John was a very cool guy and was treated badly that guy had guts and Baxter was awful to him and wasn't even insured properly. BBC should be ashamed of themselves. The fact he did all of those things shows his dedication to the programme.
I was a teenager during the 70s John was a was a hero and a role model to me now I think of it , although I didn’t realise it at the time , a brave guy who had a go at anything, I always enjoyed Blue Peter when he was part of it , he wil be fondly remembered by a generation of Boomers
Purves (Pronounced Purvis!), not Peter Pervs.. oops! I will never forget John Noakes and his tearful announcement when Shep passed away.. unusually he let his vulnerability be shown on TV.
A big Part of my childhood.
Respect to John. What a brave bloke.
I was brought up with John Peter and Valerie and loved them all god bless them and RIP John you were a true gentleman
An amazing guy , he was cutting edge , I loved watching him because he was so genuine. He was a massively under used talent !

I know that they took Sheps funding away but why did John not still keep him?

Biddy Baxter behaved appallingly to many BP presenters. She was a monster.
Yes. A fine man but I thought he was taking the piss when he wanted Shep to be paid for by the BBC. A dog hardly breaks the bank does it?
