The military cannot be constrained or their operations determined by the existence of hostages if they are going to accomplish their mission and reduce casualties. Special forces may be able to save some hostages, but the assumption must be that they are dead. The tunnels must be destroyed, they should be flooded, again to reduce military casualties.

I'm for a free Palestinian Territories or a one state with full and equal citizenship rights for all its citizens. However, Mandela didn't target civilians. Of course, freedom struggles are often won after at least some violence unfortunately. However, the kind and intention of it matters greatly. George Washington was praised and respected in his own day and in history for treating the British military and British Loyalist civilians fairly and mercifully. Many Patriots didn't behave this way but Washington did and this was important in helping to create a more stable and prosperous U.S. than say what happened after the French Revolution. The FR descended into bloody violence after different factions accused each other of treachery.
So, we need to think about getting peace through the most peaceful means possible. Obviously, the U.S. must start demanding greater Accountability from Israel. If Israel wants U.S. support then it should have to comply with conditions conducive to creating a lasting peace.🕊🕊🕊🌎🌼🌼🌼🦉

So the Palestinians have the upper hand. A few hostages and the Israelis will put them above the nation's interest.
What makes this different is that it shows the Israelis do not have much courage when hit hard. Their self confidence has crumbled. When a sufficient number are killed and they cannot win, they will negotiate.

I was shocked when Netanyahu chose bombing first over rescuing hostages. I can’t think like a terrorist, but perhaps if he had put saving hostages and negotiating prisoner release, most of which are imprisoned without charge inc kids, the hostages would be home now. Israel could’ve then planned strategic attack. When you strike with emotions first, both sides lose (and I’m talking about all innocent people on both sides).
