Very good tips in general but as someone who wore heels for ages and now pays the consequences with very painful bunions, I would say you need to stay clear of pointed shoes as these will give you A LOT of pain and will make the bunions worse :'(
I am about 6’2 with my favorite platforms. 5’9 without heels. I’ve embraced the height- it’s elegant and regal, though this view has taken some time. All in all, the air is very quality up here, and just because the majority of the world is directionally challenged, doesn’t mean you ever have to try to stoop down to fit in. Hold your head up high girl/ all tall women.
My favorite flats are the classic black, or camel suede pointy ballet flats! Oh, and I looove the new slip on flats with the square toe for casual wear! Some of them are in pretty Chic styles now! ❤️🙌
Very well done, really useful tips. After some broken toes and capsulitis, I am limited to ugly orthopedic shoes. But you have inspired me to try again to find something at least reasonably stylish for days when I am not walking much.
Thank you for making this video! Due to an injury I cannot wear heals anymore, and have only been wearing a supportive running sneaker. Thank you for demonstrating more fashionable flat shoe options!
Once again, thank you Frederique, you are the little voice in my head when I walk into a room full of “fashionable” people, this voice telling me, “you are fine wearing this”, Frederique said so, be confident. It really happens all the time now and I suddenly smile and forget my appearance and have a great time.
Frédérique, your channel has become one of my favorites!! Your style, your personality and humor, and your fashion advice is on point!! Congratulations on the growth of your channel, and I wish you continued success! Love from Georgia, USA! 🥰
Great video. I had foot surgery that did not go as planned, so now, I can only wear flats or very low heels. I got some great tips from this video. Thank you, Frederique!
@Angel...I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and have had both feet operated. Now my next surgery will be for a huge bunion on my left foot😡😢😱so heels of any kind are a no for me💖
Frederique you have inspired me so much! I went back to wearing heels after many years of flats !! I definitely feel more feminine in my heels ! You make such a difference to my day THANK YOU !!❤
Thank you for your videos, they are always great, as a minimalist I love your wardrobe. You did lots of outfits today, which has helped me broaden my ideas, as I tend to usually have only one colour in one style, but seeing your different coloured wide pants today has shown me how limiting I have been. Thank you so much for inspiring me and teaching me, lots of new styles and options. Mid 50s , Brisbane. European living down under too. ;xxx
I have one pair of heels.. for weddings only.. and I have a LOT of shoes. I’m far too klutzy for heels every day! I have 4 pairs of cute, casual canvas runners (sneakers) that I love in the summer.. with shirts, skirts, and jeans. In the cooler weather I have a *few* (cough) pairs of flat knee-high boots, and booties. Love them!
I love my gold leather ballet flats! The leather has little cut-outs so they’re practically sandals, but really comfortable and they have great arch support, too. I wore them almost exclusively for the past 5 or 6 summers; it’s time to replace them but I don’t want to let them go haha! I’ll have to do some serious shopping to find their equals…
Thanks for this great video! As for my favorite style, I keep looking for a Chanel-type cap toe sling back flat or low heel. As for slides vs. flip flops, I love the look of slides, but they require gripping with the toes to stay on my feet, throwing off my gait. Same is true for some flip flops, but not all. I have a pair of platform flip flops that have great arch support and were designed by a podiatrist to help with plantar fasciitis and neuromas.
Thank You ! Great styling tips! My go-to flats are the pointy-toe ballerinas as they're the most versatile and go with just about any outfit, and I have them in a few different colours. In the AW season I love ankle boots with tights, leggings and skinny pants.
I used to love Tieks (I still own about 20 pairs 😳😳😳); however, as you mentioned, some ballet flats have no support. Tieks have no support at all. So now, I've moved onto Rothy's. They have slightly more padding, but what I love the most are the points. I now prefer the pointy look over the rounded. Thanks for these wonderful videos!!!
Tamaris shoes are great. I bought two Chanel inspired ballet flats from them. Also two pairs of sandals and a pair of trainers. All of them look equally cute with pants or skirts. They are all very comfy.😄
This was extremely helpful. I’ve not been able to wear heels at all and the flat shoes are so frumpy if you don’t know how to wear them. Your tips are exactly what I needed. 👍
My fav flats: Hermes oran sandals in brown leather that goes with everything in summer. In winter, black Gucci loafers. I even have a pair of slip on Gucci loafers with fur trims.
An ongoing knee issue means heels are out for me these days. Loafers and ballet flats, with arch support are good, though I am struggling to find something that I can wear with dresses for evenings out. Maybe the pointed ballet flats though...? They looked lovely. Thank you so much!
I love your videos Frederique...!! You totally cracked me up when you talked about people scooting along in their flip flops! YES YES YES!! I agree!!! Drives me crazy too! I want to say, " pick up your feet, please!", but of course I don't....haha! Yes, be like a gazelle! You are so funny. Love to hear your accent!! Thank you for ALL the classic style tips!! ❣️❣️❣️
Another helpful post! I worn stilettos for decades. Now with arthritis in my feet that is a a big, fat Nope! I adore my Bandalino golden bronze slim loafers and wear them constantly. I couldn't find them for a few years so now I just bought 4 pair of them and one in a medium tobacco color. Except for weddings etc. I wear them whenever l leave the house. I have worn this style/color since the 1990s!! Also love sexy sandals as you showed. Thanks!
Wonderful videos on both heels and flats!! And thank you so much for the tip about cleaning the shoes with old stockings- - great idea!!! So glad to see you share the same thoughts about shoes as I do- - and especially the love of kitten heels!! I would like to see more shoe shops feature them. Thanks for ALL your helpful videos!! ❤
Amazon has a gel type insert for the back of the heels of your slip on shoes. I have very narrow heels and when I wear a slip on shoe they never fit ,unless I put the gel inserts in them. It prevents any blisters and is so comfortable and cushioning. They come in a pack of many of them for all shoes
Thank you so much for your videos, you have inspired me so much when I’d pretty much given up on being a classy 57 yr old! My favourite in the summer are Australian Gumbies, they last for ages, go in the washing machine, great for the planet as made from recycled tyres .
