We Malaysians in terms of taste buds are very demanding. If the fried chicken isn’t good, out you go same goes to other fried chicken fast food chains. If u find Texas chicken around, it’s actually Church’s chicken.
@@Reardon_Explores malaysian texas chicken.. the fried chicken, jalapeno bombers and the biscuits are amazing. I like texas's fried chicken better than mcdonalds
Us Malaysians are definitely proud of our food culture, and we hold the same standard for big franchises too. Even our Maggie instant noodles (curry flavoured to be exact) is deemed as top tier, and many Malaysian students even make a fortune selling them overseas whenever they came back after semester break. If the food is bland, it won't sell among Malaysians 😂 and the street food (easiest to find at our pasar malam) or family-run businesses are where you'll find all the best local food.
Maggie Curry had its peak back in 30 years ago where you can smell the curry flavour outside your house when your mom cooks it. Or when you smell that in your house but there's no one at the kitchen you know it must be your neighbour cooking Maggie Curry. Flavour wise it has gone down 70% at least from the taste it should be.
Maggi is a Switzerland brand for those wondering, just a clarification. Dont want to accidentally claim. Same with milo, an australian chocolate drink brand, also very popular here.
@harrow3908 its they brand but for malaysia market its not the same like it here , they developed the taste for malaysian bud is here , if you want the same taste like malaysia versions you have to buy the malaysia versions otherwise it's not the same at all .. like milo , Australia version it's very different from malaysia, malaysia flavor far more better
Friendly reminder, if you dine in at Malaysia fast food restaurant, there's a sauce station in some corner, so you can freely help yourself with it, the most basic sauce are tomato sauce and the chilli sauce, at the KFC there's supposed to have both of them and one addition which is thai chilli sauce which is my favourite 😅,most of the westerner who tried our Malaysian fast food franchise usually complain the food don't have any sauce or too little so would be a help if they would know this information first hand
Ah yes! That is right. Because of how busy it was, I didn't think about grabbing other sauces. Actually, the Chili sauce from Thai McDonalds is sweet too, not spicy at all which is interesting.
@@Reardon_Explores yeah, it's supposed to be sweet & sour and a little bit spicy for that little kick for a chilli sauce, even in Malaysia, different brand of chilli sauce have different taste🤣 some more to the sweet side, some more to the spicy and some may a little salty, so know your brand of chilli sauce in Malaysia are essential actually 🤣🤣, because some of it help to make the dish more delicious
@@Reardon_Explores in the video you're wondering if we dip any when we eat the spicy chicken. yes we dip!!! and we dip in chili sos like it's a must honestly. the chicken foldover you ate, i would have dip the top part that doesn't have the meat with chili sos. or i would have pour chili sos inside the chicken foldover to eat it. actually we almost dip everything with chili sos lmao. like almost a lot of our local food we eat with chili sos. like there's chili sos on maggie goreng mamak, nasi goreng, mee goreng, cekodok/cucur bawang bilis goreng etc.
Malaysia’s McD have a lot of seasonal items offered either during certain festive seasons or throughout a period of time as limited offers (could be more than once within a year). So it keeps everyone always looking into their menu from time to time to see what would pop-up for the day. It’s fun and entertaining and creative as well😊 We take McD’s pie for example. As a Malaysian, Ayam grg ( ayam goreng) means Fried Chicken in Malay ( Bahasa Melayu ). Also we don’t really dip the chicken is anything, but some people do like to dip it in the Sos Cili ( Cili sauce)they give.

GRG short form for ‘goreng’ which is in English means fried. So on the recipt it stated Ayam Grg- fried chicken lahh.btw welcome to Malaysia. Enjoy the food and hv fun.!
Yeah, we normally have the chicken porridge when we're feeling sick or fever, or when we feel a little blue. Grg is the abbreviation for Goreng (Fried). The spicy chicken even taste better than KFC's "Hot and Spicy chicken". I like the fried chicken on it's own. But most would probably dip it with ketchup or chilli sauce. Some of Malaysian love to dip the fries 🍟 into the sundae, it's the hot and cold, salty and sweet combo.
It is a great meal to have sick. Now, I'll be wanting it when I'm under the weather. Hahaha yes! Many people have talked about dipping it in chili sauce, which is so interesting! Woah! Fries in Sundae. You know, this is super famous in the US with the fast food Wendys. We call it "dipping the fries in the frosty". 😂😂

