Welcome to another Paint with Me video. I’m still in the phase of trying out other brands of watercolor paper so I purchased a 9” x 12” block of BAOHONG Artist Cold Press Watercolor Paper. I decided to paint a fun, colorful pansy bouquet with watercolor inks to test out the paper.
One thing I immediately noticed about the BAOHONG paper is that it has the most texture of all the cold press watercolor paper I’ve used so far. The texture is good for dry brushing, but it also meant that my brush strokes would occasionally catch on the paper and create more jagged marks than intended. Just something to get used to with this paper! (Also, I went back to my purchase history at some point and noticed that the paper is labeled as "TEXTURED" Cold Press--which is something they do point out. According to the product description: "COLD-PRESSED finish has a light texture surface but provide strong scrub resistant, allowing for a variety of watercolor techniques.")
I've only used two sheets of my BAOHONG block so far, so this is just my initial impression of the paper.
As always, grab a cup of tea or coffee and enjoy. Thanks for being here!