My most versatile pair of shoes are are plain black loafers. I have to walk a distance from my car to the building where I work. In the winter, I wear a moto boot instead, for comfort and protection from the elements.
I am loving the new metallics- I just got some new Sperry's in pink with gold laces and a bit of gold leather detail- then got a Lands End totebag with rose gold straps and bottom. It's autumn here but I don't care! :)
I love how the flats have evolved from the old ballet style in the 70’s and 80’s….. a lot are stretchy on top and are made from recycled plastic bottles 👍👍 - round, square and pointy toe, so many colours the range has come along way
I had a hip replacement @ 72..it was amazing but I could never wear heels with confidence again. I wore 5-6 inch heels every day of my life..I could run, jump, cook etc & my inner woman has never been completely happy since I could no longer wear them...but they are still in my closet. ❤
Same I used to love high heels shoes until I broke my ankle, I was forced to let go of my collection. But I can get away with 1 to 2 inch heels and it looks more elegant I find. I am also starting to see it more often in stores. So I have decided to start a collection of those. 😊 shoes that are to flat are not good either.
Loafers, ballerinas with rounded toe (more comfortable then pointed), leather scrappy sandals and little white/ beige/grey sneakers are my favorite👍🏽❤️
Thank you so much for this video. Knee surgery in my future keeps me from wearing my heels. Your comparison pictures were super. It really emphasized your points. One day I may wear my heels again, but until that time, thanks for your helpful suggestions.
Love navy sneakers, loafers, almond toed nude low heels, white sneakers, black or tan sandals or my favourite green suede sandals with low heel, slides
I usually wear flat or low-heeled pointed closed toe mules -- the ones that look like pointed ballet flats in the front but have the open comfort of slip shoes. I especially like the "rubberized" versions that look like stylish leather mules but are made almost entirely of the same material as the rubber in hiking sandals.
Love a flat slip on in summer. I wear Madrid Birkenstock sandals. They are only one thinner strap. So much more flattering than the double ones and easy to style with shorts and pants. 😊
How do you walk in these? I have 2 pairs & they're gorgeous, but I can't do more than grocery shopping next door with them. I always feel like I'm losing them & my toes are holding on for dear life 😵💫
@Anne Cober - a buy the narrow which fit me well and also buckle them near the end. Maybe I’m used to navigating them on my feet? I honestly don’t know how people wear those toe flip flops without falling out of them 😂
I also have a pair of black and white converse all star ballet flats that I love to wear in the warmer weather. They wash so easily. I add an insert for more comfort.
Bonjour Frederique! My favorite flat shoes: silver sequins flip flops, red cap quilted ballerinas, purple loafers, black ballerinas with off white embroidered flowers, black and nude Chinese shoes with embroidered red roses, black Chinese shoes with embroidered purple rose, silver metallic flats, gold metallic flats with big rhinestones, Wonder Woman hightop Van's sneakers, biege straw flats with embroidered flowers. Why? Stylish and comfortable. Love you! 🥰 XOXO
Frederique, thank you for your flat shoes recommendations, but most importantly, for what not to wear with them and the clothing remedies/foundamentals/basics that one should know when wearing a flat shoe!
I am 5ft my favourite shoes are brogues, loafers, ankle boots , and leather sneakers. Not really a Sandell girl. A low heel on occasions as I have a foot injury. Thankfully there are lovely flat shoe styles now. Thank you Frederique… 🌟🍒
My favorite loafers are Anne Klein black with tassels. When one pair wears out, I have replaced with same. I also like Sketchers for walking my dog. I will invest in some sling backs and a pair of leather trainers. Great suggestions.
Bonjour Frédérique, my favorites are men-style lace up shoes like brogues or Chelsea boots in the winter. I prefer them to loafers. For summer, sandals all the way.
I love sneakers, and following your example, I could try to find beige ones. Loafers are also great, but in this Nordic climate I use Dr Martens often as well. Fall, winter, and spring are challenging for footwear and being stylish :-D. Nordic cold seasons are very different animal than winters in southern Europe for example.
Bonjour Frederique, I love your channel and learn so much from you. My feet are wide also and I've got a bunion😢so wondering how comfortable you find the Vivaia pointed toe flats? They are so beautiful and so many pretty colors, I just don't want to be disappointed with the fit. Merci!
I have started wearing high hills in my late 40s and loving it. Of course, I don’t wear them all day and have a spare pair with me if anything happens. Thank you for sharing!
My sister fits this category perfectly! She wore heels since 18yrs old and now can't wear flats with any heel. She suffers from incredible amount of pain, and aches a tough cookie. Sadly for her, she must wear a medical shoes (crazy expensive!) or she'll suffer the consequences. I vary my heel and shoe style so Thankfully I don't have that problem, where she mostly wore heels at work and walked quite a bit.
I'm like your sister. I started much sooner, at 13. Back then, 5 cm heels, and by 16, I was wearing 8-10 cm classic heels. I don't own a single pair of flats. Even my sneakers and slippers have a 5 cm minimum wedge. But now, I'm old, lost my feet fat pads. And spent 3 years at home. The thought of never being able to go back to my heels makes me want to cry...
@@dammar117Loss of foot fat pads really sucks. Who would have thought fat was so important? But there are some exercises that help improve the very thin layer of muscle under the skin. That helps keep some of the pain away.
@@lesleymcneill1403 I always tell people my feet are the only skinny thing on my body. I started doing exercises for bunions and flat feet. I did retail and then hair. I did not wear heels or ill fitting shoes much. Now, I went to the forgot doctor and he said I have a blood clot in the bottom of my foot.
The ballet flats work at the no heels days!!!! I try to change during the week the height of my shoes, from high to low, to rest my feet (a little bit). A salty foot bath helps too.
OK, I need to see which you recommend. It is not just one's musculo-skeletal system that suffers. When in business, quite frankly it distracts from your being taken seriously as a professional for you to wear anything (overly high heels that are hard to walk briskly in, dangling jewelry that may even make a lot of noise, colors too brightly girlish like hot pink, too much make-up) that gets everyone in a meeting or presentation focused on it, not what you are saying or showing them on PowerPoint. Love the choices you made for various activities, events. And thank you for giving us contacts where we can shop for them. Oh, slip-on shoes are what we would call mules, if they were bedroom slippers. But, I believe the style is called mules, at least, here for slip-into shoes.