And yet... The McD is the first alternative choice during festive holiday since most local Malay muslim restaurant are closed for holidays (so might be crowded with high volume of customers)
Right! It seems that in Southeast Asia, the locals love it. I think more than Americans do in-terms of visiting the restaurant and sitting there to eat.
Thanks for the review! I’d say if you want to have McDonald’s chicken, enjoy it as a part of the Nasi Lemak Ayam set. I really love the sambal sauce with the chicken, extra kick of spice in my opinion. And to wash it all down, iced lemon tea is the way to go! Cold and refreshing with a bit of a sour note that goes very well with the spiciness of the chicken + sambal sauce. All in all, hope to see you try more Malaysian food and discover our gastronomy delights. Thanks man!
I will do another video just on the Nasi Lemak set. It would be interesting! Malaysia has the best Ice Lemon Tea, I love it! I sure will be there again soon for one more trip before moving on to other countries.
@@Reardon_Explores Even the regular ice tea that you can get at a regular restaurant is a lot like half and half sweet and unsweet tea you can get Stateside (I did spend quite a bit of time in the US). So yeah, try more stuff and you should see our interpretation of "Western food."
Another thing that you should try the next time u hit a Msian McDs is to eat the hot fries by dipping it the McD Strawberry Sundae. It's a polarising thing, some love so hates but I find the Salty hot fries dipped in the cold sweet Sunday quite awesome.

I prefer Mekdi(Mac D) fried chicken.. Chicken foldover only available 1 month a year, during Ramadhan month only.. Mekdi Malaysia have different menu every main festive season in Malaysia, for example during Chinese New Year, there is Prosperity Chic/Beef, oblong burger with sesame bun, black pepper sauce & sliced onion served with twister cut fries & special drink.. There is 3 main festive season in Malaysia, Hari Raya/Aidil Fitri(Muslim), Chinese/Lunar New Year(Buddhist) & Deepavali(Hindus)... Malaysia is one of the most Public Holidays in the world... 🙂
I worked in McD through university, try adding 2 cheese slices to that chicken foldover. I played around with my lunch on shifts and thought I found the best menu over in McD
I saw this video in October, now I crave the chicken foldover. It's one of the best seasonal menu we had. This menu usually promoted in Muslims holy month which called Ramadan or we call it as fasting month. The promo period only last for one month. If you missed the chance to try that time, then need to wait for next year Ramadan.
I thought you'd be ordering nasi lemak McD...my favourite. I still dip my fried chickens in chilli sauce. You are probably not in Malaysia by the time this video is out but you should have done a KFC review also. Oh btw there is also a Mc Cafe usually beside McD, they serve all the hot beverages plus cakes and buns etc.
@@Reardon_ExploresI prefer original KFC chicken but look for the busy outlet, so that their chicken is freshly prepared. It should be moist and juicy😂
I think the porridge got a little bit more salty after you add in the white/black pepper powder. I think that powder has some MSG or salt added in. The porridge is already good by itself, no need to add the powder. This is my personal opinion since the saltiness of the porridge is already good as is. The spicy chicken is also much more spicy than KFC spicy chicken so I can confirm they didn't take the chicken from there. Love your video. It's a balance between talking and ASMR. The black seeds on the wrap bread is chia seeds or quinoa if I'm not mistaken. Glad you had a fulfilling experience eating food here. Sending love from Malaysia.❤

