TSW3 Tutorial Creating a Scenario With The New Workflow

- Time to walk through the new workflow for creating a scenario. It is heaps simpler and more intuitive than what we had in TSW2 and it now really makes loads of sense in TSW3. Take it from someone who builds lots of scenarios... so much better! I'll upload the scenario to Creators Club after TSW3 goes live and I've tested it properly.
Disclosure: I received TSW3 for free from Dovetail Games. Игры
I spend last 16h creating Dresden scenario. I can tell from experience now that only few trains can depart from station to station. Most of them will have departures and arrivals on mid routes and that will trigger huge red signal problems if you will have anything running on same rails. The amount of trains will be very limited on track to be able to run it without red signal issues. I had to start over and over but luckily we have “copy” option. So I add one by one now, go into game, open map and make sure train gets from A to B without clogging the route. It’s time consuming, but I think I even publish this route later under “Rush Hour” name. I was behind some red signals over 30min yesterday, took me time to figure what is going on with it
Generally speaking have only your service in the track you're running on unless you want something in front of you making signals yellow. On the other tracks you can do what you want but time them so they're at or near a place that you are so you see them at or near stations.
Thanks mate, I understand this NOW!!!
Great. Is changed a bit with TSW4 that's just come out.
Thanks for this tutorial.
You're welcome. I'll be creating scenarios on stream live shortly
I dont knows too why i create scenario. Very thanks trainsimulatordriver 👍
@@sekky8584 you are welcome 😃
How do you change the weather settings when creating a scenario? Clearly it not well known as virtually all creator scenarios I've seen have clear weather settings, although it must be possible as I've seen the odd scenario feature fog and rain.
Only DTG can do that. In TSW2 a scenario would run with the last weather chosen for a service run before it. I don't know if TSW3 does that given the weather system has changed.
@@trainsimulatordriver Hi, I downloaded a scenario by Joe, 'The British Ace', just after I posted this comment. He had a scenario with fog. You are correct. If you set the weather on that route in timetable mode and then come out into creation of a scenario it will retain that weather setting. Hopefully Dovetail will add the time of year and weather option to the scenario creator. I also hope they will open up a greater range of starting and end points. It's frustrating that in the GWR route that you cannot access the freight areas
@@MrPhantom1961 that is good to now and I agree on inaccessible areas - I would really like to have all areas of a route able to be used by players with scenario/start stop points available in all yards
What does preview Scenario do (ex shown at 3:58)? Please and thank you
It's just the list of services. It doesn't seem to do anything more. I do wonder if in the future it might do something else.
Can you add parked rolling stock or locomotives to railyards? Normally it starts out completely empty which feels weird. Also how do you have so many locomotives, most of them are not on anywhere on Steam?
You can add parked trains using scenario planner, they're not really parked you just set them to move hours after the player train. This is very limited though. The locos lately come on their own and in routes, before TSW3 they mostly came only in routes. I've got all of them.
@@trainsimulatordriver Can you control them? I mean the parked trains. Also, from what I understood you can't park rolling stock only? It'd look unrealistic if every train on a railyard had a locomotive attached to it waiting like that
@@Groveish yes only complete trains. There's nothing stopping you jumping into any train and driving it but if the system isn't expecting you to do it then it won't have a path so will have red signals
So, I have quite a big problem, which is that none if the services that I create have a driver in it, and so they're not departing. Even though i deselected the "Is contolled by player option". Can someone please help me?
One of them must be player controlled and all the others must be timed to depart at the same time or later than the player service
@@trainsimulatordriver Thank you so much. Now it works
@@thealitaliaa7714 excellent news :)
I have a big problem. I download the right mod. TSW3 but if I go to scenario Is not there. I activate it on the Mod manager but this is still not working. Can someone help me?
@@pantelispaok you might find help on www.trainsimcommunity.com/ and you'll need to be a lot more specific. I can't really help get mods going you'll need the mod maker to support you if they're still around. Curious given TSW4 is only a few bucks in the summer sale right now how come you're still on TSW3?
Can you please tell me why i can't create a scenario for the BR 187? it would really help me out!
You should be able to. Make sure if it's not the home route of the loco that you have "off the rails" ticked. If that's not the issue I'll need more info to be able to help. What route are you trying to add it and what are you trying to do?
@@trainsimulatordriver Thanks for replying! I‘ve managed to figure the Problem out. I had train filters turned on that’s why it wasn‘t showing the locomotive.
@@corrywurst oh good, glad you figured it out :)
Is it possible to make a scenario where you stop at a station and take control of another train? In train sim world 2 it seems to be impossible. It doesn't allow you to take control.
In the time table you can take control of any non moving train that's got a on map destination. I've never tried in scenario planner. I suspect if it works it would be luck not intentional.
Hello Mate,
how do i switch on chrismas lights in open coach arosaline tsw3..i made a scario december, chose open christmas coach but lights are still off in that open coach 😑😑..i just wanted some festive vibe and few screenshots..can anyone please help
There's a switch just inside the coach up the stairs. You can turn on lights and sound.
@@trainsimulatordriver my goodness.. Can't thank you enough 🤜.. You're godsend.. I found this with great difficulty, almost gave up.. What a cheesy place to put those buttons at that place though 😆😂