Thank you all the same yore fashion tips, seem easey.
Starting to watch your channel not to long ago and love all your tips!
Thank you so much for your time!
Frederique. Can you give advice to women that wear skirts and dresses but don’t wear trousers with flats for business and leisure. Thanks
Frederique. ..Please consider giving advice on what style of trousers to wear if you have thick thighs and how to dress to disguise them.
Very good tips in general but as someone who wore heels for ages and now pays the consequences with very painful bunions, I would say you need to stay clear of pointed shoes as these will give you A LOT of pain and will make the bunions worse :'(
Wear shoes that are shaped like feet. Pointy shoes make bunions.
I'm 6ft tall and very clumsy. Wearing heels has always been difficult for me. I always wear flats.
And difficullt to find! I feel for you.
Ok, but I’m jealous! I would do anything to be 6 feet! I’m 5’2.
Julie :
Only because you're not 6' - not all plus..... I'm also 6' tall and have been since about 14 yo.

Ballet flats forever! Specially the pointed toe ones. In neutral colors, made of leather for their longevity and pliability.
Congratulations on your recent success. Love the flat shoe video.
I love Anne Klein pointed flats . They have a little rubber bottom that cushions your foot . I buy them at Marshalls and TJ Maxx .
My favorite casual flat is backless, slip-on tennie. The inner sole is memory foam. Very comfy!
Leather sandals are great for wide feet. Yes leather always, but also because of less pressure points than many shoes.

Love all your videos Frederique. Can I ask the make and where you bought your jeans. Thank you
Love navy sneakers, loafers, almond toed nude low heels, white sneakers, black or tan sandals or my favourite green suede sandals with low heel, slides
Finally! Thank you for responding to this. I cannot wear heels at all, ever! Not just a preference rather a foot issue.

Everlane V-slingbacks. I have them in black woven leather, black suede, and blush woven leather. My very favorite shoes I've ever owned 💘

yeaaah and look stylish too..not clunky like the regular ones

The ballet flats work at the no heels days!!!! I try to change during the week the height of my shoes, from high to low, to rest my feet (a little bit). A salty foot bath helps too.
Awesome tips 👌 . Thanks Frederique 💕

I still love some great oxfords or chunky lace ups.
Flip-flops, UGH. My favorite pet peeve. Beach wear only, going to, coming from, or on it, or in the backyard
I like my leather shoes in metallic colours. Especially my bronze and silver ones.
They bring a chique touch 👌