Thanks a lot! I've had Nasi Kerabu during the Ramadan market times. Super tasty but not original as it wasn't in Kelantan. Was in Kota Bharu and Perhentian Islands recently.
The chicken and beef foldover will be gone soon. It's a seasonal menu for Ramadan. 🤤 You can try Nasi Lemak McD with fried chicken, also their pie coz they have seasonal pie (except Apple Pie which is permanent one), also other drinks/juice like Milo or Ice Coffee. Cheers and enjoy Malaysia mate. 🫰🏼
Bubur nasi or rice porridge is meant to be overcooked rice. If it's just rice in soup, we call it nasi air..or literally translated to rice water(means soup)
You should try Ramly Burger. It is being sold by stalls at the roadside. Believe me the taste is superb and far better than any burger in town. When u order try Special Burger (beef + egg + cheese). So far, every of my foreign friends said that is the best burger that they have ever had
You can find videos of me eating Ramly Burgers on this channel. Take a look! I've had the special a few times. I've actually had Ramly Burgers 10+ times aha
On of the reason why Mc D beef or chicken burgers are more delicious is bcoz the animals are required to be slaughtered the HALAL way. There are big differences ....plus the spices had been modified to Malaysian taste. Don't forget that Malaysia is a heaven for Food.
Exactly! I have done some research on the processing of animal deaths to the kitchen. Many foreign cultures (outside of US) have super intriguing theories/ways of processing them have positive effects on the taste of food.
McDonald's: Malaysia have some form of employee motivation, everyone might know, the job is quite terrible, which the contract might cheekily offer depression, but in Malaysia, we take the notes with japan and make the job alot more cheerful, what i see, McDonald's locations are always ought for local in order of hiring the local population of the area, henceforth everyone know each other. So yeah lovely discipline and motivation.
Im glad you enjoyed mcdonalds here! Ayam grg stands for ayam goreng which means fried chicken And the porridge isnt overcooked because we normally cook the porridge for a long time so we get a mushy texture so its easier to swallow when you are sick 😅 Next time you should try their gcb or nasi lemak!
Malaysia fried chicken market is extremely competitive so if you fail to deliver what general public want ie crispy skin with soft and tender flesh some people might buy it but the majority will actively avoid it i always avoid KFC and McDonald fried chicken because their chicken flesh tend to be overcooked
That's interesting! But, I found that the McDonald's chicken was quite good and the skin was cooked to perfection. Mostly in the US, you will find chicken skin to be more fatty and less crispy, which is disappointing!
We add chilli sauce to the chickens that MC d in Malaysia lot of chilli sauce and usually they need to top up few times. Malaysia didn't used frozen chicken that y is juicy..
I really love Malaysia Macdonald it's delicious and Very good 😊 And for your information Grg means Fried/frying 😅 and yup Malaysia Fried chicken is spicy

You should try dip the fried chicken in mcd's chilli sauce. It is tangy, bit spicy & sweet chilli sauce. I try to find any chilli sauce in the market and I can't find any better than mcd's chilli sauce. If I make my own home made beef patty burger, mcd's chilli sauce is the best of them all.
yes.. we dip it in chili sauce. that is normal spicy. there is another seasonal item xtra spicy chicken.. that one i think most foreigner cannot handle

