The details of the veins in the leaves and the shadows really bring these to a different level. Thanks for the great tips!
I just love your tutorials! I have learned so much from watching them. Thank you, Kristin!
Thank you. I live in Eastern Canada and the leaves are in colours right now. Love how coloured them. Beautiful and inspiring.
Such a fantastic tutorial! You are so generous with your talent! Thank you❤️
Hey Kristin loved the fall leaf painting and the shadow really looks so great on them. Makes them pop instead of being so flat. The second leaf you painted with the round edges is an oak leaf. The last one you painted. All so beautiful thank you for sharing. Here in uk the fall colours are looking really good. Enjoy your day 🙌
Thanks so much for your feedback! 💕🍂
You beat me to it. I was about to say oak leaf 🙃
Fantastic leaves. Great colours. Your tip is very useful to know. Thanks so much.
I’ve been going mad with painting autumn leaves! Thank you for sharing your technique and even how you do the colours. It’s all fascinating!
Thank you. And your leaves are beautiful .
This is a great leaf tutorial! The colors are beautiful!! Thank you!
Thanks so much 😊
The shadows really make them pop! I struggle with shadows.
That is a wonderful trick, thank you so much for sharing it with all of us, I can't wait to try it. 🍂🍁
You are so welcome! Thank you for watching 🍂
Amazing great tutorial ,and the combination of colors so beautiful love it 🍁🍂🌱

Thank you so much!
❤ THEY ARE JUST GORGEOUS WOW THANK YOU DARLING 😊
Thank you! This is beautiful
Thank you so much 💕🍂
Kristin, excellent tutorial! I can’t draw like you but I have some large fall leaf stamps that I’m going to stamp, fussy-up, and trace them with a pencil. I will divinely try this technique! From a fellow-Arizonan! 😊🌵🐾
Great idea!
I loved this video, the colors you painted the leaves is stunning! And I love your little trick~I am going to try my hand at painting a fall leaves painting this afternoon. I hope my turns out as pretty as yours. I haven't painted in quit a long while. By the way, the leaf that you sketched that you loved so much, is an Oak tree leaf. To be more specific, as there are around 600 known species of Oak trees worldwide, with about 90 known species that grow in North America, the leave you sketched is a Swamp White Oak leaf. Although there are several other species of Oaks that also have rounded lobed leaves, such as, White Oak, Bur Oak, Oregon White Oak, Post Oak, and Chestnut Oak, just to name a few. In fact, all White Oaks have rounded lobes, and all red Oaks have pointed lobes. This trait (pointed or rounded lobes) distinguishes which of the two types of Oaks you may be looking at. Which is helpful when trying to identify a specific species, as it eliminates half of the possibilities. But the Swamp Oak is the only White Oak that I know of, that grows in the U.S., that has asymmetrical lobes. While there are a few oaks with leaves that do not have lobes, all of the leaves are generally symmetrical around a clear median line. That is why I am pretty certain the leaf you sketched and painted, is a Swamp Oak leaf.
Ooh, nice trick! Will try it, thank you for sharing!
Hi Kristin
Many thanks for a great tutorial. I loved it. I so enjoy Autumn. Hugs from Ireland
Lovely informative tutorial ! Thank you.
I loved this.🍁🍂❤️
Just found you and subbed! Great tutorial. Can't wait to try this technique. I'm new to watercolor but its quickly becoming my favorite medium.
Thank you so much! Using fallen leaves to trace sounds like the perfect idea
Living in the Midwest all my life - love the fall colors of the leaves and the technique you share here. I love using it for background trees (adding branches or hints of branches). And fyi: The rounded edge leaf is an oak leaf 😍. They are common here in Iowa.
Looking forward to doing this project. I am in Vermont & have been collecting lots of 🍂🍁I'm not good at drawing symmetry so I'm going to trace the leaves. 😊
I loved watching this video. You have a nice relaxing voice and way of painting. I have been following you on Instagram and just subscribed today to your RUclips Channel. I see it as a constant in my future viewing. Thank you for sharing your inspirations and processes.
Thank you for the demonstration of one of your "favorite tricks". I know it works because I have used that "trick before. I also have used watercolor pencils with very sharp points to draw the veins when the watercolor base is still wet to damp.
Ooooh that’s a great tip!
P.S.- Did someone make those fabulous dishes for you? They are GORGEOUS!
These beautiful pottery pieces are from “pottery by Eleni”
I zeroed right in on those beautiful dishes and did a search by image! Beautiful pieces. That particular travel size palette is $99 so instead of making an impulse purchase which I had to fight off I decided to make my own at the studio near me!
❤❤❤ these
❤ love this ty

Your bottom left leaf is an oak leaf, the tree has acorns, which squirrels eat x. Uk

You’re from AZ!!! Do you ever do in person classes? I’m on the west side!
I'm in East Valley and would attend a class:). I'm semi new to watercolor, especially in the dry dessert. Would find a lesson from you invaluable:)
I’m in the east valley, but I have plans to do more in person workshops this coming year! Stay tuned 💕🍂
Elinize sağlık, lütfen çok başındayım nerden başlamam gerekiyor?
I have a few videos linked on my page that help you get started with the basics 💕
@@kristinvanleuven Tamam teşekkür ederim, bulmaya çalışacağım, yaşım biraz ilerledi de 🫣❤️
Third leaf is an oak
I’m a person who needs a traceable! Would you be willing to add one that we can print?
I’m not sure how I can do that, BUT something that helps is printing off pictures of leaves and tracing them directly onto your paper. I hope that helps!
Maybe trace real leaves?
I pause the video and trace off my phone ... ipad... whatever 🎉
👍👍👍💕💕💕🇩🇰
I really wish you wouldn’t go so fast or do speed up your videos makes it very hard to follow along for newbie 😢
