then when G4 timers are used, the WR is 1.325. 1.392 has been the fastest on the web in 2013, so its a time that is possible 11 years ago. Sure it is obvious that the popularity of speedcubing is increasing with the rate more than stacking, but stacking still has its relevance. I wont say stacking is finished, but I would say its starting to reach the human limit, and compared to speedcubing it just has less variations. I could still be wrong though, so maybe see you in like 5 years lmao
I disagree honestly, stacking involves you to master hand-eye coordination, forces used and areas of cup placement, timer starts and stops etc, and there are techniques involved just like speedcubing in some sort of way. Sure it doesnt have look ahead but it still is a sport where practicing is incredibly crucial in order to master. However it is obvious that stacking is starting to reach the human limit in speed, as the time trend kinda slow down and stopped at some point. I could still be completely wrong about this though, but we'll see I guess
@@necrolord5799 yes true, so it does differ from cubing, but as you get faster your style can make yourself new mistakes/weaknesses that you would eventually also need to fix