And yet... The McD is the first alternative choice during festive holiday since most local Malay muslim restaurant are closed for holidays (so might be crowded with high volume of customers)
Seems like a wonderful time of the year to spend quality moments with friends & family, and strangers sometimes 😝. Love how lively the city can be!
@@TheOz91 Ah interesting. I will try more on my next trip through the country
AS a Malaysian Its a Pleasure to see our Country Famous this Year 🎉
Yes because Malaysia has some of the best food :)
Another thing that you should try the next time u hit a Msian McDs is to eat the hot fries by dipping it the McD Strawberry Sundae. It's a polarising thing, some love so hates but I find the Salty hot fries dipped in the cold sweet Sunday quite awesome.
Hahaha I have heard some local people do that. It is something similar to what we do in the US at the Wendy's fast food locations.
@@Reardon_Explores we had Wendy's before but they closed all their franchises now. I absolutely love their burgers.. i miss Wendy's 🥲
I love that mango peach drink. At one time i bought 3 and finished 2 at the same time
Hahaha oh my. It is super fresh and light. Love it!
Thank you so much, for visiting my country and trying out the food also when i saw the price i was kinda shocked, here RM60+ is a lot
Ahh yeah, next time I am going to spend less
Tengok lah dia makan apa bang oiii...Rm 60 tu termasuk dia beli utk awek dia sekali...kira standards lah tu makan Mcd utk 2 org... kalau nak murah makan jer ayam goreng pasar mlm tu hahaa
McDonald's is our special place to hang out with friends...and our first thought if we wanna eat something even if we aren't hungry...we glad you like it
McDonald's, KFC, Burger King, etc... has a different atmosphere in SEA than it does in the West. I like it!
Wow that has my mouth watering! So much to learn, see, and experience about Malaysia. Means I need to spend more time there! :)
Yup..only can get it from the festival season..but I can’t forget the spicy korean burger.the burger bun ,black colour but taste so nice🥹
I am very happy to see you enjoying yr msian meal. Msia will keep on surprising u . Enjoy!!
I believe so! Can't wait to explore more!
I worked in McD through university, try adding 2 cheese slices to that chicken foldover. I played around with my lunch on shifts and thought I found the best menu over in McD
Wow sounds tasty! Love cheese, but cheese is expensive in SEA
Yeah that is right! I am glad I got to try it when it was available. For you, only another half year or so 😝
I thought you'd be ordering nasi lemak McD...my favourite. I still dip my fried chickens in chilli sauce. You are probably not in Malaysia by the time this video is out but you should have done a KFC review also. Oh btw there is also a Mc Cafe usually beside McD, they serve all the hot beverages plus cakes and buns etc.
I'm definitely going to go back and do the same for KFC. I had planned on making one, but too be honest, I ate too much everyday 😂
@@Reardon_ExploresI prefer original KFC chicken but look for the busy outlet, so that their chicken is freshly prepared. It should be moist and juicy😂
@@rcBorneo Ah that is true! More busy, the fresher the chicken!
You're so lucky to be able to try the foldover. It's a seasonal thing and only available once a year.
Yeah I got there at the right time :)
@@Reardon_Explores it got sold out at my place so fast and I have to find it at another McDonalds....
Thank you for reviewing Malaysia's McDonald. As a Malaysian I am proud of our McDonald's foods.
You should be. Got it going on good. :)
The next time you come to Malaysia again, you gotta try McDonald’s Spicy Chicken McDeluxe burger, its BOMB!
Ah so many burgers to try from there!
@@Reardon_Explores a MUST try. juicy & spicy chicken in burger
next!
Hope you enjoy your stay in Malaysia !🎉 try out some durian it’s the festival now !
Will do so one day. Not the biggest fan of fruits haha
I'm a new subscriber here❤welcome to Malaysia 🇲🇾
Thanks a lot! :)
Ah maybe! I love black pepper and that's why I added it haha. Thanks for the tips and feedback! :) More to come!
If u shred the fried chicken into pieces then mix into the porridge,it taste heavenly that how i always eat
OMG!! That is a brilliant idea. Sounds quite amazing!
Yeah mixed between porridge + fried chicken pieces are so SO GOOD!
Ayam grg( short for goreng meaning fried) spicy..... It just means spicy fried chicken
That is right
Ayam Gorg (short form for "goreng" perhaps). The words are flipped in Bahasa Malaysia for English. Ayam (Chicken) Goreng (Fried)
Ahh right! I need to learn some Malay
Love that you loved our Macdonald's! Macdonald's Malaysia loves you for sure for this! 😏👍
Hahaha I guess so. The chicken was the best yet!
love your honest opinion in this video! i got hungry watching you eat now i gotta go order myself some ayam goreng spicy McD😭🧡
Hahha thanks for watching. It was fun to make. I want some more haha
Thank youuuuuu for coming here and trying our foods!!! We loveeee tourists like you ! Each state in our country has its own special food. Come to kelantan and have some nasi kerabu and nasi kak wok. I bet u will love it so so so much.
Thanks a lot! I've had Nasi Kerabu during the Ramadan market times. Super tasty but not original as it wasn't in Kelantan. Was in Kota Bharu and Perhentian Islands recently.
you should try Nasi Lemak Mcd
I have. You can find it on my second channel.
TY for coming to Malaysia
Was a pleasure!
Try out the Spicy Chicken McDeluxe. You can’t find it in any parts of the world except for Malaysia!
Okay, interesting. I will add it to the list for next time
The chicken and beef foldover will be gone soon. It's a seasonal menu for Ramadan. 🤤
You can try Nasi Lemak McD with fried chicken, also their pie coz they have seasonal pie (except Apple Pie which is permanent one), also other drinks/juice like Milo or Ice Coffee.
Cheers and enjoy Malaysia mate. 🫰🏼
Yes, I have noticed some of those temporary items. So delicious!
Thanks!
That’s the crunch, great video 😎👍🏼
Hahaha thanks!
the foldover was a good choice! 😋👍 personally i'd go for the garlic sauce its the bomb!!
Ahh okay. Next time. Sometimes white sauces can be overkill but that sounds pretty good
Great review doll. Glad you enjoyed our Mcdonalds🎉😂❤
Sure did! Thanks for watching!
dtg sabah bro, kau cuba makan lato-lato, sianglak, piutu, dan lain2. Ada sumandak lawa2 men

@@Reardon_Explores 😁
looove the porridge ("bubur" = rice porridge), i'll have it any day!
So tasty
Wow,u can finished all of them in one time...👍🏻❤️
Probably shouldn't have haha
Yes, if not mistaken the fries everywhere is from the same producer, McCain
I think so!
that porridge is the best food when you're having fever....it still taste good when you're sick lol
haha that I can imagine
Bubur nasi or rice porridge is meant to be overcooked rice. If it's just rice in soup, we call it nasi air..or literally translated to rice water(means soup)
Ahh okay. I see. I'm used to the rice being of a harder texture but I guess it depends how it's all prepared, together or not.