i'm trying this, the option to choose custom liveries isn't there anymore. Do you know where I can enable it pls?
It's still there in service timetable you can choose the livery for the loco when you choose the train to play
Oh just realised your question is about scenarios, sorry, you can choose the livery there too when you choose the train
@@trainsimulatordriver yes, that's what I meant. There's supposed to be an option to choose which livery you want above the train formations official, personal, creators club, but it's missing like 4:30. Any idea how to fix this, or get custom liveries for custom scenarios?
@@KrazyJake88 there still is - let me knock up a quick video for it - you need to have the liveries made yourself or installed from Creators Club
@@KrazyJake88 take a look at ruclips.net/video/0ou6QYQAUus/видео.html and see if it helps
How do you add screenshots when you upload the scenario in creators club
Take the screenshots in game using the in game screenshot (not platform) they upload to Dovetail Live. When you add to creators club you are shown images from there to select for your content.
@@trainsimulatordriver the in-game screenshots is ctrl f12?
@@feeshyman ctrl-f12 is a local unreal engine screen shot, Dovetail Live is ctrl-f10

I want a certain livery to use for my livery but it wont let me use it
can you help?
The livery needs to be the same loco/ train as the one you've used in your scenario. Create or subscribe to the livery for the train then choose it in scenarios planner. Note that not all trains support this functionality.
@trainsimulatordriver sad I had a BR talent 2 in a elizabeth line livery I made and I made a scenario for the bakerloo line but I can't use my livery
@@arcasey8388 are you trying on off the rails mode for the scenario? I can't see why that wouldn't work?
@@trainsimulatordriver okay so i did what you said enable off the rails were on, i chose the bakerloo line, i selected the DB talent 2 with my livery but still dont work, I dont think you can use a livery for 442 which is sad because i dont know what other train i can use as a class 345
@@arcasey8388 that's not expected, I'm about to go to work I'll try one tonight when I get home
why does it only let you run half route?
I am not sure what you mean Tim?
Hi why when i add some trains in my scenario they don't go from station. No one leave my station. I give them depart past and befor my train. (sorry for my english, I hope you understant), EDIT i think its becouse some of trains have depart befor my train
No trains can be set to depart before the player train. The UI allows it but then the scenario doesn't work as you've discovered. If you want a train to run ahead of your train put it at the next station and depart it at the same time as the player train.
@@trainsimulatordriver thanks for answer. I saw other comments and I got it. Thanks, have good day

How to create and find the livery designer on tsw2
It's under the creators club menu. Gotta ask why are you still on TSW2? The version in TSW2 is quite limited.
@@trainsimulatordriver I know because I just started I’ll get all the variants quickly then go to tsw3 get all variants then go to tsw4 get all variants
@@trainsimulatordriver it says creators club x button below the trains and there is no livery designer it’s at the bottom left
I don’t get it I wish u can help me live
I've done scenario builds live before. You never know your luck.
@@trainsimulatordriver how do you get passengers and start a route
@@You-uo3vn you can't create your own route, to get a passenger service tick the passenger option when adding the train
Are routes free
@@You-uo3vn some are bundled depending on what you bought but mostly you pay for routes. Routes include trains but there are separate train DLC you can buy too
In train sim world 2, after selecting a locomotive, you could choose a livery that you’ve made or one from the creators club. This seems to have been removed? It was my main source of replay ability :( I feel like I’ve just wasted money on this game. I would rather redownload TSW2 so I can actually use my downloaded liverys. Surprised nobody else is complaining about this unless I’m missing the option
You still can in TSW3. Its part of the train choice, after you choose the loco (or train for EMU/DMU) you choose the version (which home route version) and livery.
@@trainsimulatordriver Yes, but you cannot do this when creating a custom scenario, correct? For example, in TSW3, you’re adding a train to the timetable in scenario planner: you choose the path, select the train, and then it’s done. In TSW2, after choosing begin/end/stops and selecting your train, you could then select a livery for the locomotive, and even the other cars in the consist. This is not possible in TSW3, correct?
@@greatmeme I'm sure I've seen scenarios with custom liveries in TSW3, I'm not at my gaming PC right now, I'll look later and get back to you.
@@trainsimulatordriver I really really appreciate it.
@@greatmeme you can still do it, the sequence is to create your service, then "confirm service" next you go into train selection, select the one you want, then select the formation and after you've selected the formation you can select the livery you want to use default or any custom you've got loaded and confirm selection. I cannot see a way to set it for individual cars and I cranked up TSW2 and could not see a way to do it there either. They just turn up randomly (or not) as part of the formation.
This was the worst mistake dove tail could ever make. Wait till u get A scenario that someone created that they purposely made where a the train Isn't set up properly an doesn't move?
getting trolled for 6 hours trying to figure out why the train doesn't move because it was made not to move purposely.
You can't do that with the scenario editor in game. You possibly could do it with the community editor but then it's like any mod. Expect the unexpected I guess. If there's a scenario like that on Dovetail Live can you give me a link?
@@trainsimulatordriver yeah I found one bout week ago I find it and send a link here