Yes, thanks to all the kind malaysian people ❤️
McD in Malaysia is definitely changing IMO. Their burgers are getting worse but other menus are evolving.
Ah really? How interesting! I will say, the burgers are the face of the menu and they need to keep them tasting good
U damn right, I've been a part of the team & seems can't get away from it..🤤
Hahaha I need some of that!
Try being our permanent resident..😉
Try marry brown it's a local Malaysian fast food chain. I love the chicken and rice menus are spot on for fast food.
Sure will do!
I hope you'll get more recognition from people on the youtube!!
Fingers crossed 🤞 we will see what the RUclips Gods have in store :) if not...i'll still keep it going because I enjoy it :)
When i first got oversea i never realized that mcD over there didn't have chilli sauce 😢 Which i cant live without 🤣
Yeah not much. We have Buffalo sauce in the US, and BBQ

Most importantly. thank you for watching! I'll be back to try more :)
Love from Malaysia 😍❤ done subscribe ❤
Thanks for watching! :)
Really thank you for visiting Malaysia☺️
My pleasure. Thanks for making Malaysia a great place! :)
I can see that. every time I have been, the local workers seem very friendly!
Im glad you enjoyed mcdonalds here!
Ayam grg stands for ayam goreng which means fried chicken
And the porridge isnt overcooked because we normally cook the porridge for a long time so we get a mushy texture so its easier to swallow when you are sick 😅
Next time you should try their gcb or nasi lemak!
Thanks for the info! I've had the Nasi Lemak also: ruclips.net/video/T0Q7jYWBxUc/видео.html
GRG not GRC
GRG short for GORENG

YOUR MOST WELCOME
As a Malaysian thank you for trying our food
It was a pleasure. Now, I need to go back.
Malaysia fried chicken market is extremely competitive so if you fail to deliver what general public want ie crispy skin with soft and tender flesh
some people might buy it but the majority will actively avoid it
i always avoid KFC and McDonald fried chicken because their chicken flesh tend to be overcooked
I love it! They are doing it right!
I really love Malaysia Macdonald it's delicious and Very good 😊 And for your information Grg means Fried/frying 😅 and yup Malaysia Fried chicken is spicy
Ah yes. Thanks!
Our McD fried chicken advertisement had no dialogue, just the crunchy sound of ppl biting into it...crunch!!
Hahaha that is awesome
Since fast food in Malaysia is Halal, I wonder if the taste is similar to the non-Halal version
Good question...I wonder so too!
Grg is goreng means fried . Spicy chicken fried . New here and just subscribed to your RUclips channel. Keep it up
Ahh yes got it now. Thanks! Welcome! :)
12:58 We dip our fried chicken in sweet chilli sauce in Malaysia
Oh dang! I should have done that!
I’m about to comment that too.. 😂😂😂.. we all dip the chicken in the sweet chili sauce.
@@Reardon_Explores There’s always next time. You should try KFC & Texas Chicken as well to see if there’s any differences vs other countries

I've had Cendol...what an interesting sweet dish. Refreshing for them heat wave days
Wow that is wild! McDonald's chili is better than what is in the market...hmmm haha. Interesting! Better stock up!
yes.. we dip it in chili sauce. that is normal spicy. there is another seasonal item xtra spicy chicken.. that one i think most foreigner cannot handle
Ahhh right. I think so
If I'm sick and lack of appetite..order a chicken porridge prefer mix in with black pepper 10 sachets in it mwahaha
Haha 10!! WoW! Sounds like a good sickness meal!

Is it only me feel like Malaysia getting more and more recognition lately from foreign influencers?
I believe so...I think it's because people want somewhere new after visiting Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam, and Indonesia so much. Plus, for US citizens, we can stay in Malaysia 90 days visa-free
@@Reardon_Explores Woww US Citizens Can stay 90 days Visa Free In Malaysia?!
